Great video! I have two compost bins that are made of logs, and other than that they are open.I had plenty of worms for my chickens and fishing, but here in the last couple of months we haven't had much rain so they aren't doing as good as they were.
I really like my free range bins, which are of course just ordinary compost bins I treat as worm bins. I do water them in the summer to keep them happy. So easy to do it this way, and if I forget or get busy the worms are still fine.
As a highly trained musician (& science geek) my absolute favorite Darwin bit is how he’d play (or was it one of his kids?) BASSOON, with its deep reedy vibrations, to the worms in his garden. I think his worms came closer to the surface when serenaded! Not sure if the potential danger of rain was the logical explanation? (As a wind quintet playing French hornist, some of my favorite people were bassoonists😘)
Darwin's music experiments with worms were awesome. I believe he also brought worms into his house while piano was played. There is a great book called "The Earth Moved" by Amy Stewart that goes into it in detail and is pretty fascinating on worms in general.
Wow,who would have thought there would b a worm scam! Very interesting video.
I know, right?
