Do yourself a favour and look at how professional cyclists eat, they eat like friggin pigs, but don't have three ounces of fat on their bodies. They burn so much calories that a 10K calorie diet is great for them, but they are never going to do their sport by starving themselves

Completely agree, making lifestyle changes is the key to weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight! Something like 95% of fad dieters regain all their lost weight because it’s just not sustainable long term.
I have a big... BIG... BIIIIGGGGG... muscles!!! HAHAHA!!! What did you think I was going for? That's so DIRTY of you! GAGAGAGA!!! I am the funniest RUclipsr ever! Maybe that's the reason why I have TWO (!!!) HOT (!) GIRLFRIENDS. Thanks for being alive, dear co
Yup I agree. For example, many people successfully lose weight on the Keto diet but it's just not sustainable for most people in the long run. So once they're off Keto, they need to make healthy lifestyle changes by swapping out those unhealthy high calorie foods for healthier options.
changing your lifestyle is the hardest part of loosing weight, change is just in general really hard. A lot of people would rather die than change one thing about themselves. You have to admit that what you are doing is wrong and commit to doing things differently, how many people do you know who are willing to do that?
@@UltimateBallaPOM A number PhD Layne Norton "Fat loss forever" often states. Essentially whenever your diet fails and you consume more energy [calories] than you burn overall there is a potential for formation of new fat cells (adipogenesis) and once you diet again those cells sense that you are in an energy deficit and signal your brain to ingest food. But since you now have more fat cells that signal is bigger now so its even harder to resist. Probably a combination of skipping meals and or reducing calorie dense foods is an appropriate means to achieve long lasting fat loss while making sure that you first drink some water to stretch the stomach as this might help to reduce hunger each and every meal so long as you don' t stretch out your stomach too much. Since this can make fail to feel saturated. Just don' t jug gallons at once and probably don' t try to eat massive amounts of low calorie food because once you don' t go that low calorie your calorie surplus will be even bigger if you continue to eat the same volume of food with higher energy density.
Jeff I just want to say thank you. Your nutrition and exercise info has helped me lose 41 lbs since October of last year! Heart disease, obesity, and diabetes have run rampant through my family for many years and I am determined to break that chain. So thank you for the quality information and helping me to make the changes I needed!
Depends on what the struggle is really doesn't it? 5-10lbs, no so bad. 30,40,50,60+ - it's more about taking care of yourself than being unkind to your body.
Kind to yourself means ruthlessly kick your ass , so you will be healthy and strong. Saying "its okay" "it doesnt matter if you didnt do it" is actually unkind.
I can relate to this especially when you said “doing cardio exercise and expecting to lose weight. Nutrition is key to better weight loss. Love this channel!
you can absolutely loose weight with proper nutrition and cardio though, but you are eventually going to need to add resistance training into the mix, but still you can loose some life-affirming weight trough proper diet and cardio alone.
@@corriedebeer799 Resistance training burns very few calories compared to cardio. You should be doing resistance training for other goals, not for fat loss.
Even if I think the title doesn't apply to my specific situation at the moment, I still watch it. Jeff's talks are always a sound way to keep yourself in check. I just wish this sort of content existed in my language, I know a grand lot of people (in a country where inactivity and obesity is a wide issue) who could benefit from science and straight talk when it comes to fitness.
This has been the number key for me. At 50, I was diagnosed with diabetes. Very overweight, 290lbs. I totally changed my life style, cut out sugar intake (especially through drinks), and moved to healthier carbs, higher protein, more raw vegetables, more fiber, way less processed foods. I also added weight/resistance training. Almost three years later, diabetes is gone (A1C for over a year has been 5.1%) and have lost over 60 pounds. When people ask me what diet I’m on, I can’t give them a name. I have a long way to go (my target weight is to drop another 30 pounds) - but little by little I have seen lifestyle change as the key! Thanks Jeff for always reminding us of this!!!
I followed your advice and Jeff Nippard 2 months ago and now I'm doing really great. Slowly losing weight. Putting on muscle and I feel great. #1 get rid of the term diet in your head. #2 stop worrying about the scale. #3 focus on the quality of what you eat. #4 only a calorie deficit will allow you to lose weight. #5 focus on resistance training. I'm happy 😊 thanks Jeff and other Jeff😂😂
This is great. I've lost over 100 lbs and I have so many people asking me for advice. The number one thing is:"what's your secret!?" Yeah I like to run and lift weights with my new body, but beyond a doubt, nutrition is the factor behind weight loss. Consistency over a very long time will get you to your goal. Depending on your goal... That could be incredibly challenging. Jeff has set and achieved a truly remarkable goal, it's not my personal goal, but I continue to learn and be inspired by him.
I'm almost two months into my journey. Went cold turkey on sugar, processed foods, seed/nut oils, etc. Work out one hour a day, six days a week. Usually run 1 mile (8 min) and then lift weights the rest of the time. The first 5 weeks I steadily lost a total of 15 lbs. Now I've just hit a wall and been stuck at the same weight for 2 weeks. Wish I knew what I was doing wrong but I'm just going to keep at it and hope I break that barrier.
“Save the names for kids and puppies” I love this channel! I have come a long way on my fitness journey, thanks for sharing your knowledge on RUclips 🙌🏻
Truth bombs, Althlean-X. I can say that I adopted a lifestyle change starting at the beginning of September 2020. I was tipping the scales at 195 and that was way too much for me. Basically, I reduced my calories in a gradual way (as not to activate “starvation mode”). Seven and a half months later, and I am at 170 and dropping. More significantly, is that I have lost 5 inches around the waist. Because of some nagging injuries, I have been light on the strength training. Once I get back to that, I am confident I can get back to about 175, but with another 2 inches off the waist ... and maybe the physique I had back in the day :-)) Calorie-counting works, and it is not all that hard (well, the first week or two is… but after that, you don’t really ever feel that hungry). Will I get to a 6-pack? Working on it… You are inspirational.

Diet plans are short term fixes, so true!! I put myself to binge eat after trying different diets. In the end, eat natural foods and having a balanced diet works.
I came across this channel about 12mths ago and have found the technique advice and suggestions invaluable. Although I’m obese with a BMI of 32 my goal hasn’t been weight loss- it’s been to improve my general health and fitness. I haven’t changed my diet much although I do notice I don’t crave sweet foods very much anymore. The weird thing for me is that my weight has stayed exactly the same, but I’m definitely a lot stronger, fitter and my physique has changed significantly.
I’ve completely changed my eating style: meat, vegetables and a carb on my exercise days. I’ve also added fiber and grains as a snack, and drink protein regularly and water, plus green tea. The fats coming off slowly, but it is noticeably coming off. I use cardio for a brief warm up or for heart and lung strengthening only. Realized a while back that cardio is never an effective way to lose weight. I try to stay within a 1,300 to 1,500 caloric intake every day.
Great topic and video. I really enjoyed the video about foods that's secretly making you fat that you made a while ago. I think another video on that same topic would be much appreciated by us all
Great video. I've lost about 15 lbs so far in the last 2.5 months and the last 2 weeks my weight has barely changed. Tip 5 hits the nail on the head. Stop fussing about deadlines and just stick to it
I used to be 170 kg, and I lost 80 of them in about 1.5 years. Diet (not "a diet", but what I put in my mouth) was 95% of it. It was tough, it was boring but it worked. And after losing the first 30, I wanted to get fitter, and I started working out. But the first 30 kg was purely down to what I ate. Exercising was great, and I love that my body has gotten stronger, but understanding a calorie deficit is the key to weight loss.
Just remember how funny the red flags were when they were throwing them at each other on here. PT is mostly a serious mindset but a few laughs during breaks between reps could help
Changed my life ruclips.net/user/postUgkxIUm04tAgSzlAhCWEr7VlRptRAMVsjeAC I will never eat the same ever again. "Unless you physically trip and your face lands in a box of donuts, there is no such thing as a 'slip'." Get that mind set and you'll win again and again.
Spot on advice by opining it’s a lifestyle and not a diet. Having said that let me share some advice from a 60year old male who has maintained the same waist, 30”. Don’t eat past 7pm. Eat gluten free with balanced complex carbs and lean protein. Also engage in intermittent fasting at least one day a week. Avoid simple carbs, sugar and artificial sweeteners. Exercise 5 days a week including resistance and brisk walking. Take psyllium, zinc and vit C daily. If possible do an epsom salt bath weekly. Stay positive and love life.
i disagree with the last one. i started with just a 2 week goal. then added another week. then added another month. now, im more than a year with my lifestyle. my point is the hard part is how to start, if youre thinking of a long term when you start you might think that you cant do it. but if you have a short term goal. then its easier to achieve. then you can ask yourself again if you want to continue or not which most likely is you will continue cause youre seeing result and you dont want to waste your effort by quitting. my opinion may not work for other people but it sure does for me.
The best way to drastically loose weight is going through the worst break up and keep training... You should notice a difference within the first five days. xD

Yup I agree. For example, many people successfully lose weight on the Keto diet but it's just not sustainable for most people in the long run. So once they're off Keto, they need to make healthy lifestyle changes by swapping out those unhealthy high calorie foods for healthier options.
You and Coach have this exact 95% number..
Where did you get it from?
changing your lifestyle is the hardest part of loosing weight, change is just in general really hard. A lot of people would rather die than change one thing about themselves. You have to admit that what you are doing is wrong and commit to doing things differently, how many people do you know who are willing to do that?
@@UltimateBallaPOM
A number PhD Layne Norton "Fat loss forever" often states.
Just have to say how much I appreciate Jessie’s (sp?) contributions to this channel. 😊
Yup! Jesse Laico's always willing to take one for the team whether it's demonstrating the wrong way to do exercises or dress up for hilarious skits.
Jesse's got few fans eh. 😁
All these tips are so on point. I love Jeff. He gives some of the most honest and helpful advice out there
It’s great to always try and improve, but remember to be kind to yourself throughout the struggles.
Facts!
Yes. Isnt being kind to oneself is why people start taking care of themselves in the first place.
Be kind to yourself with chocolate cake? Sounds like a red flag 😁
I can relate to this especially when you said “doing cardio exercise and expecting to lose weight. Nutrition is key to better weight loss. Love this channel!
Nutrition + cardio is king
you can absolutely loose weight with proper nutrition and cardio though, but you are eventually going to need to add resistance training into the mix, but still you can loose some life-affirming weight trough proper diet and cardio alone.
@@corriedebeer799 Resistance training burns very few calories compared to cardio. You should be doing resistance training for other goals, not for fat loss.
@@poolmaster18 is resistance training and weight training not the same thing? Sorry may be confusing terms here.
@@corriedebeer799 Yea weight training comes under resistance training.

Solid advice. You did not get fat overnight and you do not get thin overnight.
"Save the names for kids and puppies... " Perfect.

Jessie and Jeff are an awesome comedic duo. 😁👌
Been watching your videos for 1 week and I just signed up for the gym. And I want to say thank you for posting no BS videos.

Thank you Jeff for every advice you give us!! Best channel ever!
I'm at that barrier right now, did you mange to lose anymore weight?
Love how he pulled up a fold up metal wrestling chair. Jesse’s getting the chair shot!
“Save the names for kids and puppies” I love this channel! I have come a long way on my fitness journey, thanks for sharing your knowledge on RUclips 🙌🏻

@@danielebruno1531 You're absolutely right that's why I'm not giving up eventhough I don't like working out but I'm in it for life and for my health.
Once I get back to that, I am confident I can get back to about 175, but with another 2 inches off the waist ... and maybe the physique I had back in the day :-))
Calorie-counting works, and it is not all that hard (well, the first week or two is… but after that, you don’t really ever feel that hungry). Will I get to a 6-pack? Working on it…
You are inspirational.
You: "I tried everything"

Diet plans are short term fixes, so true!! I put myself to binge eat after trying different diets. In the end, eat natural foods and having a balanced diet works.
this is the kind of thing i really needed to hear
One of Jeff’s best videos of talking about diet/nutrition lifestyle facts
Jeff definitely concentrates on his eating making sure to go through the full range of motion and gets the eccentric portion of motion
As an RD, you are music to my ears. THANK YOU.
Can’t tell if my diet is shit...or if I’m gaining muscle...
You should know if your diet is shit though
If you’re exercising then definitely gaining muscles (u can feel it too) but your diet perhaps not be the best
I love how sporting Jesse is, cracks me up 😂
I’ve completely changed my eating style: meat, vegetables and a carb on my exercise days.
Always eagerly waiting 😀
Jeff , you are truly a role model. Einstein of training. Cannot thank you enough for giving this information for free.
Stop fussing about deadlines and just stick to it
“If you have a name for how you eat, it’s an indicator to me that you have a short term solution for your long term problems”
Bro preach it
I used to be 170 kg, and I lost 80 of them in about 1.5 years.
20k views in 35 minutes... amazing!
Thank you for this video. I shared these hard truths with a few people I'm close to. "Save the names for kids and puppies" Love it!
Good timing! I just started going for the goal of losing weight
Just remember how funny the red flags were when they were throwing them at each other on here. PT is mostly a serious mindset but a few laughs during breaks between reps could help
This is really insightful.
This is why I love to promote science and reasons rather than fads.
Stoic: Son, you got to do something about... *that.*
Hiccup: You just gestured to all of me.
Look for an inner motivation to drive your long term goals. That is pure, raw wisdom over there, applies to everything.
I'm lean, but I still enjoyed watching this. This is definitelly a good reminder not to fall for the "classic fittnes traps".
The diet names remind me of something I heard a long time ago: "I did the 30 days diet and what did I lose? 30 days..."
i disagree with the last one. i started with just a 2 week goal. then added another week. then added another month.
now, im more than a year with my lifestyle.
my point is the hard part is how to start, if youre thinking of a long term when you start you might think that you cant do it.
but if you have a short term goal. then its easier to achieve. then you can ask yourself again if you want to continue or not which most likely is you will continue cause youre seeing result and you dont want to waste your effort by quitting.
my opinion may not work for other people but it sure does for me.
The best way to drastically loose weight is going through the worst break up and keep training... You should notice a difference within the first five days. xD
You may notice a difference within 5 days, but you will not notice anything significant until around 2 months time.

My "issue" right now isn't losing weight, I'm dropping 1-2 lbs and gaining back half a pound every other day. What I'm dealing with now is losing fat in the hardest areas to lose fat. Lower stomach, obliques, upper stomach. It must be my nutrition that i thought I had cleaned up enough to see "quicker" results, though it's already month 4 and still struggling to lose that belly fat. The grind continues
