Definitely harder than I expected
Cool! I was there. You and I talked a little bit whenever I got off the 350. We talked about how we both preferred the 350 to the 390. Because I didn't like the 390 as much as the 350, I didn't even bother trying the bigger 4-strokes. Guess that was a poor decision. I had my own personal XTrainer 300 out there with me and I really was interested in comparing the XTrainer with the 300RR. But I did enjoy that 350RR a lot. I liked the 390, I just liked the 350 more. Also, major kudos for going out there and doing that. You really jumped in head first if that was your first experience on single track with a dirt bike! Not even a mild trail bike, but you went immediately to fire breathing enduro bikes for a first try. Great job! I got into riding off road for the first time in March 2021 and it was on a mild Kawasaki KLX300 and I was super TIMID in the dirt. But I stuck with it. That was after 20+ years of sport bikes, retro bikes, and ADV bikes. Once I got bit by the dirt bug, though, there was no going back. Do you think you'll ever try riding single track again? If so, check out the DBSA on facebook. If you're not too far from Floresville, the DBSA club has property there. Just get a sponsor and have a ball. More single track than what's at Spoaks and more varied dirt. Anyway, I put up a video of my experience at the Beta demo day too if you're interested. And plenty of single track video of the ranch at Floresville, Zars Ranch.
Definitely my first time on any type of dirt. It was fun but I need some work. I have a friend willing to give me some tips my next time out.

As a new 2024 beta 430 race owner, who went on a few beta demo days, I can appreciate this so much. Not because you picked mine as first but because it showed input from a new off-road rider that doesn't have bias. A very good and honest review from one individuals' perspective. Of course, all betas are exceptional bikes (my own bias) and It's a different strokes for different folks type situation (both literally and figuratively). Well done! Note: experienced trail rider here and my stand outs were the 350 race, xtrainer, and 480rr in no particular order.
Love the feedback. I had never heard of beta until this event. Didn’t even check how much they cost until after my demos. I feel like going in blind is the best way to come to an honest decision.
Ill just throw my pence worth into the mix ,every loop you did you defo gained convedence well done this is off road riding and there are what we call different disaplins from mx enduro trials calls on different skill sets many a advanced rider can mix and call on once out riding
Iwould say the differance in bike weights can also be noticed on the engines displacment and a thing called enersure that can make huge differance in the tight going the smaller T2 engined bikes are alot more nimble and dont tend to cough stall unlike the T4 engined bikes

The 390 should be the easiest to be ride, I used to have one. Waiting for 2024 300 to arrive Which is a beast. Ride safe
By far the worst from a noobs perspective
That throttle is intentionally touchy to quickly get that front wheel lite when you need it.
Ya I went into this basically blind and definitely gained a lot of respect for motor-cross and single track riding.
Curious what bad habits you think dirt bikers have? Riding off road tends to make you a better street rider actually.
Being able to relax and look 4-5 seconds ahead on the road is very important. While riding these I noticed I was looking straight down and tense the whole ride.

Dirt bikes will teach you have to better handle a bike with no traction, have better reaction times, better clutch/throttle and brake control, and how to handle inconsistent terrain.
