I've been a fan of Horslips since the late 70's. Great band! Awesome looking boxset.

My late friend Dennis met Horslips when they were on a US tour in the late 70s. He lived in the state of Connecticut, and he met them when they were playing there. They went to the record store where his friend worked, and Horslips were enthusiastically scooping up US punk 45s! I did see a photo for proof, haha.
This boxed set is incredible. So comprehensive.

Thanks for the review I got this when it came out .Favourite album is book of invasions.I agree that Madfish are the kings of box sets .I’d recommend pretty Things vinyl box There’s no book however you do get inserts with information on each album and they all sound great .I’ve got my eye on the Ian Anderson solo album box that’s coming out in August .Looks great and would be a nice companion to my Tull box set collection

Cracking box set, if only they would produce boxsets for Argent and The Strawbs!

I saw them in 1980 here in Waterford Ireland at the Savoy theatre. They were a brilliant group with a mixture of Irish trad and rock. My favourite album is Book of Invasions.

A ouple of years ago i bought the remastered CDs with the original packaging and they sounded great but i did this box as a xmas treat to myself and they have even upted them on this boxset and what a fabulous box it is indeed, so glad i went for it and bought back some great memories of seeing them live back in the mid 70s, celtic rock at it's finest

Lovely set, bought it last year, it’s a real treat like all Madfish Boxes. I also have the Caravan set, and the Mother of all Madfish sets, the 50 Disc Al Stewart Admiralty Lights.

I honestly never heard of this band before, but the box is very well put together. This is high quality.

I knew I had to order this box set as soon as it was announced! As you say Phil Madfish do such a superb job on these boxes - I also own the Mayall and Caravan ones - and they are worth every penny. I especially live the books that come with them - they'd be £30-40 themselves if you had to buy them separately.
Being a folk-rock fan I would love Madfish to do one for Steeleye Span (and an Albion Band one would be nice too).
    Cheers...Pete

Thanks Phil for an excellent review of this marvellous box set of one of my favourite bands. I saw Horslips at Hitchin Poly in 1976; I already had LP's of Happy To Meet, Sorry To Part and The Tain and went on to collect many others. A greatly underrated band, they where always in the 'Celtic' section of record stores which didn't do them any favours I think. Thanks again.

Amazing.A huge box set of Horslips.Back in 79/80 I shared a flat with a bloke of Irish ancestry and he had everything Horslips.I didn’t know of the band and he played me their latest Man Who Built America. Then The Tain.Loved them.I wonder where Shane is now he would buy it in a flash. If I was rolling in it I would too.I do have a few cds of them but gee I’m tempted.I passed on Wishbone Ash because I have all their 70s cd and some later ones.I found Gentle Giant a difficult listen in my younger years but I absolutely love them now.Now if I could find that one now.But I mightily impressed by the work that has gone into the Horslips set. Here in Australia I could count on my one hand who have heard of Horslips.Thin Lizzy,Rory Gallagher,U2,but Horslips?Btw Johnny Fean has since passed on last year.

We used to confuse them with Warhorse! Same era, similar name. Must try this band. Biggest '70s Irish band after Lizzy / Taste?

First got into Horslips just before the release of The Book Of Invasions. Remember World Of Sport (a UK weekend sports programme from the 70's)?, Dickie Davies introduced a race segment one Saturday (bikes or something?) and had this fantastic music accompanying it, at the end he said the music was Horslips and a track from their forthcoming album Book Of Invasions. I bought it on the basis of that track. Fantastic band. Re the box, I just wish the artwork had been 'Celtic' instead of that ruddy 'German clown' picture...it put me off buying it!

The Táin is not pronounced like pain, it's pronounced like fawn, so instead of the f put in a t. I'm Irish and we do like our Irish words pronounced correctly. Great box set Phil.
