Well for me, "gaming on the go", did mean trading Pokemon with random kids 5 to 7 years younger then myself in the DS era. But I have since learned that I can't do that anymore as I am now a creepy old man. 😣 So now, "Gaming on the go", means moving from a recliner (that is slightly too close to the TV to fully recline, but far enough away that i dont get eye strain.) all the way over 7 to 10 feet to my much more comfortable bed complete with a backrest and in the winter lots of blankets to stay warm. Still I have thought about getting one of those hospital TV cranes to be able to swivel my TV around to play Switch on the TV, while in bed... But with all the other bad and lazy things that come with that kind of life style choice, moving a few feet to my bed is the best option in the long run.

I can totally see how some people might not get use out of it though. But for us we use it daily and its totally changed how we play video games.
It's more likely that the boyfriend will introduce something like the Steam Deck to his girlfriend. So this video title is not accurate. Besides that, I don't understand why boyfriend/girlfriend has anything to do with being capable of deciding whether to purchase something like the Steam Deck...
I got mine back in April and absolutely love it. I enjoy it a lot more than both my gaming laptop and my switch. The later of which I won't touch again until the next major installment of zelda or metroid.
Which version of the Steam Deck do you have and what's the difference between it and the Switch (for you)? I do own a Switch (which i like a lot) but also thought about buying a Steam Deck at some point, but so far i don't see any reason why it would be "better" than my Switch (at least for how i like to use it).
@@CaptainEffort In terms of "library" my Switch is not far behind compared to the amount of games i own on Steam. Both platforms have great games and i simply don't have the time to play them all. What i really love about my Switch is that i'm able to play fully detached from every other device i own in various ways. My preferred way of playing with my Switch is in a tablet holder with detached Joy Con (which is essentially the most comfortable way to play i have experienced in over 25 years of gaming). Funny enough i don't use my Switch as a "classic" handheld at all and play docked very rarely. Yes, the Switch is now over five years old and the Steam Deck is a much more recent product (in terms of tech) but i think the performance is fine more often than not and even games like Doom Eternal are fun to play on Switch.
...Ok that's me with my craft supplies while my husband does his gaming! The point is I feel slightly attacked and I'm going to cross stitch passively about it!!!
A man of culture, I see! I discovered DOS2 over the pandemic while me and my housemates were looking for same-screen games to play together. Such a good game.
The moment you said Divinity I knew your boyfriend is long gone. But if you are jealous, you could be playing as Loshe is you buy another steam deck, since it *is* co-op
My (yes, actual family) cousin intercepted my delivery in June and immediately pawned it for 325$. The police report I had made, which (thankfully) included the pawn shop receipt I had (very luckily) found right away, has guaranteed its safety but I'm still waiting on the judicial process. I put off watching this video because it (not literally) literally physically hurts to see and hear about... And then Shelby talks about my all-time favourite game ever (literally), Divinity OS2. This was a great review (as usual), but DAMN it stings to hear how well that masterpiece functions on Stream Deck.
I felt so attacked when she caught ol' dude playing his deck at his desk chair inches from his gaming PC. That's mostly how I use it too. I'm still getting all the third party launchers and tools installed though, in my defense. Want to try to install a few mods for some games. Already got Reshade working via Steam Tinker Launch, which is the primary reason I wanted a deck over switch. Playing a TON of Borderlands 3, Forza Horizon 5, and Ryse Son of Rome in it so far. This thing is a BEAST!
Bought one kinda expecting your usecase (can I? yes would I? no...). But that device grew on me marvelously for one thing. I have little time to play and almost no time to like "sit for 4 hours and immerse myself in the game". This device has instant sleep/wakeup mode. Now it's possible to play big titles 10 minutes at a time from anywhere and when I actually get to my normal PC, I get to resume it. Imagine being stuck on a boss in hollow knight and trying it again, and again... every time for just 2-3 tries in between other activities. So yeah, for me, it created a bunch of time that I wouldn't be gaming before and I'm now, whilst still enjoying high quality games (currently playing dirt 2, one stage at a time).
This was an incredible video and I loved all of it; however, simply marking Joe Jonas' character in Camp Rock as "Joe Jonas" was the part that made me laugh by far the hardest for some reason.
I had mine for over two months now and I play a bunch of it. I commute by train 3-4 times a week, if the kids take over the TV, I stream PS5 to it. I love it :D
Why am I just seeing this now.!!! I ordered mine in July. got it the middle of September. My wife Has literally gone through the same story as you. She loved this video. She even said I should have watched this and saved 549.00!
The first few days have been indeed all about installing and setting things up. But since then I actually really use this device for gaming and even as a second desktop pc. Especially on travelling its excellent 👌
If I was traveling for work across the the world on a monthly basis I would consider it heavily. Outside of that, and considering that I don’t travel that often, this seems like the most likely and real review of a device I don’t even own yet.
This is the first video I have watched of yours, and it was pretty comical and good. The alternate point of view is a welcome change to typical reviews.
Not gonna lie, I get recommended your videos all the time, but never gave them a watch. Clicked this one since I got my Deck paid for yesterday, and I was laughing my ass off start to finish. Definitely subscribing, keep up the amazing work, and Ill need to go back and watch your older videos.

I do own a Switch (which i like a lot) but also thought about buying a Steam Deck at some point, but so far i don't see any reason why it would be "better" than my Switch (at least for how i like to use it).
@@D2daICE For me it’s the library, and the performance of games that’re also on Switch
with yuzu you should be able to play them on the Steam Deck too
@@CaptainEffort
In terms of "library" my Switch is not far behind compared to the amount of games i own on Steam.
Can u play monster hunter rise sunbreak on steam deck
2:23 Literally me.
"Look, I can play FF7R in bed"
...Ok that's me with my craft supplies while my husband does his gaming! The point is I feel slightly attacked and I'm going to cross stitch passively about it!!!
You go girl!
Me with yarn.
"Look, I could I can knit something out of slightly different color of green."
"Cool! Are you going to?"
"...no."
A man of culture, I see! I discovered DOS2 over the pandemic while me and my housemates were looking for same-screen games to play together. Such a good game.
The moment you said Divinity I knew your boyfriend is long gone. But if you are jealous, you could be playing as Loshe is you buy another steam deck, since it *is* co-op
this is the correct course of action.
Shed have to wait another year to get it.
That Hermione edit was phenomenal. Better than perfect.
2:09 I always appreciate seeing a random JaboodyDubs reference pop in
This video perfectly captures my Steam Deck experience. "Look!! I can play this game anywhere!!" "Will you?" "No."
Okay, hearing that Divinity is what got you hooked on the deck made me unreasonably happy. ❤
my wife can never see this video... it's too accurate.
This is disturbingly accurate after getting my steam deck last week 💀
My (yes, actual family) cousin intercepted my delivery in June and immediately pawned it for 325$. The police report I had made, which (thankfully) included the pawn shop receipt I had (very luckily) found right away, has guaranteed its safety but I'm still waiting on the judicial process.
I put off watching this video because it (not literally) literally physically hurts to see and hear about... And then Shelby talks about my all-time favourite game ever (literally), Divinity OS2.
This was a great review (as usual), but DAMN it stings to hear how well that masterpiece functions on Stream Deck.
Matt's saucy wink made me cry laugh lolololololol
That Steam Deck unboxing at 1:48 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It was in an Easy Spa box!! I'm 😂😂
Those things are hard to get, I'll twiddle his Deck for him if he doesn't want to himself.
Yo, this channel is a gem. Just found it by accident, I frekinnnnnnnnnn love this channel.
Dang it, I was hoping this video would be the one I could show my wife to get her off the fence about getting one lol. Great video!
Oh yeah, I’m interested to see how good this is too.
Hahaha that Moonstruck reference was so unexpected, but also perfectly timed. Kudos Shelby!
4:40 I dindt know I needed that Lohse meme in my life, but now I do
Bought one kinda expecting your usecase (can I? yes would I?
And here I thought we were cool, because my wife AND I each got our own 512GB Steam Decks...
I'm WATCHING this on a SteamDeck!
I busted laughing so hard at 3:18 lol when Matt made that face. XD
This was an incredible video and I loved all of it; however, simply marking Joe Jonas' character in Camp Rock as "Joe Jonas" was the part that made me laugh by far the hardest for some reason.
Agreed
I had mine for over two months now and I play a bunch of it. I commute by train 3-4 times a week, if the kids take over the TV, I stream PS5 to it. I love it :D
I stream my PS5 to my iPhone 13 max. Wouldn’t it be the same thing? My oreorder is up and wondering if I really need this
I would love to see a "Should you play Divinity OS2 with your bf?", it's such an amazing game and great for coop
Why am I just seeing this now.!!! I ordered mine in July. got it the middle of September. My wife Has literally gone through the same story as you. She loved this video. She even said I should have watched this and saved 549.00!
Finally, a steam deck review almost everyone can relate to..
😉
Now I can finally play on the go, from desk to my bed
Matt's in bed, playing with his *Steam Deck* (said in a New Zealand accent)
Be honest: you only decided to make this video so you could naturally share that incredibly Lohse Harry Potter edit of yours? :’)
I hadn’t watched a review from you guys in a while and you’re still as funny as I remember. Kudos
No one commenting on her boyfriend fiddling with his deck?
The first few days have been indeed all about installing and setting things up. But since then I actually really use this device for gaming and even as a second desktop pc. Especially on travelling its excellent 👌
As a man who loves Moonstruck, I fully endorse this message.
This girl is so good, I wonder if she has a boyfriend.
No hyperbole, this maybe the greatest 5-minutes on RUclips! Bravo!
Fiddling with his deck 💀
The Moonstruck reference took me right out 😂 Amazing work on this video!
I'm ashamed of how much I've replayed the first minute because I'm just laughing my ass off. The Aziz Ansari bit just broke me
30 percent history class, 30 percent gossips , 20 percent content and 30 percent sponsors
I reserved a Steam Deck.. and I imagine this is exactly what I will do when I finally get one
Stay strong! Just received mine and is totally worth it.
If I was traveling for work across the the world on a monthly basis I would consider it heavily. Outside of that, and considering that I don’t travel that often, this seems like the most likely and real review of a device I don’t even own yet.
This was fudging hilarious. Thank you so much!
Steam Deck is a myth, this thing doesn't exist.
Top notch quality as always.
3:19 is so cute. It’s straight wallpaper worthy.
Can't get enough of you guys, loveeeeed this videooo
2:35 was verbatim word for word a convo I had with my wife after I got mine.
The law and order svu references 😂
This is the first video I have watched of yours, and it was pretty comical and good. The alternate point of view is a welcome change to typical reviews.
3:20 Gonna loop this
Lol 😂
I only just came across this video, its quality, great job!
Not gonna lie, I get recommended your videos all the time, but never gave them a watch. Clicked this one since I got my Deck paid for yesterday, and I was laughing my ass off start to finish. Definitely subscribing, keep up the amazing work, and Ill need to go back and watch your older videos.
it was the opposite for me... prob is not black people humor *shrugs*
@@sonicandroxas considering I'm a black man, not really seeing where you are going with this comment. You do you though
Woah, the camp rock marching steam deck chant edit was underrated and impressive...
Your editing skills have increased by 5
0:29 Have you considered singing professionally?
