- I hope you enjoyed the sounds from this guitar as much I enjoyed playing it. It's a lot of guitar for your money. The pickups sounds great, they are dynamic and relatively low output (which I like) with great balance between the positions. The nitro finish will age beautifully with you as you keep playing it.
I can highly recommend it, and it seems like it's another home run from the good people at Fender.
FYI: I changed the knobs, selector switch and the pickguard, otherwise everything is stock.

Exact same telecaster. Plays great. Changed pick guard to a white one. Also, Low E string tuner broke. Purchased a new vintage set. Back in business. Love this guitar. Play this more than my ‘60’s or ‘50’s reissue models.
I have one of these and it's one of the best guitars in my stable. Nice fat neck and the volume and tone controls work well I purchased it new and the neck lacquer wasn't fully dry, it was sticky for months, so I finally took to steel wool on the front and back with great results. I replaced the saddles with brass Gotoh compensated saddles. As with another person in the comment section, I just discovered this channel today. How could I have missed it? Excellent job with your demos!

I just purchased the 2016 (pre-Vintera) version of this guitar immediately after trying it out at the store. Super light (6.6 lbs), resonant, and killer 50’s neck. Love your playing!

I own a 52 tele from the American Vintage line and it has been gigged and jammed with consistently for years, and the wear looks just like this! I would say this is a pretty accurate replica of roadwear from Fender!
Yeah I agree - the edges on nitro finished guitars tend to wear quicker. But I gotta admit, it is kinda done a little underwhelming. But for the price it’s a great addition having the nitro finish. I ended up polishing the guitar to a ‘buffed’ sheen which made it look much better. I used some turtle scratch and remove and a microfiber cloth. It did wonders!

How u finding the tele? I have the road worn strat, absolutely love it. Have a classic vibe tele that I think is so good for the price I paid but so tempted to get rid and get a road worn..

I think it’s killer! especially after giving it a bit of a polished finish, seem much more premium and custom shop’ish. I just used some turtle scratch and remove and a microfiber cloth. I even prefer it over my Wildwood AVRI '59 Telecaster, both in terms sound and feel. I love fat neck.

I love the look and feel of the Tele, and sound-wise it's really resonant already without the amplifier. I really didn't like the factory strings, though (although they were Fender branded, no noname), but obviously, that's only a minor detail.
The bridge pickup is great for rock, despite the not so hot output - I generally like pickups that are not too hot. It is not as trebly as many other tele bridge pickups, which I like but some might want exactly that. It still has very good definition and enough treble, just not THAT much. The neck pickup is the only real drawback for my taste. Somewhat muffled and not so much character in my ears.
Everything else: Awesome, great playability and neck, good fretwork, fun to play, great build quality but despite the fat neck not too heavy.

Wonderful playing! That tone is to dye for. If you don’t mind me asking, who are some of your favorite players? I’ve been playing for 40 years, but I’ve always been more of a metal head/ shredder. I’d love to start getting into some of this!
Thank you for your comment David. I’m influenced by a lot of different players. Some of them would be Mark Knopfler, Eric Johnson, Tom Bukovac, Julian Lage, Ted Greene, just to mention a few. I stated my guitar journey with the heavier stuff too, but pretty quickly I merged into melodic and mellower stuff, it somehow speaks to me more.

Hi, yeah - there’s a lot of great demos out there. Check out Eric Haugen Guitar. I’m not that good at reviews. But most of my videos are played through the built in IR’s of my tone master, so that kind of gives a impression of how it can sound :-)

I recently received my own road worn tele in lake placid blue and you're absolutely right, it's a lot of guitar for the money. You mentioned that you replaced your knobs and the pickguard. I'm about to do similar upgrades. For some reason my knobs looks brand new so it doesn't match the road worn look. Do you have recommendations for these replacement parts? There's so many third-party parts...

Yeah the knobs looks pretty new. But the ‘fender road worn knobs’ can be had pretty cheap at the major online stores. As for the pickguard, I’d look at Crazyparts.de . They have lots of great aged parts. Hope you enjoy your new fine guitar :D Take care

Nice demo! How did you get a hold of this finish? The yellow ones have been on back order everywhere for a while. I just got the purple version but would much prefer the yellow one.

i know its about preference but how much relief you have/use on your trus rod ? action? pickup height?

I have just a tiny bit of relief, the neck is almost dead straight. Action is around .070 on low e and 0.060 on high e. Rest of the strings is set to match the radius.
Where’d you get that guitar strap? The guitar sounds amazing. One of the few fenders that I actually like.
Thank you! The strap is from Levy’s - I believe it’s called 2” classic cotton. Great colors. I have them on almost all of my stringed instruments. Love em.
thanks for this, very interested in this guitar, what do you think of the sound compared to e.g. the american professional II? and what about the U shaped neck, does it really make a big difference? (i'm a bit worried as I have relatively short fingers)
Thanks for your comment. I like it a lot! Unfortunately I haven’t got any experience with the AM Pro II line, but I do prefer nitro lacquered guitars in general. My theory is, that fatter necks gives you the best tone, especially when combined with a fairly light body, this one is 3,3 kg which is a great weight imo. It’s hard to recommend guitar necks, since it’s such a personal thing - I have a smallish hand, and this neck feels amazing. A lot of times you can get used to a neck, unless it’s physically impossible to reach around. Big palm, short fingers - small palm, long fingers. I’d recommend you try one out first if unsure. All '50s Vintera guitars have the fat U style neck. Take care
I have one of these in lake placid blue and I love it. The U-shaped neck was a concern because I do not have long fingers but I have no issues at all and I really love the shape.

This video sold me on this guitar; seems like the best option without spending more than £1K (not sure any Tele should cost more than that!).
Thanks man. It’s great value for sure. The nitro finish is a great addition, makes it feel a bit more premium, although the relic is - soso.. it’ll get better with some months or years of use. I little tip. I ended up polishing mine to give it a more premium feel, and it’s so much better now - it’s not high gloss, but very reminiscent to a custom shop shine. Highly recommend doing that if you don’t like the matte finish.
@@ChrisEffort Yeah, it just seems so nice and worn in, and I find the 7.25 radius so comfortable compared to the modern ones. Not too bothered about having a perfect relic, I would’ve happily bought an AVRI 52 tele before they stopped making them, and the Vinteras are unfortunately Poly. This seems like the ideal option, thanks for the tips. 👍🏻

@@SerxMusic Absolutely Scratch and remove from Turtle Wax and a microfiber cloth will do the trick perfectly. I did both the neck and body, but I didn’t remove the hardware. It’s not necessary, but be mindful not to get the polish everywhere. A little goes a long way. The polish stays in the microfiber cloth and will still polish the finish, no need to add polish constantly.

Thank you Vasilis. It’s has perfect balance. This tele weighs 3,3 kg. It’s pretty rare that a telecaster will neckdive, I have yet to come across one that does. unless it’s featherlight at 2,4 kg, there might be a slight chance. But I wouldn’t worry.

@@vasilismaroulis1432 It plays great, mine resonates beautifully - even the low notes strummed acoustically are very prominent and alive. The neck is beefy, but it’s very comfortable and by no means difficult to play. I prefer bigger necks, and I have small’ish hands.

Btw - I have polished my roadworn tele with some ‘Turtle wax - scratch remover’ - I didn’t like that matte grubby finish. So just a little side note if you want to make it feel more premium. Just use a microfiber cloth. No need to take the whole guitar apart. Doesn’t take that long, I even gave the fretboard and headstock a touch up as well, made me even happier with the guitar.

What is the neck shape and thickness on this?
It’s a pretty large neck U shaped neck. I don’t have the guitar anymore, but Wildwood guitars tend to have neck dimensions written on their online shop.

@@seyfullahtunel3971 having owned multiple custom shop telecasters, I can only say that this one, is a lot of guitar for your money, it’s really good. Fit and Finish wise and attention to detail custom shop is on another level though. But it’s hard to justify spending 2500 euro more on a CS, when you get such incredible value from this road worn guitar.

@@nikolaj6385 I prefer chunkier necks, In my experience I think it does contribute to the tone. But of course there’s a lot of factors - I have played slimmer necks that sounded great too.

@@jimmycarter2760 I sold my road worn tele to get the American original, I haven’t tried the specials or performers. I like a tele as true to vintage spec as possible. I did like the road worn very much, so I wouldn’t sell it for a special or performer.
