Nice project man! Quick tip :- you can vibrate the air bubbles out of concrete with a palm/sheet sander held against the mold, I've also seen people reciprocating saw for this too although those can be a bit violent if not used with care.
Vid wasn't too long at all. You're super talented, both in the design of the the lamp and in the directing and editing of the video. Definitely going to be looking out for more of your videos!
Very well done! Im a woodshop instructor in San Jose looking to give my students a challenge after a brief electrical unit. I'll have a few teams giving this a try. Thanks.
Hi Patrick.. congratulations for your beautiful light. Someone in the comments may have mentioned, if you want the top or bottom of the concrete base to be smooth, you can use self levelling concrete. Keep up your fabulous work.
Nice Job! If you want a really smooth finish on the concrete you can use a (random) orbital sander without the sandpaper to vibrate all the bubbles out.
Don't be so down on your video making! (i.e. "messy" audio missing a step) 99% of the viewers wouldnt have noticed or cared until you brought it up. Amazing job! Great quality build and video!
Appreciate the feedback Micah! I was just trying to save my butt because I know how harsh the RUclips community can be when it comes to mistakes like that but yeah you're totally right! Thanks for watching bro! Pat
Cool design. One idea so that you can completely using a standard lightbulb is to use a colored LED strip and stick it to the bottom edge of the wood. May give the project a cooler look.
Omg! This lamp is bad ass! I would love it for my office! If you like doing concrete projects you should definitely enter the quick Crete contest they have going on.
Hi Leah! I gotta come up with a way to pick someone randomly haha. I got pretty excited for that competition until I read it's for redoing a walkway haha. Thanks for watching! -Pat
No chances are I read the wrong information haha, I must have come across an older competition. I'll have to look into it again. Thanks for the heads up Leah! Also, i'm sure your stepdad would love to teach you how to operate the table saw! Trust me, he'll love that you want to learn how to make stuff. Always be alert, know where your hands are relative to the blade, keep your material pinned to the fence and you're good to go! -Pat
Awesome project! I just subscribed to your channel. I'm looking forward to more videos! Just to suggest - I'm not sure how you stored the concrete overnight but if you cover it with plastic or a small towel and keep it in a warm place like a shed (you can keep a heater near it too if you're feeling wild) you'll be able to preserve the heat retention and moisture in order to allow for proper curing of the concrete so you can avoid it falling apart when you demold your piece. Also for smaller concrete projects if you take any power tool and hold it near your project to vibrate it, you can eliminate more air voids. Great work!!
Hi Lauren! The tips are much appreciated! This was my first time working with concrete and it was a lot of fun! I'll be sure to use a palm sander or something next time for the air bubbles as well as the plastic/small towel trick. Thank you for watching and thank you for the support! -Pat Soriano
Love the concept, I rewatched and don't think I'm crazy but you kind of glossed over the shade attachment :) I can see what's going on so not a big deal. Like the style its nice and quick.
Awesome! If you have any questions or need any help, don't hesitate to ask! I tried to keep the video short but because of that, I may have glossed over some steps. Thanks Raihan!
it would be nice to see a DIY wood headphone carrying case, I'm planning to do one, but I just don't know how, I have never seen one to buy, so here is an idea for you, also, awesome work!
Very nice! If you add a touch of isotopic alcohol to your mix it helps get rid of those pesky pin holes. Palm sanding the mold as you're pouring also helps (-:
You'll grow from strength to strength. Try doing collaborations with other youtubers. Although your design ability is way above the crowd. Have you thought of doing the quikcrete 1 bag challenge and what software do you use to edit and to show dimensions etc?
could you have used a piece of plexy glass resting on the top of the lightbulb attached to the inside of the shade to eliminate the wood support piece holding up the shade? great vid btw love your personality
Holy crap even your sketch of the lamp looks aesthetic af..font and everything. The lamp would match my room's monochrome vibe so much, I love it! Keep at it man!!
Awesome piece of DIY! Concrete is such a versatile and beautiful material. I like that the lamp looks floating from a 45 degree angle. Keep up the great work! I want to study product design and your channel is a gem!
You will love product design, it is the coolest career in the world haha. Looking at it from a 45 is my favorite too, thanks so much for watching and thanks for the support! -Pat
Much appreciated Daniel seriously it means a lot. The channel is slowly but surely growing, we'll get there one day! Thank you for watching and thank you for the support. -Pat
Hey dude it's all good! A lot can be done with some simple hand tools. Some products/projects I find very beautiful are just basic blocks and shapes with little details here and there. Run with what you have for now and in time you will acquire more tools to take your work to another level!
Patrick Soriano I attend Cedarville University which is a pretty small school in Ohio. The industrial design program is tiny with about thirty students a class. Recently, an article was published ranking the top industrial design programs in the nation. Somehow, my little university pulled a solid 5th best program in the nation. www.collegevaluesonline.com/rankings/industrial-design-degrees-top-undergraduate/
great vid & awesome lamp. I really like the rounded corners but how do you make it uniform from top to bottom and does that also solve making all four rounded corners uniform to each other? Thank you!
Hi Darcy! I would say it weighs around 8 pounds? Actually my furniture teacher was telling me to experiment with different sizes, I think a floor lamp would be a cool edition! Maybe we'll revisit this project in the future and do some design variations. Thanks for watching! -Pat
Great project, now that I am retired, I am looking forward to do your project to help me be busy, thanks for what you do, keep up the good job.
Nice project man!
Quick tip :- you can vibrate the air bubbles out of concrete with a palm/sheet sander held against the mold, I've also seen people reciprocating saw for this too although those can be a bit violent if not used with care.
sander is just right
haha thanks man, i just tried this. accidentally broke in half, but i super glued it. and now i have one with a little character!
Vid wasn't too long at all. You're super talented, both in the design of the the lamp and in the directing and editing of the video. Definitely going to be looking out for more of your videos!
Zoe Pearce Thanks Zoe! I've been slammed with school lately but I'll be uploading again very soon 😊
Totally agree Zoe!
Zoe Pearce super nice job. Good guidance on the build, keep the projects rolling!
Cool Projekt. I love builds with concrete because it has some kind of hipster look on it which I really like
love the contrast of the wood and the concrete
Very well done! Im a woodshop instructor in San Jose looking to give my students a challenge after a brief electrical unit. I'll have a few teams giving this a try. Thanks.

Hi Patrick.. congratulations for your beautiful light. Someone in the comments may have mentioned, if you want the top or bottom of the concrete base to be smooth, you can use self levelling concrete. Keep up your fabulous work.
This is a really interesting design also never thought about bluetooth lightbulbs before thanks for the video
It was real nice to "land" in your channel. Refreshing DIY videos, clean and beautiful useful ideas. Loved this LED lamp project.

Pat
That's kick ass. I am going to try this for my first concrete project.
Really cool! A brush coating of vegetable oil could work as a release agent too.
Dude the lamps you made at the start of this video are freeking AWESOME!!! WoW!! I could see them selling for a fortune in an up market store!
I would love to see the more rounded one...don't worry about length...if it's cool who cares! Well done!
Patrick...this is more than just ,,a cool Design,, . Wowhh...Make a Business with that.
I like the design concept of the Lamp, it is such a cool lamp. and have a nice day.
nice job on the lamp good mix of wood and concrete
Cool design. One idea so that you can completely using a standard lightbulb is to use a colored LED strip and stick it to the bottom edge of the wood. May give the project a cooler look.
I agree an LED strip would look awesome! We'll have to revisit this lamp, v2.0 haha! Thanks for watching
-Pat

Very nice. I hove how the two halves mirror each other even thought they are made from contrasting materials.
Dude. Killer design. 5/5. Well done. You're going places.
Much appreciated Jeremy! Thanks for watching!
-Pat

Looks awesome. If you have an extra send this way, my son would love this.

Schönes Video, freut mich, dass Du alles so toll zeigst. Wieder mal ein gutes Projekt zum nachmachen. Für Dich einen „Daumen hoch“
this lamp really is awesome you are really talented
Got to admit, I really love it... I see you have a few request already for it. So I will watch it a few more times.
I like what you did, wondering what would it look like if we used some colourful resin instead of concrete. thanks for video.
Love the concept, I rewatched and don't think I'm crazy but you kind of glossed over the shade attachment :) I can see what's going on so not a big deal. Like the style its nice and quick.

would love this lamp dude. super cool and that bulb would be cool but maybe one of those Bluetooth bulbs would be even better
love the look of the lamp
In a sea of substandard lamp making videos, yours seems almost out of place.. Smooth flow with a very pleasant presence..Very nicely done...
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching!
-Pat
Please include more of your process/concept sketches in future... or maybe a separate video with just sketches, they're great :-)

If you hold a vibrating palm sander against the mold it will help the concrete settle and get the air pockets out very well.
Thank you so much..you instructions were crystal clear and crucially succinct. Lamp look ace 👌🏽.. pls post it to UK. Lol
Holy crap even your sketch of the lamp looks aesthetic af..font and everything. The lamp would match my room's monochrome vibe so much, I love it! Keep at it man!!
Hahaha thanks man! Unfortunately this project is long gone but there will definitely be more in the near future I promise you that!

Awesome job! I'd love the lamp. If i don't win I'll try to build it :)
Very cool lamp. Just curious - how much does it weigh? Would you consider making a larger one for a floor lamp? Not solid concrete of course.
Hi Darcy! I would say it weighs around 8 pounds? Actually my furniture teacher was telling me to experiment with different sizes, I think a floor lamp would be a cool edition! Maybe we'll revisit this project in the future and do some design variations. Thanks for watching!
