My neighbor move there and was the owner of the Ocean View Motel and i would come from Houston in my youth and spend the somers there fishing and loving the beach....Had to help clean and make the beds though and fished with a cane pole....
I haven't been fishing since my dad died maybe 7-8 years ago. We fished off the S Jetty and were hooking 35+" reds all day. Your videos make me want to buy a kayak some day and continue to go fishing. Checking out some buggs fishing lures right now.
You did not fish close enough to the rocks, in Oct on that jetty, you need to get close to where the rocks and sand meet. Those fish do no travel back and forth from the rocks, they run parallel looking for shrimp that likes to lay on those rocks. One day at Yacht Basin, I was pulling up to launch, I see this truck still on the ramp, a yak was sideways on the ramp but I could not see anyone, thought the guy was in his truck. I waited and waited, it's been 5 minutes and not sure where this guy is at, I got out of my truck his yak was drifting out because a tug boat was passing, walk up to the ramp and see this dude out "COLD!" laying by rocks, first thing I did, looked at his footwear and started laughing. He was wearing these slippers that looked like tennis shoes, I was like WTF! What a mess, I was no rush , thought he was dead, left him laying there went back to my truck and another truck had pulled up and was wondering why the yak halfway out with the truck still on the ramp. I told him to go look on the ramp by rocks, told him I had to call 911, as I was getting ready to call 911, the guy finally got up, had a big gash on his head was bleeding LOL!. I gave him a towel, ask if he was okay, the other guy got his yak with a rope. I asked him, "What the hell were you thinking launching on this ramp with those tennis shoes" His reply, that was the only water shoe he had. LOL! I should have left him for dead.
Where did yall launch off at ? 🥺 i been trying to catch some reds on lures. Been a bass angler for about 3 years now. Only caught trout on down south but i wanna catch sum reds
Great video, Nick. Before it gets any cooler/colder I"m gonna try that area in my Solo Skiff before the water level drops any further. Thx for sharing.

Appreciate your videos. So you don't eat fish in the Galveston area or Houston area because of the water mutation? Very curious on your thoughts?

There aren't any crocodiles but there are a ton of alligators back there

I'll give you a hint: it was close to rollover
The notch on the red’s tail was most likely caused by a propeller.
Great vid, Nick. Love how that last Red hit when you were spacing off.
dude yaks have trolling motors in the front now, what brand so I can look it up?
