So glad to hear that I am not the only one who starts a picture and doesn't have every color decided, sorted and ready to go!! I find it fun to "just wing it" sometimes and see where inspiration takes me. Of course I am purely a beginner, so it's all fun! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I Love to colour in adult colouring books because of how much detail they have in them in each picture which makes you to get your colouring pencils and start colouring in your colouring book. It is like you are addicted to it.
    Happy Colouring!

I just want to say that I am a huge fan of your videos. I color as a form of art therapy due to PTSD and sometimes I get too anxious to color. But then I watch your videos and the way you explain things somehow calms me down enough for me to enjoy it! Please continue to make videos, I love the tutorials!

Thank you for the time and effort you put into passing on your artistic talents to the masses. I appreciate that you do the videos in real time, it makes it a lot easier to follow and take in it would be great if you could do more of them, I am sure I would not be the only one that would be watching them repeatedly.

Never thought id be doing this :). I'm hooked, 47 year old man coloring. Love these tutorials , should do a part 2 and 3 and so on for this picture. I've learnt a lot of things because of you. I find its starting to be a great relaxing hobby for my spare time. I've bought pencils blending pencil sharpeners books the lot ) , keep up the good work :)

Isn't it brilliant! I'm 30 and I love it too! I've actually been surprised by how relaxing it can be and how much I've taken to it. Keep up the colouring in! We all need a hobby for our spare time and this is a really good one I've found! I find even on days I can't be bothered it isn't too difficult to pick up a colouring book. I love my colouring books! I've collected ten beautiful books so far and have lots of coloured pens and pencils it's great :-D

I am going on 56 next month. I just started this adult coloring around Christmas last year, and I'm still learning. I have spent so much money on pencils and watercolor pencils, and most of the tutorials I come across on you tube are great, but this is one of the very best. I especially love this one and I loved the one where she uses the inktense pencils. I have definitely become ocd. I hate it when a person does a video and says I don't want to bore you by coloring this in so they turn the camera off and come back after they have colored some of the picture. Also the speed of this video is great, I would agree with you Steve, I would love to see a part 2 and 3 of this picture being done. Thank you so much Peta for doin such wonderful and informative videos. Now if someone knows of a really good watercolor painting tutorial please let me know. Thanks have a great day everyone!

30, 47, 56? Pffftt. You're all mere children. I will be 70 in 4 months and I am hopelessly hooked on adult coloring books. Is there a web site that is a compilation of pages done by different people? I would love to see what others have done.

I am brand new to adult coloring and have pulled out my set of Berol Prismacolors that I bought in the mid 90s for a colored pencil class I took beck then and hadn’t touched since. Very helpful to watch you work slowly. Also extremely helpful listening to your thought process. I watch your videos over and over again. I will watch, and then go color for a while and then watch again and go color again. Also I enjoy seeing your finished pieces as your color choices are more brave than my conservative thinking. I used the colors from the trees in your first 2 page Enchanted Forest where you used grays, mauve and tans and browns for my first 2 page spread in the Secret Garden and love the result. Also just got The 2nd book by Millie Marotta Tropical World and like it even more than her Animal Kingdom, if you can believe that!

I absolutely adore your videos! You have given me an entirely new style of coloring! I have to buy all three Johanna Basford books and the Polychromos pencils just to play along. I've been a diehard Prismacolor artist but honestly I'm so tired of the breakage and these colored pencils are truly a dream!! I have found another set call Caran D'ashe Luminance pencil that have a slightly chalky finish that also adore and I cannot wait to add them to my new color stash! Your coring style is just beautiful and your ability to draw is amazing! You need to create your own clothing books! I would definitely buy them! I would love to see more real time videos as well as the speed ones. I would also love to see you reference book (you may have already shown it and I'm a dufus and haven't found it yet), but I think those are so very helpful! I just love your work so please keep up your videos!!

For the sharpener by the way, I have one from Bruynzeel, a Dutch brand which has one for ordinary pencils and one hole for coloring pencils. That one is a little bit larger, your point goes in further and it takes as little as possible of your pencils. It's, to me, the best sharpener I've ever seen.

I love your work and I like the slow pace and explaining why you do things to make sense out of it. I can't find the first part of this or is there one and are you going to to part 1234 and so on I hope so. I love your fox I don't know if I'm at that level yet but I'm going to try. Are you going to finish this I sure hope so. You give me insight, inspiration, knowledge, your patient, have a great soft spoken voice and you also give me laughter especially when you speak about a picture like your fox and you hope it doesn't get your poor bunny and my favorite is about the way you speak about your poor ivory pencil and how your not giving up on it just yet, you show how much you care and love your pictures and it brings it out on me. Please do more especially with the Johanna basfords collection. You are my biggest fan and you have taught me a lot in a short period of time. Thank you!!

Of course I love your fox. I am so pleased with the step by step pictures it helps some. Also thanks so much for all your videos watch them all sometimes twice on some, my favourite was the live tectorial of the pond, I was amazed that I was able to come out with a great outcome like that and it was all because of you, thanks for your time as well as great teaching skills, it doesn't go unnoticed by all. I do hope you will consider more live tutorials. I bought the lost ocean I know nothing about fish or water scenes and it would be great if you could walk us through something like that. Love this, am enjoying it very much. I am currently working on the first 2 pages spread from Secret Garden and it's my 3rd day on it and haven't even gotten the top leaves and flowers done, the tree in the middle is done, started with that one. So yeah, it takes a long time to do these. As for colors? With these books I let my imagination go wild and color whatever I like and think fits together, pink and purple leaves, brown leaves, blue tree, etc. Haven't decided on the background yet, but I like your idea of drawing in some bushes behind very much, i was allready thinking of green at the bottom op to yellow, orange and red for the sky, but I think I'll put in some bushes or something too.

+Astrid S I think adding some simple back ground like bushes and mountains helps to give the picture a three dimensional feel. Also it's a great way to fill up all that blank space. :)

I know this is an old video, but re. 8:45 - one recommendation I have for colour palettes is to use Adobe Color CC alongside a stock photo database (Adobe Stock, Pexels, etc.). Color CC is /amazing/ for pulling together a palette, and allows you to not only upload a photo and get a color swatch from that, but you can choose from premade swatch 'types' (bright, dark, etc.) but also drag and drop on the image to customise your choice. If you see an image that you go "wow, I really like the colours on that", upload to Adobe Color CC, adjust your choices, and you have a quick color palette to use :)

What a fantastic idea. I'm going to give that a try with some of the colour reference photos i take.

Love the little fox. It's sometimes fun to buy cheap children's colouring books and add details to them, turning the images into something more like grown up colouring pages.
