The garage looks amazing. I'm so happy you finally got to build one. That shot of Paige with the screwdriver in hand is priceless. I do wish things were better for you and you were more appreciated. Truck drivers keep this country going. Thank you for doing what you do and for the great ride. I love this time of year with harvest going. Safe travels, and God bless.
That man cave is really shaping up. I am glad Uber-dad let you park the dually in there for the time being! Watching these videos and listening to load/unload times is crazy. Back in the 60’s when I would go with my dad on the truck, they had 30 minutes to get the truck loaded or unloaded. Things were different back then. The loads were all palletized and the drom box and the trailer were roller equipped. The freight was pulled to the back of the trailer and either taken off at ground level or onto the dock. The truck was set up so no fork lifts would enter the trailer. Sometimes they would use 2 fork lifts to keep things moving. All the freight was empty containers, 1 gallon milk jugs, aluminum cans, bubble wrap, no weight to the loads, just a lot of bulk. 19 foot drom behind a 54” cab over and a 38 foot trailer, all within 65 foot overall. The configuration of the truck was the same as auto carriers of today with the stinger that held the 5th wheel, 24” behind the last drive axle to the king pin. Very odd configuration, but it worked.
The garage looks great. And I love watching Alice and Martin. I agree 💯 Martin is a great mechanic. It was nice to see California again. You seem to have a lot on your mind. I hope all goes well with you. OH and tater great job on the grill.
The garage is super nice and the side door is a great asset ( sweet ). California & truck looks great also 👍 Opie and his all important cheeseburger. Lol Kurt sorry to see your in the doghouse.
Great video! Im sure you already thought of it, but when you start 1st Class, that soot from your stack is gonna spray your new siding on the garage. Maybe throw a bucket on it. Safe travels!
Can make a shit load of money pulling a hopper bottom. But you can also go broke in a hurry. They don't call em welfare wagon for nothing. Been doing it 15 years and that's my jam. But you also gotta be willing to haul commodities. Not just grain.
I will never haul a Box or reefer trailer , Im flatdeck and flatdeck b trains ONLY. Kurt the Garage is beautiful , Loving the new grill , cant wait to see what ya decide to haul once your done with Reefer, side note Im thinking I may get into cattle hauling who knows though , give Opie a hug and be safe brother
Nice garage, Kurt. I like that style side door with the glass. That’s what I wanted and my contractor talked me out of it. Said that would just give a thief an easier way of getting in lol. I told him if they want in they will get in one way or another lol. Great video. Thanks for sharing. We’ll catch you on the next one.
Uber Dad and Uber Mom did a excellent job on the garage 👍 Talking to California really makes ya think 💭 thank you for showing my bridge again in Peoria 😃 sitting here recovering from my root canal I had today .. saying “Hi” to the family 👋🦮🐕🦺🐕🦺 Give that poor puppy his burger 🍔 😊😂❤
Thanks for sharing Kurt. New garage looks Great! Remember the grass always appears greener somewhere else, until you get there. I also like U tuber "The Dirty Trucker" he pulls hopper bottom I believe several states, ARK,TX,MO, IN. He claims the rates are decent, but he works for it, loading/unloading hoppers, wash outs, and some of the facilities are not for the faint of hart to get in and out. Reefer rates along with most all freight has tanked. The only decent rates are loads that know one wants to take because usually it's to hard to get in and out of the property. Hang in there Driver, It will get better. TGP
Kurt I remember you talking about doing Hopper, it was either earlier this year or late last year, either way it's your call, staying close to home is an option, but you gotta be able to make that allmighty $$$$$. Either way You Sir and your side kick Safe travels.
It really is a great community. Although some of us know each other better than others, there’s still a level of camaraderie between us and respect between us as well.
Ya I’m in Dexter mn 63yrs old own truck & trailer (conistoga) leased to D&E . Ten acres 1/2 mi off I90 ex 189 80x60 lined insulated shop. Ok house .ya I’m done anyone wanting to buy it ?
A lot of progress on the garage, looking nice 👍 What's your favorite breakfast cereal?Mine is raisin bran, post if I can find it but it's Kellogg raisin bran with just a little bit of sugar.😊
Big Difference between being a company driver and a O/O !!! Nothing wrong with being a company driver I was one too. But there's a Big difference in being an O/O!!!! Everything comes out of your pocket as a O/O !! Someone needs to send him a break down from truck payment just for the truck!! Then you can start at home!!! You and your Family be Blessed!!!
I pulled hopper otr. Loved it. Trip mileage was around 500 or less per load. Company I pulled for was great for getting me detention time as well. Easy pulling, just can be a very dirty job with some commodities
Good evening Kurt thanks for the video and all that you do.Hope all goes well with Kalifornia and all other truckers.I think when I get my cdl I'm going to run loads like you at night time think all truckers should run at 6pm to 6am so that way less accidents between truckers and others just my opinion well until the next one keep the videos coming and stay safe out on the highway
That is usually my preferred time to run also. However, del. schedule might not allow you to do it as often as you would like. You get anlate morning or afternoon drop or p/u, you are kinda forced to make your runs during the daytime.
I’ve told you before, Kurt, hazmat is where it’s at. A buddy is an o/o who has a local gig. He does 3 28 mile round trips per day, and it pays $300 per load plus fuel surcharge. For a while I was working for the company that he’s leased to as a company driver. I get paid percentage and still make $100 per load. That’s not bad for a few hours work.
I have a young friend that had some money left to him from one of his granddad's. I believe he is 29 years old. He and his dad have been collecting junk for years. His dad passed a few years ago from an accident on a farm tractor leaving him with his mother and one sister. Three years ago he bought his first W900 day truck with tri-axle. He loves hauling equipment and at this time is killing it due to all the interstate construction in our city. He works his ass off and when they call, he is hauling anything from barrier wall to cranes and anything in between. The boy is damn good. His W9 had a Cummins, his favorite engine. Just over a year he purchased another tractor. Pete this time with a CAT under the hood. Not long after he bought the Pete, bam goes the Cummings lower end damage. At the time he has put off rebuilding the Cummins and everyday he is talking about the junk CAT. Not as much power as the Cummins. He has had some problems with the CAT in the injector area. I think it is a combo of the two. Love for the Cummins and ticked off it is not running. I keep telling him the CAT is my choice. Just might need a little work to get more power. Either way, he will get it done. He told me the other day he hopes to get the Cummins rebuilt in January. I have never seen anyone love the smell of diesel fuel like Mike. He just loves heavy hauling. When not hauling with the lowboy, he also has a stick hauler and a dump trailer. I told him several times. Make while you are young and bank every dime you can. For me, CAT is the way to go. Actually, I have never had a truck with a CAT. I am an operator of heavy equipment.
Key kurt, I know what will keep you happy trucking... Do what YOU want to do. On the plus side with the reefer, you're not in and out of grocery warehouses with your gig. Garage looks great, I expect to see you out there alot. Can't wait for deer season stories. Be safe, I'm headed to Phoenix out of Pa tomorrow. BTW, did you change out the white dash bulbs for red? If so does KW have a change over #?
Is the Hopper seasonal? Been there done that, always wondering if there was going to be work when it go slow. The country always needs food via refer.... I dont know. Hang in there the economy will turn around eventually. Best part on your end, No Truck Payments!
Question , why didn't you make enough room for the big truck ? Maybe the truck wouldn't freeze out like this past winter in the garage when you forget to leave it run .
Congratulations on your daughter scholarship god bless brother to you and your family stay safe 🙏
The garage looks amazing. I'm so happy you finally got to build one. That shot of Paige with the screwdriver in hand is priceless. I do wish things were better for you and you were more appreciated. It's a beautiful time of year I agree.

Wow.....
California, pulling a hopper bottom. I never expected that.
There's a reason the hoppers are called welfare wagons....
@jti2007 If done right, there is a lot more money in hopper than reefer.
Hahahahah…love the Doctor Martin of the Engine type comment …he is awesome …love his rebuild videos ….and awesome garage you have Kurt 👍

I like what you did with the garage door opener safety devices. Great minds think alike.
They annoyed me.

York Nebraska... just go three towns south on hwy 81.. Geneva that's my birthplace.. I haven't been back in over 30 yrs... I live in Arizona
I can’t blame him. These reefer rates are just ridiculous. Never thought I’d see the day where reefer rates are lower than dry box.
G😊reat looking garage! B4 too long time it will be time to change the clocks back to standard time again.
love the shop you deserve it
Congratulations on your new garage.

It really is a great community. Although some of us know each other better than others, there’s still a level of camaraderie between us and respect between us as well.
Haaa that’s so funny I had my daughter when she was twelve do the same thing…awesome.
Ya I’m in Dexter mn 63yrs old own truck & trailer (conistoga) leased to D&E . Ten acres 1/2 mi off I90 ex 189 80x60 lined insulated shop. Ok house .ya I’m done anyone wanting to buy it ?

Home Depot has 1000 watt screw in lanterns. I put them in my garage. Neighbors came over. They like.
I pulled hopper otr. Loved it. Trip mileage was around 500 or less per load. Company I pulled for was great for getting me detention time as well. Easy pulling, just can be a very dirty job with some commodities
you should stand In the middle of the steps. Then Opie can't jump, from step 2 from the truck, and if he try, you can guide him to use all steps
so lets smell the milk after we pour it into the bowl and not before, lol.
Now you will see a lot of hopper bottoms going by. Could be a sign.
My Brother in Law pulled hopper bottom & run loads for a company out of Omaha NE stay West Mississippi most of the time.
Hay Kurt
Good evening Kurt thanks for the video and all that you do.Hope all goes well with Kalifornia and all other truckers.I think when I get my cdl I'm going to run loads like you at night time think all truckers should run at 6pm to 6am so that way less accidents between truckers and others just my opinion well until the next one keep the videos coming and stay safe out on the highway

Sioux City always has high fuel prices.
Lol, Pull A Martin lol!!
Opie behind the wheel grabbing gears...😭
Sometimes you have to make the decisions for yourself
I was pretty happy when I found fuel for $3.58 in Georgia earlier this week
I'd like that as well
Hey Kurt I don't think Sarah would let you go over the road be safe say hi to your family for me

Yes, just took the white out and put red in. Warning, it gets hard to see the needles with red.
@truckingwithschmidt7120 Needles? We don't need no stinking needles. Thank goodness it's old like me and has needles.
But garage looks gorgeous.
side garage door, is called a "man door," the technical term😮
should have wired two work, spot lights on the side for your semi.
There going in soon. The wires are there and the switches are in. Just gotta put the lights in.
Hi kurt how are you
SMELL the milk before you pour lmao
Well, now I want some Fruity Pebbles!
It’s not your first time reconsidering the freezer box, maybe it’s time?
Hello Opie 🍔🍔 👍✌

There's yr round wrk in Hopper Trailers!!!!!!!
Year around
What’s the size of your garage and and what type of ceiling lights did you put in..?
U should get into f Lt bed's halling like super trucker Dan
Have you bought those stairs for fart box????
Question , why didn't you make enough room for the big truck ? Maybe the truck wouldn't freeze out like this past winter in the garage when you forget to leave it run .
Didn't have enough money to.
The garage looks really nice. Did you put in a couple of plugs on the outside in case you have to plug in the truck or a battery charger?
Yes
Will the new garage floor have a covering to catch oil from the trucks?
Yes
I love hamburger, and shredded wheat kinda big but toofu no thanks.
But dad I want a cheeseburger
