    Many insights 👍
I think a good framework of understanding, especially for people who are the detached/cerebral type, is recognizing that the human norm is an emotional reaction, much more than an intellectual reaction.
This is exacerbated in group behavior. Most people want to feel secure in their belonging and acceptance and will play along the tribal game.
The barrier to entry of intellectual rigor is recognizing how limited your understanding is and having the ego exposed & vulnerable as a consequence. Most people can’t let go of that shield(fear, pride, the judgment of others & many other reasons)
This is why the ability of practicing detachment from your emotional charge is a crucial skill to cultivate in order to develop clarity. The first step is being clear and aware of that emotional charge, which is not a given for many.

Didn't expect this deep of a conversation. Was mostly curious about DDR (too young and living too rural to have experienced it).
I feel like my opinions are very similar, though not as well developed. Gonna go to university this year, that's probably going to be an interesting time for these kind of conversations.
And I'll make sure I'll do some drunk one on one walks - did a few with my friends and had some deep talks about similar topics. Was really fun, looking forward to doing it with people I don't know that much.

I have extreme views contrary to the left, but I'm very sympathetic to leftists and I admire the moral integrity and dignity leftists can sometimes exhibit in their political stances, particularly against capitalism. I was wondering if I could debate you privately since you mentioned you get a little uncomfortable about potentially platforming harmful ideas? I am very willing to change my mind here.

My city has a legend that goes like if your bike is stolen take the one next to it, you never have to walk if you just take one of the bikes. That's why all the scooters are buried under the local river. They are handled like old bikes and no one can repair them that easily so they died out naturally...

33:00 That's why my country has a ideological (political) middle that is kind of defensive of their position
34:00 That surface level of kindness and pretended happiness, not to offend anybody is as rude... At least from my view.
Change minds with kindergarten tactics of arguments doesn't help. Why even bother with that, everybody can call me an asshole I don't have to oppose him so people will listen at the first place. Maybe I don't get the topic or the mental state but fuck that I don't debate to hear the newest slurs...
35:00 I'm a radical. Just that. Vandalism, mayhem but never political, that would be terrorism.
36:00 I hate communism for what it has done to my family. The propaganda deep burned in my grandparent head even they can't stand any government at all, they talk like from an old friend of their abuse, food shortage and punishment for under-consumption (spilled hundred of litres of diesel, milk and oil because of that).

After watching your splines video and this one I felt compelled to letting you know where we all come from.
So why are so many people stupid? Actually they are not, they are psychotic.
Children are the deep rooted, genetical meaning of life (of course) and that includes all children whether they are your own biological children or not because we are a social species. Aggression has been suppressed via mating preferences to such an extent and for such prolonged periods of time, by our female ancestry in order to protect the children, that it has been manifested in our genes and thereby in our instincts, through millions of years of adaptation (probably for around 7 million years). This is our genetical heritage from before we became human and bit the apple in the garden of Eden. The human instinctive behavior is not the problem and i will describe why!
Homo Sapiens Psychosis and why it was inevitable - but luckily it's also curable.
We are a psychotic species due to the evolution of exceptional cognitive capabilities and not knowing our instinctive roots. The biological evolution, of a rational thinking capable species from a primate ancestor by random mutation, which adds this ability to think to an already existing autonomous brain, will not be aware of its coexistence with the preexisting - mostly instinctive - autonomous primate brain. As the primate brain had already established all the capabilities to control the entirety of the organism/body and reproduction, the thinking capable addition, to this preexisting genetically programed control system, will try to modify the behavior of the instinctive brain without knowing that it does so - and during this instinctive behavior alterations- it will be upsetting the instinctive brain that now senses the lack of control and responds with stress or some feeling of disempowerment. The cognitive neurons will sense these stress signals without understanding the underlying issue and interpret it as doing something wrong without understanding the reason why or the source of the stress. This can be described as a conflict between two parts of the same brain where none of the participants knows about the existence of each other and in essence its a psychosis. As the cognitive neurons develop culturally by building civilizations with other individuals in this new species, the separation between the instinctive- and the cognitive brain functions will accumulate and become more and more severe - more and more psychotic. As the ability to think, self reflect and self correct is almost exclusively limited to the conscious neurons we will not be able to elleviate or get rid of this upset state until we one day - in cooperation with other individuals of this new species - find an understanding of this underlying reason for the stress that causes varying degrees of psychosis. The amount of psychosis is of course related to the family and environment that the child is raised in and how loving, cooperative, non-aggressive and nurturing it is because our instinctive primate brain was all about taking care of the children and non-aggressive behavior. This also means that the more egocentric, non-caring and violent the adolescence environment is, the more it will give raise to children not being able to understanding what is happening inside their mind - not understanding why everybody behaves so destructive when they feel like we were meant to be better than that, instinctively. The only option for removing the accumulating psychotic behavior - that seems to be resulting in a path toward self destruction - is for these poor creatures to understand that they are all more or less psychotic and the reason why this was basically unavoidable as a consequence of becoming conscious through random mutation.
Now that we are so lucky to have made it through 2 million years of accumulating psychosis, without destroying ourselves completely, and have arrived at a culturally developed stage where we have acquired enough knowledge about evolution, selection through mutation, genetics and an overall understanding of neurons and the brain, we can finally begin to answer the question about who we really are deep inside ourselves. We can finally do something about our psychotic behavior, based on understanding of our unavoidable troubled past, because psychosis can be healed through understanding.
There is one important thing to pay attention to in regards to our primate ancestors and that is the lack of canines. Genes are selfish so how can it be explained that our ancestors lost the magnificent weapons for aggressive behavior, the canines? The answer to this question is that the only thing that mattered for the selfish female matriarchal ancestors was the survival of their offspring and therefore aggressive males were not considered for mating, which meant that slowly through 5 million years of evolution before the arrival of thinking capable humans, all of the offspring lost their canines because males with the least aggressive behavior (and smallest canines) were considered the most child-safe partners by the females. To see this in action today we should look at our closest living cousin that we are 98.7% genetically identical to - the bonobo that is living at the shores of the Congo river and not the chimpanzee.
Now we can also begin to explain why religion was invented all over human civilization and that God, or Adam an Eve, is our non-aggressive ancestors and why adolescence is such a scary experience, because during adolescence our children has to experience 2 million years of cultural divergence from our original instinctive behavior - in a time span of only few decades.
Our children has to learn about this very plausible, non-condemning theory/understanding so they don't have to go through endless pain and guilt about who they are and why the world looks so bizarre from the viewpoint of their cooperating, nurturing and selfless instincts that they are born with. This innocence quickly though becomes challenged by the observations of their cognitive neurons and thereby the psychosis begins.
I will strongly recommend that we learn about this evolutionary theory so that we can prevent self destruction by aligning our cognition/thinking with our instincts and recognize that we are all more or less in pain and we need to help and understand ourselves and thereby others, for this evolutionary suffering we had to go through in order to be a truely enlightened species that can live in peace, harmony and mutual prosperity.

@@acegikmo did the person directly tell someone to f off or say f you or say to someone they are an xyz? If not and they are putting their view across in political debate regardless of whether you find it good or bad it's the right place to intellectually debate it. What I see on your server is immediate character investigation of the person with the view or thoughts and you jump to judgements and emotional defence in response and ban them which is the definition of the intolerant left / right mentality. Its almost absurd to suggest you enioy debate when you create an echo chamber by removing people who question anything from the acceptable. You even questioned your action on banning someone once on twitter I believe.
Equally people might put thoughts across for intellectual discussion because it makes an interesting discussing and doesn't directly mean that person believes it as a core tenet of their life, so judging someone who might be trying to muse themselves in ideas is misguided. I can only presume you did not take philosophy or politics at university or involve yourself in debate events, where you are encouraged to take a stance you might not even believe in but do it for the joy of mental excercise and debate.

@@WelshGuitarDude Because running and moderating a discord server with a public channel open to everyone is not the same thing as having a 1 on 1 debate, or a staged debate, or "just an intellectual discussion". If you want to "just ask questions" about whether or not 50% of my discord community deserve to live, I will eject you from the community very quickly, no matter if you're on the left or the right, because my discord isn't a place for hurting people by pretending politics is just about intellectual debate in a vacuum that doesn't affect people. You're very much conflating my personal views on interpersonal debate vs how we moderate my discord
now, you still haven't said what case you're talking about, but, judging by the last two bans -
Did the person directly attack someone? not really
Did they express views that indirectly are harmful to a lot of the people we have in my server? yes, and, stuck to it, and, therefore, I don't want them hurting my community. That's it. My community isn't a neutral arena to test ideas, no matter how harmful they are, because it's just not the place for it, and I have every right to moderate it that way
but again, if you want to debate this on stream with me let me know! I'll happily defend my actions and statements (and if so, please bring the specific example you're talking about instead of all this vagueness)
