    Ronda brought a lot of female students to my judo class, she deserves respect for inspiring woman and girls to take up the art.

    If she had a well timed double leg like GSP. Man she would’ve been unstoppable. Oh and also a real striking coach (not Edmund Taverwhaterver).

      Agreed, her striking coach was her biggest downfall

      Not even, she just needed some cage cutting footwork at distance and a low kick she could close in behind

      She didn't need anymore grappling, she just needed a decent coach with a proven record at high level.

    The reality is, her own mother told her she wasn’t training correctly and needed a new coach. Ronda didn’t do it. She then started to believe the hype and was focused on getting the role in Captain Marvel. She was not getting ready for the fight. What happened cost her millions of dollars. But that’s the truth

    This also glosses over the fact that Holly Holmes is an absolute nightmare stylistically for Ronda Rousey. Someone with great footwork, an excellent clinch and elite level striking. Rhonda was absolutely a one-trick pony and had no plan b. She was such an elite level athlete, she was able to get away with it but then she ran into someone who was just as athletic as she is but with more tools.

    Ronda deserves respect for developing women's MMA and getting in the cage. It's just unfortunate that she didn't listen to her mom and realise that Ed was a goose and a fraud of a fight trainer.

    You've got to do a video on Gokor Chivichyan. Listen to his episode on the Jiu Jitsu times podcast. Trust me you will learn a lot of interesting facts about Judo and where you learnt his ground game and how he interacted with BJJ

    As others have stated, Edmond Tarverdyan was the issue. Rousey's striking just wasn't up to par, and Tarverdyan should have coached her around that. On the other hand, I follow her Instagram account, and she seems much happier now, with her cool farm. So, maybe things worked out for the best.

    There is a huge gap that is never mentioned on Ronda’s training. It’s was never mentioned of where & why she was so good. This was developed in her years from early teens to adult. I am fucking amazed throughout her ufc championship run & anytime after not one mention! The most over looked reason of why she became what she was.

    Had she had a Duane Ludwig or a Trevor Wittman as her striking coach, and a solid wrestling coach to help her work on folk style, she would have been fucking unstoppable

    Everyone told her she was the mike tyson of mma, when she actually met a mike tyson of mma her ego got her KO'd. Boxing defense with an emphasis on a strong clinch game would have found her success against better elite striker wrestlers. Fedor found great success with a boxing and judo heavy game so judo and boxing are a good mix. Yes Fedor was a sambist too but his judo and boxing found him success in that not double legs and leg locks.

    IMO the problem with Ronda is that she never evolved into a mix martial artist, she stayed a Judoka from the start to all the way to the end. If she had had a good coach she would have been a better fighter, I would say Edmond never added anything but false believes in Ronda about her stand up game.

      Khabib made some great judo throws too. But for a throw and a lightning fast submission Ronda was the best.

    Valentina Shevchnko and Kayla Harrison is the only female MMA fighter with judo skills. I am more interested in Valentina's fight now, she is real smart fighter with solid striking skill, something Ronda is lacking

    I like ronda and yes a double would have been fun but she didn’t need it. Fighting is a head game, and when your head gets messed with physically and mentally it’s hard to come back from, however The biggest failure during this period is not from Rhonda. Rhonda did great! And to say otherwise is really not understanding the fight game, especially at level. The biggest failure Is from Judo, or IJF and other dojo’s and not recognizing UFC fighters and cross promoting. Don’t know how infuriating it was to explain to people she is not BJJ but judo, and listen to them say but judo doesn’t work. Now Kayla is going to the top and crickets from judo groups, like she doesn’t exist. BJJ does not fail in this aspect. They thrive.

    • @chrischiang1512

      So far i think judo is being recognized as a legit martial art that work, i didn't see people would say judo doesnt work, how can it not work when Masahiko Kimura proved that he can defeat Helio Gracie

    • @blitzthekraken9832
      @blitzthekraken9832 3 года назад +1

      @@chrischiang1512 What I’m trying to explain is to keep Judo relevant and fresh, one must constantly promote not only inside the infrastructure of its organization but outside the organization with other organizations. Judo is big, but the the UFC is now the big kid on the block surpassing all. You need to learn how to promote with the big kids on the block, or you miss out on the young kids. Judo misses point in this area where BJJ thrives. If you have a Judoka with a belt, that should be promoted in every which way. BBJ clubs literally hang pictures up of all their UFC stars to attract attention of the kids. I beg kids to join Judo and I believe it’s a great base for kidos and they should learn it, but that is cause I know more about martial arts, still I’ve only converted two kids to judo from BJJ. And it was not easy. however you want a club with a good sales pitch for a parent put a UFC poster on the dojo so kids and parents can ask questions and I can stop begging kids like a popper in the street. The Olympics and Worlds just based on viewership is taking a huge back seat to MMA at some point I believe Judo needs to get serious and wake up. Sigh…even point karate plasters MVP posters everywhere, along with wonder boy pictures. Kidos want belts, not medals now a days.

    • @chrischiang1512
      @chrischiang1512 3 года назад +1

      @@blitzthekraken9832 agree with you, judo or the traditional martial arts are lacking promotion. The whole world trend of judo is dropping sooner or later BJJ will overtake Judo in popularity. Google trend is an interesting tool to show that statistics.

      Ding ding ding, Judo should have learned from Jiujitsu but they didn't. All their efforts are trying to compete in the Olympics, they think winning medals will bring more people to Judo.
