Cliff, great video! A 12v rv tank heater with those lifepo4 batteries set inside an old cooler is a nice addition to protect them from use at temps below 32°l
One addition you could make to your electrical system is running 12v from the trailer running lights to the battery, with a battery isolator in between. This way while the truck is running, as long as your lights are on, the tow vehicle will charge the trailer battery. The isolator prevents the trailer from ever draining the vehicle battery.
Love the videos, always real. 2# Spray foam underneath and inside prior to build out will make if more energy efficient for sleeping in and make if stronger going down the road.
I've completely redone my " hunting cabin on wheels" twice now. Definitely learning by trial and error, but it's really nice to have and definitely better than a 30k " toy trailer" rv
You should get an iceco 12v fridge with a dan foss compressor in that thing. I built my truck camper and put thier larger dual zone chest style one in it. Can set both sides to fridge or freezer. Great for hauling groceries without the hassle of ice, or if you have large coolers for game ect you can freeze a bunch of water bottles and cycle them into the coolers as they melt. Either way I havent bought ice in years, barely uses any battery as long as they are kept full for thermal mass (they run constantly when empty). They are built out of sheet metal like the old Coleman coolers with latch lids for staying closed going down the road and make a decent bench to sit on. Although finding ice at a gas station for coolers is a bit more spread out here in ak so maybe its of more use to me never having to "go to town" if I'm out somewhere in the summer with fish or game meat. 🤣🤷♂️
I’ve had the iceco in my truck running pretty much non stop for the last 3 years. Great little fridges. Gonna get the same one for the lady’s 4 runner soon.
I have one as well. I think it’s a 72qt that is only a fridge or a freezer depending on what you set the temperature at. Super efficient and works great.
Cool trailer.. I have a box trailer i use as well, but I keep it completely empty until it’s time to roll, then i treat it like a tent with a Mr. Buddy heater and a cot… love it for cold/wet weather..: thanks for sharing!
i am a fire alarm technician our code has us put the smoke detector 1 foot above our panel i am sure thats to protect the smoke somewhat if that panel does have a fire. i would raise you smoke a little further up just to give your smoke a little more life and longer notification in case of fire. just a thought.
Bro, conduit is your friend, and it is a lot safer, especially if some of your gear bumps around on rough roads. Protect that wiring and stay safe. Cool set up by the way.🤘
I use an enclosed trailer for hunting, one thing I did was insulate it the walls and ceiling with the foam board insulations. I pulled the plywood back cut the foam to fit between the structural members and screwed the plywood back in place. I used some lightweight panel board and insulation on the ceiling also. It helped with noise and keeping it warm with the heater I have.
Mobile Mancave! Seriously, your trailer reminds me of my basement and office combined. You did remind me to get a fire extinguisher in my trailer. I started on it s year or two ago, but its specific for quicker family camping. Yours strikes me as general purpose, or support logistics for a larger camp.
Man I’m not a hater at all, rarely comment on any vid unless it’s positive or at least funny, but that up speak is BRUTAL. I couldn’t finish the video and I really wanted to!
Hey cliff, great video! If you ever have to travel on super rough backroads and your tool box drawers are sliding open, use rare earth magnets to keep them shut. Super handy for all kinds of applications
Curious that you did not include a 12V fridge freezer. I would not be without one. And, in setting up my various mobile/marine outfits, I have found that high quality marine-grade 12V components are well worth the little extra that they cost. I have a very similar box trailer that i may set up up as a 'base camp'. Thanks for the video.
dang! sweet setup, cliff! It seems like you thought of everything. You should do a review of your e bike, I've been considering getting one but haven't been able to pull the trigger since my full suspension MTB gets the job done
I really liked the simplicity and thoughtfulness you put into this versatile trailer! Great video! Where did you get those floor and wall tie-down/hanger brackets? I didn’t see it in the gear list.
You are providing great ideas and sharing great advise, much appreciated. Have you considered a discobed? On military deployments we placed a piece of thin plywood on the top bunk and then use it for storage.
If you don’t have one you might want to check out an air hitch from shocker hitch the movement of things in your trailer while traveling will reduce tremendously!!!
Nice setup! There are some great free resources on how trailer/rv wiring is setup online. Been working on my own inverter/battery bank setup mounted in a rolling toolbox. I like the lithium power stations available but worry about obsolescence with how much they cost.
Yeah I felt the same way. I didn’t mention this in the video but one of the primary reasons I did all the electrical is so I knew exactly how it all worked. I can’t tell you how many hours of my life I have worked on torn up trailer, side-by-side, etc… wiring in the backcountry. If any of this system breaks I bet I can fix it in 10 minutes, max.
Great breakdown Cliff....Can you touch on the benefits of the Badger roll? From the outside it looks like a $400 bivy sack that weigh 6.7 lbs with straps if you want to roll it up. It holds other companies equipment like a thermarest pad, sierra down quilt and some sheets, but why are you choosing this over other bivys that are also more usable as a backpack option, or just using a better sleeping bag on the cot inside the trailer? Thanks!
Let me know what specific options you are talking about on the backpack front... just for context on my end. It really isn't a bivy bag. At least in the way I think of a bivy. It is more of a cowboy bedroll setup in a more modern design, with more modern material. I have always used a homemade canvas cowboy bedroll... with a lot of the same advantages. I can roll up the entire system is the simplest and biggest advantage to me. In the trailer setup, I prefer it over a sleeping bag because I sleep better in quilts/blankets and it holds those in place for me, same with the mattress. I also like the ability to zip it up and use my cot for storage, to sit on, etc... The short answer is... if a guy is looking for value, make a bedroll out of an old piece of canvas. If willing to spend some more money, it's a good system.
@CliffGray that makes sense so this is more equivalent to a canvas cutter style and can be used outside in elements. I was speaking more towards a lightweight bivy like katabatic gear thats under 8 oz and 140 bucks.
@@it_is_what_it_is_brotha yeah, I gotcha. For sure, the canvas cutter type deal is more of a comparison. This thing is made for convenience and rough handling... think trailer, then back of truck, then raft, on top of mule, then thrown in back of bush plane.... etc... It's fairly bulky and heavy but creature comfort oriented.
So first off. Great video and thanks for sharing with us.. Questions: 1. Looking at a 16’ or 14’x7x7 aluminum or steel frame? 2. Thoughts on size and material for getting off the road? 3. And any thoughts on a leaf over the axles conversion to gain height for same reasons? Thank you in advance..
Think about making things removable or able to be made compact. I am making one using cots and a collapsible sink stove set up so I can put 4 wheeler in and 12 ft boat hanging above.
Great breakdown and tour Cliff. I like the versatility of not having any permanent builds inside other than you power system. Strange question/request perhaps a video on your workout system with the bands you mentioned. Are they what you use at home or just on camp? Nate
Weird uninterested first comments! Ai? I build a smaller version years ago. Some great cargo conversion pages out there. I have the same ip67 victron charger too. Nice rig.
Wow did you look at my trailer haha minuse the took chest it's just like mine. I mounted the 120v cable into the trailer threw the floor so nothing threw the roof or walls
I keep it laid out. It’s actually a good surface to lay my bow on or other lightweight gear that I don’t want sliding around. It is soft enough and textured enough to hold on to that stuff, unlike my workbench
How off road capable is it? Could you get it more places with a lift kit and bigger wheels? Considering the same setup but most places we camp in ID are off 4WD logging roads and require 4WD to get into more shaded parking spots. Would love to be more mobile vs the standard wall tent setup which is a pain to move.
Yes you could. It’s honestly pretty surprising how much I have dragged this trailer through without issue. Ground clearance is the biggest obstacle I’ve run into with it. Could for sure be optimized.
Clif u need to get u a lil deepfrez so if a guy tags out frist day and the last day. One big enough to fit a boned out elk in. How some of my hunters from washigton amd az been doing it for the last few years.
Battle Born 12v 100ah = 1.28kwh $949....or an EG4 LL lithium server rack battery 12v 400ah = 5.12kwh for $1299. Just something to think about to save money while getting more bang for your buck.
I recommend watching it again. It’s a simple build which is the point of the video, but it isn’t just cot and couple of hooks simple. Lots of good ideas within the video.
Probably cleaner then ur office desk. Lol when u live from sun up tell sun down, im the the sticks. idk how much time u would have to be organized. U do u bo lmao

This is on my list 👍
Choas organization love how you kept it real on this video.
Bwhaha good way to describe it 👍
Really well done. I have a cargo trailer a bit longer, but am going to turn it into my hunting/fishing trailer. Absolutely fantastic job on yours.
I was thinking, "when did Hoyt start making breaker boxes?" 🤣🤣
Bwhaha got ya good

We built a shower in our trailer. On demand hot water heater its nice after a couple days hunting!
Awesome Cliff.. Thanks for taking the time to share this…👍👍👍👍💪
Of course! Thanks Kevin
You can get 12v oscillating fans also. We use them in our rv.
Nice trailer setup,keep em coming

yeah, pretty spot on. That is primarily what I use it for. It makes for a really nice wall tent power station and base
Excellent setup

Great tip 👍 my box locks all the drawers at once so I haven’t had any issues. I’ve got some other shelves though that I can use this on
Great content! Thanks for taking the time to show and explain why you have what you have!
You have an awesome set-up!
thanks Scott!

great suggestion. for me, I think it would end up in all of my hanging gear. However, a great concept for a slightly different layout
If you don’t have one you might want to check out an air hitch from shocker hitch the movement of things in your trailer while traveling will reduce tremendously!!!
So sick brother. Thinking about making something like this in a baja/lifted type situation. The closer to the spot you can get the better right.

I've got a2025 Stealth aluminum 7x7x14 I'll sell you for 19k
I just bought a 14’ trailer for this years moose hunt . Been brain storming on how I will set it up
It’s pretty fun to get it all figured out 👍

Outstanding trailer and video what size is your trailer
Great use for your Badger Bed bedroll. Do you roll it up when you’re traveling or just keep it laid out?
I keep it laid out. It’s actually a good surface to lay my bow on or other lightweight gear that I don’t want sliding around. It is soft enough and textured enough to hold on to that stuff, unlike my workbench
My question is this your show that you do every week? Do I have to be a member and if so, I will.
thanks for all the info! whats a ballpark budget for a trailer w this type of equipment?
I think I have less than $10k in it

This guy could be Jesse James’s from west coast coppers younger brother.
Not only a smoke and carbon monoxide detector but an explosion has detector too.
What are the dimensions of the trailer itself?
Nice job! But it’s not “over-engineered” when you didn’t use electrical conduit for your wires. That’s a safety miss.
OK, time to develop a survival use case for two inch long nose hairs.
Good call 😜
Duck hunter ?
I did my time as a duck hunter… miss it greatly
Nobody really cares about what gauge wire that you used on your 12Vwith.
People are inclined to want to know if it has a head shower and kitchen.
