The beauty of this SUV is you can go pick up your newborn from the hospital in your new LX, and then pass the vehicle to him when he's ready for college.
If I could only have one Lexus, this would be the one! Indestructible, reliable, off road machine, luxury, and the best space for families! I've yet to review one yet, but I'm dying to.
We traded my wife's 2013 LX570 last year...hated to see it go. I called it a beautiful beast as it could take you anywhere on or off road you wanted to go but you could also clean it up and take it to any formal event in style. The LX570/Land Cruiser is one of the best vehicles ever produced in my opinion.
G Kaler94 You'll probably called me an idiot but it's what the wife wanted..a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit V8. She wanted something smaller but insisted on having a V8 and similar off road capabilities. I will say it has surpassed my expectations so far.
I would've looked at the earlier LX470, older vehicle/tech but still a great model, and reliable as all get out! I'm sure you'll have another Lexus sometime down the road.
I think reviewers need to stop reviewing everything as if it's a performance vehicle and review each vehicle individually for what they are. Honestly I could care less about the 0-60 times and can it handle corners at high speeds of a full size luxury SUV. Tell me about the quality, fit and finish. Tell me how comfortable the ride is and how significant the body roll is. There's entirely way too much focus on performance for the majority of consumers that will be stuck in traffic and going to the mall.
Matt Maran Motoring you did, but my point is reviews are starting to become more performance based no matter the vehicle and manufacturers are to blame. I mean what are folks doing out there seeing who can pass who the fastest when changing lanes to get to Walmart.?
@@mccortezy in europe you will exceed the amount of money spent on buying the car with just the gas bill in 3 years. Ask me how i know ;). I spent 50k euros on gas in 4 years!

Marsel Vitti the age of German unreliability is over. Audi, bmw and Mercedes make some of the most reliable cars on the market. this isn’t the 90s anymore
Marsel Vitti according to consumer reports Audi is number 4 most reliable brand and bmw is 5th. It’s just facts the difference in reliability between brands is very small now a days
My uncle has a 2009 C class and he said it's never given him issues. He services it regularly and it runs fine with over 140k miles. He smashed it a couple times it still run perfect. German cars are quality if you take care of them however there are chances of owning one that wasnt built perfectly to standards.
@Braden, That's initial reliability, we won't be able to see how reliable they really are until 5-6+ years down the road at least. Anecdotally, I see more older Mercedes on the road than any other German models, and I do think Audi is genuinely improving, but it's still too early to tell. BMWs have dogshit reliability.
After owning an RC-F for a year and a half I'm truly sold on modern Lexus and Toyota. The reliability, and as Matt mentioned; Service is second to none. You're truly taken care of each time, and the expectation of Lexus/Toyota is truly remarkable! I know that in 10-15 years after purchase a Lexus will still be there, and reliable as ever. I'm contemplating my second Lexus in a 2003-2005 LS 430 which to some is considered to be one of the best designed cars for the segment ever. I know that even at the age the LS 430's are they'll still perform and act as they did the day they rolled off the assembly line. With proper maintenance, oil changes, these cars will truly go on forever. 1,000,000 miles isn't unheard of for a Toyota. For $90k the latest LX 570 seems a bit much, and outdated tech wise. You could buy so many more current tech driven cars for the same money, but you'd lose the reliability, and re-sell value of the Lexus over the alternatives. It's truly a trade-off game when it comes to these mammoth rolling SUV's in the sub $100k ballpark. MPG's sure, their awful, but you truly get something like a LX 570 for road trips, or long distance hauling with ease. The 6k lbs. monster is home on the highway, and not so much curves or back roads etc. I truly wish Lexus will integrate Apple Carplay/Android Auto, but I guess we'll have to wait some more for that to happen, if ever.
Great review, Matt! The LX 570 sure is a huge beastly luxury SUV with a spacious cabin and a very menacing apperance. All in all, after watching your review, it seems like a pretty solid competitor in its class. From one car enthusiast to another, keep up the great work! 👍🏽
The steering is hydraulic not electric motor that’s why it’s heavy So that it don’t fail off-roading The brakes are pre charged coz of the safety cruise feature. They tend to be variable depending of speed and vehicle in front
I have a 2008 lx570, never had to replace anything apart from things like brake pads and fluids. Meanwhile my merc CL from the same era has been sitting in the shop for over a month. I mean the lx definetely isn't the "best" car out there at the time, it bodyrolls alot, the suspension struggles to filter out small bumps unlike other luxury cars, the interior materials isn't as nice as my CL, and the navigation is rubbish. But it feels nice knowing I have a car that I can rely on and won't go wrong.
Son Dao I like both, but the new Navigator looks way better, has better tech, is faster, and the modern lincolns and fords are pretty reliable so it's a better vehicle overall.
Can you imagine if they stick a supercharger on it at 5-6 psi or turbo at 7-8 psi on that 5.7L. It still should be fairly reliable and stress free at such low boost but the POWER!
I would not consider this car with two rows only. In fact I think many people would be interested in it for its level of comfort of the third row because of its size and price
Just bought a used LCert 2018 LX570 with only 29K mi. You are right on about the heavy steering wheel and braking. Those are the first things I noticed first.
Reliability is the main selling point for this vehicle. But is it worth the money? Personally I'll just get the Land Cruiser instead. It's more value for money and it's pretty much the same car. But if I have so much money and have no where to spend it then why not, just park one in my garage as well for variety purposes.
this thing is awesome just the gas mileage really sucks! not that big of a deal really, i'd take a lower mpg for reliability but at least they could have put in a bit of a larger tank to get a bit more range between fills. It gets like half of the range as a Ford F150 with the larger tank
The Saudi’s won’t cross the desert in anything less than the LandCruiser and some of them sport the LX.. they know what it takes to notnonly venture out, but to return. Range Rocers are gorgeous but that shit wears off real fast when it shuts down in the middle of no where...
Unless you’re needing a true off road vehicle, there are so many better choices for an upmarket full size SUV. I’m thinking of the Lincoln Navigator, Range Rover, Audi Q7 or Volvo XC90.
I didn’t see Doug DeMuro in that picture plus I have a q7 and it’s very good while my wife is debating to get this. I will tell her to look into it Sorry for the soon return she ended up buying it
I kinda glad that people here in the U.S. dont buy these LC or LX. I like the rarity of the vehicle. Think if everyone bought these you think over time these vehicles will not have the nostalgia like it have now, thus resale would not be the same. Also people dont have the same taste. Dont forget, that front grill a good sum of people think its hideous. I like Toyota's SUV's and I can honestly say that third row in the LX and LC is a deal breaker to many people. It cut in to storage capacity, and too small. I believe the Nissan Armada has a better third row. Then the button for the automatic tailgate is in the wrong place. It should be on the bottom back pillar where the third row seat controls are at, not on the tailgate itself. Because majority of the people that drive these things are house wives and soccer moms
Luxery brand like mercedes was in the olden days where they focused on comfort, reliability, build quality. In 10 years time, all the buttons will still work the seats wont be torn everything will still be as it was new. And that is what you get what you pay for, it has all the bells and wistles just like the german brands but their electronics and mechanical build is just not up to lexus standard. They are a better car for the 2 years and when they are in warrenty
After having 2 generations of LX (15, and 17) we’ve moved to a Lincoln Navigator, and haven’t looked back. The LX is just too dated, and slow compared to the more modern lux SUVs. Subjectively, it feels very sterile and soulless compared to the Navigator. Great review!
I agree with you that other SUVs maybe more luxurious but, I would rather spend 100k on a Lexus lx then a Lincoln not being bias or anything by owning 3 different LX's
High settings won't work if the speed goes higher than about 15mph...also the highest setting will only activate when 4L mode is on and crawl control is active, which is about 8mph or less.
