These old sci-fi movies are so great. Love them. Didn't see this one back then, nice to discover it now. My mother wouldn't have let me see it even if I had known about it. Such trauma wasn't good for young children, gave them nightmares and made them wet the bed. Monopoly was the most excitement she approved of, and that was stretching it because it involved greed and the love of money. I can't watch one of these movies without thinking about her. She was right about sci-fi films and about the board game.

Kinda aggressive space program. First man in space, and he's going to the Moon right off. In addition, he's riding on a single stage rocket all the way. I did not know how advanced they were in 1958 living in a black & white world. They colorized it so we in the colored world can relate. LOL

Asteroids the Diameter of 10 kilometers is heading for the Earth NOW, this is 1958, the concept of mass Extinctions has yet to be understood much less the knowledge this was what took out the Dino's, a 10 kilometer asteroid.

@42:30. Many asteroids are made of smaller masses that clump together including Bennu which NASA just retrieved samples from.

One scientific fact (and probably the only one in movie) is that 28,000 kilometers per hour is the correct speed for low Earth orbit.
