Yiheng is a child of all the previous best cubers. All of them contributed in developing systems and strategies to be on the top. Yiheng uses it, and he started young, so he's got enough years to develop the skills needed.

0:40 that 3.99 is the first counting sub 4 ever. (Also, 4.72 twice in a row) Consistency is very important for getting a good average nowadays. You can no longer get away with hesitating or messing up an algorithm because the time you'd have to get for the remaining solves would be physically impossible.
Remember when we went crazy after Lucas Etter got the very first sub-5 single? Which was actually one of the craziest day in cubing history imo (please talk about the events of that day Jperm). And now a sub-5 average is just like a commonplace.
I have been cubing for 43 years now and I haven't yet got down to this level of cubing... I am proud of the fact that I understand what you are talking about at last though! I had an incredibly lucky sub 15 a few months ago but usually run at about 40-50 sec. I quite often get sub 40 but only with a skip or two. In 1981 I had a very lucky 32sec solve and by end of 1982 I consistently subbed 60 sec. Try that with a 1980 cube all lubed up with Vaseline! Hhmmm... just another 40 years and I will maybe sub 20 sec on average... maybe not! Great videos J Perm - you and my Nephew have taught me the meaning of life - 42 moves!
The most insane thing is that he didn't use any ZBLL. And he COULD HAVE! His solves are so based on fundamentals! He's not using the wild and insane solutions... he's just doing basic solutions, OLL, PLL, and doing it extremely fast. That also leads to insane consistency because he KNOWS his solutions inside and out. If he loses worlds, it's only because he choked AND Tymon has some insane 900 IQ solutions that he perfectly executes. This is a new meta in cubing...
Yi Heng is just insane like my Mind is just blown like what is the cubing world coming into If Max Park somehow breaks this record by .01 there will be fireworks everywhere and the world is going to go crazy Btw J Perm love the content keep up the good work
Chinese cuber has insane tps. They more investing on tps than having learn more advance alg like ZBLL. Ruihang was the first cuber I've seen who solved a cube in sub 3 with video. And he's using only a Oll and Pll (I don't know if he using COLL or ZBLL alg). Imagine,Yiheng got Tymon's skill to how plan for a great solution. Tymon admitted that his problem was tps.
Thank you JPerm for making me improve better. I known how to solve a 3x3 and Known how to Do F2L but i haven't cubed since 2022. Until I Cube again on November 2023 that have been 2 months because it is 2024 now. I learned F2L again and Know it now. I tried to do 2-Look OLL and 2-Look PLL on December. I got them now! I learned Advanced F2L and 2-Look OLL and 2-Look PLL I got beginner CFOP now My PB is 33.81 Seconds! My second Best is 47.07, So Thank you Again JPerm. :)

That seems to be the case with YiHeng and his parental dynamic pretty consistently. I think it's wrong, and I doubt he continues to enjoy cubing with that kind of pressure.
I quit cubing a few years ago, when you had 90 thousand subs. I’ve recently picked up cubing and congrats on hitting 1 million. Also congrats to cubehead, souptimmy, benthecuber , and kewbix as well!

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks but they're wrong, I'm 51 so remember the original Rubik coming out and spending hour after trying to solve it. So when a friend left an old style Rubik at my house I determined I'll learn to solve it with the help of RUclips. Took me about a week to learn beginner method consistently and I became addicted lol Been doing it a couple of months and get around 1m 20ish... My goal is sub 1m I'm amazed at what speed cubers can do.
