oh god that makes sense, Annus wants to get rid of Unus, but Unus is clinging onto Annus like there's no tomorrow; so what if instead it was Annus trying to stop time? this is all headcanons and it'd be dope if an AU came out of it but idk
Unus bringing about both their deaths because to him loneliness is scarier than death, Annus desperately shoving away and attempting to escape Unus for the need to survive and the want for eternal power/life-- their demise comes about with a single thought, "if you're killing me, I'm bringing you down with me", Unus isn't dying out without the last laugh, and both higher beings sink into a body of tar/black liquid to their last breaths as they slowly fade away. They were both selfish, they were both blinded by their goals, and they both died of unknown causes (the higher beings and the puppets they controlled, Mark and Ethan) boom, there's an AO3 angst fanfiction plot.
@@crowsoto9612 maybe thats why people depict ethan having the scythe and mark holding the clock or anything representing time, Unus keeps the clock ticking until their death and Annus keeps trying to keep time going, hence the year. But then also what blank said, that explains the personalities SO well with what everyones coming up with, annus seems more power hungry (?) and confident and unus seems more scared and so on. Its really fun to think about
@@crowsoto9612 or what if annus is tired of seeing everything else die and hates seeing unus be lonely and unus hates seeing annus being sad all the time and hates being lonely so they both combine to complete both of there goals to die and to not be alone and in doing so they become the best of friends.

Okay so heres my theory, at the beginning Unus and Ethan were about to die since the hourglass was about to run out and Annus was strangling Ethan. Thats why it showed the almost empty hourglass and Ethan drowning and the black screen but Unus refused to accept the end just yet cuz there was one last thing he had to do. While Ethan was drowning we saw the flashbacks from previous vids which is tied to the belief that our lives flash before our eyes and the broken hourglass with Amy, Mark and Ethan which probably means that the year is done but Ethan didnt die just yet so when he saw Unus' hand reaching out, he grabbed it. It relieved Unus that he was still alive. The clip where Unus restarted the hourglass was probably because they needed more time. More time to defeat Annus. Unus probably took control when Ethan was drowning cuz he was the one who saved Ethan and not vice versa and maybe because in the last vid, we saw Ethan trying to summon Unus to help him defeat Annus.Thats why when the screen went back on, Annus said 'Unus?' and not 'Ethan?'
Edit: Oh, i noticed that maybe to Ethan, his time was long and he enjoyed every bit of it and accepted that it was almost the end and notice that in all the vids his hair was short. But to Mark, time was fast and he couldnt do or enjoy the things he wanted, so he tried to stop time and notice how his hair grew longer?
And maybe im over thinking this but there might be a possibility that Mark is dead? In here we see that Ethan is crying and carrying Mark in his arms, and in the background we see Unus looking at the broken hourglass that probably implies that they defeated Annus but also killed Mark in the process. But again, i might be looking into this

Blank ERROR i just noticed, if they have different objectives, they have different perspectives. In the videos if you would look at Ethans hair, it was short like the time for him was going slow and he was enjoying everything thats why he accepted time was running out. But Marks hair got longer and longer like in movies, when time goes fast, you grow old and grow longer hair. So to Mark, time was running fast and he doesnt enough time to finish and enjoy everything he wanted. So thats why in this vid, Ethans hair was short but Marks was long. And probably in the scene where the hourglass was broken, it was probably Unus since it looked like his hair was short, looking at it and thinking what Annus had done to Mark. And maybe since it showed a broken sideways hourglass, and Ethan crying and holding Mark, Mark might be dead, so they defeated Annus but also killed Mark since the sideways hourglass was the illusion Annus gave him. But its what i think lol
You pointed out the hair which I haven't seen anyone do it yet (other than as a joke)
And you are partially right.
The reason Mark's hair is growing longer and longer is because they still age (to an extent) even if the time stopped.
Just because time stopped doesn't mean you do ^^
As for the broken glass shown-
Ryan is holding dead Mark and it is Annus standing and looking at the clock

I loved how you portrayed the insanity cooped up in Unus! I feel like everyone underestimated Ethan so they immediately would think Unus is the “scardy cat” between Unus and Annus, but I think differently. I think Unus really controls his insanity to play it safe in a way (possibly to put up a front for Annus so he doesn’t see what a monster Unus really is?) (sorry thx for coming to my TedTalk, I just really love ideas for Unus and Ethan’s character development lol)

OKAY BACK TO THE STORYLINE!! In wonderland Annus had the sideways hourglass to show Mark that time didn’t have to flow there. Unus on the other hand showed Ethan that the hourglass was gonna run out. When it did Ethan was submerged in water. Unus was showing that just because it’s the end of Unus Annus. Doesn’t mean it’s the end period. To demonstrate this he simply flipped the hourglass and pulled Ethan out of the water. This could also show that Annus succeeded in taking ethan down because you can see the screen of reality went black. Either in the process of taking control Ethan passed out or Annus knocked him out. At the end when the screen turned back on Annus was facing away at first which shows that he probably thought he defeated Ethan. He turned around and said “Unus?” Showing that he was unsure if it was Unus. When Unus came to in Ethan’s body, him and Annus just looked at each other. I may be wrong this was only after one view of the video for me.
Also Unus’ big smile while pulling Ethan out could be him realizing that Ethan understands and trusts Unus. Why else would he give control and take his hand. While Annus uses Mark’s denial/dread for the end and fortifies it with the sideways hourglass, Unus shows Ethan that it would be best to let it go and move on to greater things in spite of the end of Unus Annus
Also as the water rises you can see Annus almost taunting Ethan/Unus. The water is rising because of Annus. Unus is helping Ethan out of the water. Why would he submerge him and then immediately help him?
Also based on the text at the beginning, I don’t think Unus and Annus are enemies, more so that Annus doesn’t agree with Unus, He doesn’t think the end of Unus Annus is for the best. So he tries to almost separate himself through Mark while Unus may be using Ethan to get Annus back and to show him what he showed Ethan. I don’t think he sees Ethan as a tool for his goals the way Annus may see Mark. He just has no other way to see Annus while he is controlling Mark.
Also the lyrics “the Wolves will chase you in the pale moonlight” happens just as it pans over to Annus on the screen. This could be to show that the water is most certainly happening because of Annus. Unus doesn’t help Ethan until he is fully submerged because he knew Annus wouldn’t hold back and he needed to see if Ethan was almost strong enough to fight against Annus, Unus didn’t sink but he was in water nonetheless. While Ethan sank he didn’t drown. He stayed conscious and held his breath long enough to get out. And when he did Unus gained control and met up with Annus. Unus seemed to act more like, not lecturing but based on the tone of the song she picked and his expressions throughout, I’d say it’s pretty close

Okay so first- Youre super close so I'll just go on and say that Annus did succed in killing Ethan.
Ethan legit died.
That's why the hourglass ran out so fast.
Also, there is a reason why Ethan trusts Unus all of the sudden after beginning to drown.
I don't think it was too obvious so I will just say that the reason he agrees to let Unus in was because Unus showed Ethan everything that had been going in and what *will* happen.

Oh gawd.. Rn I just feel stuck. Like there's nothing I can do to keep this channel alive except holding on to the wonderful memories it has made and try to share it with others. I even made a playlist called "Memories of Unus Annus" that has clips, animatics, songs from or resemble Unus Annus. I'm hoping that the UA animatics and clips that are really out of context can stay as a way to keep our memories alive (kinda like watching home-videos or going through pictures of seeing our dead loved ones).
@@ghostlyfae8721 yeah I kinda feel the same. It feels like someone is going to die even if it’s only the channel. My biggest fear when the channel gets deleted is forgetting things. I want to remember as much as I can. I even made a letter to my future self telling everything about Unus Annus.

So I know Ethan and Mark said there wasn't any cannon Unus Anus lore, but oh my god do I love the things people have come up with. My personal theory about Unus Annus was close to what MattPat said. I think that Ethan and Mark somehow got trapped in a simulation equivalent to a kind of Purgatory. In this purgatory-like realm everyone has a counterpart that represents their second chance at life. Unus and Annus are Mark and Ethan's. Amy has one too. When they were trapped, Unus and Annus told Mark and Ethan that they had one year to live as if they were dying, doing whatever it was they wanted. Originally they were excited, but then Unus and Annus told them that they should be careful because "whatever they wanted" really meant "whatever they wanted". In this realm, whatever they imagined could become real (including monsters), they could have powers beyond reality (flight, seeing into the future, lasers, super strength, the stuff seen in some of the edits), they could even kill each other and come back fine the next day.They had their own freedom to some extent, but when Unus and Annus told them to do something they had to do it no matter what. It also had to be broadcast to an audience so that their messages would be shown to whoever chose to tune in. Sometimes Unus and Annus would suddenly switch the tone of an episode, having Ethan and Mark to tell the audience time was running out or other important messages about life and death (maybe they would even temporarily possess them? could be either or). In the end, if Ethan and Mark could complete all of the challenges set out for them, they would get to go home and Unus and Annus would take their places for the final moments before the clock ran out. The Clock was the one really in charge though. The Clock in my mind is a bit like the Fates from Greek Mythology. It isn't good or evil necessarily but it decides when a person's time is up. The Clock had decided that it was time for Mark and Ethan to die, but their counterparts Unus and Annus, said no. They had to prove to the Clock that these two were people who deserved to live longer, that they had a lot more potential than the Clock had believed. The trade off though was that if Mark and Ethan lived, Unus and Annus would die. They agreed, because Unus and Annus had confidence that Mark and Ethan would not only complete their challenges, but become closer and learn important lessons because of them. And they were confident that by making Unus Annus a channel others could watch, those same messages would unite millions of people around the world. The Clock's last trick was to delete the channel, believing that leaving no trace would be as if nothing had happened at all. Even if Mark and Ethan won and Unus and Annus were the ones to die, it wouldn't really matter because no one would know how they had managed to do it. But it didn't work, because what the Clock didn't take into account was memories. When the time came for Unus and Annus to die, they were ok with it, because they knew they would continue live on through all of us, in our memories. When Ethan was crying and shouting that they needed more time, it wasn't for himself. It was for Unus and Annus. That was when he learned he and Mark had won, but that Unus and Annus would have to die. He had believed all of them could live and didn't know about the tradeoff. But now, he's learned to accept it, and so has Mark as shown in their recent videos. They're thankful for Unus and Annus giving them a second chance. They both know that they will not get another shot now, so they have to make this one count. : )

I think annus is panicking almost because the closer he is to the end the more he’s afraid of being alone because while unnus is one annus will be stuck in a perpetual state of between death and life forever his curse for betraying the one person he had that under stood him
So in a way unnus and annus are a curse and unnus dies while annus is stuck and there is no cure
