@ProfessionalGun66…thank you for all the time and effort you’ve put into curating all these fantastic old episodes of Corrie, they’ve given me hours of pleasure.
It hasn't taken Ken long to go from supporting Deidre in becoming a councillor to resenting her for doing the work involved. Typical Ken, he wasn't interested in her election, he just wanted to get rid of Alf. Self-centred as always.
I totally agree. Ken the shavanist he is. He could have supported her with Tracy and the appendix issue that was real bad. Showing his Mike/Ken face again. Ken is no more than an ex school teacher to a many pamby local newspaper. Waiting for the next divorce between them both. We haven't suffered Wendy Crozier as yet I think that's the next blow before or after Susan hitting the ground running
Self-centred, hypocritical, pompous and about as fanciable as a cactus. I can't help thinking Deirdre's storylines would have been much more interesting if she'd picked Mike - and I doubt anyone would have missed Susan Barlow/Baldwin.
See I was born in 95 and so love watching the corries of the late 90's and early 00's but I can't help myself watching the even older ones a think its because of being able to see all the characters I know but from years gone by and seeing what events hapoened in their lives in the lead up to where I like to watch from there's simething cool about that imo.
No they sold their old house to the older guy who's son worked in Australia. And he had to sell the house because it was his sons and the grandson moved to Australia with the dad.
I’m sure the barman who served Vera in the pink flamingo nightclub later became Charlie the truck driver who met bet Gilroy, thank you 🙏 for the uploads I remember this episode so well
I watched the very first episode in 1961 and loved it I would love tto see the first few years again with Ena Sharples, Minnie Caldwell and Martha Longhurst. gossiping in the 'snug'
I think Hilda and Tom were a great match but the scriptwriters didn't want that ending for her...I wonder why..but they put her through the attack at the Lowthers then depression then leaving to go live with Dr Lowther as a housekeeper. I wanted better for her character, nothing bittersweet. Of course when Hilda returned to the Street, it was revealed that Dr Lowther did propose to her but she declined. She stood in front of Stan's grave and told him. Dedicated to him right to the end. I think Stan would've wanted her to remarry and to have what he couldn't give her, he knew she deserved the best. ❤ I think she was put out that she felt pushed to marry Tom and worked out that Sally was interested in the house.
Hilda is so annoying at times, and very hypocritical...She sticks her nose into other people's business and moans when other people do it to her... I think that Jean Alexander made the right decision to leave...There's a great interview of her from 1988 on here, just after she left the show with Terry Wogan Very nice lady in real life. Well spoken too
1:39:10 ooh that rips my knitting that does! The bar is right beside him, he's speaking to the barmaid, yet he finishes his pint and leaves the jug on the table! 🍺
Sally was always pulling Hilda's house down and making her feel bad about it, as soon as she needs somewhere to do her washing she takes it round to Hilda's 🙄
Bill Roache's acting ability is an amazing spectrum of talking or shouting..... that's about it... He holds the record of longest actor in a show because he couldn't have done anything else with his limited ability.
I can’t help watching these over again but I love ❤️ the old ones, they bring back many memories,I think bet and Gloria look nice in their dresses but them shoulder pads look huge on both dresses but it is the 80s after all!
Why don’t we ever see anyone’s front room? Kept for ‘best’ probably. Why doesn’t anyone sit in them? I mean look at the Duckworths sat on armchairs next to the kitchen sink 😂
The interior sets were like the tardis. They couldn't fit inside the exteriors. Having walked the street, I know the houses are 2/3rds life size and they used wide angle lenses on the cameras. The "Select" room at the Rovers could not exist without it being on the road lol😂
Yet again Ken is the patronising chauvinist. In his head it's the mother's place to be there for their sick daughter, even though they both work. And he had told her he supported her decision to go for councillor. So annoying!!
Ken Barlow is so selfish….he wanted to be a councillor, couldn’t, so thought Deidre could take his place. If the shoe was on the other foot he’d expect Deidre to accept it. And to say to Deidre “ YOUR sick child”.. pompous jerk😡
I hate Ken so much. He’s been a terrible parent to his own kids. He was all over Deirdre being a councillor but only took 5 mins to become an arse about that. Not a national treasure. Don’t know how he’s survived all these decades
A real slimeball of a character. With his 'Cambridge' literary pretensions. Sitting in a little terraced house publishing his sh**bag free paper. He used to get short shrift in our house.
Ken and Deirdre are incredibly dull. Boring personalities and boring storylines. Literally every other character is more interesting. Even Gail and Brian's marriage problems are more interesting than Ken and dreary Hilda seems to have lost her spark. I guess because Jean Alexander is leaving soon and seems to have had enough at this point.
The barman at the nightclub Vera and Ivy have their night out…I’m pretty sure he played the ‘trucker’ Bet hooked up with in a later episode after her marriage beak up.
Mavis (to Rita. about Alan ) “Well, it would be difficult to hold a conversation with the bit between your teeth.” That was almost a reversal of role s!
@@madwatermelon1316 dawn Acton who played the third Tracy character since 1977 was introduced in 1988 as a rebellious Tracy in that years that follows.
Jack should have got an engineer in to fit the gas fire. You would have thought he would have had more sense after his terrible attempt at fixing the electrical fault at the Rovers, which ultimately led to the whole place going up in flames!
@ProfessionalGun66…thank you for all the time and effort you’ve put into curating all these fantastic old episodes of Corrie, they’ve given me hours of pleasure.
LOL 'here comes the groom, face like a prune' lol Hilda I freaking love you chuck!
That cracked me up
Thanks for taking the time to upload these classic episodes 🙂😊

Ken is a pompous a$$ He's hard to take!!!
He was and still is a very pompous character belittling everyone he could. I think his son Daniel is very much like him, a snob.
Agreed. Was alright for him to work all hours at that pointless paper!
Thank you for all your hard work. This means everything xx
Yesxit means everything. Hi can tell by user name leopard print b
Hilda always takes an attitude when someone pokes nose in her business but it’s no worries when she pokes her nose in others business. Lol
"Do i have to get my own tea again" Kevin moaning or stuffing his face.
Awww poor wee Tom. Thanks for the uploads, so appreciated.

And they're much better
That washing machine of Hilda's is fast, isn't it? It was on the spin cycle before Sally had left the kitchen 😂
Alec & Bet where one of Corrie’s greatest double acts.
I didn't like Alex tbh..he was snidey.
She used him to the max, as the cheap trump she is and Alec has to be one of the stupidest, naive men ever!
Self centred Sally, I want it all and I want it now.
A home visit from a doctor ! Oh I forgot…it’s 1987 😮
We have doctor to your door again now.
Still was unusual then.
You can forget that today. I actually remember as a kid having a doctor look at me. Must have been around 1984 or so. How times have changed?
Dropped story lines, did they forget Len put in central heat in No. 9? We fans didn't so this Jack fire story is nuts.
Love the wedding of bet and Alec
Thank you for sharing your videos
I was under the impression that Rita's old house, now the Duckworths had central heating?
The heater is missing from the hall wall.
Terry probably ripped it out and sold it😅
@@smartieplum Not RTerry, probably Jack for a few ciggies and pints.
No they sold their old house to the older guy who's son worked in Australia. And he had to sell the house because it was his sons and the grandson moved to Australia with the dad.
They changed sets during this period. Onvioisly overlooked continuity.
I’m sure the barman who served Vera in the pink flamingo nightclub later became Charlie the truck driver who met bet Gilroy, thank you 🙏 for the uploads I remember this episode so well
I thought the same
Thank you from Australia 🇦🇺
As much as I complain about the script writers I still love this show
I watched the very first episode in 1961 and loved it I would love tto see the first few years again with Ena Sharples, Minnie Caldwell and Martha Longhurst. gossiping in the 'snug'
Gloria looks like Glenda the good witch 😂

❤
I think she was put out that she felt pushed to marry Tom and worked out that Sally was interested in the house.
Tom's a wrong en! 😅
Hilda was the best character ever! Jean Alexander was the only real actor ever on this show.
Thank you!
"I detest weddings."
"Is that why you keep living in sin?"
😂😂😂
Isn't Alec's best man Cherie Blair's dad, Tony Booth?
Yes he is.
Pat Phoenix’s husband
Yes and you can see she looks like him, ugly and what a crap actor the man is. Still playing a loud mothed, know it all.
@@amyishere67😮
Ken Barlow is a two faced, sanctimonious bastard. Have always hated him, but he really outdid himself in this episode. 😡
Absolutely! And Bill Roache's acting spectrum is black or white.
Those huge sleeves on the brides maid dress!! 😂 And ladies sure do love that peach color for weddings on Corrie Street!
Hilda can move to Thornby? George Formby sang when I'm cleaning windows. Stan was a window cleaner. Lol.
Sam “This time two year ago, I had thoughts of walking Phyllis Pearce down the aisle.”
Alec “One born every minute, isn’t there.”
🤣🤣🤣
How ironic! Lol! Thief and fugitive Lynch only slept with them married Alec to get away with it!

Ooh drama at the Barlow’s! the dining table seems to have changed position slightly!
@1:46 Ivy "they broke the mold when they made Jack 😂...thank God 😒"
They should have written defective on that mold!😂
Ken is a git.
Bill Roache's acting ability is an amazing spectrum of talking or shouting..... that's about it...
He holds the record of longest actor in a show because he couldn't have done anything else with his limited ability.
How much for a bloody house?!!! Holy F!!!!!! Let's go back to 1987.
I remember watching this era of coronation street. At the time, you think the people look old. Now I look at them and think they're young!
Run Don, RUN!
Don was a horrible character
Bets future paramour, Charlie the barman at the Pink Flamingo.

40.00 What Have I Done to Deserve This by Pet Shop Boys. STILL one of my fav songs ❤
Didn’t Ken get involved with a woman as well and went as far to visiting her at her house and she became a stalker?!
Here comes the groom face like a prune :)
Wasn't the estate agent DS Gregg from the Bill ?
Yet again Ken is the patronising chauvinist. In his head it's the mother's place to be there for their sick daughter, even though they both work. And he had told her he supported her decision to go for councillor. So annoying!!
Where’s the function room gone?
Tardis. If it existed it would have been on the road! All interiors don't match exteriors.

36:43 enter Don Brennan 🙄 and Vera dressed as Big Bird 😅
40:30 Vera dancing to #PetShopBoys in said Big Bird drag 😂
I thought Hilda did all of the housework! 😂🤣
Love the mullet!
What was it with those huge mutton chop sleeves in 87 ?
Why is Emily’s hair two different colors??
Deirdre’s eyes have a whole script of their own. 👀👀👀

Fish wives Ivy n Vera
Lol - Bet was harbour hooker. 😂
That Mrs Driscoll is one of those types that won't leave you alone and can't cope on her own
Funny Alec is my father in law with an English accent.
Kevin has a decent haircut... at last.
Just wish he'd got rid of pubescent moustache!
I hate Ken so much. He’s been a terrible parent to his own kids. He was all over Deirdre being a councillor but only took 5 mins to become an arse about that. Not a national treasure. Don’t know how he’s survived all these decades
Has the acting spectrum of a snail. Bill Roache would not have survived as an actor if he'd left the show. Imagine him doing Hamlet? 😂
A real slimeball of a character. With his 'Cambridge' literary pretensions. Sitting in a little terraced house publishing his sh**bag free paper. He used to get short shrift in our house.
I wonder how much the record companies of the day paid for getting their latest songs on in the background. 🤔🍻
She said brighter not duller ! Ivy
Wow. Can you remember when doctors used to go on all-outs to people's homes. Thanks for the memories
What a hypocrite Ken is being mad at Dreary for not being home for the kid when he dumped his 2 year old in Scotland and ignored her!
This fella who’s wife Don took out once, as a favour so he could go out with his girlfriend-the couple sound just like Jack and Vera!
Interesting use of the word 'Previous'. I think we said being forward.
That’s the better dress that Ivy put on??! 😂🤣
58:00 Ivy and Vera discussing Bet’s wedding dress and Vera nursing a hang over
54:19 wow the puffball sleeves 😱

The barman at the nightclub Vera and Ivy have their night out…I’m pretty sure he played the ‘trucker’ Bet hooked up with in a later episode after her marriage beak up.
Sorry I mean ‘break up’.
He did he was called Charlie if I remember rightly
Your right.
There's pobably a HUGE list of characters Lynch slept with.
Mavis (to Rita. about Alan ) “Well, it would be difficult to hold a conversation with the bit between your teeth.” That was almost a reversal of role s!
That must be the most beautiful bride and bridal attire and accessories I've ever had the pleasure of seeing ❤
Why didn’t they choose a little girl that could act to play Tracey
Good question.
Believe me. The young actress (If you can call her that) who replaces this one at the end of 1988 is worse.

It was excitingly, riveting television! I held my breath. 🙄🍻
You can tell the best man was the rotten human that was responsible for the birth of Tony Blair’s horrible wife
That's right, Anthony Booth.
He ended up married to "Elsie Tanner" in real life ...
Yes, Cherie Blair, the hideous creature that married the war criminal Tony Blair.
He was also "Malcom Wilkinson", the posh boyfriend of "Christine Hardman" in 1960.
Jack should have got an engineer in to fit the gas fire. You would have thought he would have had more sense after his terrible attempt at fixing the electrical fault at the Rovers, which ultimately led to the whole place going up in flames!
Funny when Ivy grabbed Vera backwards. 🤣
Bett looks beautiful on her wedding
Why is Dreary doing all of this council work??! Alf’s 2 wives never had anything to do with the council!
💁♂️ Because she's an elected counselor. She beat alf in the last election.
Not many fans of ken here - and he has a lot of gas ! See Sorrynation Street and learn the truth....
I've seen high school kids act better than Bill Roache's acting abilities.
Ya Ken your wife was working. What’s wrong with you taking care of your daughter that you wanted to adopt.
First appearance of Don Brennan.
Thank goodness for fastforward.
Couldn't stand Don
Hated Don. Even ivy didn't deserve that
Ivy tiny Don is taller but not vee
Bette has time to go to the hairdresser when her wedding is at 2:00??! I would have taken the 4:00 spot!
Anyone no where this church is bet got married
The Holy Trinity Church at Prestolee, near Bolton.

That episode was the only time Don were happy
