This turned out like a little plant gazebo!! It's wonderful!!
Yes, thanks
Probably the most beautiful raised garden bed I've seen. Thanks for sharing. :)
I love your attitude towards nature. Your garden bed is looking great so far!
Thanks!
Love that beantiful stone fence and of course that garden bed.
It sure is a nice wall. They don't make them like they used to anymore
liked before watching and didn’t skip ads. great content as always.
I really appreciate that!
I get so much enjoyment from your vlogs. I’ve culled many of my utube subscriptions but made sure to keep yours.
Happy to have survived the culling :-)
You’re blowing my mind!! Feel like this house is your true muse!! Wow! Magnificent!
It sure was a find. Although most people would have been scared of its initial condition
Love watching you work on the new home. Great information about soil.
Thanks. I hope the videos are soothing to watch
@@suburbanhomestead very
I really like the design. Very jealous of your soil- I’ve got sand... lots of sand.
Sorry to hear you have sand
Sorry you have sand.
Just lay down a top quality weed barrier then go about building up your soil layer. Depending on how deep you are making your beds if doing raised bedding there are numerous ways to do this without spending a fortune on top soil. You can find many here on yt.
Good luck.
That is some really gorgeous soil you have at your new home - congratulations! Its nice to see gardening be an easier hobby for you now. :) The garden bed you created is SO pretty! As I've said before, you are truly blessed with creativity, Siloé!! Looking forward to all your new episodes, as you are one of my few very favorite vloggers. :) (Oh, and I have been diligent with NOT skipping the advertisements in your videos ;)) Have a beautiful week, my friend!
I really appreciated all the love coming from people like you. Thanks for watching the ads.
nice project.
Thanks
I'm so excited to see this lawn turn into a garden one piece at a time!
Hope you enjoy the journey
When I'm building solo, I use clamps to hold joints in place so I can screw them securely. Just finished a fence project that went quickly because I could clamp each board into place right where it belonged and not worry about it shifting.
I am really enjoying these episodes! You have such a great eye for design, creating something beautiful in place of what could have been boring or even an eyesore. I look forward to more! :)
I started watching your channel about a year ago. My home was built in 1974 so it is not vintage but it has it's charms. It was a family home, and i have rebuilt and repaired it lovingly. I've been reclaiming and recreating all the grass areas into different types of food gardening. I live above the city's farm that they rent out to farmers, so we're all in this together :) we talk over the fence about weather and our crops. Currently because we are all in our Safe Havens, we've all been working on food crops and can wave across the yards to each other. As we go on, we will share food in the neighborhood. I have learned a great deal from watching your videos! Congratulations on the new home, and may your garden thrive!
Thanks, and good luck with your garden and home
The bed turned out beautifully! You had some gorgeous shots in this video too.
Thanks

In this video I was a bit surprised by how close you are to the road. As people drive by routinely I think they’ll be awed by the oasis you are building!
Your new garden beds are works of art! They will be even more lovely as they age. I'm thrilled that you have found the perfect way to complement your new home! Can't wait to see these beds full of abundance! Bravo!

Great job as usual. Thank you, Siloe.

feel free to copy!
You seem so knowledgeable in your soil and planting down to the micro level Do you have a background in horticulture? I love this bed you made I think i can do a little upscaling on a few of mine with your ideas I think it will work far better then the stacking i have done in the past if i can get some Veg to vine too much higher levels ...I love your channel i get so many great ideas
I am just a curious amateur who likes to share what I've learned

Your videos are always such a treat. Thank you for continuing to put them out! 🤗
Thanks
wonderful video! can't wait to see the final outcome
Sometimes I watch just for the sheer poetry
Hah! you may have explained a long standing garden mystery for me, with discussing the soil layers. Cucumbers never grew well in my yard, except for one year which had a huge crop. What I did that particular very hot year (without planning or thinking) was I happened to water the cucumbers by jamming a hose into the soil. Long before anything taking off, I noticed the unusual irrigation method was pulling some fine sandy looking solid to the top. Since the topsoil is pretty heavy clay I figured it may help drainage so left it going that way. With your description of the layers I now think there may have been some needed minerals in that too. Perhaps next season I may attempt to replicate the feat elsewhere in the garden.
I'm happy to hear that. I'm happy to be of help
Wow ! Beautiful!
Thanks
I also have a sloped property. Not extreme, but enough to notice. All the water goes west when it rains. Plans in the works to make drainage ways and a little bog garden where the water likes to just sit and sop around into the back yard.
WOW that's pretty!
I'm out here in the sticks by myself as well, very familiar with growing an extra hand when needed! I had to abandon finishing a shed before winter because the frame was just too heavy and I'm only 5ft2. That's a spring project now, if I can snag someone with a lift assist. Is that your electric car? It seems to be in the same parking spot as the last video👀
We gotta do what we gotta do. The car is a gas model, because electric would not be logistically feasible were I am.
YEEEEES I was so waiting for this... Love from our veganic Homestead/ Sanctuary in Germany
I'm glad you liked it.
love it!!
I love this project you've done and I'm gonna try making it with a few alterations.
I wonder which mini lathe you used?
Warmest regards
Jennie
Omg!! I want one of these!! I'm not sure about measurements though.... 😒
I think it depends a lot on your available materials. I haven't drawn out formal plans with exact measurements, since I do it all by eye.
@@suburbanhomestead Thanks. I'll try to go with what you did to make it easier lovely design.
Drab ugly modern life. Hmmm, you spoke my mind. Somewhere in the fast lane of mass manufacturing we lost individual expressionism that's so rewarding and inspiring.
Love these! How do you make the wire covered panels?
Just wondering what you did with the sod? It seems like it could be a valuable resource for something...compost?
Was this all filmed last year? If so--how did you manage to keep the house a secret for so long?? If not--I am so jealous of your spring starting so early. We get daffodils mid April.
Yes, all my videos are prerecorded at least one year in advance, so I can stitch up the stories
I was wondering if you could keep the water from flowing towards your foundation by using swales or terracing?!?!👍😎
It will be a shallow swale
👏👏👏
👍
Do you have a pattern for the roof rafters?
Unfortunately I don’t since I drew them by eye and traced the first onto the others.
Will you be adding compost or is that unnecessary due to the top soil?
I did not add compost, but you will be able to see what I did throughout the season.
Did you use pressure treated lumber ? If so aren't you afraid of it leaching into the soil ? I want to do this with a micro watering system , I was thinking of putting a liner inside and putting drain holes in the bottom to keep keep the side walls from rot , or seal the inside walls with an epoxy paint ? Any ideas ?
Hi Dave, I explain my choice of pressure treated wood in the previous video. The newer stuff is much safer than previous, but I don’t think they are rated for direct water contact. I would not use it for that
suburban homestead ,so there is no moisture barrier on your bed how do you keep it from getting wet and eventually rotting away when you water your plants?
Goodness....I'm sorry! Was trying to "edit" my post, and not sure what is going on, but it seems I have repeated my posts a few too many times. :( My apologies.
