BACKGROUND STORY
We are steps2adventure, better known as Jordan & Annalise. We created the steps2adventure brand to inspire people to explore what the outdoors has to offer. Back in 2019 we always knew we wanted to travel, we were planning backpacking trips, train journeys.. you name it. Thankfully we came across the van life RUclipsrs! As soon as we saw this way of life we knew this was it, this is how we want to live and travel. So, we bought a van… Not just any van, she’s a 2007 LWB Mercedes sprinter van, an absolute beast!! We have spent over 2 years converting her in-between work and some little adventures across the UK.

We parked in that spot on Cairngorm, stayed several nights at the campsite and cycled a loop round boat of Garten and back past An Lochan Uaine so we walked back up the next day to swim (head above water). Sand is unbelievably natural. Ski bar is Pine Marten. Kayaked on Loch Morlich. Swimming, cycling, walking kayaking paradise. It's nice now we have a van as the weather can be a challenge in a tent!

I swam the circumference but a lot of logs and got midged when I got out, at the end of Sept! Didn't know about leaches either but they're no problem compared to ticks. I got covered with them in Thailand waterfall walking in a monsoon.

Great video guys, I swim in the Green loch in the winter time not seen a leech once, it’s great to camp at the stars at night there are amazing, I wild camp the area a good bit mostly in the winter time when there’s no one about, keep up the great work guys. Atb Wullie ✊🏻🏴
Thanks so much yeah the green loch looked amazing until we saw those leeches a local was telling us there's loads in there but if you keep swimming they won't go on you it's just when your stood still 😂

Love seeing people exploring up here! It’s a whole other world in the Scottish Highlands. They are horse leeches and won’t bother humans.
Love that youse got in the water! The Lochs here are very cold, I do love a good loch swim 😍
Some cracking Lochs up there but the locals in the cairngorms laughed when we said we swam in there 🤣

I didn't realise they had stopped breakfast. In fairness we have been in the area a number of times over the last few years and that's the first we have ever been to the Pine Marten. The youth hostel used to do food as well but I haven't looked this year.

We love the pine Martin we use to get breakfast there but they have recently stopped it 😔😔
You have to be careful with a dog in green lochan in the summer its prone to blue/green algae as well as leeches.
Full of leaches and for summer there hasn't been one 😂😂
I fear I'm more bellend than legend, but such is life. I think you're right about the beach being natural - it's something called a kettle lake, which is a type of usually shallow lake formed by slowly melting glaciers at the end of the last ice age. Beaches are quite common for kettle lakes, given their combination of being shallow, thousands of years old, and surrounded by mountains, so having plenty of small rocks and suchlike to be worn down to sand.
