  • Since Her accession to the throne in 1952, Her Majesty the Queen has graciously served as the Colonel-in-Chief of the Corps of Royal Engineers, assuming the role performed by Her late father, King George VI, from 1936. Our late Queen visited the home of The Corps, Brompton barracks four times during her rein. Highlighting Her close royal connection to the Corps and the #sapperfamily.
Lieutenant General Sir Tyrone Urch KBE, our current Chief Royal Engineer, would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Her Majesty for Her enduring interest in the affairs of the Royal Engineers. Her long-standing engagement has instilled in all ranks a sense of continuity and stability in their service to the Crown over a period of great and profound change to the Armed Services and to the nation as a whole.
Special thanks to ‪@BBCNews‬ South East for covering the Sapper Family story after the funeral procession.

    Just got dusty again. 😢
I felt so proud being stood at the side of Constitution hill watching as members of my beloved Corps came past before our beloved Queen then came past. A day that will stay with me for ever.
Everyone involved with this truly magnificent, no Majestic, ceremony did our nation as well as our Armed forces proud
    Thank you and REspect 🫡
