    The top mappable buttons (alt triggers as you call them) are positioned for claw players. That's why it feels weird to you when you hold it the conventional grip.

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  10 дней назад

      Makes absolute sense. Gotta say though, I kind like the "alt trigger" approach too. It's like a hair trigger that you never need to move the button aside. That's how I'll keep my mapping for the future.

    For anyone who cares. Got mine today. Inputs already stick before an hour of play and I hate the back button layout. The two small ones are great for me but the others force you to grip a certain way. Not like gamesir g7 apex4 or elites. They have better layout on the back. I was trying to get used to it and it would be fine but the software or firmware is bugged. Randomly disconnects and inputs stick without button being bushes. Stick tension is higher than a lot of other controllers but it wasn't bad.

    • @Walklikelions

      I'm returning mine. $220 for a defective product that won't stay connected and inputs stay... its common problems iv seen when I researched. . . .
      IT FORCES YOUR GRIP or disable back buttons. Another con.

    Stop throwing around "Cheating" like it's a normal thing to do... Xbox wouldn't have approved the controller if it was cheating. And I get it's your personal opinion "review" but complaining about where to rest your fingers is ridiculous..

      @GameTechTalk for me it was between the wolverine v3 Tournament Edition or the Vader 4 pro. I chose the wolverine v3 TE was it the right decision? I play esports and I heard the FlyDigi controllers aren't allowed due to their software being too good.

      @@K_ZloX It's possible, if tournaments have certain limitations, I could see certain controllers being limited due to their potential advantages over others. I think the V3 TE (or non-TE) is a phenomenal controller, especially as a launching point.
      In my personal opinion, it doesn't scream: "I'm the best" out of the box, but it becomes that if you give it the necessary time to build your skills with it. It's got that unique shape that I can see working, but with also a learning curve to master, if that makes sense.

    I bough the V3 and sent it back and ordered the Vader 4 Pro, the stick drift was horrendous, for £199 I felt cheated, I use an Elite 2 at present and for the V3 not to have a charger in the case or have stick tension is a joke, the back buttons and the extra 2 buttons on top are perfect, there has been a firmware update for the stick drift but playing call of duty was a nightmare, it didnt feel premium enough for the price, it also felt too small compared to the Elite 2. I love Razer and have a lot of products from them but they missed on this one, they could have made the perfect controller, if this had everything combined from the Elite 2 and Vader Pro 4 I would literally pay £250 - £300 (I have a Razer Kitsune so price is not an issue for a premium product)

Could not be happier with the purchase. Everything is smooth and responsive (and I do not have any issues with the sticks) and wireless connection to the Xbox via dongle is great with no noted lag. As much as I like the gamepad in general, I've never understood the sensitivity clutch thing. The Xbox Elite and even Steam let you adjust the sensitivity curves of the sticks, giving you extra speed in games like Bad Company 2 or Battlefield 1943, even Sea of Thieves originally, where even at max sensitivity the look around speed was a little slow. Why you needed to surrender a button function to turn on the clutch was difficult to understand -- when Steam lets you aim down sights and adjust the aim sensitivity at the same time with the L-Trigger. That said, I am looking forward to getting my Wolverine V3 -- that they have finally made common sense "back paddles" for the thing is fantastic ... if a little late to the party. Plus the hall effect sticks, this one should be pretty great to have 😁

    I've been looking at this controller as a solution to thumb issues that make it tough for me to play games on controllers without causing pain. Razer seems to be the only ones making controllers like these that let me rebind all four face buttons plus both thumbstick clicks off of my thumbs. The Wolverine Ultimate has been a game changer for me because of its six extra buttons, but it's still not great because when they went to four paddles instead of two, they changed them from the comfortable and easy mouse click switches to what feels like very stiff metal dome switches (like the joycon face buttons), along with a very stiff d-pad that wear out my fingers quickly. With all of that out of the way, I had some questions if you have time to answer that I've been struggling to find answers to:
    1. Are all of the extra 6 buttons using the same softer clicky switches as the face buttons? It sounds like only the extra paddles are and not the two extra bumpers, which would be odd since those have always had the mouse click.
    2. How easy are the extra back paddles/bumpers to press? Do they feel stiff at all?
    3. Texture aside, how's the dpad? Does it feel stiff at all, or is it easy to press and hold? Does it have any kind of click-like feedback or is it a bit rubbery?
    Thanks a bunch of you're able to answer any of these.

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  6 дней назад +1

      1. The back paddles feel like microswitches with short travel. The two top bumpers feel more like tactile dome switches but, they do have a rather not stiff feeling at all compared to many dome switches I've felt.
      2. They are all very easy to press overall.
      3. The D-pad is ok, not great but definitely serviceable. It wouldn't be my goto for strictly fighting games but if it was my main driver, I would learn to get better with it, rather than pull out another one. If I was serious or competitive specifically about fighting games, I'd look elsewhere literally.

      @@Leap623 Definitely not too stiff. I don't think it's what the problem is. Or maybe it's not stiff enough? The way I perceive it is that they are super responsive tactile buttons, too responsive that is. When gliding from say a "dragon punch" from Street Fighter 2, the register comes so quickly that it's hard to get it consistent for the game to properly register the command.
      To do so, it's as if you'd have to accelerate the movement but doing so potentially causes more input errors and those little arrows on the d-pad tend to rub harshly on the skin over time. It's not a bad d-pad by any means, but for me personally, I've seen much better.

And when on my Xbox it’s the only wireless controller with next to no perceivable latency. Couldn’t stand the latency on the Elite.

      I'm very familiar with claw grip, can't say I ever spent much time trying to get any good with it but I did have that thought that it would probably work particularly well for one, better than most controllers even. I appreciate you sharing your inputs, hopefully other claw grippers will see that. Cheers!

      @@Douron69 I think for competitive fast paced shooters, it's probably a controller I'd expect most people (that are new to this line of products) to sort of have a "wtf" moment the first few times.
      With that said, I also think that with a bit of commitment and time, it could easily become that: "I can't go back" either. If you're not absolutely in need of wireless, you can also grab the wired edition for half the price. I returned the wireless, and ordered the wired version myself.

    It's nice; but, it's way out of my price range. If I'm dropping $200 on "gaming" then it's going to be for a full blown Android handheld of some sort. I'm really, really smitten with that new Anbernic RG406V for $160ish. The Retroid Pocket 4 Pro and Anbernic RG556 are priced around $200, the same as this Razer controller. I get that I'm comparing apples to poutine here; but, I compare these things because I have a discreet budget for gaming + entertainment and all of these otherwise disparate gaming things fall under that heading. A new $200 handheld is a much better value FOR ME than a $200 controller.
    If I had Tony Beets' gold mining money, I'd be all over this like the Maple Leafs are on not winning a Cup. I'm not going to lie; it looks awesome and it has the GTT Seal of Approval. Those are big pluses in my book. I just can't afford it. Or, more accurately, I can afford it; however, my entertainment and gaming budget will then be busted all to heck because I'll need to rob from future me to buy this Razer for current me. I just can't justify it.
    I liked this review. If I were smart I'd delete everything else I've typed and just leave that. It's short, sweet, and to the point. I'm not smart though. Haha.

    Would you say this controller is better than the Scuf Envision Pro?? 🤔

    • @GameTechTalk
      @GameTechTalk  12 дней назад

      Unfortunately, I do not own the Scuf Envision Pro, I did lay hands on one but that was a few weeks back at a friend's house. Not enough to have any valid opinion about it, I don't remember hating it for the very short time I held it but it came as a fleeting moment during an unrelated conversation.
      So I can only really speak about the Wolverine V3 Pro and I will say, the more time I spend with it, the more it seems to sink it's teeth into my admiration. It's just not imminently obvious, because it commands a certain approach. But I'm getting there and much like I addressed in the video, it's an intentful controller and when used right, it feels as though it'll unlocks a new tier of controller gaming. It's certainly interesting.
