    Guys the "kill the streamer" thing was more ironically, I was playing with 2 other streamers. And yes there are better games to show Chen. I had like 5 stomps earlier in the day where I could have been like "hes so busted" I also had like 5 games in the competitive scene where they stomped with Chen. I am showing this game because we were getting wrecked in the early game, but using his powerful dive combos we completely turn the game around.

    Just wanted to add something about Combo Strikes and Accumulating Flame, you can use your trait as a regular shield+resource channeled gain but you can also quickly hit D and immediately attack again for a "on demand" 2-4 seconds attack speed buff, now if you do this while your enemy hero is ignited you stack a lot of extra 0.75 dot damage so if you jump into a nice position to do autoattacks when your target is ignited then quickly hit D and immediately attack you deal tons of stacking damage on top of all of your other damage talents :D

    Love the video, but I think you undersell Deadly Strike on 4. When solo-laning, you can drink in a bush to have shield, kick with the damage increase, keg smash fire breath, stagger and auto attack, then just disengage using kick on a minion and drink through all the stagger damage.

    • @NotParadox
      @NotParadox  5 лет назад +2

      The build is based on Team Russia's Stalk who used chen to a 70% win rate. I undersell pretty much every other talent because my point is to oversell the talents he used. The Deadly strike requires you to have shield which will be removed in most fights, so he doesn't use it. But I could see the benefit against heroes you will only get small trades.

    I noticed that when clearing waves you throw your W to the mid and back minions, I used to do that too, then realized that even when doesn't looks like you can actually soak some front line minions too in addition to the mid and back line ones you just need to place the W casting circle in a very specific position :)

    The new Brewmaster's Balance requires that you also kick because 30 (Keg) + 10 (Breath of Fire) = 40. The kick is 10 so you'll have to use all three abilities to get both bonuses from the talent.

    Here's a couple of things that weren't mentioned that I've found playing chen that I thought I'd add:
    Chen is not completely unstoppable (don't miss W): we all know chen is good so how about I start with his main (only?) drawback, if you wiff keg, you lose almost all your talents so your damage goes completely out the window. When you miss you should be looking to escape... unless you're too deep then just commit to the stagger S.E.F and try to recover off of that.
    S.E.F empowered abilities: N,P uses empowered W during most of his S.E.F but I find when diving someone who has no escape like most healers you get way more out of empowering E instead, with it your burst is just as insane but you get the added benefit of being able to switch to a secondary target and rip half their health away once your first is down. I also find that a slow is about as good as the root in most situations considering you also get a movespeed buff from empowered E.
    Level 20 talent: I have been playing around with energizing brew as oppposed to elemental conduit and I think it's a more well rounded storm tier talent... for starters the thing lasts 25 seconds so it's not hard to keep it active and it's a flat 20% increase to all damage and HP! I rarely find myself struggling to find opportunities to reapply it when I need to and while it's nice to get the bonus damage and root from empowered W the Q bonus seems totally excessive and you're giving up 20% damage and HP in normal form.
    "Chen has no escapes": well he does have one escape, his Q. It's situational sure but you can play around getting out with it more effectively, paradox has a lot of little positioning errors in this game (I know he played poorly and he gets that) but one of the potential errors he doesn't mention that could have actually saved him is applying more pressure and getting more aggresive. The further you can push your opponents from their own minions the further you can jump to them, if you get jumped by enemies you can charge towards your lanemate and away from their minions as a way of splitting their attention, if the ganker follows you just jump to a minion if they don't try to solo you're lane opponent you might just go 1 for 1 or even 1 for 0 if the ganker doesn't eventually cave and try to help you out.
    tl;dr: don't miss W. try using Fire last instead of Earth in S.E.F. Energizing brew is an insane storm talent. try to position yourself with the quirks of Q in mind, it can be a pretty effective escape at times.

    I build him vastly different and I'd like to share my thoughts.
    For chen, he is exponentially more useful the longer you stay in the fight. Its the exact opposite to the diablo and garrosh one trick tank playstyle.
    Stagger is essential in his frontline game. The better you use this, the longer you can stay in the fight allowing you to deal damage, peel for your team, and increasing your chance to win fights.
    Thus, my build accomplishes two things.
    - Near permanent slow
    - Near permanent 20 armor
    - Improved stagger uptime and mitgation
    - Improved burst damage
    www.heroesfire.com/hots/talent-calculator/chen#kD3y
    Basically, with this you get the following.
    You go in with a shield, deal extra q damage and apply a 70% slow. You auto, granting you 20% armor, then you W for the keg slow, keeping up your 20% armor. If you decide to stagger, you will not only benefit from this armor, but the cooldown gets reduced by each auto. If someone gets away, you drink to get shield and Q which activates another slow on demand and the cycle repeats. You use ult as intended in the video.
    Basically, you become an unbeatable monster and your team will benefit of you permanently slowing something.
    In addition, Regen globes being twice as effective is a fantastic early game bonus for 1v1 laning.

  • @dizzyMongoose
    @dizzyMongoose 5 лет назад

    Minor note: the post-buff Stormstout Recipe talent gives you 2.5%, not the 2% that the old footage shows. That buff should let it keep pace with the Eye of the Tiger healing; the healing you get from the AA damage is about 2.7%, so with 2-3 procs of Eye you get 5.5-8.2% healing if you can connect on your attacks after a Smash. Stormstout spreads the healing out more; you get 5% healing per brew ignite, and then 2.5% every time you kick anything. It gives you some ability to sustain without needing to commit to attacking, but as you noted, you get no damage advantage. I'll note though that from the footage you have at the start of the first game, you would've procced Stormstout 11 times in the first 2 minutes, and you didn't proc Eye of the Tiger once, so you might hit with your abilities more than you notice.

    I think you just have to time your CC well if you want to counter him: if you see him trying to ult just interrupt him and he is dead cassia could also be very good against him because she has a ton of aoe and blinds to mitigate the damage of his heroic, which is mostly from auto attacks. Stukov with the other heroic could be an option too I think, wait for him to jump in his heroic and just smash them away, or falstad... same principle. I think to counter Chen it is more a problem of proper coordination than that it is even possible

    No matter how strong chen actually is, I think they should reduce the cooldown between two W even more. Like, this 1.25 sec is still really annoying. I'm not talking about balance here (I'm not requesting a buff because Chen is weak - which he isn't anymore apparently -), it's just a question of fun and ergonomics.

    Love your videos and explanations, though i do not understand why you dont mention stuns vs him and his ult. If you manage to interrupt his 1 second channel from his ult he is lost and will die after the 3 secs from stagger run out. I played him a lot with your tactics. But imagine an uther or anub paying a bit attention to chen when he dives in you are dead. Still a very strong and powerful build that requires the enemy team to adjust heavily on that pick. But manageable after some training. Besides that imo masterleague America is something different than EU in terms of average skill. Your thoughts on that ? Thx and keep your work up !

    I've just been using abilities with knockbacks to interrupt Chen when he would obviously cast the ult after evasion. It only takes once or twice to fine tune the timing against the enemy player. Hard to see it as op when a single W from Tychus or ETC or Alarak or any other characters with an interrupt ruins the combo and leaves Chen to die on an island.

    I would suggest you use stagger differently, when you jump in, do it with max shields, thats 1-2 hits soaked there, your auto attacks negate like 50% of the damage received from a 1v1 duel with your level 1 talent, making you lose your health at a slower pace, then you stagger when you are at like 70% or so, that will encourage your target to be cautious, and he will probably be at 40-60% by now, if he commits, that means two things, either backup is coming or he is just stupid, either way, you should attack throughout your stagger mechanics til the last second, when you are about to start taking the dot dmg you disengage and drink. And the elusive brawler is better overrall i think, since you can ofset your stagger even further against your target, if its mage type hero, you wont need the extra health regen, but you can pop it for the speed to chase down or dodge if your q is offline, and if its a auto attacker your health regen wont matter that much, but being able to pop your dodge after shields go down, will allow you to stay on the target against a duelist, and the speed is there when you need it, its a nice boost and your auto attacks will bring the evasion back online faster if you rinse and repeat.

    I was wondering about to counter Chen with Zeratul's void prison, catching att pandas after they transfered for 5 seconds, which is pretty much half of the uptime of Storm, Earth and Fire. But might be a waste of a great CC. Ofc. proper counter can be any stun, or cocoon when he has started to cast the spell. Also I was wondering about a possibility to try to counter it with Kael's Pyroblast, trying to time the implosion for the time after Chen has just splitted (but maybe it is kinda impossible to do it constantly, idk). Since Today most of the best counters for Chen were just to disable him, not to be able to use SEF and kill him asap. Garrosh's taunt is a really great weapon against the cast. Also saw a great tacs, where ETC stage dived into stunned Chen, literally one-shotting him. But however as it seems, you need some good team management and enemy control in order to stop this beast.
