      Hey matey I did this for well over a year before I got my first hundred subs which was very very slow all I could suggest is keep pushing videos out For more people to watch, unfortunately because of me I have noticed a massive amount of casting channels pop-up so that’s gonna make it rather difficult for them all to grow . Sorry bout that 🤦🏻‍♂️

      bigstackD Casting Thanks for the tip, I really didn’t write that question well. I don’t mean it as competition this was supposed to be friendly and I can’t see me getting as big as you. At least we don’t game for RUclips that crowd has too many channels. Good luck, I will continue to watch and enjoy your videos every Friday.

      It isn’t that important but I didn’t read your reply all the way through I took that comment the wrong way. Sorry about that. One more question, it rained in Kansas last night after filming and I don’t know if that’s bad for a already cooled down furnace.

I just wanted people to realise what a cheap cop out it is to melt some lava rocks for 5 minutes then pour it onto something for 1 minute and call that a video! it’s bloody disgraceful and it’s an absolute joke and from my point of view as a fellow Caster that’s just not right . Wow... I didnt think you could get THAT much out of the old motors. Good to know and fun to watch. Also, that was a TON of soot-type material after the copper pour. For stuff like that, that is when I say it is crucial to make sure to flux, stir, and slag (or skim). One thing you could try next time, when working with super dirty materials like this, is to put a good bit of flux (borax) in the crucible with materials upon initial firing of the furnace. I think there can be such a thing as too much flux, but a bit sprinkled in with everything so that while it melts down, the impurities will grab on and float to the top. Don't forget to give a good stir, as molten metal is still heavy enough to keep everything trapped in the bottom. If ever you have a soot-pile like that again, might I recommend that you stop the pour, and re-skim, re-heat... It will keep your ingots more pure, and therefore worth a bit more. Also, do you base your prices on scrap values or cleaned values?

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  4 года назад

      I used to rate them on scrap value but in the last year I now go off of current commodities value👍🏻

      Stupid... It can't get heavier... That goes against the laws of physics

    • @kerhy7666
      @kerhy7666 5 лет назад

      @@Lunch_box okay man let me educate you :) I been doing this over 5 years and I have done High School with this domaine so I know something about it... Every material has inside structure of milion parts and when you warm up material that little parts will put back from each other, when you melt it that little parts will disappear and when that melt material pour into that casting jar it will very slowly cool down and that little parts will create again but they are far away from each other and that slowly cooling make that every part connect with other part and create very hard structure :) this take many hours to cool down on air so thats why its quicker put it into bucket with water because in that moment that little parts get cool down shock and their natural reaction is find some "partner" to connect with, otherwise when one little part cant find "partner" its very high chance that material just broke cause in some place isnt connect so he just cant stand that high pressure so he just explode and broke material :) and finally material gets heavier because that little parts will quickly connect in that cool down shock and create bigger squad than it was before melting... Of course its not like some +1 kg or something like that... Often its harder only like 0.1 kg or less but still it gets little bit weight up... So I hope you understand me ❤️ and you probably ask why would he put it in bucket and not on Ice... Well the reason is because in that cool down shock that little parts need to connect to each other and it can happen only in bucket with water, when he put that in Ice in many parts in that material that parts just cant connect so they just explode and create crack inside that material...So when it cool down he can make some surface adjustment and it will looks like good but actually inside of that material is somewhere crack and every part of material has different hardness so it can be problem when you go machining or cutting that material cause somewhere its hard somewhere its softer because that little parts couldnt connect to somebody in that cool down moment :) You can actually see that when he pick up that hot metal and put it on that Ice so mainly middle gets quick cool down but corners almost nothing... You can ask me anything about this I know what I'm talking about 😋😇

    So I see you put .999 on all of the bars. I'm thinking about starting my own operation, do you have to be accredited to be able to stamp that? Or do the bars have to be tested? Or could you just put .999 on whatever you want?

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  5 лет назад +2

      Matey you melt the metal you make the ingot you make the rules you could melt a big pile of brass shine it up and stamp it as gold if you like you’re in charge. Even if it’s only 50% pure you could stamp whatever the hell you like I put .999 as I believe that copper to be bullion quality as all imperfections and crap has been removed and it’s pure clean beautiful copper👍🏻. Some people will have a different opinion and say you can’t do that but really you can do whatever you want there’s always gonna be some haters out there😁

    As a thirty year veteran of scrap collecting I find this compelling viewing but of course there's no money in it. With the price of silver so low that's what you should be melting!

    • @bigstackD
      @bigstackD  5 лет назад +1

      I do have a touch over a kilo silver which I will be melting in the future video but like you said there’s no big money to be made in scrapping , i’m just lucky I get all my scrap for free from my work as the boss lets me go through the scrap bin every now and then as long as I don’t abuse the privilege. I do how ever but my copper pipe offcuts from my plumber brother at $4 a kilo but as this is just a hobby I do on my days off if it costs me a few $$ Here and there I don’t mind . I love building my stack and I don’t ever sell it online or at the scrap yard 😁👍🏻

      Хмм, вы уверенны в том что двигателя исправны? Там люди далеко не глупые, и знают ценность таким вещам. Двигателя сгоревшие, перемоткой вряд-ли кто-то займется, так как это не рентабельно. А так будет материал в виде слитков.

    these videos have made me look at things in a new way. Instead of seeing a broken vacuum cleaner in the dump, I see a motor that is begging to be melted into a beautiful bar. When I see cracked aluminium wheels at a junkyard, I see dozons of ingots. Every metal thing I see is an ingot that should be cast.
    P.s. nice motorcycle! You should come to the Sturgis rally sometime.
