I am seeing a lot of people reacting to the title and not actually watching the video. I love your videos and just started watching them. I currently live in a city but my mother has always taught my sisters and I to prep. We have been talking about it for a while and I have been doing so little by little and storing some away. I don't have much money since I was out of work for about 7 months, but thank the Lord I recently got a job like 3 months ago and am just slowly prepping. My mother is also moving in with me my sister and my brother in law and it is going to help to ease the burden of rent in California lol. I pray that one day I can buy a home but right now but still working on things. But I LOVE this video and you! Def had some hard pills to swallow but I'd rather be prepared than not ❤️. God Bless and keep the videos coming!

@@leticiaurbach6817 Any amount you put toward a debt above the 'required' payment takes down the balance ... when one pays off, add that $$ to the next highest interest debt ... at the same time, a few extra cans of veggies (and a bit of meat) are not too very expensive, and anything is so much better than nothing - - of course, that was my plan a number of years ago ... now, you probably need food first (considering the prices are going up all the time)

We are all about to have a rude awakening. Some of us are old enough to remember the past. The younger generation has been so spoiled by the goodness of living in the USA, that they have no idea what is coming.
They are about to see why our parents/grandparents drove cars until the wheels fell off. And why it was typical to have one car per family. And why young newlyweds weren’t automatically entitled to a fully furnished house. Or lavish wedding (Do y’all remember when a wedding reception typically occurred in the fellowship hall of the church? And the only food was wedding cake, mints, mixed nuts and punch?) A honeymoon might include a night at a hotel, or if they were really lucky they might get a weekend in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
There weren’t restaurants on every corner, because people only RARELY ate out. They cooked every meal at home. Or packed a lunch for the road. And they never wasted leftovers. Picky eaters? You either ate what your Mama cooked or you did without. AND NO ONE CARED. We are about to rediscover potato patties, soup, hash, biscuit pudding, rice pudding and bread with gravy. NO FOOD WAS WASTED.
People had few outfits. You had church clothes and play clothes. And you took care of those clothes. Holes were mended and it didn’t matter if you liked the clothes or not. You wore what you had.
And people didn’t snack or eat all day long either. People were rarely overweight. Because they didn’t have an unlimited supply of food at their fingertips.
People weren’t being constantly entertained. Kids played outside and made up games with their imaginations. No fancy vacations. There was no money for all these extras that we consider “Rights”.
Maybe people will finally wake up and realize that it is a PRIVILEGE to be an American. And feel gratitude and quit being such entitled whiney babies.
People shed blood and died to give us this life.
AND WE ARE STARTING TO PROVE THAT WE DON’T DESERVE IT.
    This is spot on.

My great uncle was born in 1920 and lived on a farm in Southern VA during the Great Depression. Bothmy uncle and grandparents seemed to think that the people in the country fared better than those in the city. Despite having it "easier," one of the summers was so hot, that apples on the south side cooked on the tree. He talked about how hard my grandfather worked doing back-breaking manual labor for barely enough to feed himself, grandma, and dad. When I cleaned out my grandparent's house, I found a log that grandma kept of EVERY SINGLE PENNY they earned and spent. My uncle passed in 2013, but a couple years before he told me he could see another Depression coming and talked about how people today had no idea what hard times were.

You are so correct on being debt free. We have been debt free for 40 years. My husband worked and I was a stay at home mom. We put 2 kids through college during that time also. Nothing belongs to you if you are paying for it and there is a possibility you could loose it. We like owning no one anything. It is not how much you make it is how you manage it. We had all our needs met not our wants. It can be done and I am thankful we did it. At age 791/2 years and 781/2 years young, we can enjoy life knowing what we have is ours and not the banks. Life is good and stress free when you are out of debt. We will be married 60:years in a few weeks. We are prepared and putting our trust in Jesus and depending on Him in all of this. It's definitely a new lifestyle and I enjoy it most of the time, but today I really wanted to go shopping and to go out and eat, but I can't afford it. So I cooked myself a hamburger, went out and did some yardwork and paid attention to my new baby chicks. Once I am truly settled here, I'll probably get another job or substitute teach. I decided my time was better spent on making my garden and building a little place for my chickens and rabbits. It's a lot cheaper to do it yourself than to pay someone to help you. So, maybe I'll buy a few silver coins or some junk silver- but not until I get a water catchment system set up, a small chicken house built, my garden planted, and some food canned.

Honestly, no one wants to hear, "lose weight", but it's so true. The best thing you can do for yourself is be as healthy as possible, and I'm sorry if this offends people, but being overweight/obese puts you not only at risk of serious and commom health conditions, it also means you will be less likely to defend yourself and keep up with the daily struggles of the new way of life that is coming. This is coming from a person who has always struggled with weight. I recently lost 40lbs, but I need to lose another 30lbs to be considered within a healthy weight range, so there is absolutely no judgement coming from me. We all need to get used to hearing truth without being offended or taking it personally. It's the only way we grow and become better versions of ourselves. I don't recall Jesus ever saying in the Gospels, "You're perfect as you are. Live YOUR truth." We wouldn't have needed Him to come then. Anyways, long winded way to say thank you for telling us the hard truths Patara! I appreciate you! Love from Canada! Please pray for us, we need a lot of help up here.

I am a fan of WWII history and my mother grew up during the depression and war and her stories have helped me immensely. If you want to learn how people make it thru a tough scenario read some books, even historical fiction books, on the people who lived in London during the Blitz. They had some time to prep for war and rations came, they turned every piece of grass to a garden but they kept.......on ....going! Even when the Germans bombed a neighborhood 2 blocks away, you got up the next day and went to work if your business still stood- if not you helped the cause and helped others! If there isnt one, I would not take any gold or silver in barter, because it would be useless to me... Also, I will never trade security items except with trusted family members... Do NOT trade security items with anyone else because you would be trading off items that will enable your possible enemies the very thing they need to kill you and take away everything else you have.

My grandmother used to say "you can't eat dirt", but you have some seeds and you can survive. Another video I watched on the history of corn cribs earlier today reminded me: growing tomatoes is fun, but Appalachia folks and their animals lived or starved on how well their corn crop filled their corn crib through the winter. Hominy cooking process, popular in some cultures/areas, releases vital nutrients from the corn and can be made into grits or tortillas -- that regular ground corn flour does not have.

My grandad had a corncrib. I remember shucking a lot of corn to fill it several times over! The entire family of grandparents, parents, aunts & uncles, and cousins would work several days filling it up! We ate our fill of grits, corn pone, cornmeal muffins, and cornmeal pancakes with Grandad's sugar cane syrup. He fed many a hog that filled our freezers, and the cows got the corn stalks & shucks. Those were the days, and this younger generation doesn't have a clue what's about to hit them. My son grew up knowing how I stocked our pantry. Now he's got his head in the sand, and I don't know how to shake him out of it. Smh!

How wise, make it through the critical phase. Even having a homestead for years you made me realize I needed to be buying can food, because you are right I can't grow everything. Then during spring planting we got sick. We are still getting it in the ground, but late. Our goal, to make it through. Great info, thanks. Blessings

Has anyone else had their garden raided? We went to pick the squash, green bean s, and the cucumbers. All that was left was the cucumbers. Guess they don't like pickles. We weren't real upset but it costs money for heirloom seeds, water, and fertilizer. Our fertilizer is cow manure (processed) an bag and leaves mulched.

Patara, every time Kroger puts chuck roast on sale for half price. We pick up a lot and then I can it for beef tips or beef stew. After it goes through the pressure canner, it taste like a very tender steak. Today, I canned 6 quarts of beef tips. The smell is driving me crazy, I love beef tips. It gets hard smelling it all day and not having it for dinner. Tomorrow I'm canning beef stew for hubby. We spent our extra money on 20 pounds of chuck roast. The main thing is we are getting extra protein in our pantry. In Prescott Valley, Arizona chuck roast goes on sale about once a month.
