I'm a 67yo woman living alone on a 12 acre forest homestead in eastern Washington state USA. I relish my solitary life sharing the forest with many wonderful wild animals. The trees are great company.
I'm a new subscriber to your channel and impressed. I have great respect for your beautiful and haunting music. Your videos are DIVINE.
Thank you.
You are living my dream 🥰
I live in Washington state to..maybe one day I’ll be surrounded by trees and not houses that’s my wish
@Amber Ragsdale my ultimate dream is moving to PNW and finding land with trees. Usually I spend every year out there to get away from chaos of city life in Utah.
@@Roamingloba Washington got beautiful places but holy shit it’s expensive I’ve lived in Washington all my life
Welcome :)
thank you wardruna for telling the old stories today

@Gary Snow it depends of what past u had,if u were a crazy person or a criminal or who knows what, than yes but if u are a good human being than it's all ok
Mr.Thunder feels at peace when he listen to wardruna
Oh Einar. If only more people listened to your words.
"they were smarter" in a sense that they lived with the acceptance of death every day; we live like there is no such thing, or we are scared of it. This changes the way we think, plan ahead and act
Danke ♥️
I said this elsewhere and say it again here: Kvitravn is nothing less than a cultural genius for me! Not only because of his obvious great musical talent, but because I think he is absolutely on point with his approach to the arts and his (re)interpretation of the continuous motifs of life, that connect humans, generations and culture throughout time - manifested in his style and content alike.
I do agree. But is'nt Kvitravn the albums name? Band: Wardruna ; Main Singer: Einar Selvik ; Album: Kvitravn?
@@sapereaude9737 Kvitravn is Einar's alias or artist's name. The album title is eponymous after that name.
@@domsjuk Ahh, good to know. Thank you mate
@@sapereaude9737 Welcome :)
Indeed, he is a cultural hero and wisdom keeper. Extraordinary human being.
"We learn from the past, we don't copy it." Powerful words that I wish more of society lived by. Love the music. It speaks to me on a deeper level.
Amazing work as always!!
"We learn from the past, we don't copy it" Those words resonate with my heart.
I feel like people (including myself at times) romanticise Viking culture based on the growing presence it has in media. As badass as your music is, I’m beginning to understand the depth and complexity of your culture and just how much more there is to it.
Much respect from Yorkshire
So much Norse culture in Yorkshire of course. I live in Nottinghamshire and have lots of hidden secrets here.
Mate I forget I live 30 minutes from York. Spoilt for choice when I think about it.
Respect
Personally i always thought Vikings were awesome even as a kid when they were not as popular as they might be now, its just a very interesting culture overall and considering its age very progressive in some aspects of society compared to its direct neighbours of early medival culture and so on.
And the music just sounds amazing, i do enjoy all kinds of different genres but i feel like Viking/Norse songs and "sound" is very true to the nature of music. I feel like, its not trying to "impress" the listener but rather convey emotion and tell a story, i think that just makes it amazing to listen to.
We once believed the world was one, like a tree. Created between ice and heat. Christianity came and told us the world was a creation of God destroyed by a Devil. To me, our old belief makes more sense due to what we learn in science.
It surely does, I am awed the deeper I dig into the Norse Mythology. It has been presented as shallow but really is incredibly layered. I have learned to see so many things through the years since I was a child.
that is not christian teaching though. the devil can only distort, he cannot create, nor even destroy. you could apply einars words to christianity too, it is undoubtedly part of our western heritage as well and there are great things to learn from it.
@@AvaIor I agree there is a lot to learn from the Bible too. It teach you about human societies and the power of story-telling. All other living creatures ARE their story, we have the possibility to create our story - and create new when our societies is destroyed by unintended consequences of our actions (due to our stories). Jesus told the story of care/compassion for other humans. Now we need a story about care and respect for life itself - an old story we once told.
As I watch this, the crows caw above me, as I find they seem to do so, most everywhere I go as of late.
I may not be long for this world.
I pray the world is a better place for my time here. May I have the strength, the courage and the resilience to make it so.
Of love. For love. With heart and soul.
For our childrens birthright of liberty and peace.
On my feet, fighting. With tenacity, cunning, skill, temperance and mercy.
May our foes become allies,
lest the arrow find its mark in terrorist and tyrant.
Peace be with you all.
Jeg elsker deg
Love these bits of Wisdom you provide us. We need to learn, not repeat. Thank you.
The background song is absolutely amazing!!!!!
totally agree, can't wait to hear it
Thank you, Einar. Living in America and seeing this bizarre addiction to imitation that so many people have, these have essentially been my words of advice to them. Because real culture comes from a place of honor and recognition of our position in the world, and how we choose to collectively respond to it. Pop(ular) culture is just a constant dosage of passing fads that have been prescribed by media and marketing to keep people competitive over trivial things and keep them invested in the system instead of their own betterment.
I've seen some great beliefs get turned into fads and forgotten here; some things that could really help this country if they were truly embraced.
Your music touches and awakens people more than it entertains, and that's precisely what we need more of.
From when I was a little child I liked the Norse culture so much, at first I liked those resilient warriors who had no match but as I grow older I have much more appreciation for Norse Myths. Thinking about what parts relate to us nowadays could reveal a potential solution or relative realization.
It is the act of every wise man to learn from the past and share it.
this album is going to be INSANE.
Already pre-ordered! Can't wait!! Thank you Einar for all your music!

Was just listening to your new song for the 100th time. And I absolutely agree with you. The knowledge of our ancestors has developed over thousands of years. It is and always will be relevant. However, as you said, we should also use it in a way that makes sense and we should go with the time, as they did.
this makes so much sense. We don't copy the past, we learn from it, from the good and the bad things and we try to be better today trough our past mistakes. Thank you Einar
Einar, you speak of the true revolution.
That bass line drone tells me all I need to know
Wardruna is the best.
Spine trembled when the music came in for like a second omg
My absolute favorite Nordic music! You awoke something ancient in me years ago!

"For the people that are here and now"!
We must care of our roots, without them we are only dust spreading by winds of time. Very wise words. Tack så mycket.
100% agreed!!
If you want to thank Einar in his language it's "Takk så mye" in Norwegian.
@Gary Snow what the hell are you on about?
@Gary Snow Our roots are very popular in the world right now, though often misunderstood
@Gary SnowI'm Swedish. My ancestor have lived in Sweden for countless generations. There I said it. Will I get banned now? GTFO with that bullshit of yours. You're free to talk about your roots anywhere you want. You're just making yourself out to be some sort of victim.
"History is bound to repeat, for those who are ignorant of it."
Forgot who said this but very wise words indeed
Put these all together. You are creating an amazing saga yourself.

A visionary and a poet. We walk an old road, but towards the sun. Túsen takk, Einar.
Is there a reason you've added an accent to "tusen"? It's not used in Norwegian.
@@thomasnorb4077 Yes, there is. In my mothertongue Westlauwersk Frisian, we use 'túsen' instead of Norwegian 'tusen'. Hence my typo. Thanks for correcting me. ;-)
(And 'takk' would be 'tank')

I Cant wait for the new Album! ❤
I love the Voice and Instrumental.

Well said brother, well said. 👏
Einar, you have a very very special gift. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I understand your sentiment. To me, we don't have to BE the warriors of old, to work to inherit their strength. Their strength is the tool we carry with us, to effect positive change on the world.
Ooh jag vill höra mer av denna låt!! Din musik får mig lugn och känna att jag förs till en bättre plats. Din musik får min ångest att försvinna!

thank you wardruna that you whas in vikings. your group did make some scenes much much better with your music.
Preordered a while ago... it kinda feels like im waiting for a big present that arrives soon :)
Not to surprise that everyone can understand the lyrics until they read, it is the music that connect simply hearing the first time. Once understood the lyrics it directly gets added to the playlist. It's listening and learning.
Thanks.
I 100% agree with the message of Einar Selvik, thank you for your beautiful, deep and healing music as well as for having this noble mindset!

Will we ever find out the name of the song playing in a Vikings episode? It's when Athelstan appears to both Ragnar and King Ecbert as a ghost - the 'mercy, mercy, mercy' scene.

Thank you for sharing this. So beautiful and wise.
A very wise man
I very recently had a conversation with my mentor, with whom I agree and disagree in equal measure, about the symbolism of the runes. He put forward that he disagreed with my outward passion for the runes and the Runaljod - Though closer to an animist himself than anything else, he believed that the bad apples of this "neo-Pagan" movement had so poisoned the vision of the runes that they would only be seen as symbols of hate. He understood why I feel the way I do towards them, mind - Similar to he, I have been living alone since I was 15, and had a life of tumult. The Runaljod helped me find my center during that time. However, he expressed concern that people would be averse to my passion for animism and the runes.
In this video, Einar, you have put perfectly into words and song my feelings towards that argument. It does not make sense to romanticize a warrior culture bent on purity, as these bad apple neo-Pagans have done. We *learn* from the past. We do not copy it.
I wish to express how grateful I am to you, that you should make aware so many people of ways of wisdom that otherwise may not have found it. Your music touches the souls of Pagans, animists, Christians, Muslims, and agnostics like myself. I believe you help us all understand that we are all a part of this world.
Thank you, Einar, for your wisdom. Thank you, John, my mentor, for challenging me always. Thank you, nature - In life I shall strive to give back.
Wise words

sound of the gods🖤
So much respect for Wardruna and the life they bring to the world. Life that honors the past and works for a greater future.
I love it! Thank you Einar for your relevance 🙏🏻
Einar NEEDS to write a book or something. He knows more about Old Norse beliefs that most people with PHDs in the subject.
Well thought, Well said
Skål! Bror!... Skål!...
Beautiful ✨✅🙏
"Odin is with us!"
No, you are being demographically replaced.

I love you 💕
Those are wise words...
agree. Greetings from Poland ^^
I have never watched the Vikings show, never thought the romanticism of Vikings and old Norse mythology was a way to understand the past. I like how Einar says Wardruna is for people living in the now. I spent the summer of 2013 and 2014 backpacking Norway, Sweden and Denmark, visiting ancient sites to immerse myself in the feelings these sites evoked in me. Wardruna was the voice that first brought me to Scandinavia in 2012. Thank you Wardruna, for giving guidance to my innate desire to explore new lands. To this day, Norway holds the most special place in my soul.
