2:30 map is incorrect given the conext of the first calculation of Earth's circumference. By Cleomedes's earliest surviving account, Eratosthenes measured in Syene (Aswan) and Alexandria, circa 200 BCE, both within the Ptolemaic Kingdom. Not Gaul and Macedonia. Where did you get that?
The Sun - in fact, our whole solar system - orbits around the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. We are moving at an average velocity of 828,000 km/hr. But even at that high rate, it still takes us about 230 million years to make one complete orbit around the Milky Way!
If there is a redshift of light in the universe because of distance, then galaxies that move away with constant velocity seem to move away with acceleration. So there is no need for bigbang-theory, expanding universe, dark energy, multiverses or end of the universe?
Hi Ron! Point understood and well, not necessarily means those theories are not needed; redshift is part of how astronomers know the universe is expanding and The big bang is how astronomers explain the way the universe began; so would be hard to nullify those theories all at once since they have different purposes. Thanks for watching and letting us know your thoughts!
Hello there. Thank you for your video. Can you assist me with a query please. Will the Jupiturna alignment this December be worthy viewing from my 54°N latitude? Where shall i look and when? Thanks for your help. Alberta, Canada.
There is not specific mention of the discoveries made by Ancient Egyptians. Why is that? No assignment of who made discoveries at the foundation of the oldest scientific discipline. Why? Thanks for the math shout out.
This video lacks vital information. How wasn’t egypt accurately described as the founders when you say they were using it astronomy since 4000 bc when Rome wasn’t even a thought yet. And then you say “basic” like Greece and everyone else didn’t steal that info from kemet.
Isn't funny they calculated the wrong circumference of the Earth , its clearly 40075 km , with a margin error of 0.18. God created almost perfect 40000 sphere....in meters. Stupid ancient people didn't know God loves round figures. lol..... and meters. How diiiiid we invent the meter btw....? x lol
Yes there was great work done by islamic scholars , however one should be offended over it as isn't the purpose of education and reading is. Standing on the shoulders of giants so to speak.
If you read “Mazzeroth” by Frances Rolleston she gives credit to Abu Ma'shar al-Balkhi (Albumasar) for much of her studies. If you google they call Copernicus credit for astronomy. In the Bible they discuss the Hebrew Mazzeroth and “the bears” “Orion” “Pleiades “ all in Job. Job is the oldest book in scripture. Albumssar also gave credit to the father of astronomy to Asia and Egypt as Seth (son of Adam and Eve/Chava.) Egyptians have some myth characters such as Set/Tet which evolved to Thoth as being father of astronomy.
What I find amazing, is how the narrator can simply use inflection while regurgitating words without ever comprehending get those sentences meant to impart facts in turn, impart knowledge. Instead he just drones on without a clue that any of those facts mean anything. Dislike unsubscribe and block.

Astronomy is fun!
I really do not know much about astronomy and I just came across this video by chance but it has definitely piqued by curiosity insanely now
well how are you after a year?
sir, you did very nice job by telling history but you missed some major events like calculation made by aryabhatta ,bramagupta and ramanujan
Super helpful for beginners wanting to learn more

I wonder what the Ancient Greeks thought that stars were! 😛
I was strolling in the park one day astrology

Awesome
Nice.
Glad you enjoyed!! Thanks for watching
you are smart
This video is not mentioning about vedic astronomy which is more ancient and profound
Where is a good video comparing all ancient civilizations astronomy?
I’d like pre Greek history!
Well, if it wasn't them other people would have made the same observations and discoveries bringing us to today.
As we see in futuristic movies with multiple planets in the scene, can planets actually be that close to each other?
Not planets, but if they are all moons of one planet they can appear that close in the sky
Anything is possible. It is entirely up to chance.
Is the object collapsing in the intro a neutron star?

😮
so where is Mesopotamia?
💖💗❤️💟💝
Was he suggesting the greeks were first to document the stars
I came here for that specific reason. Not once did they mention kemet smfhh
5:00...stone henge.....not stone hedge.
Where are we going?
Galileo Galilei was Italian, not Greek!
Well, that's exactly what he mentioned in the video

Hi
I hated to see the undressed lady at the beginning.
I was just reading that the sun has entered a new cycle? Can you pleaseee do a video explaining solar cycles?? Tnx
Hi Ethan!
We are always in constant thinking of what could be the next Topic! Thank you for your suggestion! Will look it up ;)
This is on power with a sixth graders book report on the history of astronomy that he got from a pamphlet in his Grandma School library.
