That part where the guy pretending to be a woman implying a real woman who can’t have children isn’t a real woman is very insulting.
Yeah that wasn't the greatest definition. I think Matt himself made the point once: just because you have a disease/mutation doesn't mean you aren't still a man or a woman. That just means you're a man or woman with a disease/mutation.
It's rarely said in these debates but there's other factors that make up the sexes beyond your role in reproduction. Genitalia is just the easiest measurement. There's also bone structure, musculature, and hormones. It goes right down to your DNA!
I think the other idea to consider is that even if a woman cannot get pregnant all her parts are still ordered towards that biological reality.
In fairness to Matt's interlocketer I don't they are trying to say women who are impeded in child bearing are not women. They want to say that Matt's definition of woman leads to that absurd conclusion therefore we shouldn't hold to Matt's position.
I think Trent responds to this objection well with his teleological approach to defining what a woman is.

VERY and it’s incredibly frustrating. A butch lesbian is still a woman. More of a woman than a man who’s identifying as a woman.
My 10 year old daughter is hearing the crap out there. I am a outdoorsman and overtly masculine. She is my little side kick, and I take her hunting, fishing, and shooting all the time. She came home one day and asked if she should be a boy because she likes doing these activities with me. I explained that she is just a girl that likes to be outdoors with her daddy like so many other girls. It doesn't mean anything other than that. I went on to youtube to show her channels of girls that love the outdoors and are very girly at the same time. It made her feel better. The poison is out there more than ever parents. She has clung more to mamma since then. I think some of the worry is still in her head. My wife teaches religion at the local Catholic school. She gets all sorts of questions about this stuff from the kids. They have whole lessons now to combat this warping of the mind.

I think back to my childhood as what used to be referred to as a Tom boy growing up and I couldn’t imagine being told I was actually a boy. It’s so heartbreaking that she’s even had to question herself because of these ideas. Keep strong and be there for your daughter. Keep telling her it’s okay to be a girl who likes to fish, hunt, camp, etc. I am one of them and, as you pointed out to her, there are many girls and women who love to do these activities or even work in professions (like welding) that are almost entirely men but still maintain their femininity. @@Superduper666 No, my wife teaches a lesson on identity confusion. She lets the kids know that God made boys and girls differently for a special purpose. She explains how things are a spectrum and that sometimes boys and girls like the same things and it's okay. I wouldn't be surprised if some teachers at public schools lead kids into gender dysphoria.

@@suki2404 fair enough. Yeah it's a big controversy right now. I'm genuinely interested to know what your friend means by saying she's not female but is a woman. I find it hard to distinguish the difference between one and the other. I always understood woman to be the more common usage of the definition of the word female. Kind of like you can say kid, child or adolescent. All mean basically the same thing just some are more appropriate to use in different contexts. Do you know what your friend means by what they said?

I'm a Veterinarian and a medical doctor, defining male and female is easy - XX is female, XY is male in all mammals and most vertebrates, period. I love when transgenders bring up Turner's syndrome as proof that chromosomes can produce confusion. Turner's syndrome by definition only occurs in males - read a medical book. If a Y chromosome is present, then the person is male (Turner's are XXY, so are by definition male, though they may have some secondary sex characteristics of females like breast development and female body shape). If there's a Y, its a guy - SCIENCE! Also, when I was in medical school transgender was considered a delusional disorder. I can identify as a bird all I want, never gonna fly.
Quick correction, Klinefelter's is XXY. Turner's is just X and only affects girls.
99% of people have 10 fingers so we say people have 10 fingers. We dont change the definition or number of fingers because theres anomalies.

I think generally that's true, but our genetic (and all biological and psychological sex characteristics) stem from the fact that we were created as male and female and then all characteristics flow from thst. I think that's the only way to address the intersex issue, without completely dismissing it. Intersex conditions, while a small percent of the population, still effects thousands of people who don't always have XX XY chromosomes, so that can't be the basis of our understanding of what sex you are, even if it usually applies.
As a woman who's 8 months pregnant. Yeah most of us females find this insulting. I've never felt more like a woman than right now with a bowling ball on my bladder.

Just a reminder l: gender dysphoria can actually be chronic. It can’t always be cured with therapy.
Can we all just take a step back for a second, and look at how absolutely insane our society has become? The fact that we're having to have these debates at all is crazy. Seamus from Freedom Toons was saying something along the lines of, "As a teenager in the pro-life movement he was hopeful about the future. Now as an adult, he's having to explain to other adults, the difference between boys and girls."

Actually this is a debate that should’ve been had a while back. It’s exactly the lack of knowledge on sex/gender that got us in this situation. People need to ask “what is a man/woman” and be given a logical answer like trent’s. That is not a question nearly as asked as it should.

On the other side so disappointed and sad to see more and more Psycologist who are not doing their job, like this one, who supposed to be there to help preferred to used a double standard not helping at all. You have to remember that many of these doctors and psychologists are apart of public entities, i.e. schools and universities, that will have to weight the pros and cons. Pros is conformity garuntees financial stability over standing up on principle and potentially lose it all. Being blacklisted is what is keeping so many professionals held hostage to the whims of modern culture. It is very sad.

What I find to be hypocritical or conflict of interest is they call gender a social construct, but at the same time they claim it as fact. It cannot be both.
Or that men cant have an opinion on abortion, but yet they say men can get pregnant. Or that it’s not a life unless the mother wants it.

The other issue I see in that is that many repeat the "social construct" concept as fact, but they are ignorant of the philosophy, literary critique etc in which the idea originates. Consequently, they dint seem to perceive that it's a theory not fact, and it's very ideologically motivated and not something truly interested in truth. Indeed, as it originates from Derrida, Foucault etc. It is rooted in a philosophy which denies the existence of truth and meaning themselves... Yet they then claim to be arguing truth lol. Often, academic articles written with this influence are just intellectual masturbation masquerading as sophistication.

Biology doesn't create categories, humans do. To try to assume that biology carries around category tags is silly. We can define something based on chromosomes etc. but the chromosomes themselves don't care what humans call them, they just do what they do. It's arbitrary and relative. Don't anthropomorphize biology.
Walsh mentioned to Matt Fradd that a lot of the conversation was edited out. Something to keep in mind… also, thanks for saying that not everyone has to debate the same way. People shouldn’t be policing tone or style of debate.

For what it’s worth, Matt Walsh DID bring up the race identity question but it was cut for time in the final version (see Pints with Aquinas interview).
There was that Rachel chick, too, who was head of a chapter of NAACP but was white and “identified” as black.
@@EpoRose1 interestingly, ones ethnicity is actually on a scale, as one can have multiple ethnicities within their biology. The concept of "race" is actually more of a social construct, than sex is. Sex is diamorphic and binary in mammals. Ethnicity is not.
Walsh didn't give a circular response of "a woman is a woman." He said a woman is an "adult HUMAN female", and female is not exclusive to humans. It's a biological term that is used across species (i.e. DOE, a deer, a female deer). I do think Trent gave a more careful definition of "female", but don't think Walsh was far off. There's nothing wrong with Walsh saying a woman is female. Just like saying a doe is female is correct; we're losing the biology of female-ness. While also often, and sadly, losing the dignity of what it means to be human and made in God's image.

My godson loved playing with dolls as a young boy, which made his little sister happy. He grew into a high-school athlete, spent 8 years in the marines and is now married to a lovely woman. And the alpha male in him is a marshmallow with his kids. He's an awesome, sweet, nurturing, but also protective dad. So glad he was born long before this insanity and his mother was not a looney who assumed his playing with dolls meant he was gay or born in the wrong body.
I was a total tomboy as a kid. I never played with dolls. I would absolutely refuse to wear a dress. I was athletic. I was into sport and preferred playing with the boys. I never once thought I should be a boy.
When I became an adult I embraced my female physique. I wear dresses and makeup. My interests remained in sports and I work in tech. I didn’t have kids because I didn’t want them. So many traits remained but I’m 100% a woman. In today’s world society would have convinced me otherwise.

"Woman" and "female" are not synonyms.
"Female" is someone who, under typical circumstances, can produce large, immobile gametes. A "woman" is someone who, under typical circumstances, can produce large immobile gametes AND who has reached adulthood.
Girls and women are both female, but "girl" and "woman" are not interchangeable, except in the most casual sense of the words.
I do really appreciate that you address the XX/XY aspect of the argument.
My almost 3 year old grandson says he´s a big girl now. He doesn´t know what he is saying; he says that because his 4 yo sister says it. Such a shame there are people that would think he identifies as a girl.
His father should be stressing the FACT that the child is a boy, to fail to do so could be dangerous these days. My youngest brother wasn't sure he was a boy as a toddler since he had long hair and was quite cute. He was told he was a boy, his hair was cut, problem solved.

I think "adult human female" is actually the best definition. Because it takes away the social construct aspect of the arguement. We classify animals as females and males. And its very easy to use scientific classification as an argument.

I guess because it's part of the branches of science that must be overlooked due to words and their actual definitions, not the one's made up in Gender Studies or sociology classes. It makes it perfectly clear that humans are mammals, which are animals. A fact many of the narcissistic take offense at, even though it's just the truth. And because mammals are determined to be male or female based of their biological sex alone, not what's happening in the mind. How do we tell a male from a female in any other species - cats, dogs, elephants, whatever...is the exact same process for humans. This is where the true nature of ideology is really seen. So they they don't talk about it, there's nothing they can do to fix it.

Adult human female IS the definition. And he did elaborate properly on that. He explained it perfectly. Abnormalities aren't a rule and don't change the definition.
I support Walsh in not further engaging the “what is a woman” debate. It would have detracted from the point entirely, which is the gross insult transgenders foist upon women by calling us “an umbrella term.” What a hateful statement that is. And what a hateful way of thinking to consider my body, my God-given biology, a matter of argumentative reduction. Walsh did great.

Agreed. My sister has anorexia. Calling her fat would be a viciously sadistic thing to do. Same goes for trans people. It's an extremely bad look to go out of your way to prey on someone's psychological weaknessness to say the least. Personally I'd say it takes a special kind of evil to do that.
I don't think misgendering people is the way to go about this debate, but for them to say we don't know what women and men are is ridiculous. We've known for thousands of years! I wish the LGBT would at least meet us halfway on that.

It is the same, it's disphoria. I am a recovering anorexic. If I was a teen today for sure I would be diagnosed and transition right way. I still don't see myself in the mirror. I have distortion in my own perception and body disphoria and I have to struggle every day to not starve myself.

I think the transgender movement confuses (perhaps on purpose) gender identity with gender roles (women clean, men drive trucks, etc). I agree with questioning gender roles. Nothing wrong with that and many of those gender roles I would agree are socially defined (social construct). That's critical thinking. However a feminine man with long hair and make up is a feminine man with long hair and make up.
Something that bugged me about this whole thing is how people like to say "if you do x and like x then clearly you are x." Luckily, I myself know who I am and have never questioned it. I know I'm a woman who likes to wear my hair short, (sometimes would have it shaved at one side) or that I can relate more to most men than I can to women, and that I have always been a bit of a tomboy. There are times that I like things that are more feminine, but this has never made me question whether I'm a male or female. I remember one time at work, a customer kept calling me sir despite the fact that I don't really look like a man at all, I just had short hair. My facial features and structure are still very feminine. I politely said "I'm a girl," and he apologized and said he wasn't sure because of this day and age, you can never be sure. I just laughed and let it go.
Another time, I had someone talk to me about what I identified with because they didn't want to be rude, and I just kind of looked confused because, other than short hair again, I am still very female in appearance. I said I'm a girl, I've just got short hair because I'm a tomboy, to which they said "Oh, sweetie, there's no such thing as a tomboy. You're just confused about your gender and are most likely a trans who is being told by society that you have to be labelled as a "tomboy." I explained that No, I knew I was female, I just liked doing things that some would consider more masculine, but I also like to be cutesy and adorable as well some days. And then I get told "Oh, so you're gender fluid, that's all. Don't let society label you, be who you want to be. More people are a part of the LBGTQ+ than they realize."
I was completely stunned at how to react. They said don't let society push their labels on me, but that's exactly what that person had done, pushed their label onto me. They make you think that you can't be just a man or just a woman if you like things of opposite gender. They want to take those stereotypes away, but then live by them too? Why can't a man like the color pink and be a hairdresser and put on make up and not be considered gay? Why can't a woman shave her head, wear tattoos and not like to dress up without being considered butch? Why is it that men and women cannot enjoy the things they do without people telling them "that makes you x or y"? I think it's hypocritical to say they don't want to be labeled as what their biology says they are, but they are quick to label others.

Agreed. I am also a tomboy and always have been growing up. I also like to keep my hair short and have never been one for makeup or dresses but I am still a woman. The only time I wondered about being a boy was when I was figuring out my sexuality. Because growing up the only thing I saw that was ok was for a men and a woman to be together. It wasn't till I was older that I saw that liking woman was okay and I wasnt broken. So yea I am a women, a tomboy and a lesbian. Thats it and their is nothing wrong with that.
The original posters comment above, is an excellent example of the regressiveness of the ideology being promoted as being "progressive". It is anything but.
I'm glad Walsh spoke up about such nonsense. I have always said, I don't feel like a woman, I am a woman, it has nothing to do with how I feel. Feelings can change and often do. When we allow our feelings to hijack our intellect we can just about justify anything we want, and we're off to the races! I refuse to buy into this they, them, she, he, I will treat all people as we should as a child of God, but I will not enable them in their delusions. To do a would be un-Christ like!

While I agree with you on almost all the points, I think you were wrong when saying that Adison had a good comeback to Matt. No, he didn't. A ten year old knows that if a woman cant have kids it doesn't mean that she is not a woman anymore. What? She suddenly becomes another species???
It's like if in a war a man gets his genitalia blown off, does this mean he's not a man anymore? He still is, only with a disability. But still a man.

I disagree, Lina, not on the basis that your conclusion is wrong, but on the basis of the argument's strengths in the face of a neutral third party.
He defined what a woman is, and Adison poked a hole in that definition. The fact is that it doesn't change reality to suddenly make Adison correct, of course! But being right doesn't mean that Walsh gave a good definition in the first place, because it creates the illusion that his position is full of holes.
We're not just trying to find the truth for ourselves, but to try to encourage repentance from these social ideas that lead to willful separation from God.
@@soulcutterx13 I definitely understand where you are coming from, but I also believe that part of the problem is that such rediculous things were let to be entertained. As if a knowledge gained and acknowledged by people for thousands of years is not good enough just because we now have computers or other tech stuff, so those people (before us) were morons and we are now just discovering the "truth".

And maybe Walsh could have expressed his definitions better; I mean there are always people who are better than you/me/or Walsh in defining stuff but that doesn't detract from the core truth.

I partially agree. Everything that needs to be said, has been said. Social media has solidified our polarization. People who are vested in our future are done communicating with each other. The only BIG plus in all of this, is all the various orthodox/fundamental Christian sects are being backed into the same corner. And could play a role in bringing back a reunification of the Church. God willing.

Very good definition of woman! Another thing that surprised me from the Dr. Phil video, was the text underneath of the transgender panelists. They placed "non binary transmasculine" or "non binary transfeminine", and that seems such a logical inconsistency, because they are using words as masculine/feminine to identify themselves and at the same time they claim to be neither by saying they are non binary. They destroyed their case right there, imo.

Blackface today without the same racist context and attitudes should not be seen as inherently racist anymore than a swastika in India outside of the attitudes of eugenics and the Nazi party should be seen as anti-semitic. Now that said, there’s really no good reason to use blackface in most scenarios-either let the character be the actor’s race or get another actor who is the desired race for the part-but is it inherently racist? I don’t think so.

Thank you for actually bringing up conditions. I was born with trauma to my brain due to complications during delivery. I know that conditions can be extremely unusual and difficult and not obvious. Most people I meet have no idea I had a severe condition as a child and still have permanent effects from it. There are conditions similar to the one we’re all discussing now. And you’re right that one that is very similar is called Body Integrity Identity Disorder. It also begins in early childhood, the patient is not psychiatric-has rational thoughts, and they also feel like their body is foreign to them. And in particular it’s that a limb is foreign to them. They admire amputees-those that have the body they desire. They experience extreme emotional distress. They recognize that their feelings don’t make logical sense. All of this is exactly the same as gender dysphoria. Exact same symptoms.
But those of us with conditions can learn to cope and do. We don’t tell people with body integrity disorder that the body they’re in is really not their body. We tell them the truth and get them the support they need to cope.
We can focus on what we can do and not on what we can’t do. Every person on earth with an incurable condition needs to learn how to cope.
If my parents and everyone around me had lied to me about my condition then I never would have worked so hard and actually gone through the painful but absolutely necessary process of learning how to cope. But my parents always told me the truth about my condition and even forced me to do things that were basically the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest for me. Forcing me to work very hard just to learn how to read and write. There were teachers who told my parents that I would never learn to read or write.
But I was evaluated by the top medical experts in children’s health and basically they found I could learn but had to do so in a different way. For example I couldn’t learn my ABCs by just visually seeing the letters. I had to write them in sand. Etc.
People with conditions need to get actual help and support. I went to special education, went to therapy both speech and regular therapy, etc. And my results are unquestionable. Many people thought I wouldn’t ever do anything. But I literally went from the worst to then eventually joining the regular classes and then graduating top in my class in high school. I still have permanent issues. Hand tremors, I literally have a brain wired differently because my brain formed new neural pathways around the damaged areas-which is what your brain can do at a young age while you’re still developing. And why going through therapy and education like I did at a young age is very important. I therefore do literally think differently than others.
But I did learn and I did cope. And many many other people do too. Everyone has limitations, even those without conditions. All of us have imperfect bodies. But you don’t focus on what you can’t do but on what you can.
I believe in God and someday we all will no longer have these conditions. But in our current life we can cope with them and focus on what we can do instead of only thinking of our condition and what we can’t do.

What I want to ask Ethan and Addison is, what is it about a woman that makes you know that you are NOT a woman? You have to at least know what something is in order to know that you are NOT that thing.

Here is something I am confused about; Why is it that when men transition into women, most of the time they don't want to be known as a woman, they want to be known as 'trans' or a 'trans-woman'? Is that some sort of subconscious admission that they can never actually become a woman? Why go through all these surgeries and hormone therapies in attempt to become something you wont even fully embrace or identify as? I'll admit, some of them do actually like to be called a woman, but we often see them proudly referring to themselves as 'trans' before just 'woman' as if being trans is more virtuous title. Idk man. That's actually a more recent development, it used to be that people referred to cases of "woman trapped in the body of a man" and talked about post op mutilated men as "transexuals", another term that almost disappeared overnight

She was silenced and suspended from work. All she did was quote the book and ask why this was age appropriate for kids who can’t fathom the consequences. The video of the meeting only still exists because the National Post can fight the school board’s bogus “copyright” claims.

This was my take-away, as well, that Matt didn’t seem well-prepared to define _female._ The definition I use is:
FEMALE: any member of a sexually dimorphic species who possesses a reproductive system which when fully mature and functional has the capacity to gestate and bear young.
This avoids all the usual rejoinders: post-menopausal, prepubescence, sterility, hysterectomy, chromosomal and intersex objections and so forth.
This seems quite similar to my "ordered towards gestation" definition. Very nice!

As a person in stem who works in genetics most of the people who have the conditions you mention are the sex of their genitalia (their puberty matches their sex). intersex does not mean ambiguous genitalia, most don’t know they are intersex until they want to have children. Children born with ambiguous genitalia once they hit puberty their actual sex will be known, and they usually go with the sex that matches the hormones. These numbers are very small although there are people who are not in the field try to twist the numbers, because most people have no real understanding of the science. So confusion is easy.
What’s interesting about Walsh’s definition of woman (an adult human female), is that it’s only circular under our worldview because we believe female and woman are essentially the same.
But in transgender ideology, female and woman are not the same (one is a sex term and the other is a gender term). So personally, I think Walsh’s definition works just fine and is not circular according to his interlocutors.

Does are female deer, as the popular song says. Female dogs are labeled with a word that YT might censor. Female bovine are called cows. Female humans are called girls if they are under the age of adulthood, and women if they are over that age. In summary, women are adult human females. Not circular at all, from anyone's perspective -- it's only basic biology.

I appreciate both styles, but am very assertive in my approach and as such identify more with Matt Walsh. I think he gets the point across quickly and accurately, drawing everyone in, instead of prolonging arguments. He cuts straight to the chase. Not everyone is intellectually inclined, so the Trent Horn approach might put people off, that aren't into mental deep dives. I love to listen to your debates and podcast, just as I enjoy listening to Jordan Peterson or Sir Roger Scruton but I know that all of those aren't capable of reaching the mainstream, because they like to intellectualize and most people don't appear to be on that path.

I dont agree that Walsh evaded the question if you mean it as a cowardly move. The person asking that question was evading answering Walsh's question and trying to lead him down yet another what-about this exception to the rule argument that wastes everybody's time and is so disingenuous. My daughter played with both “boy” toys AND “girl “ toys. She’s 17 and has decided to go into a predominantly male profession in college but she still loves to dress up in a dress. I’ve never pushed her one way or the other. But I have had other parents try to tell me she must identify as a boy. I’ve had to tell them that she’s simply a girl who has varied interests..
I also heard him say that he was not going to engage in their art of throwing the conversation back to him.....to deliberately avoid answering the question. He was adamant that he was just going to focus on getting them to answer that question without allowing them to confuse the debate.

My son played with dolls when he was little, I did not tell him he was a girl. He has long hair now, but he likes it long, he doesn't think he's a girl and laughs at people who call him one. He turns around and says, "No, I'm a guy. I just like my hair long right now."
Matt's definition is not circular. Female and woman are not synonymous. There are female animals. We do not classify them as women. "Adult Human Female" means that the only females that we classify as women are both human and adult.

I encourage everyone to boycott Ubisoft (they also shuffled sexual harassers around on the inside instead of firing them -- sad that standing up for women is more likely to get you fired from Ubisoft than hurting them).

I agree with you regarding the definition of female and the fact that Matt could have handled that question better. However, just to quibble, he wasn't being circular in his response. Saying "a woman is an adult human female" is not the same thing as saying "a woman is whoever identifies as a woman". We all use to instinctively know what "female" meant until two minutes ago, so there was no need to go into more detail. The truth is most people haven't thought about what it is exactly and you can't blame them for that. What I find funny about the "femaleness is a construct" argument of these activists is you could say that for literally every word we use. They are all "constructs" in the sense that their meaning is determined by what we agree upon collectively. A minority is trying to tell us that the way we collectively understand femaleness and maleness is wrong, trying to abolish it, and offering nothing in return. If they can't propose a better definition (other than the tautological "whoever identifies as such"), then all they are doing is whining.

The issue with it is that it fails to address the distinction under scrutiny. Everyone involved is obviously human and the classification of age is noncontentious.
So it is valid but adds no relevant content. Genetically speaking, if you have a Y chromosome, you are male, and if you lack one, you are female. Add Mr.Horn`s teleological approach and I think we are approaching a useful form, of a definition though I am sure we can find addition qualities that are part of the forms.

As transgenderism typically manifests at around the same stage in life as anorexia, it’s plain to see that both are expressions of bodily narcissism, and a typical component of narcissism is to popularize lies or half-truths, to draw in others to agree with them. What’s ultimately sad about this population is the consistent tendency towards self harm. You brought up the high rates of suicidal ideation. A big problem is that health professionals tend to separate that from transgenders willingly going under the knife to be mutilated, as though that doesn’t classify as self harm. If we just look at the example of Phil Ochs, we can see that as soon as someone denies their own name, it’s the first step towards self harm, because it’s born out of self loathing.

The objection presupposes that "female" is a definite description, but if you take an essentialist view (either a modal view like Kripke or a classical realist view like Aristotle and Thomists), then the objection goes out the window. On an essentialist view, a term isn't just a collection of properties and so if you lack a property you aren't the thing anymore, a thing is defined with reference to its natural kind, so a cat with a missing eye, ear, and leg is still a cat even though it lacks things generally had by cats (four legs, two eyes, two ears) because it still falls under the natural kind as a _malformed_ or _disabled_ cat. An infertile female doesn't cease to be a female then because it lacks something that women naturally have, she would simply be a physically malformed female. Science presupposes essentialism, because otherwise you couldn't specify phenomena as physical or mental _disorders_ at all.
Brilliant reply. But I think the greater problem is that those who identify as trans, and those who espouse those views do not come to those ideas from logic based arguments. They operate solely from emotion. So my question is this; how do we debate or even have a discussion with a segment of the population that does not even acknowledge or care for logical reasoning?

With the chromosomal abnormalities it is really simple, the presence of a Y chromosome makes you male. It doesn't matter the developmental differences or the extra presence of X chromosomes.
Females with development probles are still FEMALE. Males with androgen receptor issues or glands that don't produce testosterone are still males.
The issue I have with your definition is that 5 year old girl mention. She, by definition is not a woman because she is still a child, just like a boy is not a man, he's a boy. We have different words for developed vs developing humans.
I've watched those clips a few times now and I always focused on Matt and the men/women on stage. Your breakdown made me focus on Dr. Phil. He was silent the entire time. He went through the trouble of over explaining transgender ideology; that always bothered me. Actually here in Australia you’d be amazed at the amount of white Australians who identify as Aboriginies simply because they have one in their ancestry. For example just because my maternal grandmother was 1/8 aboriginal does not make me aboriginal, but it seems a lot of people can’t comprehend simple arithmetic.
40 to 50 years ago it was fashionable in Australia to find a transported convict in one’s ancestry, this Aboriginie in one’s ancestry thing is just a modern update on that. Problem is having a aboriginal in one’s ancestry no more makes one a aboriginal than having a convict in one ancestry makes one a convict. Of course no one claimed they were convicts simply because one had one in one’s ancestry, they just claimed they were descended from a convict. Yet today it’s not uncommon to find Australians claiming they’re aboriginals simply because they have (for example say in my example) 1/32 aboriginal ancestry.
When I was little I used to be confused because I didn’t understand what a boy really was, I thought that my voice sounded deep and since I liked to play in the woods that I was a boy, but it was just a phase and I can’t imagine what would’ve happened if my parents tried to tell me “sure you are a boy”.

Enjoyed this video! Appreciate the minor corrective you provided. I'd just note the possibility that Walsh's response to addison may have been truncated due to editing. It almost seems like there may have been something more he said in response to the question "what about women who are infertile?", but it got cut out. I could almost hear Matt beginning a response, then suddenly it goes to him saying "I've answered your question..." I could be wrong, but I'd suspect some editing there.
I guess the question would be why is the choice to wear a certain color or prefer a type of dress connected to the typical ability to procreate? Why can't we just say sex = male / female and gender = spectrum. The real problem is that our society switched from using sex to gender as the determinate for a multitude of things: birth certificate, sports, bathrooms, any application, etc... I think we should concede the point that some can be more masculine or feminine than others, but that doesn't mean your sex changed. The definition of a woman is irrelevant really because society should care about sex.

Female and woman aren’t synonymous: only adult female humans are women - only a subset of females are women.
Also exceptions prove the rule: xx and xy chromosomes are the norm and they lead to human bodies that are female and male. Just because occasionally there are differences to this doesn’t invalidate male and female sexes.

I like your explanation of what a woman is. I think it skips a few steps in this particular argument however, the counter arguments would still be the same. The reason why I'd go with Matt's definition is because it not only addresses the species of the female but the recognition of age. Woman is a term that is defined as an adult human female, whereas girl is defined as a human female child. Both belong to the human species and naturally ordered to gestate. However, one is not yet mature enough to perform the task of the other. I think that's why it's important to define women as adult human females rather than our innate reproductive functions.
There are anomalies in all things but that doesn't change the standard. The transcommunity likes to use this argument to go down a long, twisted, time-wasting path to distract from the point while failing to prove theirs. I think that's why Matt stopped him and threw the question back at them. I've had many debates with transidentified males and they always bring up this argument which is always time consuming despite my many attempts to demonstrate how anomalies do not change the standard. They will never concede the point even when proven wrong. It eventually becomes a battle of attrition with the dilberate goal of making the sain person irritated by repeating points over and over again until they give up the conversation. It's a trap.
