    Your property is gorgeous. Love seeing people making the most of their off-grid homesteads. After all the natural disasters, WW3 mongers and economic uncertainty, having an off-grid homestead sounds like surest form of security long-term, IMO.

    As am arborist and new homesteader i love the tree diaper. It absorbs rain or irrigation water and slowly releases it back to the plant when the soil dries. It promotes healthy outward root growth that facilitates establishment of newly planted trees and shrubs & enhances the long-term health. Good luck

    When you pointed to where you were planning to planting your cherry trees. You pointed pretty close to each other on the ground from our view thru the camera. Recommendation to plant them far enough apart for them to have room when fully mature. Just a suggestion. I'm sure you already thought of that.

    Citrus generally don’t do well where it freezes. Will the swales alone supply all the needed water to your trees? Such an amazing piece of land with apparently great rainfall, to be surrounded by so much green.

  • @Webangel1111
    @Webangel1111 2 месяца назад +1

    WOW those swalls look fantastic. The stones are gorgeous there. Is there a reason you don't save the water in a tank or a barrel to water your plants or filter to drink???

    Always a pleasant feeling of accomplishment when you see your work, working. When you get to your apple trees, check Skillcult, he is a apple grower and does a lot of crossbreeding in devoloping. He homesteads up in NoCal.

      Good question! There are many varieties of apples and citrus than can tolerate temps down to 10F. I'm in growing zone 7A so a quick google search will reveal both the citrus and apple trees that can thrive in this environment.

    Why don't you dig a well?

    • @OffGridBackcountryAdventures
      @OffGridBackcountryAdventures  2 месяца назад +3

      Good question! The reason is because they are 1200ft deep in my area. I'm lucky to have an awesome community well with incredibly delicious water that's tested out as some of the purest water in the country. I only pay $92 per year for access to the well and road maintenance, can't really justify spending over $60K to hopefully hit an aquifer beneath my land. I'd rather use those funds to build out my place and go on road trips. Enjoy your start to the weekend!
