When we were starting out on our property we did a lot of searching for free or very low cost building materials. I even found free cedar siding that somebody didn’t want any more. It is possible to build cheap. It took us a while to figure out how to do the roof angle but one of the neighbours showed us how to get the angle.
Great information, we did just about like you. While still in the city, we swapped alot of sweat equity for materials. We installed a second hand wood stove just this last weekend and had our first fire. Not to forget, with your BLUETTI dicount and the huge sale they were having we purchased us the AC500/300s setup. I'm down in southern Az and looking for land up north. Who did you go through? How did you find the land, etc? I'm not sure where to start. Any help, if you've got a minute would be greatly appreciated.

Apache County has good cheap land if you want to live in the middle of nowhere.
Zero payments is true freedom. I own mine also. Fix as i go 5 years now.
Whenever I think about monthly payments, I recall the line from Fight Club "The things you own end up owning you..." Such a true statement, there's nothing more freeing than not having debt. You and I think alike.

Hi Dayna, yeah lots of people will buy a shed and then convert it over to a living space. Lots of folks refer to them as a "Barndominium".

In Yavapai can you live on your land in an RV for a year or do you need some kind of septic
Many land ads say you can “camp” on your property for 30 days a year
Seems to all hinge on septic being put in

Yeah, it all depends on septic. They used to allow you to install septic without the need of submitting a floorplan for a new home but changed the requirements this past year. You now have to submit a floorplan to get approved by the county before septic can be installed. Lots of folks are upset by this but those who got their septic installed prior to the changes are grandfathered in.
Wow, didn’t realize our county made that change. Hmm. 🤔

Did you find the Yavapi county website helpful with septic question or just physically going directly to some department at the county governmental building?
