Omg people were seriously trippin about your child saying “yes ma’am?” Girl in my book that’s called home training! Love the finished look of your son’s locs! 💜🙌🏽
Exactly! My jaw dropped lol. I woulda got beat, put in the grave so deep, that Satan be my neighbor if I didn't say ma'am and sir growing up 😂. Kids out here cussing folks out calling their parents bitches and niggas, probably cause their parents don't inforce respect in all aspects of communication. Who the hell get bothered when a child says ma'am?!!? What's next, see a child reading and get mad?! Geez 🤦
HeavenlyFaithful Yes! I'm a parent of 1 and I believe in parenting the old school way. Children will go far with having respect for their elders and a positive attitude.
Your son's hair looks good. People should be thanking god that there are kids that still has respect, especially these days and times. God bless you, and your family.
Musiq Life bc of it's roots. Our slaved ancestors had to call their master "ma'm or sir".... that's why ppl see it as a problem. Living in the south it still carry on as a sign of respect . yet it was a word to make slaves respect the whites. Southern ppl still use it and fail to understand the meaning
Kim Taylor much love. I stay down south n hate to hear grown up say it to white ppl.... like wth. But I know this what they know from the past. There's other respectful ways kids can show respect. Thanks 4 the reply
This gave me a whole different perspective on obedience.. I never say “yes ma’am” to my parents. I’ve always been taught to say “yes” or “yeah”. But then theres some kids who just say “what”. I love that your teaching your kids so well, this should be an example to other kids no one should be questioning manners..
😍😍😍 the hair the fluff the gorgeous the curl the healthiness and though I'm black I've never seen anyone do this before...sadly. and omg your son is stickin cute
Mississippi is the same way. Growing up you better not say huh? Or what? When your mom calls you. First warning she's going to ask what did you say?😂 At 38 I've turned into my mother asking my 15 yr old son, and my 11 and 6 yr old nephews.
Tanisha W I also think it's a matter of what part of the country people grew up too but frankly it's nobody's business. People don't understand that's just a sign of respect? Lol
Honestly, all of their hair is gorgeous!! And, I'm 18, from New York, we don't say "ma'am" often. So, I love when a kid say that, or a person saying that out of respect. Its like southern hospitality😍 All you hear when you get to New York is "YURRR"😂
People are stupid it’s like free form locs people think they’re dirty. When it’s just the opposite. Your boys have beautiful dreads. Have you tried Taliah Wajjid lock it up? You should definitely try it next time!
Hey girl! So you're OK with using the sheers now? And can't believe you had to explain the ma'am thing :/ it's a sign of respect! If we don't teach our children the streets will be more than happy to. Much better it come from us than anywhere else. Thumbs up! HalleluYAH!👍
Its obvious his has not been neglected. Very healthy and beautiful locs. I agree some ppl prefer locd hairstyles which is why they retwist often. I havent had a retwist since July. I wash (essential)oil and separate. I prefer the semi freeform look. Congratulations on your babies calling you ma'am. 👍
That's the best locking product to use in your dreads. Mango and Lime is my brand. And the products smell divine! I use all their products! Repping good ole Ja 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
I have been growing my gorgeous Locs for 16 years and I honestly haven't re-twisted mine in about 1 1/2 years ,I shampoo often with Shea Moisture Strength & Restore or Jamaican Black Castor shampoo & conditioner plus moisturize with Jamaican Black Castor oil with black seed ....My Locs are getting close to my knees - Your raising your children the right way and his Hair came out great 😍
His hair is pretty much identical to my daughter’s!! The silkiness, then a slight bit more kinkiness as it gets further from the scalp. Her hair is just above her butt and she’s 5 1/2. She wanted dreads so she can wear her hair down more (and so there’s no more detangling for almost an hour and THEN styling😫) so glad I can see what it will look like eventually. She’s rocking two strands for the starter😁 great vid, glad I came across it!
I am 45 years old and I always say "Yes ma'am when answering my mother" I have a 7 yr old who copies everything I do so she says it too. Good manners should never be a problem? People are miserable and misery loves company. Keep up the good work you are doing with raising your kids. God bless you and your family.
The only thing that I would recommend is when twisting the two dreads together, twist them in the same direction as you retwisted the dreads. Nevertheless, the hair came out BEAUTIFUL on him! Loved it😍🙌🏾🖤✊🏾
What a beautiful head of hair your son has...and so much love and patience in getting the hair just right. FYI--I think "yes Ma'ma" shows how respectful your son is..Not a thing wrong with that.
Love your work. I wish more people took care of their kids locks like you do. I work with pre-k through 5gr.and some of those heads will make you gag. Don't start something that you refuse to keep up. I live in the south now but was raised in Miami. My parents didn't require us to say ma'am and sir but we had to answer our parents with yes. Not yeah, huh and definitely not what. It's about kids having respect for their parents and elders. My daughter answers me with yes and ma'am. She answers all adults with ma'am and sir.
I freeformed my hair twice and each time it was such an amazing experience!! They were so pretty!!! Only reason I cut them was due to health issues (my hair shedded terribly). Once I get my health in order, it’s back on and popping with the free forms! I washed my hair 2-5 times per week and each loc had its personality! You have a beautiful family! Be blessed!
I’m not sure why ppl are so pressed about the young ones Locs. It’s a style ...free form Locs. Just because your hair is freeform doesn’t mean it’s not washed or treated. For some is a style preference and others it forms part of their spirituality.
Son has beautiful hair, you do an awesome job taking care of his hair. Your son was raised right to answer you with respect,a lot of people just do not understand😏. We were raised to be respectable to our parents, and Elders at all times. That meant choose your words carefully.!!👍😊 Thank you for sharing🤗👍
I never even knew there was a problem with saying ma'am until I left the South. Especially to elders. I had people and some elders actually scold me about saying ma'am to them. It was shocked and actually hurt because I was being respectful. Now I really, don't say it much. Every now and again but I see nothing wrong with it. Especially with children. I hate the hear children calling adults by their first name without at least putting Miss or Mr. on the front. Shoot me its a Southern thing...By the way your children are gorgeous.
Absolutely, I said yes ma'am and no ma'am , yes sir and no sir to my parents and my elders, and I raises my children the same, but they all call me Mommy. Nothing wrong with it at all, it shows respect. You did an absolutely beautiful job on his hair. I'm learning how to do my youngest son's hair, I can do the fade on the sides, but not to good on the locks. Enjoyed your video, God bless.
Have you had any issues with their school trying to prevent them from wearing their dreads? Just curious because schools often include hair in the dress code and target students by gender to try to uphold a certain image and will act coercively to do so. By the way your kids have very lovely hair!
I love how you don't over twist your child's hair because your allowing his hair to relax and grow without extra stress being put on it. Bless an Love.
THANK YOU!!My husband and I are both veterans and were raised to be RESPECTFUL which means addressing your elders and people you do not know as Ma'am and or Sir....I thought that was common sense! LOL And we're both from the city.
That’s how I was raised as well too! It’s a sign of respect. And my mother also taught me to respond to others with Ma’am or sir as well. Some ppl just want to hear themselves complain.
Thank you Ms. Crystyle. You and your beautiful children just saved my locs. I'd been sick and haven't had a re-twist in about 8 months. Though I could wash and condition when I take my showers, I couldn't do much beyond that, so they are looking a bit frightful to me with all the matting and I was ready to cut them off until this video popped up.
OMG loved your video, my little fatties hair is hella thick and this is exactly what I needed to see .. You have a beautiful family and never ever defend the fact that your children are being raised to be respectful and have manners.. MAY GOD keep a watchful eye all over your and yours..
His hair is smazing!! My father..God rest his soul..instilled being repestful..to adults..my son 22 years old always..says Yes Ma'am and sir even to folks he dont know..that's Respect..most kids dont have that..SMH..
This makes me want to loc my hair now. I've been doing braids as protective style but I think I want locks. And that Jamaican mango loc gel is EVERYTHING!
I'm so happy I found your video I took my son to get his hair dreaded and she did it nice but it didnt last long so I retwisted it myself and I brought the mango and lime locking creme. watching your video I'm going to get the gel and hopefully his hair will stay neater longer.
WOW!! He is handsome and MOM....you rock!!! Great job with the hair. I love loc and I'm natural but haven't gone there. Where I live stylists don't have the time.

Nice job Mama!👍🏾 (Wit’s the #dreads, but MORE importantly, KUDOS on how you’re raising your youngKings!💪🏾💪🏾)🖤🖤🖤
You nice with the hands!!! It’s true I’m learning you don’t have to re twist every time you wash nor do you have to go to the salon every month like how I was told when I first started, I like to style so I might re twist the front to keep it up. His hair looks beautiful! And people should raise their children with the same level of respect as you have. Maybe then when parents hear him say yes ma’am it won’t be so shocking.
Omg people were seriously trippin about your child saying “yes ma’am?” Girl in my book that’s called home training!

And parents wonder why their kids are running around crazy and disrespecting them. Your teaching your kids right! His hair came out very nice btw!

What? I never have addressed my mom or dad with yes sir or ma’am, are you calling me disrespectful for that
Also, if elders are disrespectful, we shouldn’t owe them back respect just because they are older.
Your son's hair looks good.

Too much retwisting causes hairloss. You are doing good by not retwisting so often. I love his dreads and love how respectful he is.
Me that's what I thought as well ..when I lock my son's hair I won't be retwisting that often either
Me i retwist every 3 week. The key is to avoid tightness.
It also depends on ur genetics, i kno a guy who retwist once every week-2 weeks his locs r 9yrs old their long thick also hairline thic
I think we can all agree that retwisting too often can be a detriment. But 2 years? That just seems a bit excessive.
U know nothing about our culture
What's wrong with yes ma'am? Ppl are too much. I think it's very respectful

Your children are beautiful & respectful!
Beautiful family all round! Such thick healthy hair! I really hope I can have children of my own one day! 😌
I can’t believe you ACTUALLY had to explain why your Son would answer you “Ma’m?”
God forbid; your son is being taught to RESPECT you, his Mother, the way he absolutely should?!🤷🏾♀️ Sum Folk; I swear!🙄
What a handsome lilMan! Nice job Mama!👍🏾 (Wit’s the #dreads, but MORE importantly, KUDOS on how you’re raising your youngKings!💪🏾💪🏾)🖤🖤🖤
He is so handsome! His hair looks great!
Love your videos I like seeing parents managing their children and spouse hair
Ma’am is a sign of respect
