You will need to listen to the full commentary. They do a full history lesson of when they changed from the leg drums to the bass drums. They did a wonderful job going through the decades, hence why the drum changes (so you can hear the difference).
Alabama State leg tenors would still give them business. Thats a fact. 😭😭

@KBThaBandhead those kids weren't even BORN when The Legion matched with leg tenors. So you would see no visuals or sticking. Those two leg tenors went right back into storage or the alumni band after this performance. Great review. On the one where you said "needed work", listen to the tonals in contrast to the snare. It was made to sound off but they were right in the groove. #Behold

There is no other hbcu drumline on mdfs level period..... it really ain't even close.

"Pinky" is what MDF$ plays for the Tunnel. Each section marches to its own beat so to speak. MDF$ is not to be messed with!!! BEEEHHHHOOOLLDDDD!!!

The band plays PINKY when they are doing their tunnel. If you haven't seen the NSU tunnel, you need to go watch. My favorite is the Homecoming tunnel of 2022 and 2023. It's nothing like it. NO OTHER SCHOOL CAN TOUCH NSU MDFS!! #BEHOLD 💚💛 1995 GRADUATE
Nobody stands up to MD and thats a fact. 30+ years of consistency will do that.
Im not a percussionist, so in general i skip these kinds of features, but MD always catches my attention.
The tenors were only in the program before the early 90s . The overall performance was a history of evolution of MD from the days of Tenors to today with tonals.
Actually, the tenors left in the late 80's. I believe it was around 88 or 89. I remember they were marching with the mirror heads on the tonals then.
What you said about the the tonal drums being connected is really deep. It's blowing my mind how they are able to be one, timed in and out of time.

Kb it's only difficult because most southern bands don't March tonel in Virginia we marched them in high school before going to NSU so you're right we are in unison with one another

Worst part about this video is, its NOT doing Billion Dollar justice.. The acoustics not coming through for basses cuz they back there carrying!
FACTS!! The basses in the first warmup went OFF and you can’t really hear it.
