As someone who doesn't play Smash can anyone explain how to lose to me is it %? I don't quite get why pekora lost a second life so fast

(As someone who only casually play the game) You die when you get knocked outside of the playable area. The playable area is a rectangle, which means you can die from falling downwards, getting knocked to the side, or getting knocked upwards.
The % is like a multiplier to how much knock back you take. Even if you get to 200% or even 300%, you don't die if you don't get knocked far. Different attacks also deal different knock backs.
What probably happened was Pekora got hit by a strong attack (usually powerful attacks are harder to hit the opponent), sending her flying out of the area, dying.

What Holo said is about right. You use normal and special attacks to build up your opponent’s damage meter. The higher it goes, the easier it is to get knocked out. Usually, you would raise it as high as possible and then use what’s known as a Smash Attack to knock your opponent out of the arena area (basically the sides of your TV screen). You don’t always need to use a Smash Attack though. In the right circumstances a more normal move might work.
