I picked up the Darkglass last year and like it OK. Your vid has definitely sold me on the versatility of the Parallax. Will definitely pick that up during the next NerualDSP sale. Thanks!
Maybe a weird question for a bass plugin demo video, but were you using amp modelling/plugins for the electric guitar tone at 2:04 ? If so, what are you using? Love the tone
This was a really good review of these two beasts! I say the *Parallax* because it just seems like it has more to offer, So I bought it. Although the Darkglass is on sale right now, Hmmm...…..
Got parallax, but wish I got the dark glass. I don't go for the modern metal type of tone typically, and like just a great clean tone at times, but also like a gnarly dirt that has it's own space. Parallax is a bit harsh for the kind of mixes I tend to make, but when it works it works great! Just not as versatile as I would like.
I’m on the fence here. DG also has the amp sim options too, yeah? They both look versatile, but I’m also not a metal player (more like alt rock, QOTSA band style. My influences are more along the lines of Squire, Geddy Lee and others. Gotta have that punch and grit)
At the moment I am using the Darkglass in front of the Parallax, so I'm using them both and really dig the sound to be honest, do you think that could be too much in the mixing-context? Pretty new to all that recording stuff^^ Thanks alot mate
No, as long as you don't drive Darkglass too much and end up with a messy tone. If it sounds good, it's ok! You can use Darkglass as a tone shaper, as a preamp (like the Darkglass tone capsule included in Dingwall bases) and then distort it with Parallax.
2.5 minutes on the darkglass ultra and 7 on the parallax......................not much of a comparison. Wish there was more done on the darkglass ultra
I made a grave error. I bought Parrallax cos it was newer. The sound is not pleasing to my ears at all Got the Dark Glass trial and now I want to cry cos they don't do refunds or exchanges
I know that feeling bro. I would suggest you go to facebook group called "audio plug-in buy/sell market place" or "neural dsp plugins marketplace" and try to sell it there. You may also find darkglass for a good price there.
A well done comparison. As a beginner bass player I went with Parallax and I'm pretty happy with it.
Thanks for the help:)

Happy to help! They are both so good.
This dude is on fire!
I own the Darkglass X Ultra pedal, love it but Its too harsh most of the time, I think I will go for the Darkglass Ultra plug in
Is that a cover of Thrice's cover of Look At All The Lonely People? Absolutely fantastic mate!!
Both great amp sims, I have to go with the
Parallax..

No prob! I'm pretty sure it was Archetype Nolly 2nd amp + Zilla Cabs ;)

Does parallax work at all for styles other than metal? Like could you throw it in an indie/pop song?
@@camdenwyeth316 Yes, I believe you can make it work. It's very adjustable to fit your needs. You can start a 14 day trial from neural to test it out.
@@camdenwyeth316 not really. It still has this harsh character. I prefer darkglass for non-metal tones
@@camdenwyeth316 its physically Impossible to make it Clean. Even on the lowest Setting it has a little Crunch
I have the parallax I love the tones. But I’m just learning how to properly apply it to my bass.

Grayson Wilson Yeah, I understand. Man I currently love Darkglass more than Parallax 🙈

Would you suggest darkglass instead of Parallax for someone who does both metal and indie/pop?
probably a stupid question but do you hav the option of not using distortion ?
Yes in darkglass. No in Parallax (unless you disable mid and high bands and expand the lower one, but it's not a desirable sound at all)
Genial el vídeo!! ¿Podrías decirme que IRs has utilizado? Suena muy, muy bien. Gracias!!
Gracias! Los propios IRs en el Parallax y lo siento pero no me acuerdo cuales en el Darkglass... no lo menciono en el vídeo?

What IR did you use for this video. I can tell the difference in my head phones
Stock ones for parallax and can't remember for Darkglass, it was a long time ago 😂

@@marcpeiron_studio Thanks man. Checking it out.
It might actually be possible to tune Parralax to sound like dark glass
Finally some cool studio one guy! Great work! What do you prefer? Darkglass or Parallax? I am considering purchasing Parallax
I prefer Parallax for its versatility. But Darkglass is also really cool thanks to its unique character. Hard decision!
@@marcpeiron_studio I bought Parallax. Really cool thing.
What vst you use on the drums?
Getgood Drums, Modern&Massive pack. In love with it :)
Wow Beatles metal cover!
