Mary's voice is absolutely gorgeous, so powerful and smooth like silk; a great range, and such control and passion! It's like it's effortless for her. What a talent. Love U2 too.
The original of course has that emotional level to it, covering the subject of relationships, and how they can go bad between two people. And I feel like Mary came in and just put so much soul and feeling with her added guest vocals, that she sang it so very well.
Never heard this version of this song... I really like the added soul flavor Mary K added to this.. and I'm a rock/metal head.. but hey.. this had so much Zen value to it🔥🔥🔥
I love watching your face on this video because it’s the SAME FACE I HAD listening to it. Her voice is sooooo powerful…combine that with some of the best lyrics EVER and it evokes next-level emotion.
Love how you pointed out that when Bono and Mary sing towards the end it sort of gives a uplifting feeling of something good and hope. It’s the main reason why I prefer the original u2 version in 91. I find that version a lot darker and haunting . It’s a song that always hits hard and goes deep. Lyrically a masterpiece I don’t get the same feeling from this version but it’s still a brilliant version of the song . Mary nails it and gives the song a different edge and meaning.
you always find the best music to listen to for us I really like this song to begin with but the mix of these 2 is awesome I am glad you did this thanks for the ride as always your ride or die forever EyyyyOooo P.S. I have a new suggestion for you I dont know if you have already had it from someone or not Yebba the song is "my mind" I think you will really like it and I would love your break down on it
Great choice Rosalie do you want to see the live version they did from Slane Castle in Ireland from 2001 88'000 fans were just captured in they're music that night
5:08 Hadn’t heard either of these for a long while and definitely not the colab; I had heard the original but this added a different dimension to it! Not the sort of thing I listen to anymore but that doesn’t stop me appreciating the musicianship of it. Liked your explanation and elaborations, it’s really interesting!
You should check out the documentary From the sky down. It tells the story how this song saved U2 from breaking up and creating the album Achtung baby.
Art for art's sake, sometimes I like to hear this, but for me not epic. However, the earthy original version is much better for everyday use, because the text is so true to life and helps in living together. Johnny Cash also sang a fantastic version. U2 and Johnny have recorded a song together, which is unfortunately somewhat forgotten, The Wander. All the best for YOU and have fun with all kind of good music!!!
Rosalie you need to play zombie from the cranberrys it's amazing and ad some old irish techniques of singing in it called waleing. It's a way of singing to the dead take note to the gold child angels in the video
Achtung Baby was recorded in Berlin. The story is about a real story: Father who can’t accept homosexual orientation of his son. In the original video shot by Anton Corbijn in Berlin you can see this man. Btw.: must see piece of art.
I know you have to be aware of Linkin Park, but I would love to watch you cover anything by them. The video for “Numb” has 1.9 BILLION views on RUclips.
Though I have heard and do like this song. I am more familiar with the Metallica song "One". Now Metallica's "One" is a very heavy and emotional song lyrically, especially with the visuals of the official music video.
Legend has it that the original song was about a young man confessing to his father that he's gay, and all the conflict and questions that followed. But sure, it can be interpreted many ways.
One of the greatest songs ever written. Unfortunately, although I like Mary J. And she has a great voice, but it just doesn’t fit this song. It sucks all the raw emotion out of the original version.
Mary’s vocals bring a tear to my eye. So emotional
Mary's voice is absolutely gorgeous, so powerful and smooth like silk; a great range, and such control and passion! It's like it's effortless for her. What a talent. Love U2 too.
What an amazing and powerful song 💯
.❤❤❤❤❤❤...FAM..BRASILEIRO
I heard this for the first time a few days ago was blown away!
‘We’re one but not the same…’ That line saved the song for me.

Sis Mary owns the song and turned it into a glorious gospel like masterpiece
She barely even mentioned Mary and Mary killed this.
Mary blows this into the stratosphere
U 2 are my housegods and Marys voice is epic . So good. Love your reactions.
👍👍👍🇸🇪😎💕
Love this version so much! They sound great together!
Mary J is a great soul singer which is a great mix with U2 .enjoyed you reaction

A classic.
From what I understood, Bono wrote it about his relationship with his Father but it is of course open to multiple interpretations.
❤ hermosa versión es difícil superar la original pero creo la superó , saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷

Personally, I love the version Johnny Cash did of this song. It has a totally different vibe, but it's great. If you can, give it a listen!

I don't know what you're hearing but Mary J is not raspy at all, Mary Js vocals are clean
Hi, Please reaction to: Angelina Jordan - Amor mio (no volvere) ;) Greetings from Spain
Realy like it,but if you need some good rock ,listen too halestorm
Legend has it that the original song was about a young man confessing to his father that he's gay, and all the conflict and questions that followed. But sure, it can be interpreted many ways.
This song is a cover of Johnny Cash.
Edit oh I just looked it up and saw that Johnny covered them not them covering him.
sorry nothing can beat the original mary j blidge makes it a cheap the version with REM is much better
Both are great plus this has better quality and more gritty riff and soul to it
I'm crying. She demolished that shit effortlessly. And I love U2 to pieces. I grew up on U2. I was blown away.

Lies!
Please Led Zep dazed and confused...
