I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (December 27, Christmas 1), this was our New Testament Lesson (or Epistle) of the Day. December 27 is also The Festival of St. John, Apostle and Evangelist. 1 John 1:1-2:2 is usually read as a New Testament Lesson (or Epistle) for that Day. Maybe you can do a talk on this passage in the future. And here is hoping that everyone reading this has a Happy New Year.
