Update: After our story aired a tip was recieved that led the sheriffs department to the Mothman in Mason West Virginia. He has served his time and has since been released.
The fact that they couldn't find any footprints of an attacker in all of that blood, pretty much, seals it for me. That's impossible! Darlie is the only plausible suspect.
How do you explain the heavy bruising on her arm? Or the unidentified finger prints? In Texas, if they think you're guilty, you're guilty whether you are or not. Check out the documentary called The Thin Blue Line.
Darkkiss, you're right. There's definitely other weird shit going on. But I just can't get over all of that blood on the floor not having any footprints. She was in a struggle with a killer and there was blood everywhere and no footprints. It's, basically, a physical impossibility.
I can't get past the cavalier and dismissive attitude of the family whose kids died. If those were my kids, I wouldn't even be able to be interviewed on national TV. I would still be seeking psychiatric help for severe PTSD.
That First Story with the Blonde Lady Killing Her 2 Kids, That story always had me confused on who really killed them kids’ The mom story really don’t make sense tho’ why would a burglar just break in her house and kill them kids without Stealing or taking anything from the house’ But How did that blood Sock get in that Alley?? Strange’ and I wonder why wasn’t the Dad that was Sleep up Stairs considered a suspect? Still a Crazy case after all these years
Peyton Bell the bruises on her arm and how the the knife went so deep in her throat and i think they should look more into the tube sock they found and test the dna on there now that technology is more advanced
Mom is chilling TOO HARD to have had her two babies murdered in front of her. Anybody would be fucked up about that. I think she did it or hired someone to do it.
@@1987missbailey yes it’s definitely something suspicious going on and she shouldn’t be in prison unless theres 100% solid evidence she did it. there are way to many wrongfully convicted people in prison
What you don't understand is the number of interviews the family has done, and the amount of editing involved. You have just done dozen of interviews at their death, through the year long investigation and trial and now unsolved mysteries call you. They bring you in, a nice person offers you coffee. You sit and talk for an hour, various questions, various rephrased questions, and editing out those times you burst into tears and only showing when you reanswer the question with more control.
As a native West Virginian, I’m a little disappointed that he kept saying Point Pleasant, Virginia. It reminds me of when I lived in Texas and about 70% of the people I told that I was from West Virginia thought I meant western Virginia. West Virginia is its on state you guys. Just a little pet peeve of mine lol
@@AshleySmith-zv2kd But no DNA test results have linked her to the crime. I'm not saying she's innocent I just find it strange that they performed DNA tests 3 different time already.
Mothman! One of the scariest segment they did, such a classic. The part at 29:33 is particularly chilling, with the big creature coming and going in the window. Gotta love it! 😊
I hate to tell I have seen one in the swamps of South Carolina in the late 80's. I was riding in the back of my father's truck after a night of coon hunting. I looked up and it was flying above the treetops glowing eyes and all!

@@johnsavedbygrace3998 I’ve always thought she was innocent. I’ve seen this, a forensic files episode on her, and a 5 part documentary about the case. She could have woken up, fainted/went unconscious, and the traumatizing memory got buried so when she regained consciousness she thought she had just woken up. Also if that’s not the way it happened why would anyone say that? She had to know it would be hard to believe she didn’t wake up from that but I think she’s telling the truth. What about the sock? And part of the evidence that convicted her was a hair that wasn’t even hers. I think the entire investigation was rushed and they focused on her from the beginning. Also as a recovering drug addict, the cemetery party makes sense if she was on pain killers and anti depressants. There’s still no execution date and they’re still doing more tests as DNA testing improves. Her and her husband didn’t divorce until 15 years after her arrest and it was mutual just to end the limbo they were in. He still believes there is no possibility that she did it.
The thing that gets me the most about the Routier case is that - if an intruder did come in and attempt to kill people they would definitely, definitely make sure that the adults in the house were dead before going after their children, nevertheless killing the father first (and here there was not a scratch on the father). There's no chance on Earth that an intruder would stab small children to death (wasting time) before trying to subdue the actual adults that live there. Darlie killed her children and her husband was probably involved to some extent.
@@Kate21561 Hello Kate, To me, it is possible that the intruder did not know anyone else was in the house. If she did do that horrific act to her those boys, then may the Good Lord have mercy on her soul...
The cop who said that it's suspect that she couldn't describe the person who attacked her - has obviously never been attacked. I was attacked when I was a teenager (nearly 40 years ago now) and here's what I can tell you: - exactly where it happened, where he first made a comment to me while riding past me on his BMX bike. I can tell you that he had straight blonde hair, blunt cut so it just brushed his jacket collar, he wore a brown, puffy, bomber style jacket, with light beige rugby pants with a double line down the leg in dark brown, he wore white Nike runners... and I have no fkng clue what his face looked like. I can see all the rest as clear as if it happened a second ago...and nothing where his face should have been. This cop is dead wrong about what happens to someone in an attack and he should be ashamed for being so biased.
@@markmiller489, you can't tell how that kind of event will affect someone. In my case, I usually have amazing recall (not a photographic memory but pretty wow), I wasn't scared so much as I was furious at that moment, I was a bit of a scrapper, and lived in a fairly violent home...and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't picture his face. Now, put someone without that kind of background into a traumatic experience like that...who knows how badly it will affect them. I've read some cases where their brains will literally block their memory - 5 mins before, no problem - 5 mins after, good to go - during the trauma...nothing. Either way, people who investigate these things should be aware of the range of impact on the victims, all I'm saying.
Okay, let's get this straight. Let's say an intruder was paid to kill the wife and the kids so that Darin (her husband) can benefit from the insurance money. The murder weapon was the kitchen knife at the house. Did he forget to bring a knife for the murder? What kind of a killer shows up with no weapon to kill. Alright, let's assume he showed up without a murder weapon, why kill the kids first? Darlie is insured for more money than the kids so wouldn't she be the prime target? Let's entertain the idea that the intruder came in to steal. Why didn't he just take the jewelry on the table top? Could have been a lot easier and less risky. Given the evidence of blood stains on her shirt, the fiber on the second kitchen knife, no footprints on the floor of the killer but only of Darlie, no sign of intruder, and no evidence of slit neck as far as the spilling of her blood on the couch heavily lead in only one direction. To me, the dead giveaway and the nail in the coffin is her mention of prints in the 911 call. Who cares about your print on the knife when your kids are dying if you are innocent? Darin is heavily cooperating with Darlie on the murder. He definitely knows more than what he's letting out.
The blood evidence is so strong against Darlie, along with the fact that the window screen was proven to have been cut from someone inside the house, yet that is how the supposed killer gained entry to the house. Such bullshit. Darlie is guilty. 3 kids were starting to cramp her lifestyle and the fact the her own husband was too concerned with mentioning the size of her DD bra cup size to cops and investigators instead of the murder of his own children is disturbing. Even modern forensics still proves Darlie is guilty.
I lean towards innocence because of motive. If the kids were cramping her style why not kill the baby? If it was for money why not kill the husband who had way more life insurance than the kids measly ten thousand? There’s just no reason. The kids dad standing beside her after she killed his boys kinda helps her imo too. I would love to one day know the truth. I’m a big true crime fan and out of all the cases out there this is one I’d really like to know what happened.
@@fullmetaljackalope8408 I don't think it was something she planned. I think she happened to lose it that night and the boys just happened to be downstairs with her.
Don't you hate it when you sleep thru a physical attack? I woke up last night on the couch after falling asleep watching TV. That's when I realized my throat had been cut amongst other wounds. My two child nearby were also dead with much more brutal wounds which I slept thru too. Thankfully my unbalanced mom is in denial and has my back. Neither myself, my partner or my parents thought having a public display for my slained children's birthdays was a bad idea.
They did an in depth episode of Forensic Files on Darlie’s case. She cut herself, cut the screen, and killed her children. In the 911 call you can hear her moving room to room staging the scene.
And luminol being sprayed on the sink area showed multiple footprints of Darlie's in blood that was cleaned up. How can her supporters explain that?! An intruder would never have done that.
If (heaven forbid) I had two children who were brutally murdered, I imagine 8 days later, I'd be too despondent to get out of bed to bathe or eat, let alone go to their graves and spray Silly String.
I've seen parents who have lost children.. and they try very hard to smile. Denial hits Disbelief. And even yes, craziness It's not just sadness a parent feels, but multitudes of crazy intense feelings.
@@theapterousbird She killed them but she did it not for money. Her plan was suicide and homicide. She wrote in her diary right before this happened she wanted to kill herself, she was miserable & had been for a long time. It's fairly common for suicidal parents to take their kids with them to spare them from living in the world unprotected by them. She started butchering herself by the desire to live is very hard to overcome. When the operator asked who else was in her house, she didn't even mention Drake! Only her husband. The night this happened her & Darrin got in a fight. They had only 1 car & she felt depressed & trapped at home. Why would someone break in and kill the children first & leave the strongest person in the room untouched? Why would someone break in at night without a weapon? Why would someone kill random children inside their house & leave them there for dead but prick the mom? How did Darlie know that by touching the knife there would be NO other prints on it? Why were absolutely NO prints found on the knife? Why was the screen door cut with a bread knife from inside her kitchen? What motive would someone have to break into a house & murder two boys feet from the mother? Only to leave? How could a mother sleep through her children being butchered feet from her? She also claims there is no way she could have slept through it. Why was she suuuuuuper excited they were dead at the graveside birthday party? Why did neighborhood children & everyone look significantly sad & she looked like she was at Disneyland? Why does she refer to the murder of her children as "the man" and her babies as "those boys?" I know a lot of people that would celebrate a dead child's birthday like she did. I actually think it shows a lot of love. I've seen it both ways, grieving to death, or celebrate their life.
This is one of the most loopy comments I've read on an episode of UM. Maybe as part of a healing process and to remember your child - you celebrate their birthday down the road. Not days later while the alleged murderer is on the loose just as another commenter said.
Update: The investigators all came to the conclusion that she was guilty, and presented their findings to Charles Samford, the juror who had felt she was innocent. He now believes that she is guilty.
do you have any of that evidence because they failed miserably here. And is this the same typical 85% of the investigators that fail miserably on UM week in and week out? Like the ones that didn't have enough evidence to convict a guy of murdering his wife despite her bones all over his back yard and a blood splattered wall inside?
It's so horrible that she did that to those children. There are so many people who can't have children that would have been glad to give her sons a happy home.

As a former supporter of Darlie’s innocence, the turning point for me was when I looked real hard at the boys crime scene and autopsy photos. Not only does all evidence point to her but no intruder is going to kill 2 little boys that viciously and at that kill them first, leaving mom alive and asleep less than a foot away. The killer would’ve murdered her first then the boys. Really it doesn’t take long to stab someone if you have intent, if an intruder came in they could’ve had all 3 stabbed and gotten back outside and took off within minutes. There was no foreign dna found and that fingerprint was proven to not have any male dna on it, her defense has sealed every file that shows she’s guilty. If she was innocent they’d have no reason to seal all of this.
Also I would like to add that the boys wounds were deep and vicious, hers were not anywhere close to being as deep or vicious as the boys. The castoff of the boys blood on her nightgown could’ve only came from stabbing the boys. The wine glass that was broken could’ve only been broken if you pulled it up and out, the only way you could knock it out passing by would’ve been if you tipped the entire rack over. Not to mention her bloody footprints were under the glass not over like they would be if she ran through after the glass was dropped like she claimed. They also found the bloody imprint of the knife on the back of her nightgown as if she was hiding the knife behind her back going to the next boy. She’s guilty 1000%

You know, you stated, and I 9 wrote it down, that the focus of the assailant was on the 10 children; is that right? 11 A. That's correct. 12 Q. I wrote that down right? 13 A. I'm not sure what you wrote down, but 14 that is what I testified to. 15 Q. Okay. And, how do you know that? 16 A. No, they weren't. This was raised on appeal: 654. The Court finds that the Dallas sexual assaults as set out in the tendered police reports are significantly dissimilar to the instant offense for the following reasons: a. Unlike the victims detailed in the Dallas Police Department’s reports, Applicant, her husband, and her children lived in a two-story, colonial-style house in an upscale, suburban neighborhood in the city of Rowlett, twelve miles from the closest sexual assault; two of the three children in the house were stabbed to death; none of the victims were sexually assaulted; the intruder did not speak to or threaten Applicant; and he never demanded or took any money or property. b. Furthermore, although a bloodstained sock was found in the alley three houses down from the Routier crime scene (RR32:1260, 1265, 1271, 1387), Applicant never reported that the intruder gagged any of the victims with a sock (as did the intruder in two of the Dallas sexual assaults). In fact, Applicant specifically testified that she did not find “any tape, or any gauze or anything stuffed in [her] mouth.” (RR44:4934). Applicant also did not ever report that the intruder wore socks on his hands (as did the intruder in one of the Dallas sexual assaults). (RR44:4789-5031; State’s Trial Exhibit 76A). c. The intruder in the Dallas sexual assaults was African American, and, although Applicant told Officer David Waddell at one point that she did not know if her assailant was black or white (RR29:319), she repeatedly told Lieutenant Matt Walling her assailant was white. (RR29:514-15, 522, 530). Similarly, Applicant told her friend, Barbara Jovell, that the assailant was white. (RR36:2569). Applicant testified at trial that she “wasn’t sure if [the intruder] was white or black because it was dark, but that I assumed that he was white because of his hair.” (RR44:4883). d. The Dallas sexual assaults occurred at apartment complexes in an urban area along a narrow corridor on the east side of a major highway, Highway 75 - Central Expressway, in an area approximately one mile wide and five miles long. Two of the sexual assaults occurred at the same complex. (State’s Writ Exhibit 10). The proximity of Central Expressway (and Highway 635 in two cases) would have provided easy access to a major highway to lessen the chances of detection. The Rowlett murders occurred approximately fifteen miles from Central Expressway, in a suburban neighborhood cul-de-sac. (RR40:3666, 3705; State’s Writ Exhibit 10). As one of Applicant’s neighbors described Rowlett in relation to Dallas: Rowlett, Texas, is located to the [north]east of Dallas, on Lake Ray Hubbard, the city reservoir. It’s about approximately 35 miles from downtown Dallas. It’s a suburb of Dallas, just east of Garland. (RR28:179, 184). Regarding their particular neighborhood, the neighbor explained: “It’s a fairly upscale neighborhood, as it’s been described before. The neighborhood is mostly family oriented, lots of small children, and kind of a bedroom community.” (RR28:186). e. Furthermore, in each of the Dallas sexual assaults, the assailant demanded and/or took cash, credit cards, or property from his victims. In contrast, Brantley testified regarding the Routier case: Q. [Prosecutor]: [R]obbery, in this case, were you aware of, well, I guess, it was various items left around in the residence; is that right? A. [Brantley]: That’s correct. Q. Okay. Do you remember what types of items we’re talking about? A. Well, primarily, the jewelry, the large amount of jewelry that was left there in plain view, and certainly, this also seemed to be in this path of entry and escape, and so, I mean, it was right there for the taking, and all someone had to do was just reach over and grab it. Also, you looked at the purses that were in the area, and whether they were disturbed, or whether anyone was attempting to steal money, cash or credit cards. And there is no indication that anything like that has occurred. As a matter of fact, nothing was disturbed. Nothing of value in that home seemed to be of interest whatsoever to the offender in this case. (RR40:3694-95). 655. The Court finds that Applicant fails to prove that the Dallas sexual assaults “resemble” or occurred “in the area” of the instant offense. 656. The Court finds that the Dallas sexual assaults in the police reports are not sufficiently similar to the instant offense to be relevant or material. See Willingham v. State, 897 S.W.2d 351, 358 (Tex. Crim. App. 1995) (to impeach a witness, it must be established that the evidence is relevant and material to the case). 657. Thus, the Court finds and concludes that Applicant has failed to prove that the facts she alleges are true, and therefore, the Court finds and concludes that Applicant has failed to produce evidence that entitles her to relief. See Ex parte Chappell, 959 S.W.2d at 628. docs.google.com/document/d/1LRTbPKugz-1w04GXbR-47lSqGqPVxgsokwnSihzBTEI/edit?fbclid=IwAR1jgo4xcfK_0Uxr0xBHJKk2XqHSeYJNzmkQsYaIiSBLypi8ZDf7kBbQ-jg "There is NOTHING here that shows her guilt." You should look into the facts of the case within the Court records instead of a television program. "Plus, the intruder likely wasn't planning to kill anyone." Then why did he murder two little boys? "He snuck in from the basement unaware that 3 people were asleep down there," There was no basement. "and when the one boy awoke and confronted him, he quickly killed him so he couldn't be a witness and escalated into the other boy and mom awakening and the guy stabbing the other boy" Darlie slept through all of that commotion? "but the mother, being an adult and a mother defending her babies is not going to be such easy prey..." She would've been very easy prey and every bit as vulnerable as the children were when she was asleep, which she claimed to be when this alleged intruder came in. She was also the biggest threat in the room so why wouldn't the intruder put the knife right through her like was done to those little children? "the knife print theory as she claimed that she picked up the knife fearing he might come back." Then she promptly laid it on the counter, turned her back on it, and walked away.
@@2hereagain so in other words you've got a great big pile of absolute nothing here. There was never any dispute that the children weren't executed first, in fact the fact that they were stabbed first fits the intruder theory perfect. He was a rapist determined to rape Darcie. (her panties had been removed) after he had subdued her temporarily at that point one of the children awoke and caught him in the act and he stabbed him to death and his scream woke the other boy and the mother, so he quickly stabbed the other boy at which point the mother lunged upon him fighting with everything she has and all he has time to do was slash her a couple of times and take off as she's likely screaming at this time for her husband upstairs. Obviously he's not going to stop and grab jewels at this time, he just wants to get the heck out of there. Also where's the rule book that says serial rapists, murderers or burglars must use the same methods and strike in the exact same style of neighborhoods every time? I imagine the applicant you refer to is Darcie as to not being able to remember if the intruder wore socks or not, it was dark and she was a little busy like fighting for her life, I'm sure she didn't have time to video tape it. Same goes for her other accounts of the event.
Darlie's mother asked "why kill the older boys and not the new baby while post partum is taking place?" My guess is she didn't like them. At the ages the boys were at, they were not fascinated with mommy anymore like most kids when they get older. I really do not think it was financial, I think it was extreme narcissism and the needs of 3 boys wasn't telling with Darlie anymore
She didn't kill the baby bc he was asleep in the room with Darin. If he had been downstairs I believe she would have killed him too. Heartbreaking. She is sick. She deserves to rot.
I cannot believe someone broke in and slit 3 throats, 2 of which are small harmless boys. Also, on the night they slept downstairs?? So she sees an intruder but doesn't scream for her delusional husband, instead she looks for the killer?? Very fishy Darlie
This is possible if the mother had actually got attacked before her children were. And head trauma could make you delusional for some time and not able to comprehend things normally. The biggest discrepancy- how come her undergarment was found so far away from her house in such less time?? This is indeed an unsolved mystery!

The only statement of that nature she ever made about the supposed "intruder," was at the Silly String party, when she tried to hide her smiles as told the reporter that the killer was "out there doing whatever he wants," while they "[didn't] know if we're coming or going." Which is exactly how you would describe yourself in the wake of a vicious attack that left two of your children dead, right? "We don't know if we're coming or going?" SMH. Really tell us how you feel about the man you claim killed your children and then attacked you and left you for dead!) But hey, she also said that the police were "going beyond the call [of duty]," in investigating the crime, so obviously they were working harder than she expected or thought they needed to.
No one would believe her anyway. The jury crucified her for not sobbing and being hysterical at her murdered son's birthday, why would anyone believe she would be sad now? I think no matter how she acted, people would use it against her from how hard the prosecution came for her character.

that's a big bunch of absolutely BS and people have got to be the stupidest mother effers on the planet to believe that. their celebrating the boys birthday 8 days after the murders, they've had time to get their grieving behind them and celebrate their lives. I know it is possible that Darlee R. could not describe her attacker. Once at college I was accosted by a man as I was gathering my books and other possessions to leave. He was making suggestive comments about wanting to sit in my seat and he put his hand on my arm. I looked up at him, right at his face, but could not "see" him. I later had no recollection at all of his face but knew only he was a tall black man. There was a woman standing with him too but I couldn't tell anything about her at all. How much more traumatic would such an attack be when coming out of sleep be? Also, the way she looked--the injuries she had, especially to her neck--after the attack seems unlikely to have been self-inflicted by a "selfish, vain, woman." As far as the weird party--doped up and in denial I can see her behavior making sense, especially since we don't see how she behaved before or after. I have been to funerals where everyone is crying one minute, then laughing over memories soon after.
exactly, what do the detectives think, the guys going to hold a flashlight to his face and say "see this scar under my right eye and mole on the side of my nose..." it was dark, she's groggy he's got a hat on, no way she should be expected to identify him. As far as her injuries, how does everyone expect her to have the same injuries as her boys? they are 2 young defenseless children who were stabbed probably when they woke up and confronted him. The mother, being a full grown woman and mother defending her young is not going to be as easily overwhelmed. The party is called a memorial service or a tribute.
"after I saw the pictures of her injuries it came clear to me that she is not guilty, she put up a heck of a fight to protect herself" I thought she claims she overslept everything and woke up to a guy leaving the house and her realising she was cut, what heck of a fight are you talking about LOL She is guilty as f... My only question is how much her husband was involved and how come the police doesnt seem to consider him a suspect at all?
Darin was the first suspect. He was questioned for hours the night of the attacks, and beyond. But his story matched the evidence, and no evidence pointed at him. Darlie's story changed repeatedly, and the evidence all pointed at her.

@Go pack Go 12, there is more than enough evidence to prove she murdered her sons. There is no doubt, she did it, the blood evidence alone proves it. they had her on suicide watch after she was arrested not before the party where she was dancing on her sons' graves.

I have my own story of mothman. It was November 21, 2017, in Gallipolis, West Virginia. The day was chilly-about 45°F-with a mix of overcast skies and occasional sun. I was in the backyard after school, trying to get my homework done. as i’m working, I spot this dark shape perched on a tall pine tree. At first, I thought it was just a big crow or owl. this thing had huge, eerie wings spread out and looked kinda humanoid. Its eyes were glowing red, reflecting the dim light of the setting sun. Now this was around 6:55 Pm? But it was almost pitch black. Like a shadow almost. I was so freaked out that I couldn’t move or scream. It felt like time stopped. It was like this force around me couldn't let me move almost. Now this lasted for about 10 minutes, and it felt as if its eyes got brighter. Around maybe 7:15pm, it took off. But it almost levitated. Like an angel or spirit. It almost looked like it just went through the tree branches when it took off. I still have many horrible nightmares about what happened, and it didn't help that almost no one believed me, including my own mother. I've tried seeking therapy, but most people try to say it was hallucinations or just call me a clown. It severely ruined my mental state for a while. I'm happy Robert Stack covered this story without making fun of people who claimed to see it. There are many people who hoax stories, but many of us simply cannot explain what we have seen.
I’m not trying to discredit your experience but if you were unable to move for 10 mins how do you know the time stamps of everything that happened? Example; you said it lasted for 10 mins and around 7:15 it took off. How do you know what time it was if you were paralyzed by fear or the entity?
OK, there have been a lot of comments on here that claim innocence or guilt based on shows like 'UM' and 'Forensic Files', or imo the most biased, sensationalist of them all, 'Deadly Women'. As much as we may like these shows, people have to realise that they all to some extent skew the evidence by presenting only what fits into a certain time limit, what they are allowed to report or can cover in terms of cooperation of all people involved and legal reasons, and most importantly, in terms of what the often unethical producers believe will entertain and not offend your average audience member in the American mainstream. And don't forget how old 'UM' is, as they leave out critical information in certain cases, e.g. victims and/or perpetrators being gay, because that was too taboo even 20 years ago. So if you are really interested in True Crime and want the full story, research the complete and updated evidence available online, and subscribe to the more thorough, less commercial podcasts, etc. on the subject. At least before you go on public record claiming you know 100% who did it and why.
@@susannahv7219 , actually, her still being in prison, all these years later, is a bit of a testament to her being guilty. Not a single woman profiled on _Deadly Women_ has ever been innocent. I have researched the cases covered on that series, particularly because I remember the ones that were originally stories on UM first. Also, simple truth.. with a well known and successful FBI profiler on DW, especially it being a woman (Candice DeLong..who is called the real life Clarice Starling for a number of reasons) hasn't just profiled women either. While some liberties have been taken, the proof of the all too often Dark Triad personalities that women who kill or try to kill show is based in fact. If they were not, they would be sued. The only times they have EVER really had to "be careful" has been in cases that happened in nations like Canada.. where they foolishly have no real life sentences and overly protected underage sociopaths and psychopaths to the point of concealing their names like DW had no choice to do in two famous cases of female teens who murdered family members. Lastly.. we are now no longer in a culture that the fear of reprisal when admitting women can be as evil and in many cases worse than men. That is kind of what happens when misandrists push too hard and the worm turns. DW isn't popular because it sensationalizes.. it is popular because the women portrayed brought it on themselves and others by proxy.
@@Panwere36 This is the only time I'm going to reply to a reply, because I abhor the usually senseless and often entirely too personal back and forth arguments that go on here. Firstly, I am sorry if you personally felt singled out. I probably should have made a general comment instead of just a reply to you. My bad. Yours was about the 20th comment I'd read that seemed to claim absolute knowledge of the facts based only on a TV show, sensationalist or not. I truly fear a population of people who don't consume media critically. My plea was to all the people here who take a TV show as 100% truth and don't do any work to support a judgement they place on others - in public. HOWEVER...you personally have clearly done more research, so why not lead with those facts instead of just saying 'The TV said so.' ? That was my main point. I do disagree with your supposition about the nature of 'Deadly Women', and especially why it may be popular. However, I'm not interested in debating that. You'll never change my mind about the sensationalist, occasionally quasi-misogynist, sometimes ignorant commentary on that show, including some of the so-called experts on it, and I would go as far as to say you might even have personal bias that forms your opinion about people delighting in watching women 'get what's coming to them.', so I doubt I'll sway you. Just a side note, I don't at this moment dispute the guilt of anyone on that show, or of Ms. Routier. I don't know enough about any of the cases, and I only caught one season of 'DW' on Netflix. I just disapprove of some of the tabloid-worthy commentary and the way it to me often suggests the women are just 'evil', whatever that means outside of a purely religious context, rather than looking into very up-to-date explanations about what psychologically makes a murderer or narcissist or whatever. I may have my own misangynist leanings but I would want the same for any show looking into male murderers, etc. It's the psychology of a serious criminal that makes it so interesting and important to understand. I feel that all shows mentioned here lack in this department. Anyway, at least you appear well-written and considered, unlike so much of what goes on here, and I appreciate you taking the time to respond with an interesting argument, even if I feel it wasn't really addressing the point I wanted to make with my original reply. Good day to you, or whatever time of day it is where you are..
@@kurtmorris454 , go find the episode of _Deadly Women_ that profiled her. There you get all you need. Also, and this isn't just for you but for others as well. _Unsolved Mysteries_ , to be very honest, hasn't always been on the up and up. They did a notorious "story" about a young man who died and insinuated that a group known as the Society for Creative Anachronism (the SCA) either were covering up for his murder or that someone inside the organization did it. It has been since debunked, and disavowed.. and rarely shown in rebroadcast (only in video collections is the story even there). Also, the show has taking some liberties with facts and caused innocent people to be incarcerated as well (such as the instance of the case where Ted Binion overdosed... and his then girlfriend and "other man" were falsely imprisoned because of their story.. coupled with the deceased sister's obsession with having it all as well. I loved the show when I was a kid.. and still wonder about the stories that checked out that were never solved.. but they didn't get all of the stories right.. nor did they always set innocent people free either.

I think Darlene Routier did it, but I also know a few families that would posthumously celebrate a birthday with things (ie silly string) the deceased would like--granted they weren't murdered by their own family member. I personally don't see that as inappropriate or proving guilt in and of itself. Even though it's pretty macabre for the murderer to do it; she might have held this to look "normal."
Well, yeah...but after the violent murders of your two beautiful children? I could see if it were an elderly or infirm relative who the family knew ahead of time didn't have much time left, or even maybe something like that a year after such a violent death for two little kids to commemorate them, but this was just over a week after the attack.
No, the graveside party--the second posthumous birthday party she threw for Devon, btw--doesn't prove her guilt, at all. It's not even especially inappropriate in itself. The interview she gave at that party is pretty shocking, and is what really made many people suspect her, but even that doesn't prove her guilt; it just proves she was lying about her state of mind. It's the evidence that proves her guilt, and would easily have proved it even without the Silly String party.
Yeah, your innocence is in question, 2 of your 3 children are dead and you’re behind bars basically ruining your life and every time you talk you’re smirking. How is anyone supposed to take her seriously?
@@johnsavedbygrace3998 Some people smile when they're nervous and insecure. That doesn't mean she's necessarily innocent of course, but you could also put forward that a savage killer would be smart enough not to smirk when it counts. I guess we won't find out.

@@Scorch428 you do realize and i quote “ darlie almost died. the wound on her neck was with in a few centimeters of killing her” Thats from the Drs. How donyou inflict those kinds of injuries? And also There was a 🧦 sock found all the way down the end of there street near a sewer that had the childrens blood 🩸 on it. How do you explain that? They admitted she wouldnt have been able to bring that down the end of the street herself. Also the cut in the screen was done from the outside.
@@face2158 Have you seen the movie Scream? You can accidentally kill yourself if you don't know what you're doing when stabbing oneself. As far as the sock, Darren may have dropped it there while Darlie was on the phone. And it's easy to run around the house real quick and cut a screen. And her hair was found stuck on it anyway so she for sure did it.
How could you think that after all the evidence that points to innocence. The 911 call where she was hysterical, asking when the paramedics are gonna get there, the timeline of the crime scene where she would've only had 1 mi it's and 30sec to run 140 ft, come back to the house, slit her own throat, and stage and clean up the crime scene. You're just wrong. A mother who murdered her children wouldn't cry about not being able to do very specific things with her surviving child. Those are real tears, she doesn't have any fake tear liquid in prision, so you're saying a guilty person can just cry like that?
The defense for this monstrous woman is pitiful! You mean to tell me that an intruder selected her home, murdered her children and left? For what?? Hmmm...not sure if I'm following the defense on this one. I think she's guilty as sin.
apparently like many here you fell asleep watching this story and missed where they said there was a serial rapist in the neighborhood at that time entering homes early in the morning and who's methods were nearly exactly the same as what happened here. There is NOTHING here that shows her guilt.
Darlie is guilty as sin and the clock is ticking. She killed her two sons as they lay sleeping beside her. She's down to her last appeal. Emergency surgery my arse, she had exploratory surgery.
If I saw some rando guy at 2:30am standing over me I'd be screaming my head off for my husband. The entire neighbourhood would have been able to hear it.
Yep. But not only does Darlie expect us to believe that she just saw him, stood up, and slowly walked after him as he slowly walked away; not only does she expect us to believe that he dropped the knife as he walked away, thus arming her (but leaving no blood or marks on the floor where she claims she found the knife); but she expects us to believe that the intruder, (after brutally stabbing the boys, slowly cutting a jagged superficial wound in her neck, and then choosing to punch her up and down her arm instead of slicing at her more, stabbing her, or punching her in the face) just stood there and watched as Damon got up, made his slow, painstaking way to Darlie, and woke her up by speaking to her and patting her shoulder (leaving no bloody fingerprints where she claims he touched her, despite leaving them elsewhere). Because all killers stand around to make sure two of their intended victims are still alive before they meander away from the scene.
Darlie is guilty. Forensic Files did a show on her and the evidence shows that no one broke into the home. The screen was cut from the inside to make it look like a break in. They did an analysis of the blood splatter on the floor. All of the evidence did not match up to Darlie's story.
A- what does the screen have to do with anything? B- How does cutting the screen show weather it was done from the inside or the outside? Could have cut it from the outside, went through and pushed the edges out knowing he was going to make a quick get-a-way.
@Kc Armstrong If you bothered to actually understand facts and details of the case instead of relying on your "opinions" you would get it but obviously you don't.
@@kurtmorris454 It's 1 piece of evidence that adds to all the other pieces. If you don't understand how an investigation actually works just admit it and move on. The screen was cut from the inside. No one broke in. The scene was staged.
Consider this: Darlie didn't hurt her favorite son, the baby; but she had no issue killing her older two boys. I don't know, some mothers can do some pretty messed up things to their older children.
Darren & Darlie's marriage wasn't what they portrayed it to be. Yes… they were well off to a certain degree because of his success, but mostly he wasn't home leaving her with their children a bulk of the time and I think in her mind ( 1 child would've given her more freedom once again ) She reminds me of Diane Downs. Back in the 80's she *tried* to murder all 3 of her children but 2 lived, all because the man she forever loved didn't want kids. ( none of her 3 were his ) So in her mind, they had to go! She too… sliced her own arm to seem as if she was attacked! Then continued to lie not only with a straight face, but sometimes a smile! She's still in prison to this very day. I have no idea what makes a mother commit such violent acts on innocent souls that were entrusted to them from God, but no matter what comes out her mouth… *SHE KNOWS SHE KILLED HER BABY'S!*
How do you not know you was stabbed or sliced several times until you saw the guy leaving the house and dropped the knife? Darlie's story simply does not make any sense.
I had watched on forensic files that someone was supposed to rob their house of all the valuables do they could get insurance money cuz they were in so much debt, but that Darlie didn't know about it, and he supposedly, "called it off"!! But the intruder came anyway and killed the kids and almost killed her. I don't think she did it cuz she just didn't have time. N they use that one little tiny blood drop in the shoulder of her nite shirt as the evidence she swung the knife from over her head and that's how it got there....no she was running through the house like a crazy person and could have dropped from anywhere, but they didn't wanna think that! I just don't think she did it, plus the video at the cemetery to me shouldn't have been shown because she wanted to out up a good face for what would have been her babies b-day, and a person can only cry so much before they run out of tears to cry! If you don't try to feel something else besides despair you'll be in the nut house. So she didn't do it! But judging from the comment section, we are the only 2 on here that think she didn't do it. N she's still on death row after all these years. A few years ago I saw something on t.v. and thought they were gonna give her a new trial or maybe even an acquittal, but she is still in the pen so who knows what will happen to her, but she's innocent in my book!!
Right... I'm in a room for justice for the boys she is so guilty. The evidence against her is ridiculous. Not one single stitch of evidence of an intruder.
Jo, they tested her for drugs. The only ones in her system were the diet pills. She has testified and Kee that Darin is innocent. Do you think that she would sit on DR for 24 years if Darin was guiltily? They would have thrown him under the bus years ago. You're right the killer did live there her name is DarLIE and every stitch of evidence points to her including the fingerprint that has no male dna, the blood splatter on the back of her shirt and her little scratches on her chest. While the boys were brutally stabbed to death. She was worth more dead than alive so....you mean to tell me Darin would have killed the boys for far less money? Sure, makes complete sense. The clock is ticking on killer DarLIE and she is just about due. There is no evidence whatsoever to prove your theories and all the evidence that proves DarLIES GUILT
@jo douglas what does a rape kit have to do with anything? She wasn't raped. She didn't fight off an intruder either she has even said that. Where are the non facts that I said? Everything i posted is the truth. You have theories i have facts.Yours is riddled with what ifs...and I thinks... they drug tested her. Before she went under anesthesia. Just diet pills.. You can make any excuses or lies you want for killer DarLIE. She's still on death row where she belongs because the evidence put her there, and only her. Her scratch did not even cut into muscle, just fat. She got steri-strips for her "life threatening" cut. You can believe Darin did it all you want thats fine the fact remains that she is incarcerated he is not. Tick tock DarLIES times almost up. If your so sure take your theories and non facts to the police im sure they will believe you against the mountain of evidence against her.
When That evil mother who murdered her little boy's speaks at the interview, she explains everything to me in that 15 seconds. She spoke on how she has been done wrong, she's innocent, she was wrongfully convicted. Oh and her family. Not once did she speak on the fact that the real killer is running free, that other children's lives are at risk, and how her childrens murder never received justice, and without the real killer they died in vain. Because of this simple fact, it's shows her narsasistic, sociopathic, deranged mind only has herself in mind BOOM!!
C o Interesting that you say that...because I know a mother of two.she was a victim of domestic violence her “partner” was a lowlife and drug addict,he would beat her choke her and one day even tried to drown her in the toilet.one day he even stabbed his two boys they were very little at the time.unfortunately those two boys have Cancer today.maybe that is what caused them to be diagnosed with Cancer?..a traumatic experience...?today that lowlife is in prison for life.and that woman moved on and has a better life and lives and breathes for her two boys.
Ya know, I seem to recall this 1st story on a show called City Confidential years ago. And it seemed strange & very off to me then, regarding both parents! And the posthumous birthday party begged many questions imao!🤨
A killer break to the home at midnight kills your children's, then try killing you.. a week later you make a joyful garden party !! This is impossible.. in real event you should a few months mentally ill, feeling not safe, be nervous, having fear all the times, showing huge amounts of stress thinking the killer may back again.. try moving to another place.. by the way why the killer murdered 2 person by stabbing a few times in the chest area but at the 3 victims he totally changed his method.. all she had was a few cutting style wounds no single stabbing ..
Her mom does have a point about the life insurance. And it is bothering that she would only kill the older 2 boys. Why not her husband and all the kids?

I am so torn on the first case. I think the evidence points to the mother but how can you explain the bruising on her arm? If I squeezed my arm as hard as I could on myself I would not be able to do that let alone a woman.
The bruising on her arm was not there when she was in the hospital after the attack. The medical staff confirmed this at trial. The bruising did not show up until after she left the hospital. Unsolved Mysteries left that part out.
I say her husband did it and that someone helped him. And they made sure that she got the blame, her husband framed her, he should be sitting where she is. He has changed his stories too. And he failed a lie director test. He was also looking for someone to rob his house, he's guiltly, Etc.. Plus all the cops, Drs, nurses, detectives all messed up her case. They also lied in court. They made sure she proven guilty when shes not, they also didnt show all pictures that were taken, didn't show the whole video from the grave, etc. I believe this woman is innocent.
I definitely agree, I also thought the husband was guilty, how do you sleep through 2 murders and the attempted murder of your wife, I’m sure she was screaming
She is guilty, and none of what you have said is true (except that Darin changed his stories and failed a lie detector test, as well). Darlie also failed her lie detector test; Darin's asked only if he knew who killed the boys, not if he had killed them. No one framed her, and the only people who lied in court were Darlie and her family--Darin changed his stories to try to back up Darlie, not to clear himself. He even admitted to the made-up story about looking for someone to stage a burglary in an attempt to get her out of jail. (If he had framed her, why would he have then lied for her and supported her all these years?)
She's innocent. Ive always thought that. The hair in the screen shows the cops bungled the investigation! Yes she's not the sharpest tool and a little trashy. That doesn't make her guilty!
The hair in the screen proves the investigators were conscientious and sought for any evidence of her innocence they could find. When DNA testing proved the hair wasn't hers, the investigators basically looked at everything any of the people at the scene had done/anyone they'd interacted with, and finally found, through DNA matching, that the hair belonged to a female police officer who was not at the scene. That's how devoted to the truth the investigators and prosecutors were, and how hard they worked to solve this crime. This was all testified to by the experts at her trial; it was brought out by the prosecution. The investigation was not "bungled." She is guilty. The trial transcripts and appellate rulings are all available online, for free; I highly recommend you read them if you want to know the truth and the real facts in this case. You're right that being dumb and trashy doesn't make her guilty. What makes her guilty is that she killed her sons.
@@lindsayjenney2151 No, she isn't, and no, they didn't. The memorial service lasted 45 minutes, and though her family and lawyers claim that video shows Darlie sobbing and wailing and throwing herself to the ground with grief, they have never proved it by showing the video, and the few tiny clips they have let people see show nothing of the sort. Ask yourself: if they have such strong evidence that they claim would totally erase the "Silly String video" from the public consciousness and prove that Darlie was so traumatized, why have they refused to show it for over twenty-five years now? If you or your family member was in jail for a crime they didn't commit, and you possessed such strong evidence of their innocence, wouldn't you be displaying that evidence everywhere you could? But not only did Darlie's lawyer decline to show the video at her trial, her family and current lawyers still refuse to show it. Why? (Obviously because it doesn't show what they claim it does, and if they let people see it, they can't lie about it anymore.)
Oh YES! There is a HUGE mystery regarding Darlie, and that is how the hell can ANYONE think she is guilty? Those must be the same jurors that let Casey Anthony go free! There is NO WAY that Darlie killed her children, then almost killed herself with a "self inflicted" gash a miniscule distance from her carotid. BS!!
@@violetmiller9999 But she DID. By the way, her wound was closed to a steri-strip. Which amounts to a long lasting bandaid. Why does she refer to the murder of her children as "the man" and her babies as "those boys?" That's distancing language, language of the guilty. Why when asked to recount the murder she starts at dinner? Because in her mind that's when she started contemplating it that day & It completed with the murder. She talked for a very long time about her day before they were killed. Innocent people talk very little about right before a crime. Search out Peter Hyatt's blog on her statements and 911 call. He teaches the FBI.
We do not have a perfect criminal system It use to be that a person was innocent until proven guilty But the. Truth is A person is guilty and has to prove their innocence
Darlie maintained her presumption of innocence until her conviction in 1997. Since then, the standard she must present to the court is affirmative evidence of her innocence. Outside of a procedural error. It's always been that way.

The fact that they couldn't find any footprints of an attacker in all of that blood, pretty much, seals it for me. That's impossible! Darlie is the only plausible suspect.

Also if that’s not the way it happened why would anyone say that? She had to know it would be hard to believe she didn’t wake up from that but I think she’s telling the truth. What about the sock? The thing that gets me the most about the Routier case is that - if an intruder did come in and attempt to kill people they would definitely, definitely make sure that the adults in the house were dead before going after their children, nevertheless killing the father first (and here there was not a scratch on the father).
There's no chance on Earth that an intruder would stab small children to death (wasting time) before trying to subdue the actual adults that live there.
Darlie killed her children and her husband was probably involved to some extent.

The cop who said that it's suspect that she couldn't describe the person who attacked her - has obviously never been attacked. I was attacked when I was a teenager (nearly 40 years ago now) and here's what I can tell you:
- exactly where it happened, where he first made a comment to me while riding past me on his BMX bike.

But she literally couldn’t describe nothing even as he ran out of the house.
@@markmiller489, you can't tell how that kind of event will affect someone. Now, put someone without that kind of background into a traumatic experience like that...who knows how badly it will affect them. I've read some cases where their brains will literally block their memory - 5 mins before, no problem - 5 mins after, good to go - during the trauma...nothing.

@@tmac7547The mind is a strangely fickle thing at times…

"second, there was a serial rapist in the neighborhood at that time entering homes early in the morning and who's methods were nearly exactly the same as what happened here."
No, they weren't. This was raised on appeal:
654. The Court finds that the Dallas sexual assaults as set out in the tendered police reports are significantly dissimilar to the instant offense for the following reasons:
As one of Applicant’s neighbors described Rowlett in relation to Dallas:
Rowlett, Texas, is located to the [north]east of Dallas, on Lake Ray Hubbard, the city reservoir.
In contrast, Brantley testified regarding the Routier case:

"He snuck in from the basement unaware that 3 people were asleep down there,"
There was no basement.
"and when the one boy awoke and confronted him, he quickly killed him so he couldn't be a witness and escalated into the other boy and mom awakening and the guy stabbing the other boy"
Darlie slept through all of that commotion?
"but the mother, being an adult and a mother defending her babies is not going to be such easy prey..."
She would've been very easy prey and every bit as vulnerable as the children were when she was asleep, which she claimed to be when this alleged intruder came in. She was also the biggest threat in the room so why wouldn't the intruder put the knife right through her like was done to those little children?
"the knife print theory as she claimed that she picked up the knife fearing he might come back."
Then she promptly laid it on the counter, turned her back on it, and walked away.

Yep.
(Oh, she also said that the intruder "had to go through [the boys] to get to [her]," and that to her that was "such a cowardness." Wow, don't hold anything back, Darlie! Really tell us how you feel about the man you claim killed your children and then attacked you and left you for dead!)
But hey, she also said that the police were "going beyond the call [of duty]," in investigating the crime, so obviously they were working harder than she expected or thought they needed to.
No one would believe her anyway. The jury crucified her for not sobbing and being hysterical at her murdered son's birthday, why would anyone believe she would be sad now? I think no matter how she acted, people would use it against her from how hard the prosecution came for her character.

Over on Netflix, the Mothman has also been featured in the latest season of Unsolved Mysteries. Maybe you can send in your story
I’m not trying to discredit your experience but if you were unable to move for 10 mins how do you know the time stamps of everything that happened? Example; you said it lasted for 10 mins and around 7:15 it took off. How do you know what time it was if you were paralyzed by fear or the entity?
@@andreatheanalyst I said "Maybe 7:15"
Darlie Routier did it. They profiled her on _Deadly Women_ , the fifth episode of season five, "Killing Their Own".

No, the graveside party--the second posthumous birthday party she threw for Devon, btw--doesn't prove her guilt, at all. It's not even especially inappropriate in itself. The interview she gave at that party is pretty shocking, and is what really made many people suspect her, but even that doesn't prove her guilt; it just proves she was lying about her state of mind.

The baby was sleeping with his dad I think it said.
Darren & Darlie's marriage wasn't what they portrayed it to be. Yes… they were well off to a certain degree because of his success, but mostly he wasn't home leaving her with their children a bulk of the time and I think in her mind ( 1 child would've given her more freedom once again )
She reminds me of Diane Downs. Back in the 80's she *tried* to murder all 3 of her children but 2 lived, all because the man she forever loved didn't want kids.
( none of her 3 were his )
So in her mind, they had to go!
Not this mother I never would ever hurt my two sons
Narcissistic Mother's are utterly ruthless. They will fabricate, lie and kill their own children, no sweat.
and how do you know this, because a bunch of circus clowns doing this investigation told you so? Larry, Moe and Curley could have done better.
The Mothman Prophecies was released at around this time.
Isn't it Point Pleasant, WEST Virginia?
Yes it is. You are 100% correct.
How do you not know you was stabbed or sliced several times until you saw the guy leaving the house and dropped the knife? Darlie's story simply does not make any sense.
That Darren Routier is SHADY!!!! I THINK he paid a man to do this.
@@peachymeechie1844, I wished that we Could find out the 100% truth soon.

Haha was gonna say thrash metal style
So this woman got "stabbed" in her sleep and didn't wake up?
Lol right!!😂
@jo douglas not kidding and neither does the evidence 🙂
Did you watch the full uncut interview?
that means nothing

Her story doesn't make any sense and the motive seems to point to her and her husband
I don’t know if she did it. But what did that video have anything to do with the case?
Remind of Jon Bonet, parents always blame "the intruder"
Tv show error - Gatesville is where the women’s death row is located in Texas
And the death house/death chamber

But, the Men’s death row is located in Livingston, Texas
There were a lot of errors on Darlies story

90 percent of females in Texas are housed in gatesville The men's prisons are in Huntsville at the Huntsville unit(walls). So the women stay in gatesville until 24 hours till the execution then they will be transported to the Huntsville unit where the death house is located.Dont know if this helps any ..have a good one! And now 2021 the men's death row is at polunski unit in Livingston ,Texas about 45 minutes from the Huntsville unit.same as the females 24 to execution the inmate then is transported to Huntsville unit where death house is located. The death house and death row are in totally different prisons.why they do things this way I haven't a clue but that's how they do things ass backwards lol have a good one.

Darlie seems like a nut case, some ppl are just cold selfish & evil
Why haven't they showed the case in unsolved mystiers yet of Damon Williams in Arizona a truck driver came up missing yet
No, but you could easily do it by slamming your arm in a door, as could any woman.
Robert Shack says Mothman was spotted in Pt. Pleasant Virginia...it’s West Virginia lol, we are a seperate state! I live close :)
Trucker Mississippi Reject Not really, meaning they’re not seperate states?? I don’t understand your reply.
STACK!
Maybe if she had got a job, contributed something, and didn't hemorrhage his money, he wouldn't have "framed her".
The police lied and altered evidence. Withheld evidence. Lied to the public saying they have evidence
She's innocent. Ive always thought that. The hair in the screen shows the cops bungled the investigation! Yes she's not the sharpest tool and a little trashy. That doesn't make her guilty!
I agree, she is totally innocent!
Before they blew silly string for his birthday they had a two hour tearful prayer session. She is entirely innocent. Sickening
Shes EXTREMELY trashy.
There is no mystery regarding Darlie cant believe they included this on Unsolved Mysteries....
BS!!
@@violetmiller9999 DNA evidence
@@violetmiller9999 But she DID. By the way, her wound was closed to a steri-strip. Which amounts to a long lasting bandaid.
Why does she refer to the murder of her children as "the man" and her babies as "those boys?" That's distancing language, language of the guilty.
Why when asked to recount the murder she starts at dinner? Because in her mind that's when she started contemplating it that day & It completed with the murder. She talked for a very long time about her day before they were killed. Innocent people talk very little about right before a crime.

We do not have a perfect criminal system
It use to be that a person was innocent until proven guilty
But the. Truth is
A person is guilty and has to prove their innocence
Darlie maintained her presumption of innocence until her conviction in 1997. Since then, the standard she must present to the court is affirmative evidence of her innocence. Outside of a procedural error. It's always been that way.
I don't know who killed those kids, but the fact is that the system doesn't care who is guilty. They want to be able to close a case.
