i'll never be tired to say it, Ripley is the ideal of a female action lead role. There is not one single moment in these movies where you'd doubt her professionalism, her ambitions, and her toughness. Nothing forced behind it, she's just got it in her. Sigourney Weaver will always be in my memory for that. My favourite actress if I think about it now
Agreed! Both Ripley and the Alien were female mommas protecting and avenging their young. Gotta love it!!! 🥰 Ripley lost her real daughter and had motherly instincts toward Neut, who even calls her mommy at the end. Without speaking the same language Ripley and the alien understood each other when Ripley used the blowtorch near the eggs. The alien queen told her offspring to back off Ripley in order to protect the eggs. But then Ripley torched them all anyway which enraged the queen, which is why she came after her. Two badass mommas going toe to toe!! Yeah!! 💪 🤗
Not really. She didn't get paid either time, plus she's deep in debt for the cost of one freighter, one refinery, and one atmospheric processing center. 😕

@@tomdeluca5946 he probably just loosened them, and was able to get out of the room before they freed themselves. He would have had at least a few second head start.
Paul Reiser doesn't get enough credit for this role, where he has the extremely hard job of having to be so likeable in his early scenes that you believe Ripley wouldn't be immediately suspicious of anyone from the Company after what happened in the last movie, and just as hardassed as she is toward Bishop, and then make it feel natural when he transitions to his true ruthless personality. It also made for a pretty fun story arc in Stranger Things where you're deliberately set up to think his character is going to be just like Burke, but he ultimately turns out to be a pretty okay guy.
And he did such a good job at ultimately making Burke absolutely despicable, that during the movie's premiere screening Paul's sister actually hit him and when Burke was killed Paul's mom simply responded; "Good."
I was totally in awe when first watching this because i watched "mad about you" frequently during that time and just couldn't connect him to be in the villain role haha

After the movie was finished I couldn't even get out of my seat, so I was forced to watch it again (not that I was averse to doing so). It seems to get better every time I see it! 👍
The first Alien was directed by Ridley Scott. This one was directed by James Cameron, who brought three actors over from his last directing gig. Maybe you've heard about it, it's called "Terminator"? And when he went to make T2, he brought another one from Aliens with him.
Visiting the museum in Austria of H.R Giger is something I must recommend. This design and the aesthetics of these creatures is outstanding. And Aliens is one of these movies: "Sequals can be better, than the first movie"
This was great to watch again.... I agree with your reactions and commentary here . This is my favorite Alien movie in the franchise.... they are all great but this one stands out for me the most . I do wish that Hicks had survived.... he was really on Ripley's side the whole time . Fun Fact: The same actor that was in Love with Sarah Connor in the original Terminator Kyle Reese is also Hicks in Aliens and has a thing for Ripley.... he definitely has a type.... strong bad ass women. I would really like to see your reaction to "Death Proof"~ 2007 a Quentin Tarantino film. Thank you a lot for your channel .
They hire Ripley because she's faced these things before, then they don't listen to a word she says. If you're going to take an expert on a mission listen to them!
Here's the scenes added for the special addition (though it's been at least two decades since I saw the theatrical version so there may be some stuff I forgot wasn't in it): - Ripley learning about her daughter. This is easily the most damaging cut, since without it there isn't ANY direct reference to her daughter left, and thus how she takes on Newt as a substitute for that connection. -Newt's family finding the alien ship. In the theatrical cut we don't see anything of LV-426 until the marines get there. -The fakeout with the lab mice. This is definitely the most superfluous bit and probably could have remained cut with no one caring. -The entire scene with the gun turrets, including the bit of dialogue in the planning scene that mentions them. -Ripley and Hicks exchanging first names before she heads off to get Newt. Another case of the theatrical cut losing a meaningful character moment in favor of focusing just on the action.
@@d3l3tes00n Agreed! This version KILLED the pacing of the movie. I can't stand it when people say "You need to watch the director's cut" with the assumption it is better. This is one case where it is not.
@@sedawk Yes! This one & T2, I prefer the theatrical. I've talked to a lot of people who needed Ripley to have been a mother for the bond with Newt to be "realistic" for them, but I never found it unrealistic in the slightest. I have zero desire to have kids, but if I were Ripley, I would've cared for Newt just the same.
Alien is a damn masterpiece of suspense framed by incredible cinematography. James Cameron was probably the one and only to properly propagate the series

By the way, Hicks is in the first Terminator movie. The android and Vasquez are in the second Terminator movie. But I bet you don't recognize Vasquez. In this movie she is a bad ass Hispanic soldier. In T2 she is a Jewish step mom. LOL. Oh, and of course Bill Paxton, the dude who played Hudson became the biggest star of all from these movies. Much bigger than Sigourney Weaver. Sadly, he died a few years back.
Hi love your reaction as always🤗 such a great film. And btw ' Terminator' came out after 'Alien' but b4 'Aliens' so that guy (actor Micheal Biehn) who you said was nice to Ripley & you liked him. Yep. We all like him. He's from 'The Terminator' . Can't wait for you to watch them also ✌️
The Xenomorph Queen is the largest puppet in the history of film. It's about 20 feet long and 14 tall, and is hung from a crane (part of the reason the head is so big is to hide the cables). It requires 12-16 people to operate the creature, including two stuntmen INSIDE the queen doing the arms.
The character of Burke was so despicable that when the actor's mother watched the movie the first time she cheered when Burke got snatched by the alien haha. Burke is high on the hated character list along with Percy on "the green mile" & Billy Zane from "titanicv.
I agree this was better than the first one, but I love all of the Alien movies. I also love how they intersect with The Predator movies, love all of those too.
I get it but I also don’t; like I wouldn’t have put so much disbelief on Ripley’s story, as if she was a monster who just decided to blow up her ship, killing her crew and wasting millions of dollars, for no reason, yknow? That’s why I was a bit peeved.
according to the first film it takes 7 months in sleep to get there, So you are looking at 6 months if burker send the colonists out and they lost the transmission, Since newt is still young, so i would say 4 or 5 months she has been living on her own. in military units there is a lot of banter, nothing serious, just tension release, thats why they are so off to outsiders but internally its a bonding situation
23:06 She knows because of a cut scene we don't get to see in the first movie, and that the colonist were not killed. The Xenomorph needs Bio material... The small mouth is like a Stinger, and it can kill if the creature deems the host is not suitable. Every time you see the small mouth come out, they are knocking out their victim. Even Burk is not dead :( .The outer mouth is used to break down light material/ to mold. The Outer mouth produces a lot of Acidic property's to break down most Bio and light material. While it's Concentrated Blood is designed to allow it's bio mechanical property's to function. It's these property's that allow the Xenomorph to Mature Fast. To communicate from long distance... The hissing you see with them is how they See.. it's a cross of Sonar and Heat detection. There not hissing out of anger, it's their way of vision. Even when you hear them breathing {passive Sonar}. Earths bats beat them to this tech :) H. G. 's Design was crazy, but made perfect for horror. His ideal was to mix Man/Monster/with Machine. Xenomorph is Human DNA = man Monster=creature part Then Machine = which is the metal mouth/bio synthetic tubing and Armor you see on his sides and back. The machine part assists in it life cycle rate too. These creatures must hibernate to slow down or stop the growth process till death. The Eggs we see are also in a hibernation state, waiting for warmth or movement to awaken. The Human body's you see on the walls are leftover food, or material to make eggs if no queen. They are frozen in time, by the Slava material that's placed all over them. {food preservation lol}
How many more things can go wrong? The answer is ALL THE THINGS The first one is more of a horror film, this one is action action action! I love them both.
Oh yes. Aliens kicks ALL the ass! I can't say whether I like it more than Alien; it's really a tie for me. After all, they're both perfect examples of their genres, and from a design standpoint I absolutely worship both of them. It's just a shame that there weren't any more Alien movies made after those two... 😏 I've got to say, James Cameron is the best director when it comes to action (with the possible exception of Spielberg). he knows how to hit the crowd-pleasing moments, and no matter how frenetic the action might get, you always know what's going on, where everyone is and what everyone is doing. Have you done Terminator 1 & 2 yet, Sam? 10:55 Oh, and what is that, you ask? That is an amazing visual effect! The set was only built up to about 7 or 8 feet, while the rest of the alien encrustation was built as a model and placed between the set and the camera. 100% in-camera effect, and you can't see the join. It's no wonder this film won the Oscar for best VFX; it uses every trick in the book and it uses them to perfection
The aliens are cut in a way that suggests them, rather than reveals them, but in an action sense. They are like wraiths or ghosts in this film, and you could literally be attacked from anywhere at any point. This is why the film is so tense; you'd be going crazy trying to look everywhere at once if you were in this situation.
So many of you wanted me to watch the sequel, I just couldn't resist 👀 So i hope you all enjoy this!!

And Aliens is one of these movies: "Sequals can be better, than the first movie"
Ahhhhhh it's happening!!! This is one of my fave movies. Cannot wait.
Yay, this is what I came looking for, happy you uploaded 😊
That moment when Burke turns off the video monitor.... yeah.
The first one with Fassbender(Prometheus) is a prequel and shows how they came to be.
They hire Ripley because she's faced these things before, then they don't listen to a word she says. If you're going to take an expert on a mission listen to them!
Here's the scenes added for the special addition (though it's been at least two decades since I saw the theatrical version so there may be some stuff I forgot wasn't in it):
- Ripley learning about her daughter.
I can't stand this version. It ruins the Newt reveal & her daughter isn't necessary.
Ohhhh okay. Thank you for letting me know! Whenever I watch the directors cut of movies, I never know what scenes are added in.
Been so long since I've seen Aliens. A great action horror film. I love Bishop!!
This is a great movie but I’ll have nightmares if I watch it now. Thumbs up!
That was a fun watch. Awesome video.
Alien is a damn masterpiece of suspense framed by incredible cinematography. James Cameron was probably the one and only to properly propagate the series
This movie is awesome I was only 9 years old when I first saw this back in 1986
Great reaction as always, I love the alien film collection, though I would be the same with, you want me to go back to investigate...hell NO I'm keeping my butt on my home planet lmao
I can't believe you made it through the whole video with that little cursing, if only for all the cursing in the movie itself 😆
Alien movies in a nut shell: Ripley has an idea, people don't listen, people die, Ripley hibernates and repeats as needed.
An intersting fact about janet goldstein is that she was the guardian in terminator 2
Yaaaaay, cant wait to see this reaction hehe, watching a day late as I had a 4 hour grading class with my students yesterday and was totally shattered, I don't just teach I train with them, not many Instructors do that, but why should they have to go though hell while I stand and watch them lol.
she should add a what the F and OMG counter ! ^^
It's a stunt boy who slides down the chute.
Can't wait for you to watch them also ✌️
I'm told even the mother of the actor who played Burke cheered when his character got killed.
LMAO!
23:00
Balls. Those are called balls.
Ripley is a force to be reckoned with.
Alright, Marines! On the ready line! :D
Absolutely BADASSES! :P
From Earth to LV426, 10 months journey. In the film, they use a form of FTL drive
Ripley. Simply the top of all the heroic female characters ever written.
Still the most exciting movie I ever saw at the theater thanks Sam!
For trivia fans, the ship in alien is the nostromo, in aliens it’s the sulaco.
The character of Burke was so despicable that when the actor's mother watched the movie the first time she cheered when Burke got snatched by the alien haha. Burke is high on the hated character list along with Percy on "the green mile" & Billy Zane from "titanicv.
Great reaction and the directors cut is so much better than the regular
I agree this was better than the first one, but I love all of the Alien movies. I also love how they intersect with The Predator movies, love all of those too.
The first two movies are why I say practical effects are always better than CGI

Extremely intense movie and my favorite of the trilogy!!!
4:05 I don't blame the executive there. You have 1 person telling a weird story while also have an entire 20 yo colony that lived fine there.
23:06 She knows because of a cut scene we don't get to see in the first movie, and that the colonist were not killed. The Xenomorph needs Bio material... The small mouth is like a Stinger, and it can kill if the creature deems the host is not suitable. Every time you see the small mouth come out, they are knocking out their victim. Even Burk is not dead :( .The outer mouth is used to break down light material/ to mold. The Outer mouth produces a lot of Acidic property's to break down most Bio and light material. While it's Concentrated Blood is designed to allow it's bio mechanical property's to function. It's these property's that allow the Xenomorph to Mature Fast. To communicate from long distance... The hissing you see with them is how they See.. it's a cross of Sonar and Heat detection. There not hissing out of anger, it's their way of vision. Even when you hear them breathing {passive Sonar}. Earths bats beat them to this tech :)
H. G. 's Design was crazy, but made perfect for horror. His ideal was to mix Man/Monster/with Machine. Xenomorph is Human DNA = man Monster=creature part Then Machine = which is the metal mouth/bio synthetic tubing and Armor you see on his sides and back. The machine part assists in it life cycle rate too. These creatures must hibernate to slow down or stop the growth process till death. The Eggs we see are also in a hibernation state, waiting for warmth or movement to awaken. The Human body's you see on the walls are leftover food, or material to make eggs if no queen. They are frozen in time, by the Slava material that's placed all over them. {food preservation lol}
How many more things can go wrong? The answer is ALL THE THINGS
The first one is more of a horror film, this one is action action action!
I've got to say, James Cameron is the best director when it comes to action (with the possible exception of Spielberg). he knows how to hit the crowd-pleasing moments, and no matter how frenetic the action might get, you always know what's going on, where everyone is and what everyone is doing.
I love watching a young lesbian discover this movie! Sigourney Weaver is such an amazing action hero and movie role model!
One of my fave films of all time! Gonna be great :D Game over, man!
Absolutely loved this Sam! 👍💛🙌
what a great friday treat
