    I've been using mine in PC mode via USB SSD since Feb of 2021 - I know others that have used USB sticks but I decided the SSD route was better from the feedback of other users. I got the VCS in Dec but was slow to go through the process of getting it on Ubuntu and all the tweaks etc that entailed. NOT that many as it turned out - I'm just a procrastinator when changing daily drivers (my SteamDeck is due to get some love 6 months after getting it to acquire all the extras to make it 'perfect').
    PRETTY good mini PC in my (biased opinion). Basic take - I got into Linux (finally) and ran Steam through Proton more than a year before I took delivery of the Steam Deck - while blowing the doors off my circa 2010 Mac Mini (which was replaced for essentially 1/3 the price of a new one (1/4 the price before the M1 chips came out).
    Plus I still have two OSes at boot to choose from if I want to support the indie side with AtariOS (much like I'll be using the steamdeck between Windows 10 and KDE Linux).
    At full retail it may be a disappointment - but mine was 100 off retail since I was a crowdfunder.
    Edit - if you are more reliant on Windows 'muscle memory' Mint is also a fine Linux OS that might make the transition easier (from what I've heard and the overall look and feel of the OS).

      1/3 the price of a new computer when it were bought 11 years prior is hardly a fair comparison. If you wanna have a worthwhile contest, using that price difference-calling the VCS “1/3 the price”-then run it up against a 3X the price MacBook Air M1, from late 2020 - the same time the VCS dropped to backers. Snapdragon Xs are just now starting to surpass those - as early as a few weeks ago.
      A 2010 Mac Mini cost far less than a $300 (plus your backer money or $400, total)/a VCS, in early 2021. A 2015 Mac Mini cost about the same as a VCS, at that point and although I love my VCS, a 2015 Mac Mini is far more capable, still-especially with the far more/better software with which it ships and the internal drive of choice with which it could be gotten, for that price-as opposed to a 32GB eMMC. Kinda sad to say a new mini-PC it blows the doors off an 11-year old Mac mini, but haters gonna hate. j/k 🍻

    Yeah, I’m finding the VCS Classic Controller (joystick) to be more and more useful, for VCS and other games that work with BlueTooth-enabled devices. So, I’m glad I bought four of them last year-as they were in stock, in quantity-when they were on sale for $25 or $30 each - just to meet the minimum for free shipping. I didn’t buy them to price-gouge on eBay, mind you, but to use, hopefully playing _Warlords Recharged_ in couch co-op, when they (better damned well) make it. Whether it’s “Recharged” or “Beyond” is fine - but not “Neo,” I hope, if that’s related to the color and (non-)vector-style of _Neo-Sprint._ That’s fine for that game, but _Warlords_ would make an awesome Recharged title... Keeping three of them in boxes, until then - using the one I got with the bundle and the fourth, for now. So, even if Warlords doesn’t get recharged, I’ll have modern spinner-sticks for life.
    That reminds me. I heard _Neo-Sprint_ can be played with the spinners, which sounds great. So, I should pick it up, now-even at only $1.50 off-if it does four-player couch competitive... Cheers, and thanks, as always, for the great vid!

      I have to admit I am not sure how to do that. BalenaEtcher seems to let me clone it to another USB, but not sure how to make an image of it to upload somewhere.

      @digitalbilly Год назад

      @@MockduckPlaysGames you can clone with balenaEtcher to another USB drive but not to a file... to clone usb to a file its the same process as cloning your hardrives on your computer you will need a tool like Macrium Reflect its free and its the same utility to clone hardrives. i backed up my VCS this utility and my PCs at home for safe keeping ruclips.net/video/Dkw7evMLdYU/видео.html

    I want one of these PC Mode drives but Atari doesn't ship to Canada. Is it easy enough to make DIY Linux stick? Or will I run into trouble if I'm not a coder/programmer?

      You could install Linux from one USB (try mode) to another USB stick someone told me. That should be a similar system

    Is there a way to order such a stick for shipment to Germany since the Atari store still refuses to take orders outside the USA?
