I can't hold up my tears from falling as we sang it this day in our District Conference .. I saw a vision of my inactive family in pain and hungry and in wander ... reminding me of what I have lack yet as a member and as missionary ..
This is THE most beautiful arrangement of a not-too-often sung hymn! It’s on my favorites and my husband and I listen to it over and over. It has such an encouraging and inspiring message performed with the most beautiful harmonies!
I don't know how to feel or how to express my feelings after hearing this heavenly talented brethren singing,, been a week I just hard trials after hearing this, my heart is lifted to my heavenly father and full of gratitude, I love you my brothers thank you for your faith your beautiful voices for spirit that touch me at this point of my life, sometimes I forget to turn to our loving heavenly father for help and not rely on my own natural man attitude
So much hope in this Hymn, each and every one has a deep messege, we are all hungry and helpless and cold, and somehow, our dear Father finds time to leave the 99 to find the wanderer. simply Amazing
Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are the sheep of His fold; Dear is the love that He gives them, Dearer than silver or gold. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are His "other" lost sheep; Over the mountains He follows, Over the waters so deep. Out in the desert they wander, Hungry and helpless and cold; Off to the rescue He hastens, Bringing them back to the fold. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are the "ninety and nine"; Dear are the sheep that have wandered Out in the desert to pine. Hark! He is earnestly calling, Tenderly pleading today: "Will you not seek for my lost ones, Off from my shelter astray?" Out in the desert they wander, Hungry and helpless and cold; Off to the rescue He hastens, Bringing them back to the fold.
1. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are the sheep of his fold; Dear is the love that he gives them, Dearer than silver or gold. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are his “other” lost sheep; Over the mountains he follows, Over the waters so deep. [Chorus] Out in the desert they wander, Hungry and helpless and cold; Off to the rescue he hastens, Bringing them back to the fold. 2. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are the lambs of his fold; Some from the pastures are straying, Hungry and helpless and cold. See, the Good Shepherd is seeking, Seeking the lambs that are lost, Bringing them in with rejoicing, Saved at such infinite cost. [Chorus] Out in the desert they wander, Hungry and helpless and cold; Off to the rescue he hastens, Bringing them back to the fold. 3. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd, Dear are the “ninety and nine”; Dear are the sheep that have wandered Out in the desert to pine. Hark! he is earnestly calling, Tenderly pleading today: “Will you not seek for my lost ones, Off from my shelter astray?” [Chorus] Out in the desert they wander, Hungry and helpless and cold; Off to the rescue he hastens, Bringing them back to the fold. 4. Green are the pastures inviting; Sweet are the waters and still. Lord, we will answer thee gladly, “Yes, blessed Master, we will! Make us thy true under-shepherds; Give us a love that is deep. Send us out into the desert, Seeking thy wandering sheep.” [Chorus] Out in the desert they wander, Hungry and helpless and cold; Off to the rescue we’ll hasten, Bringing them back to the fold.
I've been listening to LDS hymns in the background and not paying a lot of attention to any of them, but I sat up and took notice with this one! It is SO beautiful, it really captured my attention. I've always loved this song but never as much as right now. Thank you, guys!

I'm not to familiar with other religions, but these guys are from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We definitely do a lot of singing at church, and in choirs. If you're interested to learn more about us, you can go to lds.org which has a lot of information. And if you would like missionaries (basically people that teach about our church) to come and visit you in person, to answer questions and explain whatever you'd like to know, you can request them to come visit you at www.mormon.org/missionaries (it doesn't cost anything, just so you know).

What an inspiring music, these words are so powerful! The Spirit is strong when we listen to this.
1. Dear to the heart of the Shepherd,
Dear are the sheep of his fold;
Dear is the love that he gives them,
Dearer than silver or gold.
Dear to the heart of the Shepherd,
Dear are his “other” lost sheep;

Over the waters so deep.
[Chorus]
Out in the desert they wander,
Hungry and helpless and cold;
Off to the rescue he hastens,
Bringing them back to the fold.

Sweet are the waters and still.
Lord, we will answer thee gladly,
“Yes, blessed Master, we will!

@@churchofjesuschrist I get where you're going with your answer, but to be accurate, it's a men's choir comprising of members of institute in SLC.
They need to smile! Sometimes too much reverence kills the Spirit . The Holly Spirit supposed to move you .
Check for the meaning of the word reverence. Reverence leads to the Spirit, whether you are smiling or not.
