I also hear that the different noises are caused by the shape of the tunnel. The extension tunnels are circular while the rest are square. Other parts of the system have circular and square. I hear that it's the sound of the wind rushing past the train because it can't spread to the tunnel right beside it. Not sure if this is true though.
lol, ATC is hardly pointless. Helps them to run trains with less headway as they don't need to wait for the train in front to clear the next "block" to get a green light (the way signals currently run on the rest of line 1 and bloor/danforth). More frequency means more capacity.
This appears Zoomed in. YOU CANNOT FILM MOVING TRAINS WHILE ZOOMED. This causes the speed to appear to be the same across different levels, also, this speed is always slow. Zooming in is an amateur maneuver and any real train fan will cease and desist from doing that.
FINALLY FOUND A VIDEO FOR ONCE
is it me or does it sound different when riding on the extension lol
That sound you're hearing is the wind coming from the train running above the gutter.
I think it's actually because of the new rail. I read somewhere that small grooves on the surface of the new unworn rail are the cause of the sound.
Its the pointless ATC which maintains a certain speed and adjusts the speed limit to prevent derailment

Are there no signals?)
Yeah, where are the signal lights? Good Question, maybe City Trains can answer this please!
This section of the line is automatically controlled.
