I must admit that I enjoyed this video, Mr. Centeno. Even though I'm a college student, I wear a suit to class every day and haven't felt overdressed even though it would seem that way. In fact, I've become known for being the best dressed student on campus that whenever I don't wear a suit (ironically, today was one of those days simply because I was going to get a haircut after class and didn't want to get hair all over my suit) people are surprised. My personal opinion is that one can never be overdressed unless they're attending an event or gathering and they've been told that formal dress is unnecessary.
Sparta Strength I would say to stick to coats that are timeless and classy - this article should help: www.realmenrealstyle.com/mens-coats-visual-guide/
I like "Overdressing" whenever I go out. Most people out here ware jeans and a t-shirt or sometimes a button up shirt. That is about as dressy as it gets most times though. So when I show up wearing slacks and a sports coat I always get complements on my attire. Sometimes I get a few questions about why I am so dressed up to which I simply respond "Why not?" or "Because I can". Since I started doing it more regularly I have even noticed a few people that I see out around town regularly start to dress up a bit themselves. It makes me curious to see how much men may begin to step up their dress if they start to see it more regularly.
Glad to see this video. I only recently decided to start making a real effort to pay attention to the details and dress with "Real Style". Some of my friends have commented on it, talked about me with others or just asked me why I've dressed up for a simple night on the town. I tell them I like the way it feels to be well dressed and I have no problem being the best dressed man in the room. Big thanks for everything I've learned from you.
I wear well fitted shirt, dress slacks and FRESHLY POLISHED dress shoes everyday for school and I'm 19 years old. From the begining I was a little bit shy, but now I have the confidence to be the best dressed one in the class.
Hey. Perfect video for my situation right now. I'm a high school student. Every day I pretty much wear a sports jacket or a blazer every day. And I've had some passing comments about how I dress. But it's sort of became my image now as most over people wear a t-shirt and sweatpants. I don't really know what to do Thanks!
I'm in a similar situation in college. I don't see it as trying to dress better than everyone else. I see it as dressing at a higher standard than jeans and a t-shirt. I will never stop wearing my beloved sports coats and collared shirts. It doesn't seem like you're overdressing to me, so I personally wouldn't worry about it.
don't worry about it. You look good, feel good, and the girls will love it. Just do you and know that you're doing what you love. Screw everyone else, they just want to bring you down to their level as always.
I get this fairly often when I'm wearing a jacket or something. Someone says "What are you all dressed up for?" I look at them with a kind of deliberate incomprehension and say "I'm not."
+Real Men Real Style- I am a 17 year old man and I want to dress well but don't want to be over dressed when I go to hang out with friends at a party or out in public. I feel as though most of your videos are geared towards adult men rather than older teens. Any tips for how or what I could wear without being way too over dressed for my age?
Another great video, my compliments. I think that one way to look more professional is also paying attention to our posture, no matter what clothes we are wearing, actually dressing sharp helps a lot, with all the structure that is in a sport jacket, a suit, or those lines of a good shirt, well ironed. But that can be done for any clothes with the proper orientation of a physiotherapist or maybe a personal trainer. For those t-shirts/jeans/boot outfits and them is our body that will command our elegance. I say that a real gentleman must look sharp even in pajamas hahaha Our way of speaking, avoiding slangs an regionalisms also improves the "sharp dressed gentleman status" we want to build. Have a nice week everybody.
Great video Antonio... I think one of the best things I've learned from you is that being well dressed is NOT about feeling self conscious around others.... It's about how confident you feel about yourself when you wear nice, great fitting clothes that suit the occasion... Dress in a manner that makes you feel great and makes you stand just a little straighter than normal and put a bounce in your step.... Keep these interesting videos coming...
I don't dress up very often, but I really like the feeling I get when I do. That confidence of dressing up and actually being dressed up makes you literally the centre of attention when you're more dressed than people around you (at school). But I like to have purpose, like a presentation or an interview/proposal.
Superb advice, I really value your opinions and they help me to build a realistic perspective of my own. I have a question concerning male fragrance; When is it appropriate to wear fragrance? I've started to collect some beautiful fragrances from Tom Ford's Private blend but (as with clothing) I am get really self conscious of what my school colleagues or family might say. What's your opinion? Thanks, from Jason.
There is a difference between being the best dressed man in a room and being the most formally dressed man in a room. Nice video other than that, thanks
What if I just want to wear suits just because I like the look? I’m a mechanic so that has nothing to do with looking sharp. At least after work, is this too much? Or overdressing?
Antonio, Thank you for some great tips. But one style I feel that you never touches on is a pair of nice good-fitting jeans, a simple casual shirt and a V-neck sweater, Preferably wool. As a college student, this is my go-to style as dressing any more formal would just be out of place. Toughts?
Julian Foster Recommending brands is difficult as they change their quality standards/sizing information every season, however this article on dress shirt fit should help - www.realmenrealstyle.com/proper-dress-shirt-fit/
Great job as always Mr. Centeno. Glad to see you are almost at 200k subs, I remember when your channel had just started, glad to see it grow into this amazing thing you have. Keep it up and may you hit your first million subs soon!
If you guys are looking for a more casual but still nice look go see Alpha.M channel, he's a little more into casual-formal stuff than just formal. Still I love Real Men Real Style but whenever i'm looking for a more casual look I go see what Alpha.M has.
So I'm a Senior high school student and I like to go dress up nice to school. So people say I try to hard with my style. I tend to wear a lot of polo shirts and button downs all time. I hardly ever wear t shirts and I usally wear cowboys or sperry boat shoes everyday. I like to sometimes tuck my shirts in too even my polos if they're long on the waist but is all that overdressing?
hi Antonio loving these videos really helpful ,my son is having his British army pass out parade in a few weeks ive gone for sports jacket shirt, tie and chinos or should i go for a suit ,by the way i feel so good in the sports jacket than a suit, want to look sharp but not too much, feel i want to show my son how proud i am of him by making an extra effort
This was a concern of mine. I am an elementary teacher and when I started dressing better, I got a lot of positive attention but also some negative. A couple of people had to pull me to the side and ask me why I was wearing a tie and that I shouldn't do that.
Hello Antonio, I am a high school teenager who is about to attend the Prom Night event. However, the event will be held in somewhere less formal, similar to a leisure clubhouse. Is it okay if I wear a suit, and are pocket squares fine?
Personally, I am more concerned if a Three-Piece Suit would be too overwhelming for the event, or if details such as Pocket Squares and Lapel Pins would be in a case too overdressed?
Antonio - Suppose I'm going to spend an afternoon (going to the movies, etc) with this friend (it's a girl). We're both 19 years old. Would you recommend me to wear a sports suit (like with a simple t-shirt underneath it or a tucked/untucked dress shirt? Thanks!
Yes, you CAN overdress for an event or situation. Recently had that experience. i was looking to rent a new place, and had an interview with a landlord. In my zeal to make the best impression, I put on a tan-colored full three-piece linen summer suit, complete with pocket-square, boutonniere, and Panama hat.I was sharp as hell, but it was just too much. I looked like I was headed to the Kentucky Derby rather than a housing interview. Also it was a blatant fail from a function aspect. This was a very hot summer day, and regardless of the linen I looked hot and uncomfortable even though i wasn't. The landlord felt upstaged, was a bit put-off by a man in a full suit on a 96 degree humid day, and intimidated which was all very apparent from the compliments and looks. It was a very uncomfortable interview, and I didn't get the place. I should have just went with khakis, dress shirt with no tie and maybe the waistcoat. Or even jeans, open throat dress shirt and light linen blazer and my summer straw fedora. Much more dress casual, weather functional and appropriate to the situation. That's what i wore to the next interview and I had a great interview and got the place. So you really do have to give serious forethought to how you should dress appropriate but still stylish for every occasion.
I am considering buying a blazer to wear to high school along with Lee Modern Series jeans and dress shirts. Any thoughts would be appreciated! My school has no prevalent trends or traditions, everyone just does whatever. Varies between pajamas and hoodies with no shoes to really goth-looking outfits.
Went on a first date the other day - coffee followed by dinner in a reasonably nice, but not 'fancy' restaurant. I wore a nice tweed sport coat with a dress shirt, jeans and a good pair of semi-casual boots. Nice, but not stuffy. She rocked up having obviously made far less effort and long story short, I didn't get a second date. I have a feeling she felt I was over-dressed, which probably didn't help me. Oh well. Do you reckon I dressed about right for the situation, or should go a notch down? Dressing for dates, especially first ones, is always super-stressful.
British county style is a great way to look sharp without ever looking out of place in a rural setting. Barbour field jacket and a cashmere turtleneck, with some cords or chinos for instance
I think a good skill is being able to vary the formality of whatever clothes you have. Jeans can be dressed up withn a jacket (assuming you have the shirt and shoes for it) while a dress shirt can be dressed down by removing the tie and maybe rolling up the sleeves, and neither of those require you to change into another set of clothes.
Even though I know it's a speaking technique, my arms get so tired just watching yours because you never put them down, haha! But great videos, love them all!
I'm in a similar situation to the lawyer who might meet his clients anywhere. I want to start my own ministry, independent of any church. This is why I wear a tie to anything church related or event for Christians. I'm always representing the work I do.
Hey! Love the videos I've seen a couple, and I wanted to ask you would it be appropriate to dress up nice in say a high school? I ask this because I'm a high schooler, thanks Can't wait to see more videos!
would have liked to see some tangible examples for more common situations than job interviews, like hanging out/going out with friends, going for dinner or on a date.
I like being one of the better dressed guys in the room within reason (maybe a vest or tie in a night club), but being in a totally different ball park can make someone seem stiff or out of touch.
I am in the Horticulture field and that requires me to me out in the dirt a lot where a suit and dress shoes are not appropriate. What would you recommend for situations like that, but you still want to look good.
I too have just begun to dress more "Real Style" or that of AlohaM, and confidence is a problem for me. I am what I consider to be universally considered as ugly, not that I am being down on myself, it's just the simple truth. So, sometimes I find it 100% pointless to dress well to an event, party.... How do I deal with that?? I mean, if the point is to look well and presentable, and perhaps attract someone's attention, what is the point to do that if I am not attractive to begin with?
I am so fed up with "why should I dress?" If men would dress up for corporate or better restaurants, we could put over a million jobs back in the US. Think how many clothing manufacturers had to close, their reps, sales people and office staff. But I guess as long as the dress down bums have a pay check, everything is great. What a simple way to put America back to work without reinventing the wheel.
You are right: The confidence problem is the key. If you start to improve your level of dress you might feel strange at the beginning. But soon you will get used to it like you get used to wear an uniform if you join the military. For example if you wear a suit, shirt and tie every day at college you won't feel uncomfortable in this kind of clothes when you have to wear it for a verbal exam or a job interview. It doesn't hurt if you are the only man wearing a tie in a certain situation. Like it doesn't hurt to be the only one wearing uniform. Be proud of your civilian clothes, too, and treat them in the same way you would treat your uniform. You might even help other men who don't dare to dress better by being a role model for them. Some men really don't care how they look. But others are just afraid to admit that they care because they think they are being judged as unmanly or vain. Today many men are underdressed just because they don't DARE to dress a little bit more formal. And that's sad. Especially because today's more formal clothes are the most comfy ever.
Hi Antonio, great video as always, but i still have some personal questions. I'm a high-schooler right now, a sophomore to be more specific. I commonly dress casually, to what in my opinion is dressed up for a high-schooler's standards. The most dressed up I've gone is a dark navy blue Cardigan, a white dress shirt, a maroon tie, and a pair of white Chinos; but is this overdressed? Maybe i should tone it down a bit, or maybe even up my arsenal with a sports jacket? I'd like to hear your opinion; i believe it's just about right, because i have to present myself to hundreds of people, and my teachers who determine my performance in class. Thanks for your time, Dylan (P.S. Please get back to me as soon as it's convenient for you)
Experiment - record what you observe and experiment. EVERY situation is different, and you have to discover your style for yourself. The good news is you can make it whatever you want it to be!
this is exactly what i needed. Im going to a triathalon team christmas party this friday. So we are used to skin tight minimal swimsuits running in sweat and being dirty. But its at one of the members house which I know is in a million dollar plus neighborhood. So im kinda lost but feeling the jeans with nice shirt but I dont think the type of shirt was covered well in the jean video
I go to a church where people my age don't dress up. I don't like being the best dressed guy in the room when no one else is trying. If you were at winter formal or a wedding and you were the best dressed guy then THAT is awesome.
If you don't feel it's right for you personally to dress up then that's fine. You can still be the best dressed guy in the room wearing casual clothes if the fit is right and the colours and textures compliment each other. But Antonio's second point about confidence is key here. After a while you get to the stage where you dress for yourself rather than for others.
bonus tip, #6 : if you're a student and your style from that age is suit, and you look out of place but you still wanna look sharp best way is to wear a vest, shirt and an ascot, or open 2 buttons and no ascot, then a suit pants and dress shoes, i think it looks great, and since i did that i didn't feel out of place because in my school, nobody wears suits and everyone wear simply shirts and dark blue trousers, what i did was add a vest to that so i look sharp, but i don't look out of place with a suit jacket. so if you're a student sharp dresser go for this look, it looks a little sportish, but also sharp, the reason you dont look out of place is that you roll up the sleeves, that makes you look good specially if you work out and have muscular hands and if you don't, you still will be looking good, not too out of place and not too casual, though school is where you dress casual or as the uniform but if they let you wear something on top of that and you want to impress your friends and your teacher and don't look too overdressed at the point that you look funny to them, best way is to throw a vest in there, vests are good looking in hot sunny days, that you prefer something on your shirt, though ascots make you feel more hot but at this point what you care about is looking sharp, my uniform as i said is around dark blue / dark navy, so what i did was wear the white shirt of our school but wear my own trousers that look close to the color of the school's uniform trousers, but also matches my vest, and my ascot was the same color as my vest and trousers, now you might think that's too much navy color, well then feel free to add a color that looks good with dark navy and white, or is your school uniform different? you can always play with it and try to make a great color out of it, dont have a color that matches your school's? you can play with the colors.
I would love to see a video/series of tips on how to dress for everyday/school or just hanging out with mates. Tips on more casual clothing would be nice. Love your videos, keep it up!
Very important subject, Antonio. Ok, if you're a lawyer or going to an interview - it's a simple question, totally okay to wear a suit, you're not going to look overdressed. But I'm 24, working in IT, guys around me in their twenties, wear washed jeans and t-shirts, so wearing even a jeans + sports jacket would be an overdressing here. I wear dark solid jeans and oxford tucked-in shirt or shirts like you're wearing here and still fill a bit overdressed and being joked about as a snob. And I don't think it's a confidence issue. I would be a white crow wearing sports jacket anyway. Yes, I can be confident like "I don't give an F about what you're thinking", but still would look ridiculous and overdressed. Another thing outside of work, meeting with friends at bar or somewhere, playing poker, shopping, being in casual environment - same jeans and t-shirts around, no suits. All I'm saying, for guys like me it's really hard to follow your advices about sports jackets and all and not being overdressed :) I want to share a casual alternative I found for sports jacket - solid coloured cardigan. You look dressed down, but still sharp. One minus - kind of "grand dad look" association :) But other than that I don't know how to squeeze sports jackets and suits in my wardrobe. To wear a suit I have to change environment or occupation, that's it. Shame, because I have an awesome suit and wear it couple times a year to philharmonic or on similar occasions.
Sounds to me like the guys around you are lacking in style, rather than you being overdressed. I mean if wearing dark jeans and a shirt is being overdressed, then something is really wrong. Like Antonio said, be confident and don't be afraid to be the most stylish person there. I have friends who wear sports jackets and smart shoes on their "casual" days, along with a nice jumper or shirt. I have other friends who wear washed jeans and t-shirts pretty much every day. Without any real difference in education or training, guess which friends are the ones who are taken more seriously and gone further with their careers? (hint: it's not the t-shirt wearing guys) ;)
People’s expectations determine how well dressed you are but even the business suit is still an informal dress option. I’d opt for a sport coat and trousers maybe a tie. It could work in most situations and is still casual. You could wear a navy Jacket white shirt and grey bottoms with black Oxford shoes and as long as you wore a black tie you still wouldn’t look out of place if you had to go to a funeral. Leave sports wear for when you are in the gym.
There were only two times in my life where I swore I thought I was dress down appropriately for the occasion and was still told I was still over dressed!
Now, what's the true downside to being overdressed? That you make your boss look like a chump for being a slob; ok, that could be a problem, but so is his middling self-confidence. So, Halloween has passed, along with the pass men felt that gave them to try new fashion ideas. But that doesn't mean a man shouldn't aspire to make choices, take chances and leave a memorable impression! If he's overdressed, well... Check out my video commentary: bit.ly/1s0KYFG
Your first question: "is this really a problem?" I have worked in the tech industry for the last 20 years. Back when I was at Microsoft, while I never explicitly "no-hired" someone for wearing a suit to an interview, it was definitely a significant checkmark against someone-- not because they were overdressed, but because it demonstrated they hadn't researched the company very well. In tech, dressing more than one step above your peers is a significant misstep. Slacks and a button down when everyone else is wearing khakis and jeans with a polo? No problem. However, a sport coat or (heaven forbid) a suit will often result in people not taking you seriously.
What you're forgetting about is the younger audience. I'm currently in high school where most people will just walk around in a T-shirt with jeans or sweatpants. Will I certainly agree that stepping it up a notch is a good idea you'd look very out of place wearing sports jackets and the likes every day.
Last time I was overdressed was at an exposition of a friend of mine who assed away... people were so casual it felt really weird... It was even more than casual, some were wearing tank tops, I mean come on.
1:35 - 1:45; 'noone's ever asked me ... "you need to dress down"'. That's a statement, not a question. Maybe we should be move up to soliloquising on clothing only after having grasped at least the basics of natural language.
I apparently had this issue yet it was not that i was overdressed it was the fact that they were MENTALLY and PHYSICALLY underdressed! 99% of the time you will catch me wearing a tank top and blue dickies.
This is the least useful video on the channel ever. As Condoleezza Rice said, "When you are overdressed, it's a comment on them, when you're underdressed, it is a comment on you." I stand by that everyday. And as Oscar Wilde said, "You can never be overdressed or over-educated."
It is hilarious to me that dressing nice people asked me so many times a day are you going to a funeral I just say no I’m not a teenager anymore so I have to dress my age and also I am the boss of my company I should dress the part A hooded sweatshirt and a baseball hat is just not working anymore

Did i ever superglu you to the toilet bowl ?
(Only joking mate) 😉
Some might think dressing this way as pretentious, uptight, or unnecessary and it takes true confidence to oppose this common pessimism. Respect.

Exactly! Dress formal; answer casual. Works like a charm.
Your "Why not?" or "Because I can" are definitely keepers.

Tuck Tummy Thank you! :)
Solid information, good quality, great content. Thanks for tips!
is this shirt legal?
Why it could be illegal?
David Elliott Claveau Sometimes it just is.
Great advice in the end!
Aaron C Thanks :)
Great video as usual. I was just wondering if you could make a video with tips for what to wear with pea coats.
Patrich Co Thanks for your new topic suggestion. I'll make sure to add this to the queue.
Love your channel and how you often take time out to interact with the peeps in the comment section :) long time fan
Dominic Greenwood awesome - love reading comments like this
If you guys are looking for a more casual but still nice look go see Alpha.M channel, he's a little more into casual-formal stuff than just formal. Still I love Real Men Real Style but whenever i'm looking for a more casual look I go see what Alpha.M has.
+Kueedos Agreed! He's my good friend too :)
+Kueedos Another one of my favourite channels.
So I'm a Senior high school student and I like to go dress up nice to school. So people say I try to hard with my style. I tend to wear a lot of polo shirts and button downs all time. I hardly ever wear t shirts and I usally wear cowboys or sperry boat shoes everyday. I like to sometimes tuck my shirts in too even my polos if they're long on the waist but is all that overdressing?
hi Antonio loving these videos really helpful ,my son is having his British army pass out parade in a few weeks ive gone for sports jacket shirt, tie and chinos or should i go for a suit ,by the way i feel so good in the sports jacket than a suit, want to look sharp but not too much, feel i want to show my son how proud i am of him by making an extra effort
as always sir... very helpful. Thank you very much!
Bryan Brando Bolondro You're welcome!
Like a lot the new ending screen! Goes very well with the overall presentation, very sharp indeed.
Raul Huerta Thanks - will pass that onto my video guy!
This was a concern of mine. I am an elementary teacher and when I started dressing better, I got a lot of positive attention but also some negative. A couple of people had to pull me to the side and ask me why I was wearing a tie and that I shouldn't do that.
+Daniel Hensley never let anybody dictate what you should wear :)
Wow, thank you for replying. I have never had a reply from the person that I am subscribed to. That means alot. Thanks.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO, IT IS A GREAT ONE
spino wany You're welcome! :)
Hello Antonio,
I am a high school teenager who is about to attend the Prom Night event.
FTWTaylorSwift great to hear from you! This is a detailed article on prom attire and accessories: www.realmenrealstyle.com/how-to-dress-for-prom/
I love fall because I can always rock my sport jacket, sweater, jeans, and boots
+huntardgrappler Me too! Layering is the best part of this season.
Antonio -
Suppose I'm going to spend an afternoon (going to the movies, etc) with this friend (it's a girl). We're both 19 years old. Would you recommend me to wear a sports suit (like with a simple t-shirt underneath it or a tucked/untucked dress shirt?
Thanks!

Xfusion201 awesome - thank you!
This channel is amazing.
Ezio Auditore Thanks - a lot of that has to do with the people supporting it like you!
Varies between pajamas and hoodies with no shoes to really goth-looking outfits.
highschooler here, how did that work out?
EliteRowmaster didn't do it
Went on a first date the other day - coffee followed by dinner in a reasonably nice, but not 'fancy' restaurant.
Dressing for dates, especially first ones, is always super-stressful.

omg the picture of the suit fit is the best lol damn baggy suit thats a no go area
British county style is a great way to look sharp without ever looking out of place in a rural setting. Barbour field jacket and a cashmere turtleneck, with some cords or chinos for instance
I think a good skill is being able to vary the formality of whatever clothes you have. Jeans can be dressed up withn a jacket (assuming you have the shirt and shoes for it) while a dress shirt can be dressed down by removing the tie and maybe rolling up the sleeves, and neither of those require you to change into another set of clothes.
ghostbirdofprey exactly!
Even though I know it's a speaking technique, my arms get so tired just watching yours because you never put them down, haha! But great videos, love them all!
stillnotfamous Haha! Okay!
Thx for the tips. I like how u speak :D It makes people understand better :D
Abdullah Shabir Thanks :)
great video !!!
Jerome King Thanks! :)
The first 1:10 won me over. This is my new favorite channel.
I'm in a similar situation to the lawyer who might meet his clients anywhere. I want to start my own ministry, independent of any church. This is why I wear a tie to anything church related or event for Christians. I'm always representing the work I do.
"Don't wear anything that's dated" I love vintage blazers and jackets :D I'm always dressed well!
Hey! Love the videos I've seen a couple, and I wanted to ask you would it be appropriate to dress up nice in say a high school? I ask this because I'm a high schooler, thanks Can't wait to see more videos!
thepudding king yes - www.realmenrealstyle.com/dress-casual-dress-sharp/
New shirt!
JosephGallagher Yes! :)
would have liked to see some tangible examples for more common situations than job interviews, like hanging out/going out with friends, going for dinner or on a date.
I like being one of the better dressed guys in the room within reason (maybe a vest or tie in a night club), but being in a totally different ball park can make someone seem stiff or out of touch.
Michael G Yep! :)
I am in the Horticulture field and that requires me to me out in the dirt a lot where a suit and dress shoes are not appropriate. What would you recommend for situations like that, but you still want to look good.
melodieustv great to hear from you - this should help: www.realmenrealstyle.com/blue-collar-worker-attire/
Hey ...
Clever hand positioning ✌🏻️
I enjoy looking sharp and I take pride in my appearance and grooming.
Is this tuco from braking bad??
William Mosezar That's a thought!
Thanks for your time,
Dylan
(P.S. Please get back to me as soon as it's convenient for you)
Experiment - record what you observe and experiment. EVERY situation is different, and you have to discover your style for yourself. The good news is you can make it whatever you want it to be!
Real Men Real Style That's probably the best plan of action, i'll give it a try. Thanks for your help, I'll be looking forward to your future videos.
this is exactly what i needed. Im going to a triathalon team christmas party this friday. So we are used to skin tight minimal swimsuits running in sweat and being dirty. But its at one of the members house which I know is in a million dollar plus neighborhood. So im kinda lost but feeling the jeans with nice shirt but I dont think the type of shirt was covered well in the jean video
jrunner5k Thanks!
See Antonio has a new video, automatically click 'like' before I view..
whitestar6529 Thanks :)
After a while you get to the stage where you dress for yourself rather than for others.
bonus tip, #6 :
if you're a student and your style from that age is suit, and you look out of place but you still wanna look sharp best way is to wear a vest, shirt and an ascot, or open 2 buttons and no ascot, then a suit pants and dress shoes, i think it looks great, and since i did that i didn't feel out of place because in my school, nobody wears suits and everyone wear simply shirts and dark blue trousers, what i did was add a vest to that so i look sharp, but i don't look out of place with a suit jacket. so if you're a student sharp dresser go for this look, it looks a little sportish, but also sharp, the reason you dont look out of place is that you roll up the sleeves, that makes you look good specially if you work out and have muscular hands and if you don't, you still will be looking good, not too out of place and not too casual, though school is where you dress casual or as the uniform but if they let you wear something on top of that and you want to impress your friends and your teacher and don't look too overdressed at the point that you look funny to them, best way is to throw a vest in there, vests are good looking in hot sunny days, that you prefer something on your shirt, though ascots make you feel more hot but at this point what you care about is looking sharp, my uniform as i said is around dark blue / dark navy, so what i did was wear the white shirt of our school but wear my own trousers that look close to the color of the school's uniform trousers, but also matches my vest, and my ascot was the same color as my vest and trousers, now you might think that's too much navy color, well then feel free to add a color that looks good with dark navy and white, or is your school uniform different? you can always play with it and try to make a great color out of it, dont have a color that matches your school's? you can play with the colors.
i wear a waistcoat winchester shirt and a tie and i dont give a flying fuck what clowns on the street think of me!
I would love to see a video/series of tips on how to dress for everyday/school or just hanging out with mates. Tips on more casual clothing would be nice.
Love your videos, keep it up!
jim phillips We're working on more casual info sir - piece by piece we're getting it out :)
speed 1.25 makes it better
Thanks for the video :) But what do you think about wearing sport jackets and coats whit shirt at school? I'm 16 years old :)
Gondorfi1 It could be a little too much for school but dressing sharp but casual shoul do www.realmenrealstyle.com/young-man-style-advice-5-steps/ .
Get in shape and dress for your body size. You automatically look better in your clothes.
All I'm saying, for guys like me it's really hard to follow your advices about sports jackets and all and not being overdressed :)
I want to share a casual alternative I found for sports jacket - solid coloured cardigan.
***** Interesting! :)
Your kids are so cute! I guess it's no surprise since the father is pretty handsome himself.
americanlove10 Well thank you!
+Damascus Steele I hope this article helps!
Huh? You can never be over dressed
In my opinion, you can never be overdressed unless you're wearing full evening attire before 6:00 pm.
Your first question: "is this really a problem?"
I have worked in the tech industry for the last 20 years.
Joseph Jones That's odd. :)
I don't agree with it (I prefer being a bit more dressed up than my colleagues) but it's reality.
Is it a problem?
+Wouter De Wolf Might be another issue if you feel overdressed. Here's my take on it: www.realmenrealstyle.com/overdressed/
Overdressed isnt a word I keep in my vocabulary. The dressier the better I say.
What you're forgetting about is the younger audience. I'm currently in high school where most people will just walk around in a T-shirt with jeans or sweatpants. Will I certainly agree that stepping it up a notch is a good idea you'd look very out of place wearing sports jackets and the likes every day.
***** Not forgetting about you - read the articles as I cover a few small details you can pay attention to even with jeans and a shirt!
Last time I was overdressed was at an exposition of a friend of mine who assed away... people were so casual it felt really weird... It was even more than casual, some were wearing tank tops, I mean come on.
just magic things it's better to be overdressed than underdressed
1:35 - 1:45; 'noone's ever asked me ... "you need to dress down"'. That's a statement, not a question.
Maybe we should be move up to soliloquising on clothing only after having grasped at least the basics of natural language.
Wow! You're so cool because you insult others based on their grammar!
I was actually expecting him to ask to subscribe.
Agree because the last thing I would want to do is go to the bar and be wearing a three piece and burning up while wearing it
Brian Roberson Did I talk about that? Hmmm?
I apparently had this issue yet it was not that i was overdressed it was the fact that they were MENTALLY and PHYSICALLY underdressed! 99% of the time you will catch me wearing a tank top and blue dickies.
I’m the guy with the self steel issues. I used to dress nice but I felt inappropriate and out of touch with reality so I even stopped grooming
This is the least useful video on the channel ever.
As Condoleezza Rice said, "When you are overdressed, it's a comment on them, when you're underdressed, it is a comment on you."
I stand by that everyday.
Saw a guy wearing a nice 3-piece tweed suit at the playground today. It looked dumb
You have beautiful kids!
Brian Liu Thank you - appreciate it!
