Haven't listened to this gem in like 15 years.
same!
Old "very good" School Linkin Park
Same! I was just going to check out 1 song, now I am listening to them all, cant wait for my december to follow...
Same here, so bad ass tho
same here, and it's still epic.
“Who can rock a rhyme like this?” Only Shinoda and LP can.
f**k yea!
Yit yit, Get lit!
Step Step up up step up 💪
And the short lived Fort Minor

Whenever Mike sings " Who can rock a rhyme like this?" , I hear crowds singing "LIKE THIS"

Underrated song that lots of fans don't know about
you mean fans like me whoi find this track in 2022?
Before the official release for the 20th anniversary, only real OGs knew about this song and other hidden gems from the band’s earliest incarnations
Ikr? Remember lookin this up on Napster and Windows Media Player!
@@NickTasy they released this song under the band name Hybrid Theory EP
Linkin park demo's are gems, they're missing out fr
2:12 gives me chills every time, love Chester's vocals in this
I love Chester's voice in this song too, it's so magical and comforting, in a way
It's haunting
The voice feels like it has melted in the instrumental, like how can a vocal match so perfectly? 🤩
Chester is overrated.
@@tiojoao5415 you're legit the first person I heard say that and I happily disagree
Now THIS is REAL HIP-HOP!!
Yes
It's arguable that this song is Hip Hop but the group is most definitely rock. Shinoda is a talented rapper/hip-hopper though.
@Constantine Q yea I know what they are lol. And yup he is, his 2nd verse on when they come for me showcases that.
@@constantineq643 No, their sound was primarily hip hop, until the recording hiatus they went on after Meteora. In the same way that rapping over rock doesn't make something hip hop, playing guitar over hip hop doesn't make it rock.
It's intriguing how many good songs Linkin Park scrapped to make the masterpiece that is *HYBRID THEORY*
I would say it more of a case of doing a trial-and-error approach at the making of their music, in which their guiding themselves throughout the same genre and tone, but attempting different types of lyrics and songs, and chose the ones that are more fitting into the final product and giving them cohesion. It's all about cohesion
Only shows how much work they put into it. They tried out so much and probably tried to better the tracks every time until they were satisfied with the result.
This wasn't scrapped though. It was on the hybrid theory ep
One word: profitability
The original rap to In The End was a lot better than the current one
Happy 45th Birthday Chester ❤️🥺

After all these years I still haven't found someone who can rock a rhyme like this

Keep in mind these were around like 20yrs ago on Hybrid Theory EP; not in this high a quality mind you, but they were around. I remember burning all these to a CD in junior high and playing it in my discman everyday
Yes we got it, and most important is. Theres no one that dissapointing
Never heard those before, I have a Hybrid theory album that a friend shared with me, but there isn't any of the songs you've mentioned. Can someone explain that to me?
@@danielrodrigoalegriasallo6479 they were previously unreleased Linkin Park underground songs! They're all out now

Yeah me too
Anytime I hear “it all came rushing back” it was usually not good so thanks for making this comment happy
same!!!!!
This is pure Shinoda magic !
Even the songs that didnt made it into the "official" Hybrid Theory album are 10000+ times better than todays music.
It's true
Linkin Park is more than a band, it's the pinnacle of music and art. I can not imagine a world without their talent. Love you Chester
'Step Up' sounds amazing!! I love the min 2:11 when Chester comes with a clean vocals and do it like ambiental. Mike's vocals rapping style sounds soooo dope!!!! All the instrumental and beats are sick too!!! Love it!
@@AlfonsoDGOfficial no, Mike is better.
i noticed that too, its kinda creepy cause hes gone, and it just kinda idk, ik he was alive when this was madebut its just spooky
@@tiojoao5415 it wouldve been cool if he like screamed like a couple lyrics for mike like in concert papercut
"Using the waves of sound the true master paralyzes his opponents, leaving him vulnerable to attack" Hahaha what a badass, love it :D
2.30 After years of painstaking research by the Worlds leading sound scientists we here at the Sound Institute have invented a reliable audio weapons system, actual movement of musical sound in space can be used to carefully attack and neutralise the cellular structure of the human body, the question must be asked Who can rock a rime like this?
This song is kind of definition of hybrid theory and LP itself
mike is on fireeee... havent heard of this for years man. nostalgia..
" I heard that some of you are getting help with your rhymes
You're not an MC if someone else writes your lines
Rapping over rock doesn't make you a pioneer
Cause rock and hip-hop have collaborated for years "

This almost has to be about Limp Bizkit IMHO. with the line about having a DJ for crediblity.
@@CrazeeAdam Or Crazytown... Or any band back then who did Nu Metal with a DJ...
@@optimusprowse6448 Lol so true. All the bands trying to rap to rock, but LP knew how to make it their own.
They’re one of the few bands who can actually rap with rock/metal besides Slipknot and Falling In Reverse. They all somehow know how to make it good.
Anyone else wondering how Joe reacted when he first heard the lyric "and a DJ in the group just for credibility"?
This was written when Linkin Park first started out and it was a dig at similar bands that tried to cash in on their success, because some of the other Labels were searching for the next 'Linkin Park'
@@kevnwarriner8819 this song was made before Hybrid Theory was released, so no one knew who they were and no one was trying to mimicking them yet.

Can you imagine the level of music they were composing at that time. They didn’t have anything or anyone to copy or so called Inspire. They are just real gems 💎
MIKE SHINODA IS THE BEST IN THE GAME! his raps to me is what rap is supposed to be not about bitches and drugs but lyrical mayhem and flow
Timmy shinoda
Instrumental is gold. Many artist, producer nowaday, why they cant create things like this?
most of them are either sellouts or untalented ( mainstream ones )
Because it’s easier to just do what everyone else does which is make the simplest and easiest backing track possible. No thought or creativity put into it, and it works because people will still listen to it!
A.I. is a part of it. Another part is that it’s always Pop, today.
I suppose having a generic beat makes it easier for people to accept the song as it would sound like everything else they've already heard. If it's something extremely unique and unfamiliar, a lot of people might not even give it a try. Another thing about bland sounding music is that you can play it anywhere, because it really doesn't stand out in a negative way, it's just noise.
This song is dedicated to all those lil' crap rappers of today
so what do you listen mostly? public radio, ye?
you must be fucking amazing persona, fr
people overrate linkin parks rapping, Mike’s not bad but nowhere near the best
@@gbrl433 Mike is actually very underrated.

This sounds either mysterious/dark, what a gem
HT and Meteora are two of the greatest albums ever released.

@@differentangle7666 not really. I found everything after living things to be underwhelming.
WHO CAN ROCK A RHYME LIKE THIS?!
I remember chanting the chorus of the song for my high school football game. However, I replaced the word “rhyme” with “game”, thus saying, “Who can rock the game like this?” since it’s a sports event. This song influenced me a lot for this not only because of Shinoda, but to have a true meaning of perseverance.
Боже, я забыла, насколько эта песня бомбезная🔥
And people say Shinoda ain't a rapper. 😑

Love this tune. Will never forget what an influence this band had on me as a kid. I used to print off their pictures and lyrics after downloading just a couple of songs from audiogalaxy, then immediately went to record shops here constantly asking if the album was out yet, and nobody had bloody heard of them (yet!). They got me through some tough times; I'll always be grateful for these lads. RIP Chester.

*Screaming animal noises*
This song is like a hidden gem preserved for hard core LP fans and its unpopularity makes it more likeable.

One of my favourite tracks ever! Right there with Not Alone, My December and Part of me
Part of me is a classic 🔥
Chester’s vocals…god they’re so ethereal
this is definitely the seeds of Fort Minor & Post Traumatic
Songs like this made my childhood happy and helps me push through present days
A true master paralyzes his opponent, leaving them vulnerable to attack
Mike dismantled every artist today back in the late 90's, yo 🔥
Nice, very nice rap. But look at the instrumentals!! MISTEEEERRR HAAAAAAAAHHNNNNNN

2:33 what the narrator said is true facts about the audio weapon system. LP music isnt just for entertainment. They telling/sending us the message. About the wave which may carefully attack our brain n cell system without our notice.
proud to say i discovered them as Hybrid theory during napster days... man i'm old.
This one should be a hit!
Finally I can legally listen to this song
I just discovered this song yesterday and I’m obsessed
This song slaps🔥🔥Mike's verse got me goosebumps
Even he raps better than nowadays rappers
I knew this from the LP Underground 1.0
I first heard LP at the radio it was Somewhere I Belong. Man, Chester's voice was the 'call' of my life.
Shinoda's gone on record saying that this song was specifically referring to Kid Rock.
He's not wrong.
Who else he's referring to?
Mike Shinoda é um Rapper talentoso, houve uma época que eu sabia essa música de co.
Rip for Chester Bennington 🙏🔥
Once I thought Eminem is the best rapper, but then I started listening to Linkin Park
Mike Shinoda 😀💫
Check-in : 15 Sep 2023.
I'm still rocking this 🤘
LP still holds a very special place in my mind/soul
more so than any other band period
Every member of Linkin Park is important. Love them all 🖤
Yessss!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I cannot comprehend that this song is nearly 25 years old. Linkin Park was so ahead of their time.
Ahh yes, linkin park and spongebob, what a masterpiece
Давно не слышал этот трек. Но припев вспомнился сразу)))
Finally, officially released!
That tribute to the carousel EP Art in the background says so much about the bands story before hybrid theory and how they maintained the B Side vibe even after going big.
The most sharpness performance of Mike I loved, that bars, that's skills, DAMN! 👌
If I ever met Mike, I will ask him right away, WHO CAN ROCK A RHYME LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!! hahhaha!

I've been listening to this for the past 20 years, and it's never aged. One the best LP songs to not end up on a studio album.

Best one yet
Their artwork is amazinnnggg

"Get smacked with Verbal back flips" 😭 man this guy is a monster😆
The fact I only first listened to this song this year is crazy. Only heard it because I was watching some of Mike’s post traumatic tour.

Linkin Park: Hold my demos
This wasn't a demo... This was released, however the EP (Hybrid Theory EP) is incredibly rare and afaik it was only released on cassette.
This is the most complete version of Rap and Rock out there.
each text of the Step up actually gives something to me to put changes towards anything that im doing more better so positive .thnkx LP
Oh man, I used to listen to this song ALL the time. LOVE IT!
It's 2020, Who can still rock a rhyme like this?
Oh damn, I sitting here singing along and I still remember the words to this
The synth sounds in the verses sound like something straight out of Wall-E haha. I like it.
The quality is insane
The first time I listened to this song was in 2002, live version, when LP played in Mexico City with Static-X and KoRn...man those were the days!!
Jesus I still remember all lyrics and I have not heard this song in years... Love it
Como eu amo essa musica ^^
I discovered High Voltage, Dedicated, and Step Up while I was drowning and suffocating in the racist, anti-black, colorist space of Singapura where I was sexually abused at age 9 and continued to be traumatized until dehumanization by age 12. I have never been an LPU member, these songs were shared with me by kind friends on the Linkin Park Message Board.
I have remained in my dehumanized state since 2000, through 2005 when I migrated to Canada, and until my independently implemented re-humanization & (re)education in 2022. I went through complete ostracization & total isolation to arrive at my significant victory. All I had with me as my guides were the Buddhadhamma & nature. All I had to nourish me was a single drop of love.
I take all of your suffering, past, present & future. I give to you all of my joy & happiness.
💙💛❤🤍🧡
20 years and still one of my favourite upbeat songs.
this song is on FIRE. True LP vibes.
Some legendary rappers didn’t write their own lyrics like Eazy E. But it’s obviously much more impressive if you do
