I started on the guitar at the age of ten - after seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan. Spent many hours trying to figure out the Beatle chords, and never getting it right. No internet, of course. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your lessons, or just listening to you play!
Absolutely fantastic rendition Mike. You've done this gorgeous song justice.... you're a great teacher and I love the history you add to the lesson..., cheers mate.
Just love to watch your fingers move on the guitar neck. It looks like perfection in motion to me, not to mention the picking that your right hand fingers are doing.
I love your tutorials..very fulfilling and comprehensive. I have to learn this song even with your embellishments. Thank you for your post greatly appreciated..
@@MPfrance No thank you Mike its talented guys like you who teach so brilliantly that allows people like me to get so much pleasure from playing these great songs correctly. I played in a covers band in the 1970's and had to listen to vinyl to learn, it was one hell of a struggle but now we have guys like you. Thank you again I'm subscribing today.
Once again you have inspired me to learn yet another brilliant John Lennon composition via the Mike P. School of brilliant teachings. Thanks Mike 😁🎸. From David in Perth West Australia
Mike, I love that far-away look you get when you’re listening to the guitar. My niece gets it too. It’s The Muses taking over, I think. Thanks for sharing.
Wow Mike and you went right into doing the song and did it perfectly in one take. I'm going to learn that. Very excellent version. You make the most entertaining lessons. Thanks !!
You make it so easy to follow, the 1st song I learned from you was "I Feel Fine." Thank you for existing. Seriously. Especially at a time when I am feeling uninspired, you make me want to grab my guitar and tune in to your videos.
Hey Thanks for posting Mike. I was watching a video that had the midi for "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" playing in the background. I immediately got my guitar to play. I looked for other acoustic versions but your version was the nicest. I'm playing it a little different, but only because I want to sing with it.. Ha ha! Thanks again!
Brilliant lesson Mike. Making the wonderful music of the Beatles seem less daunting to attempt for us backroom Guitarists . Hope your'e enjoying the South of France and if I bump into you down on holiday there I'll , buy you a beer !
Steve Carter - Thanks Steve - you can certainly play it! Try and just learn a measure or two at a time. Practice it REAL slow and only move forward when you get those couple of measures perfectly.
Very cool Mike! I’m gonna give it a work over! Thanks for your effort posting this! Much appreciated! I’m still playing your version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow..
We, as living beings in this universe, exist on a carrier wave. We all vibrate at different wave lengths on this carrier wave. When we syncopate with our carrier thru meditation, psychedelics, near death experiences, ect - We can access the Heart of Life and it's Knowledge. In my lineage, the search for this State of Being is known as Mukua Wechki. (Spirit Quest) Yes, I was once a child of the 60s and grew up in the time of psychedelics but it still overwhelms me that the Beatles were so very able to create a musical path to this realm. John, Paul, George and Ringo are true Gifts to our Universe and the Glass Onion.
hi there. the inverted control plate is something I've always associated with him. He may not have been the first? it's a great idea for a tele. makes swells easier. rock on good sir.
Superb arrangement Mike ... glad I'm on board with your Charts/CD. Masterfully done .... merci. You're a teacher's teacher. Among the top 5 guitar instructors on RUclips without a doubt. Carry on! (After masterfully tracking the Beatles, many of wonder what next super/influential classic rock band will you passionately present next?
Nice! This is so weird; I worked out something very similar on acoustic (a disappointing Yamaha I spent a lot on - whereas my prior Seagull was cheaper but sound phenomenal - until my insane ex, Michelle, through a book through the body!) I had the same idea around 4 years ago of trying to boil the whole song down on acoustic guitar and used many of the chord shapes and individual picked notes you used. I also agree with your characterizing Paul's lyrical claims as 'claimed.' John's original lyrics show the newspaper taxis line in his (John's) handwriting. I think Paul's input in the writing, was, besides the beautiful intro - VERY limited.
I understand the credits that song writers take for putting together the progression of chords that vision a song. However ... there are groups of musicians who (in addition to writing a chart), and master arrangers. Many of the Beatles' tunes were arranged masterfully and often with the accompaniment of key master musicians, Billy Preston and Clapton come to mind., while G. Marin produced. In my mind, Queen finally got the song writing credits done right toward the end of their journey. All members of the band agreed and received equal credit for the songs they produced. Similarly, the Fab Four, and an occasional guest artist, the producer all should have received credit all the time IMHO.
I'd love to see your breakdown of "Here, There & Everywhere" from the Revolver" album. The descending harmonies on the last verse gets me every time. I'd suggest also that "And I Love Her" is a great song with interesting features and a lovely solo that is fairly straightforward for people to learn. I'm sure you could do a great job with that. Well in truth you do a great job on all of the songs you analyse, so I'll be checking them out regardless. Still; "And I Love Her"... how can you resist?
RUclips needs more people like Mike!
The world needs more people like Mike.
The world does!!!
Agree. Search "Beatles" and Mike should come up. First.
You always make great videos! So much respect for the song and music, thank you for this!

This song has extraordinary beauty .. it could only have been written by an extraordinarily beautiful man .. and it was.
So happy you've included chord shapes and named them - it really helps. Thank you so much
