This is an incredibly well done piece and very cute. The only thing I can think of adding is an interior tie just above the scissors pocket so you can tie the scissors in through the finger holds and they'll remain secured no matter which way you toss the kit should you be traveling with it. It's not my original idea but one I've seen on hand embroidery kits for a similar function. I might add a flap over the pocket on the end or a long velcro strip like the spools have so the pockets contents don't spill out.
I love the zippered pocket for securing small bits and bobs. Another thing I like is the two pieces of felt for the needle holder. It's great to have a cover over the needles to avoid getting stuck by them when you're going for something else.
I wonder if I could add a lining to the zipper pocket so there's an extra open pocket for a bigger item like a pattern. Things wouldn't fall out because the opening would be alongside the spools so it would be closed when the kit was folded up and tied.
Yes, this has my mind working on how to modify it to meet my own foibles. It would be fun to embroider my initials on it (my machine does embroidery faster than I can). I love it when a pattern gets my creative juices going.
Thank you for posting this video. Just what I needed. There might a gift or two for my granddaughters who have just learned to sew.
This is a perfect bag for handwork. Thank you for this great tutorial!
A lovely kit. Planning to make one to carry in the car. Thank you for this tutorial.
Had fun with this pattern. I couldn’t find my Velcro so I sewed an elastic loop at the end of my thread holder and then a button to hold it. Just another option. This is a great scrap buster. I also used fusible fleece as an inner layer.
Excellent video! I will be making this soon.
Great to make for Christmas presents! People would love a sewing kit for those who don’t quilt.
Oh my goodness this is the perfect gift for ME :) I can't tell you how many times I have left handwork at home simply because I didn't have anything to keep it in and organized. Love it!
I like that you showed us this step by step - I don’t mind at all that it was a little longer. Really nice little sewing kit kit for binding/english PP/or whatever else you can dream up to use it for. I always love your small project tutorials!
I'm heading to a quilt retreat and we are exchanging gifts this will be perfect! Thanks so much.
Thank you for doing a step by step on this. I cut out my fabrics and I'll be sewing mine this week.
I made this pouch when Vanessa showed it on Fat Quarter Shop years ago. It was so fun to make and I made some for gifts. Everyone loved them and it was so fun to make them in different fabrics. I am glad you made a tutorial.
Thank you for the tutorial. This will be great gifts for crafters.
Thank you for sharing your making of the larger version. I too am going to be using mine for English Paper Piecing. Great Tutorial
Much Appreciated Sherri
Handy sewing book. Very useful. I like that. Thank you to you both.
I made one of these a few years ago. It goes with me everywhere. Worth making for sure.
Great tutorial! I lover these types of small projects in between larger projects!!!
I thought this was a great tutorial. I’ve watched a few now on this type of pouch. I only wish I’d seen this tutorial before I started my own version. This one is so much better.
Perfect for taking along for the weekend!!! I haven't brought along any quilting to our sailboat because of space and how to transport the necessary items. This will easily take along my handstitching needs. Thank you for the slightly larger size.
Amazing tutorial and fabulous video thanks for sharing your beautiful ideas
Super cute bag. I am going to make it for my binding. Right now, all my binding stuff is in an old butter dish! Thank you!
This was a darling project and I actually enjoy your videos, no matter how long! Thank you and Vanessa for this project.
Love the small projects good instructor easy gift idea and way to use up scraps thanks 😊
Love this tutorial. You are so very generous with your time and talent. If your busy schedule would allow, you should kit these up with your beautiful fabric lines and sell them in your Etsy Shop. So many of your followers would buy them up. Would make such lovely gifts. Thank you and to your daughter, too, for all that you do for the quilting community!
Excellent tutorial. Thanks, Sherrie.
Such a great size! Love your taller version. I am looking forward to getting some of that fabric. It’s so pretty. I need to make myself one of these for my EPPs. Can always use more than one of this type bag. Thank you for the tutorial. 💕☀️🧵
Great video. I like the step by step instructions.
This is so cute 😉Great gift idea!
Thank you for the video! I cannot wait to make one for myself & my quilting friend!
This sooo cute. I wish we could see you sew on your machine on your tutorials. Love your channel ❤
I love making the Goody Goody Binding bag. I have given them to several of my swap partners. I like the modifications you made. I've been meaning to make one for myself and I think I'll try your changes. Thanks for the great video and for all you do.
This is so cute. Need to make something similar to this to make a jewelry case for travel. Love this!
Thank you so much for taking the time to show us how to make this. I am looking forward to making this!!!
This is exactly what I need for my EPP. Thanks so much to you and @vanessa gertzen.
Thank you so much, I absolutely loved your tutorial and I can’t wait to make a sewing kit!
What a great tutorial. I’ve been too intimidated to make bags but you have made it easy. Thank you!
You do a wonderful job of explaining!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial. Not too long at all. I just May give it a try!!
This is awesome, after the holidays I am going to make one of these for my English paper piecing, love your videos, you make everything look so simple
Oh my I love this and will have to make this for my EP - just the perfect bag to take along and I like the increased size. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Thank you, I have just started EPP and have been looking for a handy travel sewing kit. Love this size.
Super cute and useful bag, Sherri!!! Thank you for your detailed tutorial!!
Really nice sewing kit. Love it 😍
I've just started EPP and this is perfect - actually both sizes would work. Thanks for your great ideas. I might add some more pocket slots on the pocket section but I really think this is a beautiful project and great for scraps. Love this!!
Just found your tutorial. Thanks. Keep up the good work. Beautiful project bag.
Thanks for a great tutorial I made to 2 of the bags yesterday.
Adorable and doable bag.
Thank you for the tutorial... it's lovely and would make a great gift.
Love it. I will make one for my best buddy. Thank you.
Such a cute sewing project and would mae a perfect Christmas gift! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your clear instruction.
LOVE this video and I like step by step longer videos - I shall be making some today. I thought also you could also attach a small piece of material folded in the same way you folded the cotton holder for a marking pen. Thank you and please keep the lovely videos coming. Linda from England
I LOVE THIS....I am going to make one for myself....thank you
I like this bag. Would be perfect for traveling and having all my binding necessities in one place, handy and secure. Thanks!
Can't wait to make this!
Thank you .. I have made one but after watching you going to make one for a gift ..
Great tutorial. Thank You. I love it. 💕💕
Awesome project thank you for the tutorial
Fantastic project!
Love this! I'm thinking you could also fill different bobbins with different colored threads to put on the thread holder. Also, could you put a back on the zipper pouch first. Then, put it down leaving the one edge open for another pocket under the zipper pocket. Just an idea. Thanks so much for the tutorial. 😊❤
Thank you. Very nicely done.
im loving that you share this project!!! i love sewing little things like this as i am new!!! thank you soo soo much! p.s you can make 1hour videos and i would still be very very happy to sew with you.:D
This is a really lovely sewing kit, the only thing missing for me especially is a pen holder because I seem to be always using a pen/pencil when I am using my sewing kit. It could possibly fit in between the middle section and the right hand side pocket....what do others think ? Do you need a pen holder too ?
What a beautiful and handy pouch. I do love the fig tree fabrics and sadly I don't have any of hers.
I simply just love it thank you for sharing ❣️✂️🧵🪡💖💗💕❤️
Thanks for the directions.
Love this!! Thank you!!!
As you are using yours for epp, could you do a whole length lining piece, to put a pocket behind the half pocket you use for your packet of cut papers. Do one more bound edge... You will be needing somewhere to put your covered papers and your sewn together "flowers" until you get home. Ziplocks are handy for that. You could also sneak another pocket in behind your clip pouch as well, to put cut fabrics or pattern in? with one more fabric layer. You could have put small pleats in all 4 corners, to leave the excess in from changing zippers? If you sew down 3 sides of your needle keeper, the top of your scissors could tuck in up there? Where do you put your jack the ripper, thimble, marking pencil, tiny cutter or gluepen? In with the clips? Do you have a clear template with seams allowed for fussy cutting fabric hexies? Do you have a tiny cutting mat? You may be able to fit some extra fabric, or squares to applique onto, behind your scissors in that nice bigger pocket? If travelling, could you recharge your kit at night, for the next day, and remove done pieces to your luggage? Have fun, all the best.
Great video! Thank you!
Very cute! I had tons of trouble printing out the pattern 😑 had to print the google adds with it and the strawberry was in Adobe (?) and I couldn’t get it changed so I could print in the correct size..
PS: I guess you get what you pay for, lol 😆
but I would’ve gladly been referred to your Etsy shop or something and paid for a PDF that I could have easily printed…
Very nice!!!!!
I am not familiar with the clips you used to clip the alpha Betties to your pieces, could you give a link to them
Love it
I want one of these! Would you consider making a few for your Etsy shop?
I can’t FIND your Instructions??? Any help would be great, please help?? Thank you 😊
I'm not familiar with quilting. Is the outer fabric store-bought, or did you make it yourself?
Where do u buy these cute fabrics??
When you baste, what stitch length do you use?
Do you know why she uses felt i can tell you but you might push the info to the back of you mind but it makes you neddles to stay rust free
👍❤️😊
Disappointing....not every step shown, did not explain the difference in the zippers or if it mattered what kind of zipper you use, kept referring back to a bag that was previously made which was confusing.
😁😁😁
Mmm, good in parts but rather disjointed in others. Could probably have done with better planning so there wasn't so much back and forth.
This is a great project but there is too much talking before you even get started making the pouch (7+ minutes). Sorry but Stopped watching after 8 minutes.
I did like that you were showing things step by step, but I did find some things distracting. I would not keep referring to Vanessa’s bag as it was confusing. I also would prefer the pieces were sewn together ahead of time in the video, rather than stating you were going to the machine (too much back and forth for me) There was a lot of editorializing done in the video which was not necessary. I would just have the steps laid out on a piece of paper and presented in the video. You presented a lot of options in the video which is distracting also-most people will figure out what they want to do. All of this said, I did enjoy the design, but thought you could shorten the videos in the future with less chatting. Thanks.
