The twist of Adeline surviving was a simple but very shocking twist, it was also very Will done with her having both amnesia and PTDS from the crash, I assume the next part will be telling her story and moving on, and also learning how the radio station learned that story
This story really showed the sides of Duncan that we didn't expect to see. Duncan demonstrates a state of bravery and nobility that let to Adeline's rescue. And I love how you had the Thunderbird action theme playing when the MOD came to rescue Adeline! Very appropriate. She's rescued and restored and safe but Adeline's "unfinished business" is clearly beyond that.
@@BMXTRANS1 I already knew that but still is amazing to know that's the connection between shows about anthropomorphic locomotives sometime in post-WWII and tugboats in the 1920s/1930s and other shows about technologically advanced organizations fighting against Mysterons and rescuing people internationally in the 2050s and 2060s.
There's something about the way Sir Handel stops the moment Adeline asked that really shows how much he's grown character wise. No quip, no snideness, just 'Ok' and does so.
Adeline looks pretty good with her rebuild and her glasses. The poor old girl must have experienced hell during her accident to Garner that sort of reaction. I also like how this shows how much Sir Handel and Duncan have grown beyond being ill-tempered engines. Definitely much better than the "one-trait" character that is usually seen on the show. And I especially like how you leave us wanting to know more and more with each passing episode; never revealing everything all at once. I've definitely missed your high quality content. There are two little errors that I noticed after watching through it a couple of times: 1) the picture suddenly went blurry for a bit at 20:39 before clearing up. 2) I think you forgot to add Sir Handel's Voice Actor at the end credits. Last bit, this also serves as a bit of foreshadowing of what Lily is going to eventually experience.
Goose meant for number 6… Does that mean Percy is Goose? In the first part of the story, I saw him shunting when Sir Handel was talking with a MOD worker.
Looks like Ivo Hugh's becoming a little detective trying to solve the mystery on Goose. And the trailer tricked us. The "Ghosts are supposed to have unfinished business, aren't they?" line wasn't said to Rheneas, but to Harris. Very clever editing for the trailer there, Dan. Glad Duncan's confronted his fears on the bridge. And Adeline's not only alive, but rescued! Love her new glasses. I love how Sir Handel is characterised here. This big change when Adeline was found alive and rescued I was like “oh my god, I can’t believe she manage to survive that fall from the old iron bridge” regardless, I’m glad that Adeline was ok after that accident and restored back in one piece. Nice job on this episode.
Fresh Water would have kept her in a better state than saltwater, and the sediments would have made a sort of paint to cover her. As for how long she was underwater of the character in the Modern Years series she is the second one to be rescued from a watery "grave". The first was Lily
Poor Adeline. I'm happy that she's still alive and is restored to working order, but I worry for her mental health. Trauma induced amnesia is a terrible thing, I can only imagine what will happen when the full truth comes out.

The characterisation of Duncan and Sir Handel are both spot-on. It’s refreshing to see Sir Handel being so supportive to Adeline instead of the pompous sod he was in a lot of the books. As for Duncan, who happens to be my favourite of the SR engines, the “old man yells at cloud” persona seems to fit him quite well, but the fact he wants closure on the bridge incident and drops everything to help Adeline when she’s found shows there’s more to him than that. i love how you can barely see Adelines face when the chain is lowered down, but the expression of "what the fuck is this" is able to be conveyed still-
I also really liked the features of the mainline engines in the background, can’t wait to catch up with them again soon and hear all about what they’ve been up to
my only criticism, to what is otherwise a fantastic episode. is No locomotive rebuild on such a scale, especially after such a spectacular crash could be completed in two weeks. two years is about average in preservation for a full overhaul. love the series, keep up the good work!
Percy is Goose, isn't he? Ivo Hugh was humming "12 days of Christmas:" Adeline, No. *7,* is Swan, which is from the *seventh* day, goose is day *six.* Now who of the "big ones," as Harris put it, is No. 6?
If you want to get technical, there's three. 6. Percy D6. Evan E6. Jeffery (Not the works diesel) Though seriously, Percy would be the most likely because of timing and accessibility to the Skarloey line.
Adeline having PTSD is a given. I have it myself and its one of the most crippling things anyone could suffer from. And the condition is represented brilliantly here.
*happily watching the episode... gets to **12:15** and hears the music being played* Wait a second, that's the Thunderbirds theme! The 1960s puppet series to be exact if memory serves me right (haven't seen anything since the 2004 movie). :D
Good for you, Duncan! Now you can put all this humbug to rest once and for all! Man... This Adeline found under the bridge is a sorry sight. Love the color, though. Wish she'd kept it. XD Looks like she's gone from Timothy to Whiff. ;p Had a feeling all this would come back to our gal by the end of the episode. Hope there's some Danny Elfman music involved next time... Maybe John Williams? ;)
Rusty’s face is very telling at 7:58. I have a feeling he and the workmen actually did find Adeline the day after her “accident.” Then when they reported it to the thin controller, they were forced into keeping it secret and being part of the official secrets act. Rusty’s face in that scene is (possibly) him realizing that his secret knowledge of Adeline could become found out by everyone else.
calling it now, Goose is Percy. my reasoning? Ivo hummed 12 days of Christmas after getting reminded of the code names at 4:55. Adeline (number 7) was Swan (the 7th gift in the song) geese were the 6th gift in the song Percy is NWR number 6. therefore, Percy is Goose.
I do hope adeline would have the chance to talk to Lily, since they went through a similar experience and help adeline move on with her trauma and hopefully remember her past in a safe way
Loved this episode I thought that if adeline had survived it would have been revealed in the last episode also I'm glad Duncan faced his fears of the old iron bridge and saved adeline but why'd she say she wasn't really useful at the end.
Wildnorwester. I really got to hand it to you with this one. I've been watching since the beginning and I think this is one of your best miniseries yet. The way you took one spooky story from the Alec Baldwin era and turned it into a story of mystery, munitions and military espionage is nothing short of genius. On a side note, I really want to compliment you on Adeline's rusty model. You have an amazing talent at building models of abandoned or scrapped steam engines. You did a great job with Barry way back when and now you did great with Adeline too! Can't imagine what Lily would have looked like pre-restoration! She's a real gem and I hope she joins the ranks of your already amazing SKR Fleet one day! We chatted briefly on Discord about the original RWS series books a couple months before my son was born. Now little Edward is one and I can say proudly he is an avid fan of your series as much as the RWS Series. He watches both the Early and Modern Years and we run your models in Trainz for hours on end. While I'm sad to hear these tales are almost over, I can't thank you enough for entertaining us all these years. I wish you the best of luck in everything you do and both me and my son will be watching until the end. Best of luck to you my friend. You truely do the Thin Clergyman proud.
The way the story was going I probably suspected it but Adeline‘s ghost was appearing on the line or was going to be haunting the bridge just like the tail and Duncan gets spooked but now seeing that she was alive it’s like a miracle
"Last time (Duncan) saw a ghost on the old iron bridge, it had been his imagination, fueled by a tale." Keep telling yourself that, Duncan. It could be possible. My question (okay, I have several questions but the one that statement brings up) is did Duncan ever explain what the "ghost" he saw looked like and if he did, what did it look like? Another thing I just thought of. During the mid-credits scene in Duncan Gets Spooked, when he's crossing the old iron bridge at night, it's raining. It's not unreasonable to assume that the water in the gorge would be high in those conditions. Adeline wouldn't have been able to call out and yet... "Hello?". Just an observation that may or may not add to the mystery. For all I know, the water could have been just low enough to reveal Adeline.
SHE LIVES! Amazing reveal right there. Out of curiosity, was the Thunderbirds rescue inspired by Cam Jones’ “An Unlikely Rescuer” short he did? I do like what this story does, gives some Adeline answers but also dives into the traumatic aftermath and asks more questions as to the nature of her accident. It’s ominous and clearly it’s something very elaborate considering how flawlessly clean the scene of the crime was. Giving Duncan the end of his suffering since the spook incident is also a great bit of closure. Also, kudos for working in the Gangnam Style reference you’ve been alluding to.
Also, Adeline taking a week and a half to be rebuilt? With that kind of damage, it would take months, maybe years, unless the SKR workshops have round-the-clock staffing.
Minor nitpick, where does 1 and a half weeks come from, for Adeline's rebuild? Seems an awfully quick time frame, even 1.5 years would be quite impressive. Otherwise good, enjoyable story, nice way to give a closure to Duncan's ghost. Intriguing choice to give Adeline PTSD & Amnesia, it'll be interesting to see how you develop it in the final part.
This was mine as well - the really quick turnaround on the rebuild stood out to me. I know the narrow gauge engines are smaller, hence less materials, but still, that's super fast.
@@ctskifreaks Also they do say that the workmen at crovan's gate are some of the best, but even with both of these factors I agree it still seems too quick for that.
I'm not going to lie when Adeline was going through her memories it gave me shivers down my spine it must be horrifying, imagine being alive breathing steam engine that is scared to rust away......
While I was a little bit disappointed by the lack of the supernatural at the start (I quite like ghost stories and the like) this episode more than made up for that. A realistic take was unexpected but very welcome. Good job mate. Ill be sure to keep watching.
It’s 7 AM here and, upon seeing the “reveal” (no spoilers for anyone who isn’t done watching), I shrieked at the top of my lungs! Also, is that minor foreshadowing for Lily I saw? I remember a deviant art post, a while back, from you! Holy hell, the cinematic parallels are… fantastic! Adeline, are you alright?
I think what Adeline would look like in a different colour she would be either a blue or a cyan because all the other all the narrow gauge engines were repeated in the future Skarloey : red Rheneas : orange Sir handle/falcon : blue Peter Sam/ Stewart: green Rusty: orange Duncan: yellow Atlas : Brown Duke: brown Adeline: cyan And ivo hugu: red
U know the events of this has happened in my AU. however Adeline is replaced by proteus And Adeline is one of the engines on the tramway that smudger used to work on
Good on ya Duncan!!! This is just a good feeling having adeline restored and the way she was rescued… was that a thunderbirds reference? It was genius, still I can’t help but feel bad for the poor ol’ girl, she probably can cross the old iron bridge, but doesn’t want to with that trauma

i love how you can barely see Adelines face when the chain is lowered down, but the expression of "what the fuck is this" is able to be conveyed still-
I also really liked the features of the mainline engines in the background, can’t wait to catch up with them again soon and hear all about what they’ve been up to
my only criticism, to what is otherwise a fantastic episode. is No locomotive rebuild on such a scale, especially after such a spectacular crash could be completed in two weeks. two years is about average in preservation for a full overhaul.
love the series, keep up the good work!
6. Percy
D6. Evan
E6. Jeffery (Not the works diesel)
Though seriously, Percy would be the most likely because of timing and accessibility to the Skarloey line.
Adeline having PTSD is a given. I have it myself and its one of the most crippling things anyone could suffer from. And the condition is represented brilliantly here.
I am relieved that Adeline has been finally rescued and restored to working order again. she now looks great
The mystery of the "Ghost Engine" has been solved, now how it happened is next to be. Also the theme used in the rescue scene was most appropriate.
*happily watching the episode... gets to **12:15** and hears the music being played* Wait a second, that's the Thunderbirds theme! The 1960s puppet series to be exact if memory serves me right (haven't seen anything since the 2004 movie). :D
I will say at first I just thought this little series was gonna be a one off ghost story but I'm loving how it's panning out
Well, this story took a turn I wasn't expecting! An incredibly well put together and mature story partner! Looking forward to the next one!
Good for you, Duncan! Now you can put all this humbug to rest once and for all!
Man... This Adeline found under the bridge is a sorry sight. Love the color, though. Wish she'd kept it. XD
Looks like she's gone from Timothy to Whiff. ;p
Had a feeling all this would come back to our gal by the end of the episode.
Adeline (number 7) was Swan (the 7th gift in the song)
geese were the 6th gift in the song
Percy is NWR number 6.
therefore, Percy is Goose.
But what kind of connection does Percy have to the MOD?
@@banjoshmanjo8088 maybe Percy was built for the military, his history is a mystery before sodor.
If the code names are to do with the 12 days of Christmas, then where does raven come in?
@@harryjohnson9215 Ravens are black, and Harris is little black battery powered engine. So it's safe to say that's why that was his codename.
@@averyj5956 I know that
He is implying that the code names are to do with the 12 days of Christmas
Glad they found her can't wait to see what happens next episode hope she gets through her trauma of her accident on the bridge
That six million dollar man reference went right over the Thin Controller's head, lol
I loved binge watching you’re videos. Now, i’m caught up!
"We can rebuild her, we have the technology!"
Poor dear’s got PTSD. That’s definitely something that many can relate with.
Got to say I love Adeline’s rebuild model it looks perfect
Wonderful video. I'll treasure these for years to come.
What a nice birthday present! Thank you Wildnorwester!
FIZZLIN' FIREBOXES!!!
When the thunderbird theme kicks in..Amazing!
Wildnorwester you did it again I actually like Adeline’s new shape and the glasses are a nice touch
15:20 gangnam style… i really really appreciate the amount of effort and detail you put up for this, i tip my hat to you sir.
For all I know, the water could have been just low enough to reveal Adeline.
oh you madman! using the thunderbirds theme for the engine's rescue! XD
Dang, that end line was sad. Amazing episode!
12:10 Love the thunderbirds music, very good. 🚀
Bust my boiler, poor Aldine, I hope she will be able to recover more of her memories.
While I was a little bit disappointed by the lack of the supernatural at the start (I quite like ghost stories and the like) this episode more than made up for that. A realistic take was unexpected but very welcome. Good job mate. Ill be sure to keep watching.
Wow this has me laughing with Duncan! She's alive! Wonderful love these videos so much
I never thought I hear that GANDAM STYLE is canon to STMY
That song should be banned from Sodor or all over. I HATE IT!!!😤😡😠😤
I loved the use of the thunderbirds theme during the rescue.
Same here mate. 👍
This was a deep story….. I definitely look forward to the rest
Just caught up on this entire saga today! My goodness this is good stuff
I think what Adeline would look like in a different colour she would be either a blue or a cyan because all the other all the narrow gauge engines were repeated in the future
Skarloey : red
Rheneas : orange
Sir handle/falcon : blue
Peter Sam/ Stewart: green
Rusty: orange
Duncan: yellow
Atlas : Brown
Duke: brown
Adeline: cyan
And ivo hugu: red
Certainly hadn't thought she would have survived that accident or if she was to appear I didnt think we would see her this early.
I love the use of the Thunderbirds theme!
I can't believe I managed to see this one coming from a mile away. That's not a commonplace thing for me.
Adeline and Duke have a bit in common
With Atlas behind her, Adeline looks like a tender engine. Not a bad shape at all, she looks pretty good with it since her cab is very tall.
ADELINE SURVIVED THE WHOLE TIME, HOW? 🤯🤯! Holy sh*t!
Almost read the comments before finishing the video, but good thing I stopped. Amazing story! Great to see Adeline has been found and restored!
Wow this story is compelling. Her last line at the very end had me almost wanting to tear up.
If Lilly survived being at the bottom of the sea for 50-70 years, Adeline could survive at the bottom of a Stream for less then half that
U know the events of this has happened in my AU. however Adeline is replaced by proteus
And Adeline is one of the engines on the tramway that smudger used to work on
Finally, Adeline is alive. Thank God.
I saw this drop and came as quick as possible
Great story. She is alive and like her new look. Now a proper steam engine
It was a Thunderbirds homage, yes.
If this takes place in 2012 that means James the red engine in this Canon would be 100 years old at this point.
I have no words, love the blue glasses
Loved the thunderbird style rescue at 11:54
