Did we really expect these two, with their history of overanalyzing everything, to properly enjoy this classic? Still fun watching the movie slightly break their minds.
The fact that you tried to logically understand this movie is hilarious. The fact you didn't like it says so much and none of it good. This movie is a gem.

It's like you deliberately went out of your way to nitpick and misunderstand the entire point and feel of the movie. It was honestly like watching my grandparents react to it... Disappointing, but oh well, to each their own. Better luck with your next movie.
It feels like they didn't wanna like this movie from the start because they wanted another movie to win the poll so they just looked for every little thing they could to not like the movie.
It is a classic because Bill and Ted are not the brightest bulbs out there but they are legit endearing characters with a good heart. That's why people love the film. They like seeing these guys go on crazy and strange adventures. The film does not take itself seriously enough to make sense so I think your overly strict approach to how you think storytelling ought to work is actually fairly limiting in terms of what kinds of stories can be told.
Because a woman doing housework of any kind is offensive in 2024, even if she's Joan of arc helping Bill and Ted bring global peace and prosperity, still not ok.
Wow. I’ve never seen such a negative response to one of the most wholesome movies ever made. I turned you off when you said “there’s three of these”. Lighten up and unclench.
I love it when Nerdy said “it’s so fun to see Keanu Reeves in this kind of role” This was his only role type until Point Break. We thought it was a one off that he was so good in Speed. But when the Matrix came out, that changed his entire acting trajectory.
It's a bit like how people can't imagine Tom Hanks in a comedic role, yet that was his entire career for at least a decade, and then was half and half for the following decade.
For those who have trouble seeing action star Keanu playing the stoner Ted, think how hard it was for us to see him going the alternative route. Ted Theodore Logan as a choreographed action hero? Whoa!
When Bill was about to make a call and he said "Let's reach out and touch someone!" he was referencing Bell Telephone jingle that was ubiquitous in advertising in the 70s and 80s
The "let them eat fast food" girl definitely understood the assignment. I seriously question these people's tastes in movies. Also in history reports. "Only white people could believe that so hard." Proceeds to sing a Quincy Jones song.

The story of the movie which I don't think you were paying attention to is that the history report was on how the historical figures would react to modern day San Dimas - that's why Ted told his little brother to take Napoleon out to the movies, it's why they took the figures out to the mall, and that's what the other students were trying to convey in their (much lamer) reports.
The time machine was supposed to be a van, but was changed because it was deemed too similar to Back to the Future. This was the 80s, there were like 25 people in America who knew what Doctor Who was.
This movie was pretty successful when it came out, and it ended up spawning a sequel in 1991, then a Saturday morning cartoon, and a live-action TV series, and another sequel in 2020. Plus at least one comic book series.
It's bizarre how you two seem to think that non-english speakers are so dumb that they can't recognize the introduction of people by their names or can't learn a game by it being demonstrated rather than being explained the rules in their native language.

You guys are too young to remember, but "reach out and touch someone" used to be AT&T's advertising slogan (I think from the 70s until some time in the 80s). It was a big enough part of pop culture that sometimes people would use it as slang for making a phone call.

@@MrKeychange if you're looking for the opposite type of reaction, I think the channel is Nikki Lu or something like that. She seemed emotionally overwhelmed at how much she loves the movie and the boys. The sequel too.
I love when younger reactors think that the way actors are seen today was always how they were thought of like others have said on here about Keanu and Tom Hanks. Also, George Carlin understood the comedy of this film.
There's a wide variety of media types and this is one of those that doesn't and has never made sense that's the point, it is a dumb fun movie and knows it, you can either go with it and have fun or be a stick in the mud.
Interestingly, the time machine turns into a telephone booth because of Back to the Future. It was going to be a van, but they thought that was too close to the DeLorean so they changed it. The writers and director claim that they weren't aware of Doctor Who yet.
No, we endured watching you being a couple of sticks in the mud being totally disrespectful to their fans that clearly loved this movie enough to think you would actually give it a chance than being snooty about it from the first scene. WTG /unsub
I am constantly amazed how much people won't allow themselves to have fun watching a movie. It's not meant to be accurate in ANY way. But by all means, pick it apart and have NO fun watching it because you are such highly regarded intellectuals...Jeezus...
Yeah, maybe we don't recommend any more comedies for these folks. It genuinely feels like they don't get the concept. Seeing them try to wrap their heads around Mel Brooks or Monty Python might break me.
This movie broke me too. I was the guy who got hired in 1989-1990 to port the "Bill 'n' Ted's Excellent Adventure" video game from the PC and Atari ST to the Amiga, and what an experience it was! The movie is probably better than the game, but, hey, see if you can spot the development team hidden in the background of one of the scenes. Anyway, the thing that I found cool was at the end of the project when we received the script for a proposed sequel called "Bill 'n' Ted Go to Hell."
One of my favorite movies. Another time travel movie you guys should react to is The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz. It's like Top Gun meets Back to the Future.
Watching you watch this was exhausting. Maybe consider not posting reactions where you hate the thing people love. Nobody who hates this movie is going to watch you watch it, so it just feels like you want to aggravate your audience.
Good advice. They surely must be aware that they're the outliers when it comes to disliking this movie. And considering that this was voted on by fans of the movie, it would've been best to simply scrap the reaction and tell folks that they just weren't vibing with it. It's not like they're official film reviewers where they're obligated to say negative things about a movie they don't like.
Positive or negative, doesn't matter. Any interaction with the channel feeds the algorithm. The only possible repercussions are those that will not visit again. Heck, I'm very selective about which of their reactions I'll even consider and always check the comment section first.
All through the reaction you keep thinking that surely they will start to understand that it’s not supposed to be a serious “make sense” kinda movie…. 🤦🏼♂️ At one point Nerdy says ”I hate this movie”….well, I hated sitting thru this reaction so…. I guess were even 😏
This is one of the most tonedeaf reactions I've ever seen. It's like they can't read environmental or social queues from the movie. Also, it doesn't take a genius to understand you can't judge a 1989 film by the cultural and social standards of 2024. These two gave a "holier than though" attitude through this whole reaction, and it was a bad look, and made them seem mean spirited. I'll think I'll double check before clicking on a Nerdy Nightly video.
I think I figured out why these 2 reacted so negatively to this film. If the playlists on this channel are any indication, they have pretty much literally NEVER watched anything from before the 21st century (with one exception I could see...Hocus Pocus) so they have no concept of how movies were constructed before they emerged on this Earth. Maybe they need to broaden their movie horizons a little bit...smfh
18:53 Has Socrates quoting (in Greek) the opening to an 80s Soap Opera, Days of Our Lives. 30:10 The stuff Joan of Arc left on the floor recreates the end credits of an old movie about her.
This is a movie that you leave your brain and sense of logic at the door and just enjoy the ride. Also, give it up for the step-mom Missy. She was really supportive of her step-son and helped him, even though she had no idea what was going on. All she knew was that they had to do this for their report, she went to the school for moral support and cheered them on.
I was in junior high when this came out, and as I recall the trailers included the iron maiden / bogus clip. I think those of us who saw this in its original theatrical release knew what we were signing ourselves up for with this movie. 😂

@greed13X OK, I guess I named the wrong generation then. Maybe I meant Gen Zers? The thing is, these 2 seem to be old enough to be Millenials but maybe I was wrong. I stand corrected.
@@bjgandalf69 There are way more Millennials (and probably Gen-Z for that matter) that enjoy Bill & Ted than there are Boomers that do. It is astounding to me the way people rewrite history to pretend films like these were universally beloved when they first came out. Bill & Ted was one of those Gen-X comedies that older generations used as an example of that generation having no sense of humor. A dumb film for braindead stoners who watch too much MTV. If anything, Nerdy Nightly's reaction to this film is kind of old-fashioned, as it kind of reminds me of the way my parents view this film.
Bill and teds is testament to why movies these days suck a lot of the time. It’s not deep, it’s not trying to be clever, it’s not trying to be edgy. It’s just trying to be entertaining, and it achieves that in spades. I saw it in the cinema, I bought it on vhs, I bought it on dvd, I’ve downloaded it. In over 30 years, it has remained pure fun.
In 1988(ish) battery powered watches had been introduced, but many still required stem winding. There was a short lived experiment with eccentric spring weighted watches where moving your arm made the weight wind the watch.

@@MrKeychangeI've never seen anyone even dislike this movie. I'm just running through comments before pressing play and I'm getting depressed already.
@@crankfastle8138 It's borderline rage bait. It's like someone looking through pictures of your childhood and making fun of it
@@crankfastle8138 And yeah, I have never met or seen anyone (besides these two) from any generation, who hasn't loved this movie.
Carlin came back for the second movie so he wasn't embarrassed by it
@@m.e.3862 I think he really bought into the meta nature of the whole concept.
These kids don’t even know Carlin
@@ginahorton8886not would they get him.
the hailstorm noise is actually fine if you just pretend they're making popcorn in the background.
There's a wide variety of media types and this is one of those that doesn't and has never made sense that's the point, it is a dumb fun movie and knows it, you can either go with it and have fun or be a stick in the mud.
Making fun of this movie for movie sense is like making fun of Airplane for movie sense.
WTG /unsub
sigh, next time catch a buzz, grab some popcorn and just go with it....
I am constantly amazed how much people won't allow themselves to have fun watching a movie. It's not meant to be accurate in ANY way. But by all means, pick it apart and have NO fun watching it because you are such highly regarded intellectuals...Jeezus...
I'm 3/4 of the way through and I'm tapping out. I'm usually SO excited for a Bill & Ted reaction, but I just can't.
I don't even know what to say, tbh
Wow .... just, wow. 😥
Yeah, maybe we don't recommend any more comedies for these folks. It genuinely feels like they don't get the concept. Seeing them try to wrap their heads around Mel Brooks or Monty Python might break me.
I disagree. We need to make them understand.
I've never been so distressed by a reaction in my life. Let go. Sometimes stupid is fun.
Seriously. I know that it causes engagement and generates views, but it's a bad way to build a following.
@@WastedPo I've never seen an ounce of self-awareness from these two.
Bad reaction to an awesome movie
All through the reaction you keep thinking that surely they will start to understand that it’s not supposed to be a serious “make sense” kinda movie…. 🤦🏼♂️
At one point Nerdy says ”I hate this movie”….well, I hated sitting thru this reaction so…. I guess were even 😏
If i had a tardis i would so go hang out with so crates and let him listen to the entire pimk floyd catalog
You two are more ridiculous than the movie 😂
What's a "stallon"? A stallion is a male horse that has not been castrated.
i only watched a few minutes of their reaction and i can honestly say the 2 worst people to react to anything..
Millennials...stop being all high and mighty with thinking you are morally superior to those of us thay grew up generations before you. Signed, Boomers and Gen Xers
Bro Millenials are 30's and early 40's and many of us grew up with these movies.
I was like 13 when this came out and its the greatest movie of all time, well top 100 at least
In 1988(ish) battery powered watches had been introduced, but many still required stem winding. There was a short lived experiment with eccentric spring weighted watches where moving your arm made the weight wind the watch.
Those were chickens under the table after he fell out of the suit. Hipsters!
Why are you two so uptight?
