  • Even though the Toyota Yaris is only 4 years old, Toyota did a thorough update on this very succesful model. The interior electronics got updated, as did the safety systems. The most noticeable update is the new 130 horsepower hybrid drivetrain. An increase of 15 horsepower don't seem much, but it is the extra 44 Newtonmeters of torque that make a difference.

    Great review, your mix of technical details and your ability to give the viewer a ‘feel’ of what the car is like to drive is unique. Well Done!

    I like these, I had the 'old' one as a hire car and it was very easy to drive in town but I'm glad to hear its got more torque as it was needed. Another thorough and entertaining review my friend! :)

    Enjoyable and comprehensive review. I’m driving a 2021 version and intend to keep it for a few years. Yaris is perfect for UK driving. Looking forward to what will be next for Yaris!

    I have the 2024 Hybrid Yaris, average fuel consumption is 4L/100 km, and the maximum was 1L /38 km. Feels much better than my previous, Kia.

      It's amazing how efficient the Yaris is, but 1:38 is quite remarkable!

      @@Carnold_YT It very depends on the style of the driving, and the speed. 80-100 km/h, not accelerating too much, slowing down here and there. And then you see it going from 22 -25 km/L, to 30-32 km/L and even above. And the weather - near 30 C.

    Hallo Arold,
    Met vriendelijke groet..

      Ik haalde 1 op 28 met de Hybrid 115, ik denk dat je zeker 1 op 25 moet kunnen halen. Hier is mijn Nederlandstalige test: carnold.nl/rijimpressie-toyota-yaris-hybrid-130/

    Comparing the updated 130hp with the pre-update 115hp, do you find the new one quieter on the highway? Some people have said there's a bonded front windscreen, improved engine mounts and other changes that mean there is less noise from outside the vehicle and from the drivetrain. Did you notice any difference?

    • @Carnold_YT
      @Carnold_YT  2 месяца назад +2

      In all honesty: I haven't really noticed a difference. Reason being: we have a daytime speed limit of 100 km/h and at that speed the Yaris was and still is, very quiet. It may be true that the updated version is quieter at higher speeds, but I can't say with certainty. However, I did notice the added horsepower during merging and overtaking, that does make the car smoother and less noisy, due to the fact that engine has to 'work' less hard to achieve the desired speed.

      @@Carnold_YT Many thanks. I guess if the drivetrain is working less hard, and the electric motor is engaged more often, it must be quieter. I'm reassured you found the car quiet at highway speed.

    • @Carnold_YT
      @Carnold_YT  2 месяца назад

      I think your current Yaris will do just fine, the extra cost (buying a brand new car) will outweigh the performance benefit. If you enjoy your Yaris, I think you should keep it. Thanks for watching!

    Man, my Volvo V40 2017 with D2 diesel got better fuel consumption than this and the taxes are nearly 3x lower(Sweden).
    Don't see the point in getting this, which is sad

    • @Carnold_YT
      @Carnold_YT  Месяц назад

      It's a common mistake in my opinion to compare the fuel consumption of diesel and petrol cars, because the measuring system is the same. Both can be measured in liters per 100 kilometer, but the fuels are completely different - how much petrol equivalent would your Volvo consume?
      In terms of energy efficiency and total energy consumption diesel engines make total sense, I cannot disagree with you on that point. But the reality in the Netherlands is that diesel engine have been practically killed off by politics. Road taxes for a V40 D2 are € 140 a month over here...

    • @Farekim
      @Farekim Месяц назад

      @@Carnold_YT My D2 is 88€ per year and this Yaris is 237€. Might be bad comparison because my D2 is still under older regulations hence the cost.
      Nonetheless, still doesn't make any sense to get rid of yet, since diesel is still cheaper than gas.
      If it was more like 3l/100km then I would consider it
