Buongiorno guys, I'm Max Ginestra.
I've always had a dream to travel for food around the world.
I believe that through the food we can deeply explore new cultures, traditions and get to know the people.
In this channel, Abroad and Hungry, I will share my passion for street food, local and traditional cuisine.
Ciao guys!!!

I am a Turkish living in Canada and I always preferred Greek restaurants here, probably because of similar taste culture. I have to admit Greeks are very good in food business and the quality of what they offer and service does usually not change over time. I was really saddened when one of my favorite restaurants called Diogenes shut its doors in Montreal. It was a small restaurant with friendly, warm atmosphere, with little blue tartan clothed tables, house wine and nice soothing Greek music playing in the background. Their chicken pita and meat dishes were one of the best that I ever tasted. Also I love the Pikilia plate, Greek style Mousakka, Spanakopita, Taramosalata.
Mash'Allah brother
I am Greek who lives in Sweden and I can say Turkish and Greek restaurants are the best mate. If I can not find Greek food then it's the Turkish food the best next choice
I'm Greek and I live in Italy. It's hard for me to have an opinion on Turkish restaurants because where I live most Turkish people open up kebab shops with barely any proper cooked food. We got Lebanese restaurants, Syrian ones, but no Turkish ones.
@@dalaiklama Hi. You can find excellent top class restaurants in Turkey which are specialized in meat or traditional Turkish food. Unfortunately outside of Turkey, especially in North America I did not see that many Turkish restaurants at the same level compared to Greek or Italian ones. It seems outside of Turkey, Turkish entrepreneurs mostly go for small fast food-kebab style outlets. On contrary Greeks, Italians own pretty large scale restaurants or chains with a well decorated cozy dining atmosphere. In Montreal where I live the most popular restaurants are Greek or Italian and almost always full to the max. There are also good Indian, Chinese, Lebanese restaurants but not as many or popular as the Greek and Italian ones. In the US the situation is about the same. Note that I am not familiar with European countries like Germany where millions of Turks reside.
@@vaporizer08 To be honest, as a Turkish I dont prefer Turkish restaurants out of Turkey, and Greek Restaurants out of Greece, since they really do not try to make tasty food. I do have bad memories in Florida, New York, Georgia and New Orleans, was a big mistake obviously. I admire Italian, and Lebanese culture regarding abroad food making.
Greek food is the best in the world and I've traveled the world . Nothing compares.
I have too! And I absolutely AGREE !!!
Greece has EVERYTHING:
Meat Dishes
Vegetarian Dishes
Seafood Dishes
Pasta Dishes
Mezze Spreads
Multiple Dips
Multiple Soups
They also eat Pork & Gamey Dishes as well as Shellfish which most muslims & jews cannot!!! VERY IMPORTANT !!! 👍🏻
Best in the world? To me
Every Country has something amazing to offer. There is no one country without it's best dishes.
@@Menrva26 Not really. Have you been to England? I went to the best restaurant's and food was tasteless.
@@Menrva26 Im sorry, but as someone who has traveled most of the world, and has immersed themselves into the food cultures, Greece is Top Tier & has almost anything you can imagine! 👍🏻

After 15 cities in Italy and some in Spain and many Europe countries that i have been, the food in Greece (comparing its prices, quality, variety and availability) is on many levels above.
One significant reason why we do not leave the country for the money elsewhere despite the high qualifications. Some values are priceless...
Thank you for choosing the right local places and not tourist traps. You show the right way every tourist should consider to experience food in Greece. Excellent video with a true perspective!
not tourist traps? Πλακα κανεις ετσι?
Greek street food is wealthy in aromas, flavors, and influences and it's been entitled one among the world's hale and hearty cuisines. NO wonder Greece is known to be a hub for foodies. The rich taste of the Greek cookery is to be savored at each bite. It takes you on a sensational journey back in time to the land of Ancient Greek gods and heroes who once created the delicious recipes that we tend to rejoice these days. Happy street food tour! Cheers, Domenico.
Thank you so much ☺️
Je vis à Paris et pourtant je n’ai jamais mangé de gyros plus délicieux qu’en Grèce. J’adore !!!
You made the best choices my friend 🤌🏽 Whoever showed you these places definitely knows Athens !👏🏽😁
Una faccia, una razza. Love you Italy
Thanks 😊
In 2017 I visited my family in Athens. I was born there but have lived in NYC since I was a baby. They took us to Taverna Klimataria. I’ve been trying to go back ever since. Hopefully in the next two years I’ll be back.
Oh I've heard a lot about Klimataria. Was it good?
Man you’re killing me!!! I want to eat EVERYTHING!! I’m literally drooling 🤤
Yummy greek foods! 😋 best regards from turkey

Thank you so much for your message 😊
Greece and Italy have such good food. You should also visit bakeries and pastry shops in Greece...awesome pastries, breads, and fresh spanakopita, tyropita, and bougatsa.
Hello :) Thanks for your comment. I’ve made 3 videos in Athens and I also featured some of these delicious foods. 😁
@@AbroadandHungry Thank you! I miss the bakeries, the pastry shops, the taverns, the farmer’s markets, the fresh seafood, even the little curls of candied bergamot. 😊
Why do we even talk about Italy? This is a Greek food tour video,, even though not a successful one. One thing I admire about Italians is how they sneak into everything and promote their products and their country. That is why you mention Mediterranean food in this video and not Greek. So ingenious of you. Love from Crete Greece!!
@@arikanti2249 This is just a casual video made by a traveler who shared feedback from his trip to Greece. A professional documentary would be quite different. It's natural for him to bring up his country and compare dishes, so I don't mind that. Also, he probably has many Italian followers and they may want to hear his perspective as an Italian. My only complaint is that I wasn't invited to eat all that food...🙂
@@JULOC05 As you can understand in our days we have to be very careful on how to refer to others. Let alone on an entire country's gastronomy. And as I say,(based on facts): When ottomans conquered Kontantinople (Istanbul as it is known today, or the Byzantine empire) all the sultans wanted to eat like the Greeks. The Greeks that had already been experimenting with ingredients and recipes coming from west to east and vice versa. The same happened BEFORE that when the Roman empire conquered the Greeks. The Elite of the Romans showed their status by how much of a Greek lifestyle they had. They had to have Greek teachers for their kids, had to have the best Greek cuisine and be the closest to a Greek lifestyle as possible. Let's not forget that even BEFORE that, the empire of Alexander the Great used to transferred ingredients from west to east and vice versa. Theophrastus (Θεόφραστος 371-287 BC) in his book: "The history of plants", was one of the many Greek scientists and philosophers that first described all these products. Their ORIGIN, their taste, their use and their properties. Greeks always shared knowledge. Turks always ravaged, renamed and presented everything as their own and the beloved Italians still are very good at showing off. So, who influenced whom? Just because we are not showing off, it does not mean that we have not gone deeper to what the soul wants. Answers. Not only for the taste, but also for science, physics, philosophy, medicine, gymnastics, wellbeing...etc. Some concepts might have already been scattered around the world from some older civilizations but in Greece, there were breakthroughs in just about everything, in such a sort time and that is what the mystery is about. In my opinion this is because the minds here were and will always be restless. Please make your own research. (For Greek viewers, please feel free to copy and paste anything you feel is useful).
Everything looks so delicous.
Always love watching your food adventurers and yes my country’s food is great …Thanks for your positive report ….Best Alex🇬🇷

@@AbroadandHungry I'm Greek but I live in Italy. Hai un ottimo canale, apprezzo non solo l'entusiamo ma anche il fatto che non esageri sulle tue "recensioni" dei cibi. Every time I think I've seen all the bad and I've had enough of the mess - I watch this channel and I immediately feel better and realize that not everyone is bad. There are good people and good things in this world. Keep looking!
I was a bit nervous that you as an italian tried the pasta because greeks have their own way of making it. But generally speaking you can´t beat mediterranean cuisine!
Amazing looks super tasty i love the greek lamb patato lemon oregano🤗
So good! 😋
On Easter Sunday it is our tradition to roast lamb on a spit which we turn over charcoal for hours. The taste is unforgettable, like I will never forget the delicious amazing food of Istanbul.

Thank you so much ☺️
I agree, he must have done a very good research first, most of the RUclipsrs go to the touristic places and they miss the good stuff but he went to quality places, where the locals go
Thank you for the great tips on where to eat while I'm there in Athens. OPA
Amazing food tour! We are looking forward to our trip to Greece next year.
You will love it 😊
First of all, welcome to our country. I hope you enjoyed our delicacies and attractions of Athens. I want to remind everyone that the taste and quality of food in restaurants is a 25% of the homemade food what mums and grandmas cook in house. It's just a whole different experience. I mean if you love greek food that you are trying in a restaurant then you will fall in love with the homemade one. And as a guy said in the comments in the countryside the food is even better and more authentic. Portions are bigger and cheaper.
I hope I’ll get to visit the countryside one day and try some traditional food 😊
Awesome video guys. That pork looked insanely tender and so tasty. We love seeing all the mezze as well, everything looks so fresh and flavourful. Loving this Greek series 🔥🔥 keep up the awesome content! 💪
Hey guys!!! Glad you liked it. You would have loved that tender pork. Thanks a lot for your support ❤

I don’t mind to try the Greek street food, look so fresh
You got me drooling. Lucky me, I have yesterday's souvla leftovers to help me settle down 😂

You should try eating Patsa if you go back to Greece!
The coffee is called frappe, and it’s made with Nescafé instant coffee. Put a tsp. In a cup with a little water, shake it up, add ice, more water and some cream and sugar if you like.
you are correct, frappe is with instant coffee, but what they tasted is freddo espresso and freddo capuccino. nowadays greeks are more into this kind of coffee (mostly during summer months), as instant coffee is considered as something oldfashioned and more unhealthy than usual coffee.
a good point i ve heard about greeks and coffee is : greece is what brazil is for football, british invented football but brazil took it to another level.😉
The coffee was Fredo espresso!
Nobody drinks frappe anymore
Yahsoo Max n Sherly🍁🌸🌷efharisto para poli for another nice episode 🍁🍀🍂 nice the meze table, bogatsa, 2:19, cold coffee, lamb kebab, egg plant sauce👌👌👌👌👌afiyat olsun🌹🌿🌴
Ciao Ashrat :) Glad you liked it. Thanks a lot 😊
you have to go to the island you should go to chios very good food
American in Cyprus mmm these look like I must go and check out asap.
Looking now lol
Great content! Might I suggest going to the western suburbs of Athens and close to Piraeus (Korydallos, Nikaia), you can find many hidden gems specializing in kebab. Also you will find the best gyro in Achilleas (Neos kosmos area). From other areas in Greece, I would recommend going to rural Sterea Ellada (Thebes, Lamia, etc), you will find the best lamb dishes. Generally in central and northern Greece you will find the best kontosouvli (meat skewers), and especially in northern Greece the best soutzoukakia (small minced meat kebabs).
Watching this video was insane. I have had many of these foods, and to be honest, these are the only foods I ever want to have for the rest of my life. But I live in here where Authentic Greek is either nonexistent or cost prohibitive. One day just for the supremely great food...I shall return. Thanks for the great video!
Hello 👋
I miss Rhoads Greece's Gyros and the Falaraky beach.
This is one of the best greek street food videos i ve seen - amazing. Thank you for researching first rather than just going on tourism traps
I did not expect that an Italian neighbor would eat the marinated sardines in one go. These are eaten one at a time while drinking ouzo or fine wine! Nice video.
wow this video showed up in my suggested, and there are so many dishes here as a greek living abroad that i have never seen prepared in ways (like that mousaka, and your second breakfast) that i've never even seen even when i visit greece every other summer.
Watching from Greece.hi everybody.
U forgot to say "eline sağlık usta. Çok güzel, efsane" :DDDDD
Athens is a great food destination but in order to get the full greek food experience you have to go to the countryside. Better quality, biger portions and lower prices!
I hope I’ll get to do that in the future. That would be amazing 😊
