** Note: the Jet Lag feature is coming very soon and won’t be immediately available at launch.
Does this include “Bank robber” mode? 😂
I don’t think anyone who has the means to purchase a Marq needs that mode 😁
@@DesFit I was going to say, with the price tag. You’re going to need to rob a bank 😂😂😂
I have had the Marq American Magic (Captain) for about a year now and honestly it's what I daily, every single day. Expensive, but incredibly worth it. I'm glad they're continuing the line with a 2nd generation of these.
Being about twice as expensive, what makes it worth it? The materials and the overall feel? Do you have any experience with the Fenix and/or Epix series to compare to?
@@aexetanius It's purely design driven as it uses the same Fenix system. For me, it's the fact that it looks more of a "normal" watch with premium materials that I've yet to scratch (titanium), and I've been incredibly hard on the watch unintentionally. I have a Fenix 6S & I've messed with the Epix -- the main differences is that the Epix is much more vibrant and bright versus the display on the original Marq series, which is what I have. In outdoor light is where this watch truly shines; very easily legible. I still wear this Marq daily - I might upgrade to this new version due to the touchscreen abilities and being similar fashion of the Epix line.
@@JusaderFun fact, titanium is a lot easier to scratch than stainless steel.
Nothing beats DLC stainless steel.
@@StardustLegacyFighter well, Titanium Grade 5 is different level than Titanium on cheaper Fenix/Epix. More over Marq Aviator has Hardened Titanium.
Finally, a top-end smartwatch for watch lovers! This package does it for me. Full titanium case, soft domed oled screen, ceramic bezel, great battery life and a ton of sports features! Will replace my submariner as the “daily driver”
👍
That dome is a valuable feature in bright sunlight. Unlike a flat surface it does not flash the full sun into your eyes if you accidentally angle it the wrong way.
You and DCR are seriously slumming it today. For the Marq Gen 3 I want to see some tuxedos!
Ha! Funny, he was just mentioning to me that he did actually don a tuxedo for his Chronos video back in the day! ruclips.net/video/KW8wOeymBgM/видео.html

I have to admit the Garmin’s strategic management is a genius: everybody was waiting desperately for Fenix 7, so after they released it everybody was running to buy one. A slightly later the Tactix 7 came out so the former Tactix owners (like me) sold their almost new Fenix 7 watches to buy thr new Tactix, and the Quatix users did the same after just two months… then they released the Enduro 2 so some of the former Fenix 7 users also sold their half year old watches to have the latest and greatest… and now the flagship has arrived. I think this business model was very smart: they sold much more product with this.
"they sold much more product with this." i disagree. After all user will only get one out of the 60 models.
@@ivanteo1973 please think like an economist: if 60 people will buy used Fenixes from the previous users and 60 other people brand new Tactixes, quatixes, Enduros… that’s 120 sold watches from the seller point of view doesn’t matter what the end users will do with their product but the Garmin will sell another 60 watches. Even if you sell your watch for the first time you will buy it from Garmin…
@@gilberttiborjakub9890 Again, users are not economist. And watches ain't disposable underwear or candies. If I sell my Garmin watch, I will buy another Garmin watch the most, not the rest of the 59 models out there.
@@ivanteo1973 I don't think you can get the point. I am talking about the Garmin point of view... For Garmin as a company does not give a f what a user will do with their product after they paid for it.
@@gilberttiborjakub9890 Gamin should be paying attention to their customer journeys from a lifecycle instead of a transactional perspective. They milked the new release cycle of technology development from a profit standpoint, but what about customer loyalty? Apple and Coros are getting closer in the rearview mirror, and not every decision made in this cycle has been customer centric…
I like the different color schemes for each. I'll grab one of each to match the different Ferrari's I have. Actually, maybe 2 of each in case I lose one skydiving out of my private jet ;)
LOL! Lose one skydiving? Dude! Tighten that watchband a little harder. Or have one of your many assistants do it for you.
My friend has 16 of these. One for each color of his super and hyper cars. My favorite is the one for his SVJ Lamborghini which is all carbon fiber.
His outfit and watch setup for his McLaren P1 is out of this world though. Purple and green.
Excellent summary of all the features and design details for each of the watches in the series. Perfectly concise overview all around. Thanks so much!
Thanks Hunter!
Great review with all version differences specified. Good to mention their weight 84g with silicone band and screen 1,2” 390x390 px. Epix2 Sapphire 70g, screen 1,3” 416x416 px. I am impressed that their weight while entirely made of full grade 5 titanium is lower than my previous steel and polymer fenix 5 plus sapphire (89g). But my dark grey epix2 with brown silicone band is gorgeous enough.😊
The problem that I have with the pricing on all of these watches is that no matter what else happens I am told there is no way to replace the battery when it fails. Therefore in terms of buying a watch it's a different decision matrix when spending thousands on any watch in that class versus, say, buying a Rolex that has less functionality but can be expected to last longer than the buyer does. I look at these things as having a 5 year lifespan, as my best guess. And then you need something new. The first Forerunner I ever bought had a user replaceable battery even though the factory did not support its replacement. It was easy to take apart and seal up again. These watches in theory can be repaired but I don't know of anyone that has reverse engineered them and documented it for others to try.

Being an adventurous person who loves running, golfing and the odd sailing trip, I am also planning to obtain a pilot’s licence. Any advice on which model to choose, or should I just order the entire lineup?
Always enjoy your reviews :) I wanted to buy Gen1 years back wasn't sure about the screen clarity..........well 2 days ago I had a chance to see both Ge1 & Gen 2 and was surprised how clear the Gen1 Athlete screen is during daylight while in workout mode, Black text on white background is very easy to read. Gen 2 AMOLED is obviously much better and you do get all the latest tech :)
I purchased the gen1 at less than half price with 2 years warranty and decided to give it a try, love the screen clarity during workouts. Anything other than viewing the screen while working out the Gen 2 AMOLED is much better.
After 7 years with Apple Watches I'm glad I'm using the Garmin Brand again. Nothing wrong with The Apple Watch especially the ULTRA but just glad to be using Garmin again :)
I really hope Garmin updates the Fenix 7 or Epix with the jet lag feature. I'd be interested in knowing how it works exactly and for someone that travels quarterly to place with 6+ hour difference, that feature may prove to be invaluable
I believe Ray said in his review that this feature is heading to Fenix 7 / Epix in the future
They did.
@@vpnconsult my comment was over a year old. I have it on my epix
Luxury watches with an obsolescence of 3-4 years makes no sense in my mind. The Fenix8 or Epix 3 will be technically superior in just 14 months time.
Agree but it’s all relative. Someone spending 2k on a marq they can afford is same as someone spending 1k on epix. All tech watches will eventually get “old”
Same can be said for any smartwatch tbh, but the more expensive it is, the more you'll feel bad when a newer model comes out.
Go buy a dumb citizen watch that doesn’t do any of this for the same price
there ain't even an epix 3 yet

Great overview. Man the Garmin Marq line look like awesome tool watches!
👍
Wish they would include the ballistic pro and solar features on the marq series. The tactix 7 pro ballistic is the best watch for features.
Love my Garmin Marq Athlete watch 👍🏻

Great quick video. Perfect for an overview.

As always, another clear en trustfull review. Thx!
You're welcome!
Grade 5 Titanium is much softer than steel. In Rockwell C scale approximately 41 vs 60 (knife steel 58-62). This means that it also scratches more easily
Grade 5 titanium is more scratch resistant than typical steel used in watches. It has a hardness of 300 Hv, which is double the hardness of 316L stainless steel, which has a hardness of 150 Hv.
Grade 5 titanium is an alloy that contains 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. It's stronger than other titanium grades and is more resistant to corrosion, scratches, and heat.
Grade 5 titanium has "self-healing" properties. When it scratches, it will initially show a little brighter, but quickly oxidizes to the same color as the rest of the titanium.
@@nitesharoraIt still has nothing on PVD/Ion plated stainless steel or DLC stainless steel.
What is your favorite watch to wear every day and why? Thanks
I am aware that you cannot compare these watches with automatic watches. But to be honest, my Fenix 5 hasn't had any updates for a while now and it will be similar here and then it will just be an expired watch for quite some money.
Right. 5 times harder than steel isn’t necessary for something that will be obsolete in 8 years.
@@indyinsc Make that 2 yrs
Is your Fenix 5 value for your money???
@@igrand6473 I paid €350 for the watch in March 2020 and it gives me full access to Garmin Connect software and all maps. You no longer have to pay monthly fees like with Fitbit, whoop or oura, to name a few. I am a runner, cyclist and I like to hike and the watch has supported me wonderfully in all these activities up to this point, without any additional costs. So yes, for the money, it was a winner.
that's fine. the Marq line is not targeting at you as the customer.
Fenix 5 is a very good sports watch.
Hi thanks for the video. On the golf features seems like this watch has exactly the same features as the golfer version. For the other versions are you effectively paying for the way it looks? As in all Marq 2 gen watches are exactly the same in terms of features/apps on the watch? Thanks
Hi! I would like to congratulate you for the excellent video. I am researching 2 watch models just for running. If money was no object, would you go for the Garmin 255 or the Garmin phoenix 7? Best regards alexander
Running specific features are nearly identical but the recovery feedback is moire robust on the Fenix 7 with the Training Readiness feature which is not available on the 255.
Quick question. Does the Athlete have the Golf courses added as well. I get the different designs but is the software for golf available on the Athlete or do you need to have the golf version
I used your video as a reference when buying tactix7.
Great review as always.
I hope the Marq gen 2 series will be available in Japan soon.
I don't see a "driver" model in the 2nd generation marq series, will it be released?
Unsure if there will be more editions released or not. Glad you are enjoying your Tactix 7 and thanks!
The screen is as small as my wife's little 6s Pro screen..... Will Garmin be bringing out a marq2 screen size for men lol... . Like an Epix or a Fenix x size? Sarcasm aside...
Thanks for yet another informative enjoyable review... as always.
: -)
love this watch, jut concerned its got a 2 year shelf life as technology and new versions come out....
I don't think I can afford this on my RUclips budget. 😂 Great review as always Des!
Me neither but quite a stunning watch!
Can you please share the expected battery life ? Also surprised to see they have not introduced solar edition considering that's what they are doing in almost all of their watches. My dream watch will still be enduro 2 at the moment. :)
Same battery life as the Epix. Solar + AMOLED tech is probably a while off still. While it makes more sense with MIP displays, it’s not quite as beneficial with AMOLED displays.
The entire line of Garmin watches are getting more and more confusing. I am seeing like a total of 60 models in their websites. And that they all don't do anything particularly different. I am now considering Apple watch Ultra to replace my Fenix 3 because of that.
Can you say more about the 'improved sunrise/sunset widget' on the Adventurer version and whether it will come to Epic?
My friend, like always, great video!
Thanks!
Wake me up when they have 8-year support/updates, ability to upgrade/swap out internals, and a solid state battery, for the same price.
Outstanding product as always garmin rules
Wow… that is one beautiful looking watch!!
🤩
Aside from aesthtic differences, the feature set is the same across all the Marq 2 watches? I presume the apps (like golf for example) can be used any any of the devices?
Yes I wondered about this too
Hey Des,
Great review but I was hoping you could answer one question for me that I can't find anywhere including Garmin support online. Does the Titanium band from the Aviator match the body of the Adventurer EXACTLY? I really want to buy the adventurer but I want to be sure that the metal bands match. With all these slight variations in colours I can never be sure and its a lot to spend to find out I'm wrong! Thanks in advance.
Hey Steven, I don't have both of them to compare but looking at the photo/renderings on Garmin.com it appears that the titanium on the Adventurer case may be every so slightly darker than the Aviator. So not sure if it would match exactly. Again though, that's just from the images and could be different in real life. Sorry I'm not able to help beyond that!
So does the aviator watch software also apply to any other, or does it only apply to that one specifically?
I wonder how the Marq carbon compares to the Fenix 8 solar.
Where is the flashlight lol? The coolest feature added to a watch yet.
Great breakdown! Could you share your wrist circumference for size reference if you get a chance? TIA!
185mm - thanks!
I'm just a normal athletes person but love the looks of the golfer and aviation model. Do those also has standard run, swim and gym functions?
Yup, these have all the functions of a fénix or Epix including standard run, swim, and gym profiles
Are the external styles the difference between them or the Captain has more tech than the Adventurer , what if I'm a Captain and an Aviator do I need both watches ?
No hardware change comparing to the EPIX it seems. I wish they had added the flashlight or a speaker or LTE.
Your right especially about the speaker
I don't necessarily think the Marq is meant to add new hardware features like a flashlight but more to elevate the Epix with higher end materials.
The domed glass looks like it has a bad reflections issue. At 1:15 & 2:52 & 3:02 on your video. When the watch face is turned it suffers from reflections so much that at times you can't see the screen.
Are those comparable to the descend MK2? Good for freediving too?
Is it suitable for scuba diving?
Jet Lag feature sounds very interesting
I hope to be testing it out soon!
„Highest end“ You mean „highest expensive“ Garmin watches 😬👌🏻
I had the Marq Athlete and liked it but for now the Apple Watch Ultra is my watch to go. Perhaps if they include AMOLED and solar together it is worth it
Is inline-skating one of the included sports?
which is better in terms of functionality: 1) Garmin Marq Adventurer Gen 2
2) Garmin Tactix 7 Pro Ballistics Edition
Garmin Enduro 2 Carbon DLC Titanium ? battery charge is not so important for me, the main thing is the number of functions.
The Tactix 7 Ballistics edition is the only one of those with the specific ballistic functionality (along with a few other tactical-specific features) and the Tactix 7 and Enduro 2 also have flashlights. Other than that the functionality is very similar between all three for the rest of the functions.
@@DesFit thank you. therefore, Ballistics pro and Enduro 2 are more functional than the Garmin Marq Adventurer Gen 2?
FYI I would like to know if the MARQ Gen 2 Aviator watch is better than the D2 Mach 1 as the specs do not state this is so. I have a MACH 1 and there would be no way I would 'upgrade' to this even if someone offered me a swap. Maybe the MARQ looks better?? That's about it.
The D2 Mach 1 has a larger screen and better resolution. Other than the look they seem identical..
The Marg Gen 2 Aviator is greater than twice the price of the D2 Mach 1 with lower specs. These guys know how to make money through advertising.
Great video. Is the nylon band pn the captain supposed to be good for running
The included nylon bands don't have much stretch to them so they aren't super ideal for workouts however they include an additional silicone band with the Adventurer, Captain, Golfer, and Aviator.
Is the gps open water functionality really accurate distance wise? I use the 745 fr and it really sucks….distance is far off, so pacing is totally irrelevant unfortunately
Hello DesFit, do you know if it is possible to buy the athlete rubber band?
According to the specs, the display resolution of the MARQ Gen2 is slightly inferior compared to the Epix Gen2. Could you please comment on this? Is the difference recognizable?
Extremely hard to tell. Literally had to take out a ruler to measure the difference.
It's actually the same as the epix because it's 1.3 vs 1.2 wich equates to their pixels respectively
Do we know if that band would fit on the Fenix or Epix and is purchasable separately? I love that style band but not paying $2000 just for that
It does not work with other watches
Can you do a breakdown and share your experience with all the Garmin product segments?
I usually only cover their fitness and outdoor products so those are the only ones I can speak to confidently. I have tons of content on them on my channel with lots of real-world experience 👍
This is unrelated, but did you have trouble tracking your wrist temperature on your Apple Watch Ultra? That seems to be an issue to some folks and I have all the sleep focus and sleep settings and sleep schedule correctly set up but I still after eight days I’m not getting wrist temperatures.
Wrong vid to comment this champ. You're wasting space
Can you make a more detailed review of the captain Watch please? :-)
Would love to but unfortunately I can't speak about the marine features with any remote experience. Sorry about that!
Does the adventurer watch have an LED light like the Fenix 7?
These don't have the LED lights
@@DesFit thank you.
Would you be able to do a comparison between the apple ultra and the Garmin marq2?
It will be essentially the same as the Garmin Epix vs Apple Watch Ultra video that I already have published (ruclips.net/video/ufI-uOE49xk/видео.html) but with the Marq 2 even more premium materials.
what about the carbon edition??
Is the 2nd gen as heavy as the 1st one or lighter?
So do all the other versions have the exact same athlete software as the Marq Athlete watch and then some extra specialized software built in? Or are they all different watches with their own different special features?
The Athlete is kind of the baseline for all the Marqs and then the Adventurer adds a special orienteering function, and then the golf, aviator, and captain editions have special features specific to each model.
@@DesFit awesome thank you
IS there no batterylife difference from the Epix 2? For a 1000$ more, they should have made it better something between epix 2 and Fenix 7 at least
It's more about the difference in materials and construction with the Marq series vs re-engineering the internals.
there should be a marq master edition that has the 4 relevant watch specialties (aka leave out the golf bs) combined into one. also any watch this expensive with this much technology in it should be able to be used if the world “ends” in other words there needs adequate solar charging so the watch can work in case there is no electricity available, solar charging like the g-shock gpr-1000 would be great
Is the always-on display still there?
Yup!
Ugh so pricey but I want one
Please tell me which watch(es) in the entire range displays the largest stopwatch window and time + lengths window to be read through goggles when swimming. Thank you!
All of these use the same displays 👍
@@DesFitDesFit Thank you very much for your help.
All my Garmin watches broke in under two years of intended use. Can’t imagine paying that much for a throwaway watch.
I will wait until there is a watch without a gap between the screen and the bezel!
Great video! 🙎🏾♂️👍🏾
Thanks!
can you get all the features on each watch? I'd like the athlete + golf features in one watch.
Unfortunately not
@@DesFit
yes u get the golf mode on the athlete
What about sim cards? It is the only thing missing
My compass and timex work just fine. I’ll spend the $2100 on $5.00 a gallon of gas for now…. 😂
marq 2 vs Enduro 2. which is better ?
Depends on whether battery life and a flashlight a priority vs the extremely premium materials of the Marq, which is not to say the Enduro 2 isn’t premium, it’s just that the Marq goes even further.
I think this is absolutely fantastic, but just like any smartwatch, it'll become obsolete within a few years.
The single biggest drawback with smartwatches is the fact that they're still smartphones that inhabit the body of a watch.
A proper watch, regardless of whether it's mechanical or Quartz, will never become obsolete in the same way smart tech does.
That's why I'm happy with my Citizen Skyhawk and 2 G-Shocks, because they provide me with all the essential features, and their design is timeless.
Why would someone opt for the adventurer over the fitness model? Wouldn’t they both do the same thing? I Can understand why someone would go for the golf, sailing and aviation watches. But between the adventurer and the fitness I’m confused
Probably comes down to the band and the different look being the biggest differences in addition to the additional orienteering feature and improved sunrise/sunset widget.
wait... was that a (2) TWO in front of those prices ?
Is the processor updated????
Make a review on Adventurer (gen 2) version please.
Actually trying to get one of those for review. Not available quite yet.
i still don't get how and why is it more expensive than descent MK2i+air gage
How can they charge those prices ? I mean it’s a base price omega/Brietling/luminox etc. which are luxury, quality life lasting watches. Vs these gadgets that will be irrelevant in 2 years or less.
Why can't they put solar on these amoled display watches ?
Are the bands Interchangeable amongst the MARQ series?
Yup! And I forgot to mention that all of the Marqs (except the Athlete edition) also come with an additional silicone band.
@@DesFit do you have any idea if the weight of the athlete and the adventurer are the same when both have a silicone band? I think the athlete looks good, but my choice would be to have an adventurer with a silicone band for running and a titanium band for going out at night and else (assuming that the adventurer will have the same metrics and functionalities as the the athlete).
@@manfredheyn6757 Both the Athlete and Adv have the same materials in the case + bezel themselves, so they should be nearly identical on the silicone. On the site they are 85g vs 84g respectively.
Hi @desfit... Did i see "NAPS" feature?
Nap suggestions within the jet lag feature
theres no couch potato version with directions to pantry and fridge?
Can you use the curved end rubber band of the marq in a epic or fénix 7
Doesn’t appear so. Although definitely can use Epix band on Marq.
I try it in every position, loose or right way, Marq 1 or 2 keeps leaving me a deep sign on my skin if I dare to wear it :( I'm the only one disturbed by this? You can change the hand, ok, but in one hour (even 5 min) it's the same. How you can wear it? Same for Forerunner 955/965 or Epix 2. If I sleep with it, in the morning I have a huge deep red sign from the sensor... I simply can not understand why no one it's complaining about this. You wear it too tight it's not the right answer.
Because most people that work out appreciate garmin and what they offer. The majority of us are not complainers. We fi d solutions ourselves or deal w it. Or in your case you shouldn't be buying
@@seekdiscomfort4746 If you have any real helpful solution, please share. Complainers and trolls doesn't own almost every Garmin watch from Fenix 5 until now. It is a real problem, and a very annoying problem and simply can not understand why we have this omerta law about this. I really like Garmin/Marq, but what's the point if I can not wear it?
And the Marq Commander??
The Marq Commander is from the first gen Marq series
Tem opção de deixar o display sempre ligado na opção de ver as horas ?
Sim
Not worth the upgrade cost. If you need a watch slightly more durable than an Epix 2 or Fenix 7, God bless ya. Jet lag feature is a neat gimmick, but hardly worth it unless you travel more than 2x a year.
The only upgrade that would get me to sell the Epix 2 is if we could make calls now.
Why this watch will flop. 1. AMOLED means screen will not last as long. 2. No speaker or microphone. 3. No lte. Garmin if you are going to make a watch that cost more than my rent, please put everything that you have learned inside. Also, the battery has to be changed. Otherwise someone will just buy a cheaper version that does everything. Gesh.
dunno why they don’t include the descent mk2i in this lineup tbh
As a seaman, i like the marq aviator than the marq captain
Cool watch, but the "grade five" titanium hype is pretty funny. "Grade five" titanium is just regular ol' 6/4 ti. It's the most commonly used titanium alloy. Basically any titanium watch case is "grade five". It's good stuff but nothing noteworthy.
gorgeous
Any word on the Marg Driver?
No user-replaceable battery options but I believe you can send it in. However as Han Solo commented, the battery should last for much more than just a couple years. I have friends with a Fenix 3 which is 6+ years old now that are still working great.
Looks like they dropped the "Driver" focused model!
There's the Epix 2 Porsche, though.
I have the driver first gen and im shocked they dropped it. It was one of the better looking watches. Im considering the aviator... its Fire
